I have an adopted fur-baby that had a lot of control and behavior issues. Training, the usual way was just not working. I tried this and, within one day, the disruptive behavior (running and tearing up things in the house, jumping from one piece of furniture to another, non-stop barking) all stopped. He began with sitting, immediately after only two "vibrations" of the collar. By the end of the week, all I had to do was take out the remote control, say the words of sit, stay, no and wait, and he did so. Now, I don't have to use the remote at all but just say the words. I will tell you that, under no circumstances would I recommend the "shock" feature. Because it is easily changed on this model, by accident, I found out, the hard way just how much it hurts the animal. If you click MODE, by accident, from it being on vibrate, it switches over to Shock. BE VERY CAREFUL when you are about to use the Y button, for sound or vibration as, if it's on shock–and this was the very low setting–the dog whelps loudly and jumps, shakes, etc. I would not recommend it for any animal lover as, I don't even want to know what it feels like. Because the vibration is strong, even on low settings, and the other setting of "beep" is a high frequency sound, I found them the most effective. Thebeep sound is for Guiness (my new family member) to come–I use the vibration for correction, when needed. Guiness was the most difficult dog that I have worked with and I have behavioral training for dogs, which I have used for all of my pets. If this worked on him, it will work on most dogs that have behavioral issues. I would recommend it for the vibration and sound settings–and hope to get one that doesn't have the shock setting as, I feel that is just inhumane to use on a dog (my opinion after seeing how he reacted, on just a low setting). PLEASE USE CAREFULLY until you are used to the remote. That is my only advice when purchasing this for training.kelly4jesus
I am, so far, very happy with the design of the collar and remote handset. I especially like that you can do either vibrate OR static corrections with this set, AND can adjust the level of stimulation, immediately, for each. My only complaint is that the slide on clip is NOT useful. It does not grab either a collar, belt, or pocket, to any real degree. It slips off easily and drops to the ground, to be either lost or damaged. It would be better to design a stronger spring clip or clamp that is stronger. Because it continues to fall from where it is clipped, I am forced to hold it in my hand continually. Giving the dog a visual cue that I have control handy. It is more useful for the dog no not be able to connect such an association. Putting it in my pocket results in a possible inadvertent correction to the dog unnecessarily. Although I like many aspects of this product, and being a professional dog trainer, it would be nice to be able to recommend an affordable, good quality product. But because of the handset clip, I hesitate to do so. If this design was addressed, I would recommend it.dpcclm
My dog used to jump on anyone that came over and she was hard headed about listening. Been using for about a month now and have only shocked her once (on level 2) and now she listen with or with out wearing collar. We still put it on her every day and especially if company is coming over, but she knows when she hears the beep she's gone to far in pushing her luck. Most of time beep gets back in line and if not vibrate does. Can't beleave we waited so long to get one. Now friends and family can come over again and we don't worry about her jumping up on our guest particularly little kids. We put it on her in the morning and take it off before bed time and turn collar off at night and battery will last almost 2 weeks on collar before charging (wonted to see how long battery would last between charges) , Generally now we charge it once a week over night and haven't had it die yet while she's been wearing it. Can't say how water proof it is at this point haven't allowed her in the water with it yet. Only complaint is as others have stated it's easy to change channels on transmitter if your not paying attention. But have gotten used to looking at transmitter before pushing button. Besides If your going from Beep to vibrate your gonna wanna see what you have it set to before you use transmitter again, so I don't find it that big of a deal.jnmpatterson4

