Researching and ordering the collar from the Bark Control website was seamless. The bark collar was received in short time via Australia Post Express. It appears to be well made and fairly robust. We have an old Sportdog 10R that still works but gets turned off by our other dog that bites the collar and sometimes presses the power button long enough to shut it down. We got this one and were pleasantly surprised to find the power button is inaccessable to the other dog now. It's also smaller and lighter. all the reviews for this product were really great… but i have not had the same experience. right off the bat there were plastic pieces falling off when we opened it up. we have used it on two dogs, a golden retriever mix and a pitbull mix. it seems to work okay on the retriever, but the pit is not phased. Purchased for my bull arab (50kg) who goes barking mad on the way to the beach in the tray of the ute. It's only excitement but upsets all other dogs around. I only put it on 3-4 and he barked once, then was quiet for the rest of the ride. Exactly what i was after Only ever have had to use it on level 2 and it has shocked my dog maybe twice and she doesn’t really bark much at all anymore. I only have to put it on every now and again if she gets barky again but it’s made an amazing difference in our home. German Shepherd. So.. Two weeks of trial and error before I make this recommendation. When the unit works, it works and the dog stops barking after a few seconds. Exactly as the product describes. The problem is that appears that the unit is very positional sensitive. Meaning that if it is not directly flush against the dogs vocal chords it simply doesn't work. It may also be the thick neck hair on the dog. If you had a short haired dog it may be more consistent. Either way, I,m a bit torn. It is terrific when it works but the randomness that it does means that I cannot recommend it. I bought this collar about a year ago and have used it off and on since. It definitely works to stop barking, but the problem is that it shocks the dog even when a different dog barks. I found this out the hard way when I was holding the collar, a dog barked a few feet away, and it shocked me on the thumb! It got me again on the fingers when I was holding it and the phone rang in the other room. I don't use it any more because I don't think it's fair for the dog to get buzzed when someone else barks. This is the first review I have ever left for any product! We live in an apartment complex and just recentl adoped a 2 year old whippet. He is a wonderful dog but unfortunately he still has seperation anxiety and would bark about 20min a day when left in his crate in the morning after my wife and I go to work. My 7 month old Great Pyr had become insanely protective of his yard and home, barking loudly to protect it from everything including (but not limited to) people, other dogs, cats, leaves, and rain. I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. Purchased the Petsafe Basic Bark Control Collar – PBC19-10765 in March 2019. Fast forward 7 months, I wish I had purchased The BarkCollar by DogWatch – No Bark Trainer BT-7 in the first place. Spending the extra money and doing your research is worth it! We have a Labrador and we noticed a sudden change in her behaviour when we moved house. 5am pedestrians and dog walkers and foxes passing by would set her off and we’d often have to get out of bed to give positive reinforcement or bring her inside. In the beginning, I purchased the the Petsafe Basic Bark Control Collar – PBC19-10765. It came with free Replacement Batteries and I purchased an extra pack to save on future postage. Initially, our Labrador responded quickly and barking reduced, however, I don’t believe this was the correct unit for our girl. Her irritability and persistent barking returned to full on annoyance after about four weeks. We replaced the first two complementary batteries, every 4-6 weeks and by August, I purchased 2 replacement Petsafe Red Nylon Straps, as they deteriorate and become too loose. My dog is a 2 year old kelpie, that barks non-stop as long as we have visitors or trades people around, and I mean non-stop! Hours and hours of it! put collar on 'learning mode', no results regardless of collar tightening or level set. 'progressive mode', no results. 'user selectable' set to level 6, big results, reset to level 3. dog took 3 days and 6 zaps in total to learn not to bark with collar on. now only put collar on, switched-on or off, same good results. Problem is now that my dog used to bark in a certain way to call the goats from the back-block for their daily titbits, now she refuses to bark, even with collar off. I have to do the barking myself and it does not work very well! selections 1 and 2 seem to be there to remove the owners guilt complex.jacques w.
