This heater is designed specifically for a certain model dog house. I did not realize that. I had to modify a bran new heater to make it fit. Lowest temp setting is 50 degrees. I have another brand that goes to 35. Cannot change temp or start it without remote. My other heater of a different brand seems like a better unit.Darren 4545

I have the solar-powered ventilation fan installed for warm weather months, may have to swap it out to install the central heater during cold weather months. This item kept my water supply warm and unfrozen in a heavily insulated compartment. It uses less electricity and is a little safer than an infrared lamp. It's not as hot as an infrared lamp.Gal in Vermont

I was eager to give this Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp a try. Besides the occasional aches and pains I’ve unfortunately come to know the older I get, I knew my husband (who’s a trucker) would likely find some relief from the tension and aches he regularly has from sitting for long periods of time driving. This heat lamp is lightweight, yet well made. It operates relatively quiet, and has a nice long cord. There is a handy wrap-around cord minder underneath the stand, meant to store the extra cord length out of the way; a safety feature. However, the notch the cord goes out through from the bottom, isn’t quite as big as it could be, so even when the cord is twisted sideways, it just doesn’t fit through the notch very well. The ‘head unit’ tilts up and down so you can better direct the heat, with handles on both sides reminding me of the light at a dentist’s office, which gives the heat lamp an unusual appearance. The time selector switch allows you to set how long you want your session to last; up to 15 minutes. Included with the lamp is a simple pair of safety goggles, which I’d recommend wearing if you plan on using the heat lamp on your face or chest, where you are facing the device directly. Also, leave adequate space between yourself and the front of the lamp (a minimum of 12 inches, as stated). *Important: remember to read the User Instructions and Safety Guidelines before use. Be sure not to cover up the vented opening for the fan on the back of the heat lamp, and keep all flammable items at least 40 inches away from the unit. Beyond treating basic aches and pains, as they crop up, what I’ve been using this Beurer Heat Lamp for is as a part of my nightly routine. After five minutes or so of simple relaxing meditation, I use the heat lamp for around ten minutes to ease the tension in my mid/upper back which settles there, as that is the area in my body where I feel the accumulated stress at the end of the day. Even after only a week of this routine, I’m definitely noticing a real difference in my sleep quality and how less tense my body feels upon waking. I understand this is not technically the stated use of this heat lamp, but I am seeing real benefits from using it this way. I will say, in my opinion, that direct heat (like that from a traditional heating pad) is more reliable and immediate for aches and pains. But for some, a heating pad might not be practical for their needs or a viable medical option, so this Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp might prove to be a better alternative.Janine

This heat lamp gets real hot and feels great on sore spots. The only issue I found is that the light gets so bright yet is hard to not look at it. The instructions have several disclaimers that I think must be followed intently, and the main one is to not look at the light. I found this easier said than done since the face of the lamp is so large. The lamp even includes small glasses like when you go to the tanning salon. You also have to be very careful where you place the lamp. The instructions also tell you where and where not to place the lamp since the heat can be so intense. The lamp itself does get very hot, and the infrared technology does penetrate the area. While the heat is working it feels very soothing. I do like using it, I just debate if it is much better than a heating pad. I suppose it is better in the fact that it does not need to make contact with the skin, I am just not so sure it is worth it.Bootleg89

For someone like myself that doesn't want to continually take medication for aches and pains, this is an ideal home therapy product. We have tried many similar products, but this one always stands out the best. Our family has used this product for 10 + years with no issues so far. We have purchased more of these lamps over the years for our new geckos, and they are still going strong, We sit it on all six of our leopard geckos cages, including our bearded dragon, and blue tongued skink. Excellent clamp light for a terrarium or other critter habitat. The clamp ships loose and the lamp reflector could site directly on an aquarium lid grate. Once the clamp is attached it can be secured to other objects. It easily fit a floor joist in our basement (~1-1/2" wide) and I expect it would easily expand to fit an object 2" or so wide. It was a good deal at just under ten dollars.matt

I have two of these lamps. I have the 5 inch and the 8 inch. Both of them have the same issue. The clasp is not large enough or grippy enough to anything thicker than an inch. The bulb you use is also a big contributor to whether or not the lamp will be able to stay in the position you want it. If you use a heavier bulb you can count on the swivel joint to fail and you will only be able to use it in a facing down position. Both of these issues limit the ways you want to position the lamp but regardless I actually kind of like these lamps. They look way better than the other ones and this one has a light switch. The material is sturdy they actually work well for plants and grow lights! For the price you cant beat it at all!L.

Good quality Chick Brooder Lamp with burn guard that uses Tractor Supply's Reflector Heat bulb (sold in a 2 pack in case one breaks). It has a heat handle and a swivel clamp to give you multiple mounting options. Chicks need heat to start at 95°F and then drop 5°F every week. This means it is important to only blast a corner of your brooder so there are cooler zones. I am buying an electric rheostat so I can dim the bulb without having to change the height higher and higher to get the cooler temperatures. Definitely buy an IR temp gun or use a movable weather thermometer you can move around to see heat levels. Always make sure the chicks have access to water as the heat makes them thirsty.Riptide360

These are great heat lamps .We just bought a new bulb as ours went out for a cppl days. Soon after we replaced the bulb- right away our dragon was-"regulated" – good sign. These bulbs are necessary to keep your pet that depend on heat for their health and well being. Take care of the bulbs— don't bump them around, don't move them often- you can shorten their life. Also be careful if used in a childs bedroom. Teach kids responsibility of having heat equipment- not to touch or clean tanks/terrariums without your supervision. Keep items like toys, clothing, curtains and any flammable items away from the heat lamps. —–****Make sure you buy the right bulb for your tank. I ordered (6) 150W red bulbs for a home-based Nutritional Balancing style near-infrared sauna. They are perfect for the purpose. We put them into track lighting heads and they fit the requirements for the NB program. Two of them arrived broken, but Drs. Foster and Smith replaced them immediately at no cost to me. They arrived quickly, for which I was most appreciative. Thanks for a great product! It was nice to know that I could go with 150W bulbs for the NB program, rather than the 250W bulbs which are recommended. We could not find track lighting which would take 250W, so we were most grateful.NBEnthusiast

These bulbs are often suggested to customers that don't really know that much about their lizards before they do a little bit of research and these red lights will keep them up at night. They are unhealthy for bearded dragons. Do not get a red light to keep your bearded warm at night because it will disrupt their sleeping patterns. Make sure your house is warm enough that it isn't going below that needed temperature for them at night as the desert and areas where these lizards do live naturally does get cooler in the evening so you do not have to keep it at the daytime temperature at night. Do not get these red lights they are not good for your bearded dragon.aureanna.b