disappointed. Its a poor design. The rounded part (NOT the part against the dogs neck) is what really vibrates. My dog (35lb spaniel) doesn't seem to feel it! Fantastic all in one collar. I love the fact I didn’t have to buy a beeper and stimulation unit separately. I have a small dog, a French Brittany, and thought lower levels of stimulation might be too much as the range is only 1 to 16. But the lower level ranges are fine. Never had to go up past level 5. I’ve had the unit a little over three months. Service was great. Because of the small neck size, and the placement of the stimulation unit and the beeper, it was impossible for me to just put new holes in the collar to tighten it up. I sent it back and they moved them closer together to permit additional holes for my dogs neck size. At no cost. Compared to other collars, for what this offers, it is a great price. I bought this collar because I lost my controller for my tri tronics g3 exp in the field on a Montana hunt. I was happy with my old system but didn't wan't to buy garmin after they changed the product and didn't take care of their customers. I am happy I went with D.T. and I like this system better. The beeper system is what makes this collar better. I really like using the beeper to locate my dog in thick cover. I also like the fact that the controller is light and orange so I have a better chance of finding it if for some reason I misplace it. I bought this collar two years ago to help train my deaf Australian cattle dog. I have been very pleased with its performance and durability. Four months ago we picked up a 3 year old yellow lab at a shelter near Denver. The dog is lovable, has had some hunting experience, but was WILD when we got him. It was necessary to keep him tethered at all times, or he was GONE for 20 minutes pursuing some scent in the nearby forest (we back up to public land). I love this collar! The vibrate feature is nice, so I can alert him without hurting him. Start with the beep feature, then, if no response, use the vibrate, then, if no response, the shock. Once you make it up to the shock, they'll typically respond to just the beep in the future, since they know what comes after the beep. I almost NEVER have to shock him, because he responds to the beep very well. I felt guilty buying a shock collar at first, but now that I know I don't really use that feature, I feel better about it. Also, my dog behaves better, in general, when he has his collar on, because he knows I "have the power". He's a 70-lb Doberman mix who enjoys being off-leash and with this collar, we can do that a lot more often. 🙂sonicsarah
This is a great training tool! You mostly just need the beeping function as they learn pretty quickly that that means to quit barking. If you have a really stubborn dog, it only takes one shock to teach them the consequences of ignoring the beep. The shock level is adjustable, so you can make it as low or as high as needed for your dog. This collar recharges quickly and lasts a long time between charges. best collar yet! I start with the vibration first and then resort to shock last case scenario. It does not hurt as long as you have the shock on the low setting. I have a puppy who is a Aussie blue heeler and it helped a lot especially since I work from home. We got a 6 month old long haired dachshund puppy to add to our family, which already included a 12yo indoor only cat. That was 8 months ago. We did everything correctly from the beginning to ensure that our two fur babies would, at very least, tolerate each other enough to peacefully coexist in our home. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we just never have been able to stop our pup from chasing, cornering and general tormenting of the cat. Don't get me wrong the cat has now for the most part stopped running and stands her ground which means there is a noisy fight. To clarify, the cat is fighting and hissing and growling. The dog thinks she's playing and loves the game and he hears nothing else when focused on this game. Hi It is rare that I take the time to comment, positively or negatively on any product but felt I had to in this case. Some background, we had 4 dogs and live in a basic suburban housing area with most homes being on 1/3-1/2 acre lots. In February we rescued a 1 year old great pyrenes. We are her 5th home. If you know anything about this breed you know they bark…A LOT!!!! I try to be a good neighbor and when Maya starts to bark I would try to get her to come in. This was not always the easiest thing to do and required chasing here. There were many times when she was in the house she would just start barking and continue to do so for over an hour. We would put her in the back room and turn on Cartoon Network for her and eventually she would bark herself to sleep. About 2 weeks ago I got a call from one of my neighbors. Our yards meet corner to corner. He told me that he recently retired and likes to relax by his pool but with the dog barking he is having a hard time relaxing. He was planning to contact the city to see what his rights were. Maya is a sweet girl and didn’t want to be forced to giving her up so I did some research on line. That’s when I came across the barkwise complete. I didn’t want a shock collar as I feel that is torture so this fit the bill and I ordered one. The collar arrived on a Friday and I charged it overnight. I put it on Maya Saturday morning. When I put her out (with