Wish it came in a larger diameter, but I think the 38 will work for now. The puppy will only be about 4 pounds when I get her but will grow to be 8-10 pounds, so the pen should give her enough room to play until she is trained. I also like that it has a zippered top that can be taken off while inside or zipped on if outside because she is small enough to become prey to hawk, owls, or coyotes. Also like the pockets, the tote bag, and the fact that it is so light weight.
I purchased the play pen for my 10 week old chihuahua. I am pleased that it gives him plenty of space for a bed, a potty pad, a wooden table for food and water, and still plenty of space for him to play with toys. I am using the play pen when I need to be gone for any amount of time. I also purchased a crate at our local store for him to use at night. He seems to like being in the play pen. I know my cat appreciates having the house to herself when he is in it. The two are still working on sharing a home and myself. They are doing well considering it has only been 10 days. I feel that any breed that is bigger then a toy/miniature would be better in a bigger,sturdier enclosure. I think that this would also work for cats/kittens while house training. I am looking forward to fall and being able to move it back and forth from inside and outside. It will provide a safe place so he is able to enjoy spending time outdoors and getting fresh air. I bought the pink one for my 3 month old American cocker spaniel and it was definitely not a good choice. It's cute and the color is nice but it's too easy for the sides to cave in and if your dog or cat is super crazy, they can actually move this around the floor like a hamster ball. This is probably fine for small, inactive puppies, dogs, kittens or cats. It's spacious enough for a sedentary furry friend. My hyperactive little terror sunk her teeth into the mesh sides and started pulling it apart. She also figured out how to unzip it. I would not recommend it.kejean12

I originally bought one for my hamster a few years ago. It's a great size starting out and well made. My first hamster learned to climb out so you have to supervise (you should anyway whenever your hamster is out of its cage), but my new hamster does not try to climb out. I bought another pen and they link together. It's great for taming your hamster and also for toys and wheels that would normally crowd the cage. You can literally buy 10 and link them, but 2 together is actually plenty of space. I like this pen better than the one they sell with loops on the top. Your hamster can get stuck in those! Good quality for an excellent price. This is very well constructed and is surprisingly easily handled by one person. The entire pen is secured with two included hooks and then can be configured to any shape necessary. This size should provide adequate space for small dogs to enjoy for quite play. The height of this particular size may be overkill for small dogs unless they are agile jumpers. I ordered this for my greyhound for leisurely sunning without needing a leash. I use these pens for my angora rabbits. They are a larger breed and some of them will jump over the other pens with little effort. I really like the door and the child proof hook. I like Midwest products as the metal seems to be stronger and last longer than other brands. I have the original ex-pen I bought around 1995 – it's survived 50+ large dogs. I prefer them to crates as the dogs have more room to move around, yet they are easily configured to a smaller shape when potty training. They easier to clean than crates. They fold flat and I can store them next to a fridge or behind a furnace. They work indoors/out and are great mobile containment. For dogs living in fenceless areas (condos) ex-pens can be linked using carabiners/bolt snaps (i.e., dog leash clips) for fencing moveable for mowing/snow removal. They are great for patio surrounds. You can buy metal tops for if a dog needs more containment, but most won't if using a tall enough ex-pen. I've also bought just the metal or plastic crate pans to put under the ex-pen if needed. do NOT use for kittens. i brought one for my kitten and he's now known as the escaping. he climbed and jumped over the gate. when i fixed that, he twisted his head and got through one of the holes. i fixed that as well and he's still somehow getting out. if you are wondering how i "fixed" that, i used mesh wiring. this product probably works great with dogs, but cats are a different story.uzziah

I have bought innumerable similar wire-panel pens over the years from Petco and other sellers, but I have never seen one made of such small-gauge wire. Once you or your dog pushes even a bit against a panel, it warps too easily. Then the gate is hard to line up to close. Also, better quality products have a long rod that can be removed to rearrange the panels and change the location of the gated piece. It's a good size, but the instruction that came with it wasn't helpful at all. I ended using zip ties to secure the fence section alongside the door latch. The rubber rolls that came with it were quite useless. My pup could easily get them off. I recommend you purchase the life touch one instead.K

