Some dogs just don't quite fit into the size charts in the way other dogs do. Our dog Angel, a mountain cur, is one of those dogs. Weight wise, Angel is comfortably in the medium category but she's tall and lanky so she always had to hunch over in her medium crate. This larger crate is a perfect height for the needed room. We bought this product mostly because of the vertical lift feature of the door hinge and the two-door access options which is great for all sorts of configurations (against different walls, corners etc). We like the size and customizable interior of the XL crate for our growing puppy (husky/shepard mix). This is definitely an at home crate vs. care crate. The only issue we have is that compared to our first crate (same company, large single door, 2 locks) is that this crate is very rattly. We crate our dog during sleeping hours and every time he kicks in his sleep or adjusts, it makes a clangy metallic sound that wasn't expected. Would not recommend for the bedroom but would recommend overall.SanFrannylou

The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice

I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09

We bought this in April 2022 for our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy. He was weeks old when we rescued him. He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! I bought this food 2 weeks ago because my dog has been picky about her food for months now. I have tried Hills Science, Purina Pro, Blue Buffalo – all puppy dry food. I think she really doesn’t like the chicken taste so I thought I’d try something different. From the start when I was phasing out the old food with the new she was way more interested in eating. She also stopped biting her arms which I thought was due to a seasonal allergy but now think it was actually a food allergy. I’m really satisfied with the food! She seems more energetic and overall happier which makes me happy!Drea710

I wish someone would make small sample bags of pet food to allow owners of pets to know if their pet will like it or not before wasting money purchasing several different kinds trying to please fussy pants pets! Or maybe have a tasting station with small bowls of pet food set up for the pet to try in the store! I’m sure this food is great for a starving dog, but my baby would like to share my dinner plate, thank you very much … and I don’t feed him from my dinner plate! We’ve been feeding Taste of the Wild Appalachian for small dogs for about a year now after switching to about 10 different brands. He loves it. The kibble is small, and the food is palatable and healthy. I wish the small kibble was available in fish and sweet potato too, but this has some fish in it. It’s a great choice in food for a very picky little dog. Now if he would only stop chewing his feet. This is new and been going on for about a year or so. So I’m wondering if it’s connected to the food in any way.Remy

My Yorkiepoo has a bit of a problem with constipation. At least twice over the years it's had him backed up enough that he required a trip to the vet and some meds to get his system moving. Since switching to this food (and keeping strict limits on table scraps and treats) his digestion's been great. Long enough, I want to say 2 ~ 3 years now, that if he does have any transient issues I'm confident his dry food is not to blame. And he's been in good health so I feel like he's getting the nutrition he needs. And the little bugger eats it. Not the foods fault but I will say I'm annoyed by the branding change from Focus. Not that I care about the name or picture on the bag, but when you find something good and don't want to change from it, such changes in packaging cause unneeded nuisance and stress. I actually use the lamb and rice so other than the protein everything else is the same I actually switched to it after the price of my dogs normal food got way to high. I definitely notice that her itchy skin is better her coat is shinier usually she will not eat plain dry dog food but because this has the boys dehydrated pieces of Liam edit she will eat it by itself which makes things a lot easier there are times that she does not want to eat it plain so I will moisten it with a little bit of water put it in the microwave for 12 seconds and she devours it. The thing I like about the small breed is the size of the kibble is perfect for her mouth size the price is quite good for what you get I definitely would recommend this my vet recommends this to all their clients my mother uses it for her schnauzer and we have not had any negative experiences I’ve been using this for a few years the only problem I have Kayla cross is that my local pet stores even though they are a big chain store have trouble keeping it in I don’t know if that’s due to popularity or because of shipping problems due to the pandemic we just went throughlaura.k

We are very active in the ring and eventing almost constantly at times going from one event to the next. Our fuzzy babies are beyond spoiled and are unfortunately very selective when it comes to kibble size. We have tried every size of kibble multiple times because the other isn't available and they will only eat the toy size. We have tried everything from breaking the larger kibble up to wetting it stirring it up to small pieces and drying it out, they will not eat it. We tried explaining to them that there is a pic of a Cavalier on the next size up but they don't care, Cavaliers are a toy breed and should have toy size kibble. They will dive into the toy size kibble and make it disappear as we pour it into their dishes. They truly love ProPlan Toy breed kibble. The reason they only got 4 stars is A BIG PROBLEM – availability. For some dumb reason the Toy size kibble isn't available in any pet store we have visited in MI, GA, FL, etc. (on the AKC circuit) What am I suppose to do when the only kibble our Cavalier pack will eat isn't carried in any stores. They only carry the next size up, which they won't eat. The second BIG PROBLEM is it only comes in a tiny bag! We have asked and asked to NO AVAIL (reps, stores,specialty stores, online stores). Appearantly toy size dogs aren't suppose to eat much kibble! The only other dogfood our dogs will eat is homemade fresh, that's it. Doesn't matter if it's in a pouch, can, tube. They will eat Toy ProPlan kibble. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make the Toy (Cavalier true size) ProPlan kibble available in a 20 or 25 lb bag for those of us who have larger toy breed dogs and may have more than one. Every 4 days we have to get another bag tiny bag of Toy Kibble. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE, bad marketing, and bad customer service. We are constantly looking for another brand of kibble that will work because it's expensive buying so many bags of food and impossible to find because suppliers look at the pics on your bags and think "let's get the one with the Cavalier on it", EXCEPT A CAVALIER IS A TOY BREED NOT A SMALL BREED.CKCS Toy Breed