the other “kids”) she ran to the fence and barked once, stopped in her tacks and doubled back towards our pool. She has been using the collar now for just over a week and the change in her is nothing short of amazing! Once in a while when outside she might give one or two barks but that is it. I spoke with my neighbor and told him what I did and he was impressed as well. Once I have the extra money I may order two more of them as my Lab will bark and my big mix (Lab, American Bulldog, Boxer, huskie) barks once in a while. Also, it is much easier to get her to come in now. I have yet to try the remote control but may use that for socialization training. I will let you know how that goes. I was super hesitant to order these collars for my two dogs. I thought, if these work so great why have I never heard of them? But I just moved from a country setting into town and my dogs have been barking their heads off at all the stimuli and I don’t want to make enemies of my new neighbors and I have a 5 month old they keep waking up. So in a moment of frustration I ordered them and crossed my fingers. I put the collars on the dogs last night and for my smart dog it only took one bark to stop barking and my dumb dog it took maybe 5 barks. Now they have stopped barking at: people knocking on the door, people passing by, cats and squirrels in the yard and they have even stopped barking to be let in. My mind is blown. I’m so happy I didn’t have to get shock collars to stop them barking. I do want to say that it does drain them a bit to wear them so I think it’s humane to try to limit the amount of time they wear them. So I’m only putting them on when I need to. I just feel bad for dogs if they have to wear them all the time. I’ll always have the dogs wear them when we have company coming over because they used to bark at people when they came in and I’ll make sure they are wearing them in the yard and when my son is napping. Both of my dogs are around 30 lbs and the collar fits them on the tightest setting. Collar works well. You need to pair it with reinforcement training. Has really helped our dogs who became extra sensitive to people coming to the house during the pandemic. NOTE: the collar has a major flaw which is that the rubber piece to keep water off the controls is not properly toleranced/designed. This is a huge risk as it comes loose often and the sensitivity goes really high causing false alarms and mental damage to dogs. To solve this, I taped it shut with electrical tape and cut a hole for the charger. Unfortunately this hurts water resistance. This seal needs to be redesigned. I’ll be livid if my collars die due to water intrusion but that’s a better risk than traumatizing my dogs. If they fix this issue, I’d easily give the product 5 stars. I was so excited to try this on my dog because there’s nothing else I’ve done has worked. I loved the range of size the collar goes. I also loved that the button is on the inside so the dog would not be able to accidentally turn it off(no it doesnt zap your hand)lol. I have owned several collars over the years and purchased this to replace a Tri-Tronics XLS. The construction is lightweight, yet durable. Button placement is thoughtful and gives me quick control of the stimulation and beeper. I like the flexible configuration; even though, I had to call SportDog tech support to get it set the way I wanted. (they were very helpful and spent some time with me to understand how I wanted to use the collar before walking me through the setup) I would recommend this collar. The e collar portion works great, the audible location beacon is far from what I expected. It was money wasted. The point function is always on, so if the dog stops for 10 seconds it goes off. I called Sportdog and they told me that’s how it’s supposed to be. It’s too bad because as a located it would be great but it is always going off when the dog takes drinks, pauses, and cannot be worn unless full out hunting.Klassch
I am disappointed that the collar receiver (shock/vibrate) portion does not respond to the tone. I thought that there would be tone, vibrate and shock capability of the shock portion of this collar. The tone button only works the beeper which is useless if the beeper is not on the dog. Also upset that the locate function of the beeper does not have the capability to change the tone from the tone that is already in use on the dog. I would like the locate to be able to have a louder tone than the tone beeping on the dog that I already can't hear.johnostrum

I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. The Training Collar works instantly at the first try. Is a great resource when teaching commands alongside. Unfortunately, our dog’s body has not reacted well to it and started losing hair and developed sores in the areas where the remote box (not sure of the official name, so I apologize) touched his neck, so we have elected to no longer use it.