Easy to fold and move around. It is very flimsy. If my puppy jumped on it while it was set up in the house, she would be able to push it around the living room. She might even hurt herself by jumping on something that would not support her weight. The door is not sturdy and would not even open all the way. DO NOT BUY THIS. I would rate this a 0. After using for a month, Today my (about 15 weeks old) golden retrievers PAW got wedged and stuck between the bars and I literally felt like superwoman and had to pry it open. Love that’s it’s washable. I got the medium and it’s a great size. Good for in and out doors. I know some said for indoors the dogs would flip it. Which I have a 4lb puppy that does just that. But I zip the top and she uses it like a hamster ball to get around. It’s actually quite entertaining for us lol. Also with saying she’s a puppy she tends to chew.. there are a few snags in the mesh but she hasn’t managed to put any holes in it. Finger crossed. All in all it’s perfect for what I needed to to do. do NOT use for kittens. i brought one for my kitten and he's now known as the escaping. he climbed and jumped over the gate. when i fixed that, he twisted his head and got through one of the holes. i fixed that as well and he's still somehow getting out. if you are wondering how i "fixed" that, i used mesh wiring. this product probably works great with dogs, but cats are a different story.uzziah

I love everything about this dog pen, except that one of the panels was missing the upper hinge. I did not want the hassle and wastefulness of returning the entire large and heavy item. I tried to see if I could just get a single replacement panel, but I don't know how to do that. I guess I will just keep it and only use 7 of the panels *Sigh* (If anyone can get a single panel replacement – please let me know!) The raised gate is perfect for not rubbing on the floor and scratching it up. the panels are not too heavy I could construct the pen easily. I love that there are different shapes that you can make with the panels, depending on your space available. If I could give zero stars I would. It has rusted so badly HUGE FLAKES fall off of it. Not only is it now unattractive I worry about the health of my dog. I have used this to host puppy playdates over 2 years. Cannot be happier with purchase. My front yard is not completely fenced; There was a need to fence off, but not permanently as we use front yard for other purposes. Fences are flexible, can be set up in any figures as needed. Once I figure out where to put fences, it takes 10 mins to set up, 10 mins to take down. I initially bought 2 sets, and neighbors and friends praised, and we had so many puppy visitors. That led me to buy 1 more set so the playpen could be bigger. Despite I have 3x sets, once taken down, they store nicely in small tight space on the side of house. Each set comes with 1 panel with a door. Since I have 3x sets, I have 3x panels with door. I set up door fences on three sides of yard for convenience. Summer days, we had playpen every evening. Throughout year, we hosted playpen for every possible occasions; puppy birthday, anniversary, holidays, new puppy debut… We initially worried that some dogs might jump out and run away, but that never happened. Dogs are capable, but wanted to stay inside for fun. We actually had dogs jump in. If you need to just hold puppies around 1 – 3 months, you could buy 1 set. But, if you are planning any meaningful puppy playdate, you will need minimum 2 sets, most likely 3or 4. Works pretty well, wish I got it sooner for my dogs’ litter of pups cause they’ve been doing SO well since I got it. I think they may actually feel more secure than when they were free to run around every where. The only cons – it seems like the part with a door is stuck at one end of the fence and will be really difficult to move (since I’ve got it hooked to each side of a crate, I need the door more in the middle for my set up). Also the door is low enough for yorkie pups at 6-8 weeks to crawl out of, I just put a bit of cardboard there when we open it so mom can get in and out but the pups can’t. Also two of the clips broke within the first couple of days, I’ve replaced them with solid metal ones. Oh, and though she doesn’t usually, mom can jump over it if she wants out bad enough and she’s a small 7 lb dog, so if it’s not for a puppy litter, I’d probably get one that’s taller than this.Fredericksburg Yorkies

But, I’m pretty sure parts are not packaged in ziploc bags as some of my parts were. I bought this because I’m staying with my sister temporarily and have 2 dogs. I used to live in an apartment with wood floors and apparently, my dogs don’t like carpet. I work from home so I rarely leave the house but the dogs (both under 12lbs) started ripping at the carpet. This kennel is extra large and wonderful to hold their bed and then room for training pads. The tray on the bottom is metal and very sturdy. We are loving this as an option. The Cons….Metal tray is not as large as the crate—so we have some wetting outside the tray. ( boy dog) The handles —-one was broken off when arrived. It is not welded very well. We just put duck tape as a handle and use it that way. Overall this is a great crate. Just have to make a few minor adjustments. The biggest being the tray is not as large as the crate.Sand
Seemed like a really good solution for my lab mix whose afraid of storms but in her 1st night I didn’t get any sleep when I laid down. The lifting of the cage walls( they are not secured to the bottom in any way at all and sit around the cage bottom that is about an inch in space on all sides from the cage bars). A stand up, and a simple push was all it too for her to get free the 1st time. 2nd attempt, I secured here cage in the corner of a room with my stationary exercise bike pinning it in a corner. Bloody mouth, paws and less than 10 minutes later 8 had to let her out. She bent the bars inward as they aren’t as strong as they look. Heavy duty is an understatement. Could not return it since it’s technically used, but this was the 1st day I used it. Total waste of my money. My dog is NOT a wild puppy either, as she is 12 yrs old, only 65lbs and not aggressive at all.Nikki