My active Doberman is recovering from a spinal injury and needs to be confined. This pen is perfect. The quality is top-notch, with plenty of clear and illustrated instructions that are really not even necessary as it's so simple to set up. My one and only quibble is that the box opened nearly the full length of the side during shipping. I think the packing tape gave way. All parts were intact and nothing was damaged so just FYI. I'm now going to buy another one of these for the back yard. I was going to transport this one in and out rather than spend the money since it's (I'm hoping) not a life-long need, but while it's so easy to fold and move, it is pretty heavyweight (42") so it'd be a bit of a chore for me to do often. She's never been a jumper, especially not now, and I don't leave her alone outside so I could easily go with a lower height that's less expensive and more portable (keep in the shade) for the yard.jacy

I like Midwest products as the metal seems to be stronger and last longer than other brands. I have the original ex-pen I bought around 1995 – it's survived 50+ large dogs. I prefer them to crates as the dogs have more room to move around, yet they are easily configured to a smaller shape when potty training. They easier to clean than crates. They fold flat and I can store them next to a fridge or behind a furnace. They work indoors/out and are great mobile containment. For dogs living in fenceless areas (condos) ex-pens can be linked using carabiners/bolt snaps (i.e., dog leash clips) for fencing moveable for mowing/snow removal. They are great for patio surrounds. You can buy metal tops for if a dog needs more containment, but most won't if using a tall enough ex-pen. I've also bought just the metal or plastic crate pans to put under the ex-pen if needed. To keep the ex-pen from falling or being moved if I have a rambunctious pup I bungee the corners to furniture or door knobs.HannahB

I ordered several of these to use as barriers to prevent my young Border Collie from running through the mud in our back yard after it rains. I set them up just off the patio several feet to allow him some space in the grass without giving him free reign of the whole yard to run through. They are very easy to set up, take down, and store! The quality is excellent – the panels are very sturdy, the clips are easy to use, and the pins to anchor them in the ground are a great length and weight. I could not be happier with this purchase! I purchased this dog food because my breeder recommended it, but after reading the ingredients label, I returned it. The first ingredient is rice which is a dog filler and considered bad. The second ingredient is chicken by-product meal which is a nice name for slaughterhouse waste which is all the organs that a human won't eat because they are disgusting. I love my dog and could not even think of feeding them this food. This dog food is horrible and expensive! My best advice is to do your research and buy dog food that is actually nutritious.LVuittonLvr

I love Royal Canin. They are a great company with lots of research behind their food. I wanted my small puppy to be in on this brand but she was a picky eater. She love this and the sizes of the kibble were small enough for her 2 lb body. Would recommend.lisa.c

