I have 2 English Bulldogs that can easily destroy any soft , cheap dog toy, and they have! So we have to be very selective when we purchase toys. The Bark orange crush was obviously made by someone who loves and most importantly understands dogs. The toy is designed for destruction, well at least the first layer is. It’s literally like your dog peeling away the “ skins” or an orange, which then reveals an orange solid toy underneath. Well we’re down to the toy underneath and my dogs play with it constantly. Like the package suggests, I like to put treats in the center of the toy which engages my dogs further. My dog had no interest in this, I tossed it rolled it but noting . In reading the instructions it says that the exterior sheath can be chewed away and the inner part used for treats. I couldn't discern how that would be done by looking at the outer casing but it didn't sound good to have my dog chew through the outer casing. The hair does just pull off and it looks like a terribly messy toy but in truth, it is not as bad as it seems. At first was like, what was I thinking but the hair does not fly everywhere; it removes and you just put it in a pile. The razor just vibrates but it does effectively mimic shaving and work to pull the hair off. Towards the end she would pull the remaining pieces off by hand. We have been through the pink and purple version and am back to order the blue one for her birthday. She loves the transformation and three part steps. The second part, the bathing, I let her wash it in the sink, bathing toys in general speaks to some kids and she loved that. The drying part I just wrung the toy out to remove most of the water and let her towel dry. We threw it in the dryer for twenty minutes and let her blow dry on low setting for fun. The nails color change with cold water; included is a mini nail polish bottle you fill with cold water. I guess it does involve a bit of cleanup and extra involved steps as a parent but not as bad as it looks and its sweet how much she loved it.anna
Cute toy and fun to follow steps with my 6 year old. The fur is not attached but mixed into the scruff. The shaver just vibrates as you comb/pull it out in an upward motion. The effect is good though. I think the blue one is the cutest but I was surprised the fur around the muzzle was light beige and not white like the pic( or how I perceived it). I was worried about the step where you wash it after the shave but we didn't soak it and it dried nicely with a warm hairdryer. Use only a tiny bit of soap. Also, there is a step where you stuff a pillowcase with the fur so don't throw it away. I suppose it could be remixed into the scruff to start the process all over again. So my daughter was super happy to open the box and shave her new little pup right away. However, during unboxing I noticed that the fur was ready to fall off. I wanted no part of this so we waited until Mom came home and approved a location for the pup's cut. It really is not as messy as it seems. What a relief. The clippers sound real and fit in her hand nicely. A bag is included in the event you choose to keep the clippings. We opted out as this was a one and done grooming. She bathed her little pup and it was ready to go. She still gives him a trim from time to time as she says his hair is growing. Teaches her responsibility and encourages imaginative play. I wrote a review on this toy in 2014 (under MelH) and would like to provide an update so that Petco gets it together and carries this awesome product again! I wanted to order another one but had to order elsewhere since it is "Out of Stock" (I want my PALS Points!). *SMH* I still have the same "Chuckit! Ultra Duo Tug Dog Toy" that I purchased 2.5 years ago. Now, although it is technically the same, lets be honest, this thing has withstood a lot of abuse, turning it into a well loved and frankly kinda disgusting artifact. That said, with all the hours of level-10 tug we have used this toy for, its has held up REALLY well. The white is more like a Dog-Spit Taupe, and the balls have certainly seen orangier-and-bluier days, but honestly, that's isn't what matters, is it? The fabric is a bit frayed and the balls are missing a few chips of rubber, but this thing is still in one piece, more or less; it is still functional and too legit to quit. This is an awesome enough product that even though it's out of stock I am STILL writing an update. Our Lab loves this toy and we've had it for a few months and she won't put it down. Loves to fetch it and play tug of war with it. The best part is how long it's lasted, cause when she finally pulled the crinkley water bottle out of it she still loved it! Although it is heavier I actually prefer the kong rubber frisbee to this chuck it because it is way more durable. If another dog gets ahold of this one at the park and keeps running away and tearing it up it’s done for. This is my dog's favorite thing EVER. He's a rowdy boxer/lab boy who loves to tug and these frisbees hold up really well. He holds on to it with both his little paws so no one can take it away. I have to replace them every couple months after continuous play. I take it away from him when we're not actively playing with it because he can start to deconstruct it pretty quickly – the green fabric covering frays into a ton of little strings that could be harmful if swallowed, so watch out for that.Of all the toys he has, this is always number one. This is my dog's favorite toy, and one of mine, too. It floats, which is extremely important, since my dog always finds the water, and has lost a number of sinking toys this way (thus polluting the creek). It can be thrown either like a frisbee or rolled on its edge. It is soft enough for her to grab–bending if necessary–and because of this, won't hurt her as she catches it, or if it hits her by accident. It's pretty tough, but I don't recommend giving it to a dog beyond the fetch game: they do eventually shred the materials. But if used only for fetch they last a reasonable amount of time. And they're good enough that, despite the cost, I always end up buying the same brand to replace the one she's destroyed last. Highly recommend!Erika

With new balls, and a new machine, the product is exactly as advertised. After 10 minutes of fetch, the ball is too wet to throw as expected. The ball gets dirty, and the machine does too, creating a muddy internal process. The balls sent with the machine were subpar quality, and lasted about 25 throws a piece before they were starting to come apart. The machine doesn't adjust for ball sizes, so as a tennis ball wears down, the machine can't grab it, and forget about a tennis ball without it's hairy skin, they are too small by far. It's charging good, and working well if I keep putting new tennis balls in it, and run a towel through it, (although that's hard to do.) I suggest a manual adjustment be added to future products, to change the distance between the wheels that grab the ball. I think a tiny tweak on my machine would allow it to through hard rubber balls that wouldn't get nearly as dirty or wet, and keep the machine cleaner. Overall, I think the product is good, but is flawed in design. If there were just a few more capacities to make it work in the field and with different ball sizes, I think it's be a very strong product.Adam T.

Purchased this Chuckit! and am very disappointed. Within two weeks of play it started to fall apart. Mind you, this was not something we let our dog chew, it was only used for fetch. He is a 90 lb German Shepherd which shouldn't make a difference and if it does the company should say so.River Nana
My two labs are really hard on their fetch toys. Most frisbees are destroyed after one play session. They like to play tug-of-war. These frisbees are the best we have found in that they last a couple weeks. They're heavy and don't fly well, so we roll like a tire. I'm still looking for a tougher product, but for now this is the best we've found and my dogs love the rubbery ridges around the outside.CDRoam
