I got our first ball second hand, through a family friend. My dog absolutely loved it, but it was a bit too big for him. I got my puppy (now 1.5 yrs) a small and medium ball to see which size would be better. The medium is the perfect one! He enjoys playing with it every day! He loves it. It's his outdoor toy. He would go all day if we let him. We've had it for about 3 years now and it's pretty sun faded and has plenty of teeth marks in it. Also started developing a crack on the one hole, but otherwise its been incredibly durable. My partner can kick it hard across the yard in steel toes and it hasn't broken yet (that's probably what the crack is from). It has caused his gums to bleed a handful of times so maybe beware of that just because of the hard plastic if your pup is a tough chewer/biter, but otherwise my dog would literally kill for this toy. I read these other reviews where the dogs go wild for the toy! I have three dogs at home, and none were interested in this toy. They were excited until I threw the ball on the ground. They all took turns pawing at it, and within 45 seconds the dogs were playing with the old toys. The toy itself is built well. The plastic outer ball seems chew-resistant and the inner ball seems sturdy. There is no issue with the toy itself, but my dogs did not fit the status quo in enjoying this selection.KatieMD

Kongs are great dog toys, unless you have serious chewers in your four-legged family. The holes in this biscuit ball make it easier for extreme chewers to tear apart. On the other side, it's a good option to keep your canine busy if you aren't worried about destruction. Try filling with peanut butter versus treats for longer lasting entertainment.jessica.b

My dog loves this ball whether I put treats in it or not. She destroys tennis balls and anything breakable. This ball is thick hard rubber material that withstands her hard play. She will play by herself with this ball during her down times during the day. Bella is a mid sized English Shepherd and this sized ball is perfect for her. I have a English Lab and this would be his 3rd Kong toy. I have: 1. The old fashioned Kong (looks sort of like a michelin man in red) 2. The Small solid Red Kong Ball. I liked the idea of the hollow ball, because Mirrors, etc. have been broken from the solid ball. Well, about 3 hours after I gave Major this ball, he had eaten the bone holes into round circles, and on his way to eating the whole ball. Not a Good Product If you dog has good teeth! Our rescue is a border collie and australian cattle dog mix. She has always been very timid and we've never been able to find a toy she likes. We did notice however she spent all her free time trying to herd our other dog. We got her this and took to it immediately, she absolutely loves this. It is so wonderful to find a toy that she finally enjoys! And might save our other dog from constantly being herded. She herded it with her nose from the start rather than her teeth, so the issue of it getting sharp from chewing is not a problem for her.Alex

This is hands down our most coveted toy. Our dog Captain is a 100lb American Bulldog who destroys everything…but this! Ball is made of a very durable and hard rubber. The one I bought is bigger than a tennis ball, but my 65lb goldador-newfie pup can hold it in her mouth easily. She enjoys playing fetch with it or catching it when it bounces high in the air. I also like that there is a rather big hole on the side that I use to throw the ball to avoid all the drool or whatever nastiness is on the ground of the dog park. Because it is hard rubber it gets a lot of bounce. I also like to fling it against a concrete wall and it just bounces all over the place. On top of that I see no damage besides scuff marks that usually just wash away.ghostchili

My previous dog chewed everything and successfully destroyed everything, EXCEPT the Kong Ball. He never was able to even make a mark. We have a new dog who also likes to eat everything but again has failed to damage it in any way. It has a great bounce to it and she loves it. Sometimes in minutes. Tennis balls are cheap enough to replace, but they can wear on their teeth and cause damage. Other balls pose a choking or obstruction hazard because the dogs will tear them into pieces and potentially swallow them. I started to feel like I was running out of safe options to satisfy their obsession and then I discovered the Kong Ball. I picked one up for the dogs one day when I saw them at the local feed store. It was a little pricey, but I figured, if it was as durable as it claimed, it'd pay off in the long run. And it has. It's been 8 months, and while the ball shows a little wear and tear, it's still in one piece, and the dogs have great fun with it. The only con is that it's not very bouncy, and it's a little too heavy for playing fetch with, but if you roll it for them to chase that seems to satisfy them. Definitely worth the money! My German Shepherds will destroy things if I give them a chance. They ALL ( I have 3) love these balls! The rope could be bigger or come with bigger knots,,,, I add a knot to keep the rope from coming out. But the balls are great fun! My dogs favorite toys. That being said, These are toys that need to be used with humans. If you just leave the dog to his own devices he will chew it apart. Simple solution is to play with your dog. When not in use you should put it up. But the fun is well worth the money and they will last if you are a responsible pet owner.DAWN

YAS! AMAZING! We throw this sucker on a tennis court and it won't break, the only complaint I have that isn't the balls fault but maybe you should think about before you buy this one is that our boys face gets very bloody pushing this around. So we looked into Holly's soft version and we will be getting that one shortly. The only reason I bought this ball was because it allegedly had a squeaker. Maybe if you could get an elephant to stand on it the ball would emit a noise. Otherwise a very silent and disappointing experience for my dog and my pocketWhipgrass

It is a chew toy that has lasted well to date. I was advised by another Dobermann owner that it was annoying due to the loud noise it produces, but also that it has been really durable. Both have proven to be correct.ukdiverbob

Let’s just say he loves his balls! Anything round he will chase, doesn’t matter how big or small. But the best ones are the ones that can fit in his mouth, and these are perfect for him. None of the rubber balls ever break apart or are ripped by him despite him playing with it everyday. I’d say he is not a heavy/strong chewer, more on the light/weak side, which makes them last a long time. Why a 4 Star if you say he loves it so much?? That is because the squeakers in them are weak or perhaps I just got a defective one. Apparently, All the squeaks in the balls were working. Then once I gave to him one of the balls, 5min later the squeaker broke inside. The others are working fine when I squeeze them, (have yet to give it to him) but would have like to be expecting they will hold up rather than how soon they will break.Matsue2012

