Shock Collar To Keep Dog Off Couch For Sale (2024 Update)

Working great so far, only had it a couple of weeks though. I have a Little Newfie and a 60lb. mixed breed. Either they haven't tried or they cannot get it off from the couch and chair. The ends tuck in between the side and end cushion. Seems to me made pretty sturdy. It's not the prettiest thing sitting on the couch, but it's nice that it hides so easily. I love that much couch and chair will be less furry and cleaning!Beth

We saved a beautiful longhair German Shepherd from potentially being put down because the owner had developed allergies to him. They, unfortunately, allowed him to sleep on their sofa. We had tried for two years to break him of the habit. Mouse snap traps worked for a while, until he learned how to trip them. Repellents are worthless. We were having to barricade him in another part of the house, which was less than desirable. We bought the couch and chair Defenders and they have worked perfectly so far. I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Here we are 1 week from the day I bought it and my dog's behavior has completely changed. Everytime I let him out to potty, I'll put his collar on and no unnecessary barking from him. This collar vs a $200 collar the vibration is stronger which is perfect for a deaf dog. Just wish the charging light was set up differently to me me it was fully charged! And I do t like the face it goes into standby modebarnfarms

These training collars come as a set for 2 dogs. There is 2 collars and 1 remote. They work great. The instructions are easy to follow and the collars are adjustable so they can be for large or small dogs. The clip makes it easy for putting the collar on and off. You are supposed to give your dog a break from these around their neck like any of other training collar. My dogs all I need is the beep and the vibration options but it does have a shock option as well and the vibration and shock are adjustable. You can switch from one dog to the other using the button on the side with the 1 and 2 on it. Overall a good shock collar for your money. No issues with it so far.Chris

It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. Battery life not best, no off switch for remote, and you can only do 2 choices quickly (tone and vibrate or tone and static) only negatives. We use tone and static due to our dogs thick fur/ response.WMA6

I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! This collar really does work. Ive had a problem with my French Bulldog continuously barking when he is in the garden, he would bark at anything that flew over, birds, butterflies and even aeroplanes. He would bark if he heard another dog or if my snobby neighbours sat in their garden talking or eating and talking to their dog but completely ignoring mine, all of my other neighbours love him to bits and talk to him over the fence. Anyway Ive tried whistles and clickers and of course vocally training him with no joy, a very stubborn breed! But from the second I put the collar on him it has reduced his barking by at least 75% Its well made and doesnt hurt your dog at all, it fits well with a good amount of adjustment and it comes with 3 different colour inserts a battery and a spare battery! This is the 1st review i have ever written, but just had to tell everyone how brilliant this product is! Stopped my working cocker barking virtually instantly! He would bark constantly until he was given his ball or a treat, whichever he wanted at the time! Had tried lots of different approaches, but nothing worked. Now all he needs to hear is the 1st warning beep and he settled straight away – 9/10 times he doesn't even make a sound! Have removed prongs so he can wear it 24/7 as he got wise to knowing if he had it on or not! I cannot recommend this product enough! Already 4 of my friends have ordered them. I purchased two of these as have two noisy schnauzers. One of the dogs is nervous so reacted quickly to the beeps and vibration as disliked it. The other just barks at everyone! So on wearing the collars, the nervous yappy one … would make little noise but not dare bark. The older dog who barks at everyone, became silent – tried it on her in the garden and she became very quiet. So, on wearing to the park… wow…. it was bliss, nice quiet walk. Even off the lead they were quiet, but reminded quickly if a bark escaped 🙂 In the garden, I show them the collars which is usually enough. Would recommend trying as its really helped. I felt absolutely horrible even thinking about getting this collar at first, but it’s been an amazing training tool with our shelter pittie. She was chewing literally every single thing but her toys and getting into the trash can, as well as peeing all over the house despite us taking her outside frequently to potty. Kennel training and praising/treats helped some, but it just wasn’t enough and a trainer recommended a collar like this. I haven’t had to use the shock and don’t think I ever will need to use it. Just a quick beep or a vibrate on the lowest setting is enough to get her attention. I’ve seen so much improvement in a short time with this collar, and feel that soon we will be able to completely ditch the collar as she is learning and catching on to the rules very quickly. I like the bright red and black colors and it was really easy to put it together. The battery lasts much longer than I expected, which may also be due to the fact that we only use the collar as a last resort to get her attention. I think it is a great training tool when used properly and I am very happy I put aside all my negative feelings towards it to give it a try.James