After 3 years of horrible itching solved only by Apoquel meds, I am extremely happy to say that my dog is off the Apoquel as well as all other required supplements and ailments just to prevent itching so much (coconut oil, probiotics, etc). He just gets Zignature Duck dog food twice a day and he itches MAYBE 2 minutes in a 12 hour period. That's beyond incredible. Worth every cent. We have a 15 year old Yorkie who has eaten boiled chicken thighs and hard kibble all his life. Also a very picky eater. When he did eat he would take about 15 to 20 minutes to eat, and 3/4 of it was on the floor! He is mostly blind and deaf now and about a month ago he had a stroke or a seizure because he walked around half dead and would not eat his food. So our son told us about Freshpet Vital and after the first day he can't wait for his dinner!! When he eats now he goes into his bowl and does not come up until his bowl is empty. I bought the medium sized kennel for my Shih Tzu. The size is perfect with plenty of room for him to play. The kennel is sturdy with an easy to operate door. The total time to assemble this kennel was about (1) hour (my husband put it together by himself). You will need something to cut the excess wire (the screws on the door need to be cut back before you can cap them off and the wires that connect the fence to the structure need to be twisted and trimmed to avoid injury). The sunshade DOES NOT cover the entire kennel. which I knew about from other reviews. I left the 2 inch gap near the door so I can stick my arm into the kennel and pet my dog while I walk by. This was simple to assemble, and sturdy. The only issues were small: two spots in the chain link fence, the wires didn't weave correctly so there were holes; and the locking mechanism on the gate is very cheap. I don't think I will use the gate mechanism because my dog could easily push it up and open the gate. I purchased the 4X6X4 Chain Link Kennel for my Flat Coated Retriever. I received it on the day it was supposed to arrive. It was packaged well. All the pieces parts were there and it is a very easy to assemble product. Myself and a friend actually had it assembled in 1/2 hour with the exception of the ties to secure the fencing. Wondering if we were sold a used unit. Missing 3 of the 4 rubber feet the one was already attached. Video shows they shoukd be in a bag and how to install. All 4 corner top supports were there 2 were in plastic bag that was ripped open previously and other 2 were in bottom of crate. Looks like part of the paint was worn off on the corners were the supports go. One of the sliding doors squeals as you slide it closed. Couldn't return it as we sold our previous crate already. The packaging of this item was very good. There is a plastic tray in the bottom of the cage, but it is well protected in the box. I took out the crate and it was all one piece, except for the divider. I laid it on the floor and unlatched the obvious clips that were holding the crate in a flat position. There are instructions that come with this crate, but it was so easy to figure out how to fasten the sides, I did not need them. I did review the instructions after and they are very easy to follow and understand. The crate wiring is very sturdy. I have a 45 lb Springer Spaniel and he has no chance of bending the wiring. The latches will not shake open. They fold over and my dog would have to be a magician to open them. There are two entry points. On large area on the lengthy side. And a slider set of doors on the wide side. Both sides have the same type of latches. The tray is very sturdy plastic and can be cleaned very easily. The crate comes with a divider. It is made of the same wiring material. Very sturdy. I only have one dog, so I won't be using it. But it is easy to install. The weight of the crate is not too bad. It comes with a handle on top, but the width of the crate is a bit large to be carrying around far. It is mainly used for repositioning. You won't pick up the crate with your pet inside. But it makes it easy for lifting into my van without my dog inside. I cannot think of any really bad things about this crate. It is a very quality item. Very easy to use. Very easy to fold and stow away when not in use. All in one piece. To get my dog used to using it, I put some treats in the crate. He went right in and was checking it out. Springers love to be in a cave, so I put a blanket over the top and he enjoys his privacy 🙂Charlie

I really like my Lucky Dog Sliding Door Dog Crate. I am disabled so I thought I would have to have someone help me assemble it. But the hardest thing about putting it together was getting it out of the box. Once it was out, it literally took me less than a minute and that was without instructions. It was so easy to see what needed to be done: lift one wall, lift the ceiling and the other wall falls into place. One end has a door with three lift and slide type handles. You can use one, two, or all three. And the front has the sliding door which is nice for a larger animal or for putting the bed in, etc. There is a heavy duty plastic bottom so you don’t have to worry about puppy accidents. There are also plastic sleeves to go on four corners on the bottom to keep it from being fully in contact with the floor, so there’s air flow underneath. This would also protect the floor in the case of the crate moving during use. They also included four corner protectors so that you don’t bang into a sharp edge and injure yourself or damage something. Good thinking. And a really nice feature is the wire wall that locks into place if desired, making the crate a haven for 2 animals or a smaller space for a smaller dog- for instance a puppy that would be overwhelmed by such a large crate now but would need every inch of it later. No need to buy 2 crates- just insert the divider wall now and remove it when the dog has grown enough to use the space. And if I don’t need to use the crate or I need to store it, it folds flat just as it came. Brilliant! I’m sold on this crate! Only downfall is my dog is exposed to whatever is going on around him so I would have preferred to have had this to begin with. We love this box!! Our red bone blue tic whom weight 95 lbs fits perfect in it and out two gsp fit together in the other side!! Instructions were good but brief, missing some smaller details on placement of blocks, also short you about 6 pieces of wood that need to be cut making the process a little confusing. Also had to bend the tabs for the front door to fit on the wood frame since they were bent inward. I love all the ventilation on this crate and the two door option. It has a handle on top and its not too heavy although a little unwieldy. However its pretty compact and my 5 month old toy Aussie Shepherd weighs 14 lbs sleeps in it overnight.Consumer

A balanced diet for dogs based on actual scientific research that doesn’t rely on marketing buzzwords. Also one of the few brands not plagued by recalls. There’s a reason so many breeders and show handlers feed Purina Pro Plan to their dogs! We. Had started with the shredded chicken flavor, but transitioned to the lamb when my puppy wasn’t enthusiastic about much beyond the shredded pieces in the chicken flavor. I still have a light mix of the chicken variety in her bowl as we finish off that bag (and I always transition dog food slowly to prevent tummy problems), but she’s hunting and pecking for the lamb kibbles in her dish. The lamb variety is a smaller kibble than the chicken – small enough that my Yorkie would be comfortable eating it.danielle.g

My pup previously tried 3 other high end foods but quickly turned them away within a week and had frequent gas and bloating. My 3 month old Border Collie pup loves Purina Pro Plan lamb and rice puppy food. Breeder recommended. He has a very shiny coat. The vet says he is growing very nicely. My older dog even sneaks a few nibbles. I bought five bags of Purina Pro Plan lamb and rice puppy so I wouldn't run out. I would definitely recommend.JKING555