I have been using Bark Control collars with our dogs for several years. They are particularly helpful with our very boisterous and curious blue heeler. After an initial discipline training period, we now only need to use the collar about once a month or less when he starts to get barky. As soon as I put it on him, he knows what it is all about and quietens right down and I can put it away again after just one day. It really has trained him to reduce his barking rather than trying to stop him by punishment. I was really apprehensive about buying my pup a bark collar but had no choice following council complaints about his barking. I got the collar home and popped it on my 6mths old pup on the lowest setting. He got used to it very quickly and I could instantly see that it was only a little discomfort for him when he barked. This collar really does work. Ive had a problem with my French Bulldog continuously barking when he is in the garden, he would bark at anything that flew over, birds, butterflies and even aeroplanes. He would bark if he heard another dog or if my snobby neighbours sat in their garden talking or eating and talking to their dog but completely ignoring mine, all of my other neighbours love him to bits and talk to him over the fence. Anyway Ive tried whistles and clickers and of course vocally training him with no joy, a very stubborn breed! But from the second I put the collar on him it has reduced his barking by at least 75% Its well made and doesnt hurt your dog at all, it fits well with a good amount of adjustment and it comes with 3 different colour inserts a battery and a spare battery! This is the 1st review i have ever written, but just had to tell everyone how brilliant this product is! Stopped my working cocker barking virtually instantly! He would bark constantly until he was given his ball or a treat, whichever he wanted at the time! Had tried lots of different approaches, but nothing worked. Now all he needs to hear is the 1st warning beep and he settled straight away – 9/10 times he doesn't even make a sound! Have removed prongs so he can wear it 24/7 as he got wise to knowing if he had it on or not! I cannot recommend this product enough! Already 4 of my friends have ordered them. I purchased two of these as have two noisy schnauzers. One of the dogs is nervous so reacted quickly to the beeps and vibration as disliked it. The other just barks at everyone! So on wearing the collars, the nervous yappy one … would make little noise but not dare bark. The older dog who barks at everyone, became silent – tried it on her in the garden and she became very quiet. So, on wearing to the park… wow…. it was bliss, nice quiet walk. Even off the lead they were quiet, but reminded quickly if a bark escaped 🙂 In the garden, I show them the collars which is usually enough. Would recommend trying as its really helped. I bought the bark collar for my small breed dog who whines constantly & barks at every noise she hears. The collar worked great the first month, and then started shocking her randomly, when she wasn’t making a noise, and then quit all together. I tried to reset it per the instruction manual, and it didn’t work. I have made sure it’s on her neck properly, the green light has still been flashing saying it’s charged after 6wks. I charged it once today, and she has whined constantly since I put it back on her without a shock. So I am very dissatisfied with this collar. The PetSafe bark collar is a basic bark collar with built in levels of correction. repeated barking activate higher levels of correction. In the base model, programming is done with the on/ off button. Confirmation of operation is accomplished by audio feedback. My hearing is not the best, and I had to hold the collar right next to my ear to hear the tones, but otherwise operation is strait forward I tried the collar on two different size dogs with excellent results. One was a medium size dog, a standard Poodle of about 40 pounds and the other, a small dog, a Schipperke, about 12 lbs. Both dogs responded well to the collar. I believe the size of the collar might become a factor in smaller dogs, especially when combined with other collars (license, flea etc.). The collar is rechargeable with any USB source and the USB cable is included, along with a test light and different size tips for the various dogs. I purchased this product for a new puppy who was being crate trained in an apartment. I chose this particular model because of the 15 incremental levels of correction and because of the recharging feature. I have used other models in the past and spent a fortune on model specific batteries. The collar itself was easy to fit. Even on a three month old puppy. It worked as advertised delivering incremental correction upon detecting a whine or bark. The problem is the dog failed to cease barking instead increasing his barks to the given correction. The collar was removed and another attempt was made to use the collar again with the same results. Two other attempts were made but by then the dog became visibly agitated at the site or placement of the collar. I returned the collar to tractor supply without any difficulties for a full refund. I decided to follow a more holistic approach and purchased Naturvet Hemp Quiet Moments soft chews. These chews given 45 minutes before crating do the trick and he now enters and remains quiet. It has taught him his crate is his safe space. The Naturvet product was purchased at Tractor Supply. We buy all of our food and treats and other supplies for the quality, fair prices, availability and extremely friendly associates, thanks again Emma. The transmitter will not charge, despite my having ordered a new battery. The collar receives and charger work just fine, but the transmitter does not work well…it lost its charge and I can't recharge it…so it's a very expensive one-time-use collar. This collar works and is a lot better than remote control collars. You don't have go reaching for or looking for the remote. Our dog would bark excessively at anybody or any noise, no more. It is a lot larger than the picture looks, it is for larger dogs. The info said it can be used for smaller dogs and it does, but it is huge and we had to cut most of the collar off so he can't chew on it or it dragging on the floor. I wish it was smaller, but it works. We have it on a low setting and still he yelps like he's been bitten. I don't think that the vibration warning is working, because it lit him up as soon as he barked. We had a loud thunder storm that apparently set off the collar because he yelped. So it is not working like it says it is suppose to, but it has stopped the barking so I'm happy. I like that it is rechargeable, because other collars would burn through batteries, at 6 bucks a pop and didn't last very long was getting expensive. It's been over three weeks and it hasn't needed recharging yet. I wish it was smaller, but can't argue with the results.lee