This collar is affordable and very effective. I have a large mountain cur who barks at night and annoys the neighbors. My only option was to put him up for adoption or somehow stop him from barking since he’s too big to keep inside. This collar stopped his barking very effectively. I only had to use the mild shock feature once. Now, if he barks, I hit the vibrate button and he immediately gets the message. Great range and battery life as well. I have been using training collars for years. I originally bought one from a sports store for more than $100.00. While it worked great for a few years, it was only one collar. I now needed another one so I did some checking around and then started reading the reviews on each of them. This one had great reviews and Shipping was ultra fast.I have been using it for 2 days now and it works great, I don’t have to leave my house as it travels a good distance as my dogs are in a kennel outside. We were initially worried that this product might not be the best for our little schnauzer, but it has proved to be very effective without hampering his socialising. Stopped the shrill barking in 2 hours! Seven-month-old GSD lost her mind in her crate when you were doing anything but paying attention to her. First I want to say that if you are going to use a training collar you read, follow, and refer to the enclosed directions so you know what to do and how everything works. Don’t just charge this item up and test features on the go. Knowing how the product works and how to work it, makes this item very user friendly and with common sense can do very well for the consumer and his/her pet. There is a little dog shaped info card in the box and it has a you tube channel link to it and these are very nice if you prefer to watch these sorts of things for more information on the product. I have used a different collar from this same company for my bloodhound with tremendous success. Keep in mind that he’s 100 lbs. and only a year old. This device when I used it worked very well. I substituted this collar for a number of walks/training sessions and use it when around the house and not in hunting/tracking related environments that tend to be a little harsher than the home and surrounding area. I did not use this collar out to or over 300 yards which it is rated for but did test it out to approximately 150 yards (line of sight) and it worked without any issue. I charged the remote and the receiver until they were fully charged before I first uses it. The charging cords and plug-in are very simple and easy to use and I had no issues. This entire system is travel friendly. The receiver and collar fit well on even my large breed (large neck) dog and the collar is easily adjustable and not to narrow and will be adequate for large to small breeds. I would recommend that if you have a dog that is extra-large/giant and known to pull or plow while on a lead that you use a different collar along with this training collar. The D-ring on this collar was not used for lead attachment with my large dog who is sometimes a puller, but was sturdy when I examined it and snapped a lead onto it and I believe would work as an all-around good collar with the receiver for medium to smaller size dogs. I would not fasten any ID tags to this collar since it is recommended and anyone using a training collar knows to not have this on your animal all the time (maximum 12 hours). The receivers different sized contacts or screws easily can be attached and changed and hold their place (always check on them after you take off and before using again – any contact on any receiver can come loose with wear and time). When testing the shock stimulus on the receiver, the test light is easy to use and functional. The receiver continues to hold a good charge even for being used (mostly alert tone) and stored when not in use, same with the transmitter. I found the small LED light on the receiver to be useful but not an adequate location finder. I have a clip-on separate flashing LED light I use during low light environments. This feature saves you from having to make that purchase and is functional with this receiver, but the further distance you have from your dog, the less useful this feature is. If your dog has really long hair the LED light on the receiver may be completely hindered but overall even in the dark or low light it was a smart feature of this product. Pairing the receiver and transmitter was very easy (just follow the directions). The transmitter was a little small for my big hands but my wife liked it just fine. The side buttons used for adjusting stimulus strength up and down were small for me, but I had no issues. We did use this collar when it was drizzling outside and by no means a downpour but there was no issue with the water resistance of the transmitter or receiver with standard use (note the transmitter is not listed as water resistant but the receiver is). I liked the LED light function on the transmitter and when in the dark or low light, it is kind of handy to have just to see around your general area both indoors and outside. The transmitter is user friendly and functional, the display is easy to read and its icons and numbers are easy to recognize and to know what you are doing. The settings for the stimulus is from 0 -100 giving you a wide range of selection for how the stimulus is applied and can be very useful depending on your pet. I also like the function that you can pair more than one receiver to the transmitter. This is handy when you have and want to use the training collar with two dogs at once. I recommend buying another receiver if you don’t have two in your original purchase, either for two dogs or to have a collar on standby in case your battery dies and you need or want to use the collar and don’t want to wait for a recharge. The recharge is relatively fast though and is within or around 2 hours for full recharge. One thing to note is the smart, standby technology the receiver has. It goes on standby after 20 seconds of no operation and after 20 minutes will shut off. Also, the receiver if on your pet is not used for 4 minutes it goes into standby mode until there is movement and then will automatically turn back oBHMK