Love the toss and tug! My Goldens and Dobies always adore these great floating toys. This toy is NOT a chew toy. Nothing lasts forever. If your dog like to destroy things either monitor them or don't buy this. My dogs love jumping into the pool after them and they last a few years. I bought this a day ago. Loaded it with treats and watched my little pup walk it through the living room. Watched little trails of red plastic litter the floor within the first five minutes. My dogs LOVE this more than any kong toy. They just need to update it to be a sturdy material like the other kong items. It lasted 2-3 months but eventually the dogs tore it to shreds. Literally shreds. I would still re buy it though due to how many hours use we got out of it. But I would rather spend a little more for a better version of this that is just not as prone to being torn up (as other reviewers mentioned and posted pics of, this is eventually what happened to ours, too). I filled with some dog food mixed with some soft training sized treats to really get their attention. Wouldn’t put peanut butter or anything like that in this. Would use it more as a feeder toy with dry or soft treats or food. Not wet though as the hole would be too small for the dogs to be able to get anything like that out. The weighted feeder ball is a great, indestructible similar option to this if you’re needing something to keep them busy for a longer period, it doesn’t break or get torn up, and can be used to feed a full meal as capacity is much bigger. With almost every king toy I always buy up 2 sizes. There’s a lot of reasons but especially due to the smaller ones being easily torn apart. My dogs just prefer the bigger ones anyway. PLEASE NOTE: it’s important to always remove any toys, feeders, bones, or bowls of food if the pup isn’t currently eating, or playing with the item. They’ll learn bad behavior like grazing, guarding, etc. and it can make it very hard for owners to notice when pets are unwell. (Google for more info). This arrived on Friday and by Friday night after my 7 month old Jack Russell Puppy had used it one with kibble in it, it was unsafe. She started to chew little pieces off it and we have had to take it off her. I thought that being a Kong product it would be durable but it wasn't. She did not have it as a toy. it was just used for her kibble to keep her busy while we were eating.JUDY

The ball is certainly great for standard use if your dog is just about playing fetch or chasing the ball around. But if your dog is a strong chewer, these tennis balls are not durable. I have a two year old Siberian Husky who loves to chew on things, including her tennis balls after she gets tired of chasing them around. She’s torn several of these Petco tennis balls into pieces in a matter of minutes, versus a gently used regular tennis ball that we found in the yard that took her well over a month to even pierce and split in half. The only reason I keep giving her the Petco tennis balls is because I bought several at once and want to use them up before I buy regular tennis balls. On the plus side, my husky continues to play with the torn up ball even after it’s already been obliterated so she gets at least a solid day out of it. But otherwise, if you have a strong chewer who likes tennis balls, I suggest just splurging a little for the more durable athletic tennis balls. They’ll last longer.Kaycee_InTheMiddle

I purchased this ball last week. It was the perfect size to teach my dogs to play fetch. My dachshund, Max, is ahead of the class since he is the only one that actually goes to fetch the ball. His siblings just chase him and try to get the ball from him. I guess his version is called "tag the doxie". Lol. Go with the flow. This is my favorite dog toy. I got it used from a friend who's dog had enjoyed it for many years before me, and it was still in great shape. My dog has had it now for three years, and he's very destructive to toys, but this is the only toy he has NOT been able to destroy. He plays with it for hours every day, chewing it viciously. It's full of tooth marks and punctures by now, but none has broken off, and it's still round and fully functional after probably about 15 years of heavy use. Highly recommended.Miriam

I am so glad you asked. I have had two of these balls before and left them at my old residence for some other dogs to enjoy. They lasted for years and even after being punctured they still held their shape. The handledles were a SOLID material. MY current new pup after getting over being terrified of it has now after just a short time eaten most of the handle. The handle is not solid material inside. I am very dissapointed since this was a wonderfull toy and about the only one that my dogs could bot distroy. I hope the company rethinks any cost cutting they may have done and bring back the old quality Jolly Ball. I will buy another one when that happened. I LOVE these toys not only does it put up with my 130 pound (and growing) pup but it also got ran over the other day… by a 30,000 pound zoomboom 🤦‍♀️ We thought it was done for, it was smushed and in the mud but when we cleaned it off it re-inflated!! No holes or anything! Thank god too because my boy loves his and so does his mini horse friend 😝! My dog likes to pop holes in toys and rip others apart but he never can with this one, he smooshes it so the air makes a sound then it fills back up! My 80lb Staffie/Boxer mix absolutely LOVES this toy. It lasted much longer than normal toys – 7 days rather than 20-minutes. But he eventually managed to keep at it until he got some teeth makes in it and then he had the end chewed off a couple days later. Good ball for my crew. Generally tough, though the staffy can fracture one in a couple days. They are expensive for what they are. I purchased 2 of these balls one for my bulldog and one for my nephew cane Corso. I have to say they both rough it it with the ball and it's still in tact. After 4 months I'm replacing the rope not because it's broken but it's been through the wringer and mud. I highly recommend this ball. It's durability is amazing.Mirna M.

Our miniature daschunds destroy every toy in seconds. This one however has lasted almost two weeks! They still managed to strip the internal tennis ball and split it open so it doesn't squeak, but the softer rubber external part continues entertain them.Christopher