Initially didnt think it would work on my pit digging by the fence. The receiver comes with three different size / length "prongs" that are covered in rubber for your dogs protection. The shortest one is what came on it and it didnt seem to be reaching through his hair and touching skin. I moved up one size and it is totally effective. I hardly ever use the shock. I simply use the beeper and if he keeps digging I used the vibrate which is similar to your cell on vibrate but more extreme. He immediately stops and tries to figure out what is going on. That little bit gets him sidetracked enough to concentrate on doing his business and them coming back inside. Highly impressed by the cost and functionality. Totally would recommend, unless your dog had super thick hair like a chow. Might not be as effective.TravisS

The collar worked as described. At first we did not think the shock option worked because our dog did not respond. But it turned out that it was working and our dog was not sure how to respond at first. It appears to have a good range and has had a positive impact on several issues we were trying to contain including jumping on people, barking, and digging or tearing up things. The catch to start training against those items is 1) have the dog wearing the collar 2) have the remote nearby when an incident occurs 3) only buzz it whenever the dog is doing something that you are targeting against 4) and have patience We have managed to slow the barking over the course of two weeks. The barking has not completely stopped but it definitely has improved. Now we see an improvement whenever the collar is not even on. The jumping has not stopped as much but that could also be because I have not been consistent with buzzing her whenever she jumps. That is largely because I either do not have the collar on at the time or do not have the remote handy at the time. But I can say when all is lined up and she jumps, the minute I buzz her, she stops jumping. You can see she is raring to go but works hard to contain herself. As for the digging and tearing up things, this is much harder to stop because catching her in the act, while wearing her collar, and while having the remote requires perfect timing and the ability to watch her periodically. We have not had success with this piece. Overall I would say it works and is worth the price. To be truly successful, I think the dog needs two to three weeks of constant training with 3-4 big items. If you want to train her with every command under the sun and do it quickly, good luck. Instead pick the top three and run with it. Do the next three after 2-3 weeks while continuing to reinforce the prior training.Samuel

Used three times and the collar stopped working. The reason I don’t recommend is the customer service, or lack thereof. There is no phone number to call, therefore, I requested a response twice using their preferred online method. I didn’t receive a response on either request. Products fail, I understand that. The quality of a company is determined on how they respond. In this case, the company failed tremendously and I will not purchase another product from them.Ash Noble

Besides that the color is awesome, the collar is easy to use, works as described and if our crazy dogs chews this collar up like he did the last one (I wonder why LOL) we can at least replace the band easily. These collars work great with a little bit of time and training. After a year of use, with supervision, I can now take my dogs (Basenji & G.Shep) outside on our 3 acres without the collars because they have now learned the boundaries. My favorite feature of these collars is the nightlight and the beep function. The nightlight is perfect for going out at night and keeping my eyes on where each dog is located. The beep function is fantastic, my dogs have learned the beep means to turn around and come back. During training I used the shock function (level 8 & I did test the level of intensity on my own leg) only a handful of times when absolutely necessary and it's never used now. Both dogs now respond to the beep and if they're chasing a deer they'll stop to the vibrate function. The two CONS I have with these collars are the rubber covers for the progs come off so easily when the dogs are wrestling and get lost constantly. The other con is that I've had the collars close to a year now and the rechargeable batteries within the device are dying. The collars are on charge constantly now so that they are charged up for when they are needed. The collar dies within about 8 hours before it needs a charge even if it's turned off. Whereas when I first got them the charge lasted about a week. This is after treating them correctly, turning off when not in use and only charging when needed.Elizabeth R.

I have used this collar for 2-3 years now, I went with it as it is one of the highest rated collars when researched. I do run into technical difficulties as you do with anything else and have had no problem with having them replaced. I favorite part is the range and diverse control settings. When my dogs are out of the yard, I just hit the sound button and they know they have went to far and to get back. They come usually immediately. My least favorite part is the product does not seem to last very long.. in the two to three years I’ve used this, I have had to get a few replaced and all with different problems. I recently bought a brand new set of two, and I am very happy. I just have a problem with one of them flashing the green light constantly while the device is on and the battery life on that specific collar does not last. Overall still my favorite collar, although I haven‘t used anything else!Sarah

I love how the vibration & shock can be set from 0-99. The sound tones are also pitched slightly different for each collar & has the option to add a third collar. I’ve had this for months & the battery in the remote lasts extremely long. I think I’ve only charged it once. The collars last days as well. The only thing I wish was easier is the ability to switch over from each channel. When you switch from shock to vibrate, the first click is to switch over, then the second click actually vibrates the collar (& vice versa). When switching over to the other channel, you have to follow the same procedure. Which is fine for normal circumstances. But, when it’s an emergent situation, that extra time it takes to shock/ vibrate the other collar can make a huge difference & lead to a struggle in a stressful situation.Erin
