Rechargeable Dog Training Collar For Sale (2024 Update)

I have an adopted fur-baby that had a lot of control and behavior issues. Training, the usual way was just not working. I tried this and, within one day, the disruptive behavior (running and tearing up things in the house, jumping from one piece of furniture to another, non-stop barking) all stopped. He began with sitting, immediately after only two "vibrations" of the collar. By the end of the week, all I had to do was take out the remote control, say the words of sit, stay, no and wait, and he did so. Now, I don't have to use the remote at all but just say the words. I will tell you that, under no circumstances would I recommend the "shock" feature. Because it is easily changed on this model, by accident, I found out, the hard way just how much it hurts the animal. If you click MODE, by accident, from it being on vibrate, it switches over to Shock. BE VERY CAREFUL when you are about to use the Y button, for sound or vibration as, if it's on shock–and this was the very low setting–the dog whelps loudly and jumps, shakes, etc. I would not recommend it for any animal lover as, I don't even want to know what it feels like. Because the vibration is strong, even on low settings, and the other setting of "beep" is a high frequency sound, I found them the most effective. Thebeep sound is for Guiness (my new family member) to come–I use the vibration for correction, when needed. Guiness was the most difficult dog that I have worked with and I have behavioral training for dogs, which I have used for all of my pets. If this worked on him, it will work on most dogs that have behavioral issues. I would recommend it for the vibration and sound settings–and hope to get one that doesn't have the shock setting as, I feel that is just inhumane to use on a dog (my opinion after seeing how he reacted, on just a low setting). PLEASE USE CAREFULLY until you are used to the remote. That is my only advice when purchasing this for training.kelly4jesus

I am, so far, very happy with the design of the collar and remote handset. I especially like that you can do either vibrate OR static corrections with this set, AND can adjust the level of stimulation, immediately, for each. My only complaint is that the slide on clip is NOT useful. It does not grab either a collar, belt, or pocket, to any real degree. It slips off easily and drops to the ground, to be either lost or damaged. It would be better to design a stronger spring clip or clamp that is stronger. Because it continues to fall from where it is clipped, I am forced to hold it in my hand continually. Giving the dog a visual cue that I have control handy. It is more useful for the dog no not be able to connect such an association. Putting it in my pocket results in a possible inadvertent correction to the dog unnecessarily. Although I like many aspects of this product, and being a professional dog trainer, it would be nice to be able to recommend an affordable, good quality product. But because of the handset clip, I hesitate to do so. If this design was addressed, I would recommend it.dpcclm

My dog used to jump on anyone that came over and she was hard headed about listening. Been using for about a month now and have only shocked her once (on level 2) and now she listen with or with out wearing collar. We still put it on her every day and especially if company is coming over, but she knows when she hears the beep she's gone to far in pushing her luck. Most of time beep gets back in line and if not vibrate does. Can't beleave we waited so long to get one. Now friends and family can come over again and we don't worry about her jumping up on our guest particularly little kids. We put it on her in the morning and take it off before bed time and turn collar off at night and battery will last almost 2 weeks on collar before charging (wonted to see how long battery would last between charges) , Generally now we charge it once a week over night and haven't had it die yet while she's been wearing it. Can't say how water proof it is at this point haven't allowed her in the water with it yet. Only complaint is as others have stated it's easy to change channels on transmitter if your not paying attention. But have gotten used to looking at transmitter before pushing button. Besides If your going from Beep to vibrate your gonna wanna see what you have it set to before you use transmitter again, so I don't find it that big of a deal.jnmpatterson4

We have a golden retriever that we have tried to train, but unfortunately she remains completely out of control. We decided to try a chock collar as a last resort and decided on this one because the specs seemed really good for the price. It has worked so great. We are still in the process of training, but having this reinforces what we are teaching her and we are finally seeing progress! We are planning on getting a second dog when we are feeling like we have this one under control, so having two separate shock collars that can both be controlled by one remote will be really convenient! absolute junk! I domt know how they claim this is water proof when tape is used on the connection board inside the housing of the collar. I have no idea what it was securing, but I suspect it had something to do with when the unit is being charged. I have 2 chihuahua's and even at level 30 they didn't respond. I only used it for a short while and put it away for winter. When I tried to use it again just recently in the spring I discovered the units didn't work. I guess the scotch tape lost its adhesiveness I bought a pet safe system and level one gave me the result I needed.martha

This really worked awesome. I have a 3 year old golden retriever who constantly barked all day and night. Neighbors called animal control about the barking and they came to our home and warned us. Then a week or two later that neighbor came over and knocked at the door. Said his family was up all night because of the barking.. our dog barked at anything and went ballistic when spotting another dog or cat… We thought there was no hope. So we bought this collar and within two days (using the vibration ~ Not shock) he has completely stopped barking. It has been amazing. I would recommend this to anyone having similar problems. Product initially worked well. Combination of tone, vibration, and shock works well for training. My golden retriever responded well. Unfortunately the second time I went to charge the collar, the connection between the collar and the charger would not make contact. I chatted with cabelas and asked if they could send me a new charger dongle and they said I wanted that option I would need to work directly with Garmin. They gave me the option to return by mail, but I didn't want to be without the collar for that long. Instead I drove to the store to exchange it but they did not have the model available in the store. I returned it at the store and ordered a replacement on line. I bought this collar about a year ago, and it is still just as effective and powerful today. This has all of the capabilities I need for training and enjoying my time with my dog. With the multi-collar functionality, it’s also great for people who own multiple dogs as you would just need a new collar and program it to a different color code switch. My dog can go swimming, get dirty, muddy, get hosed off, and the collar still works like a charm. I am extremely impressed. The handheld remote also floats (I fell into the lake once with it, and it floated just fine) For anyone looking for a durable and functional collar that will last forever, this is it.Skeet999

We bought this a couple months ago! Best investment we ever made! Our dog doesn't like the neighbours dog and would bark like crazy every time he was out in the yard. put the ecollar on him and only had to use the shock button a couple times and it stopped the bad behaviour in its tracks! Love it! The only thing I noticed was the collar became unpaired from the remote after we took him to the lake to swim. But it was very easy to pair up again, just by reading the instructions in the manual. Very happy with this purchase.jackflash72

As far as the tone and vibration the product works well. But the shocking feature seems to run the battery down very quick. I can usually get about 4 corrective shocks out of the receiver before the range decreases dramatically and then 1-2 closer shocks before they loose all effectiveness but the tone and vibration will still work. Works well when it works, but I am very disappointed with battery life and range loss.Reaux

The collar works very well. I do not know if it is the collar or my dog, but the shock button is rarely used because the vibration seems to work with her. She is a 8 month old golden retriever/blue heeler mix but she had the behavior of the blue heeler and very active. She is behaving like a totally different dog. Thank you so much.Nannie P

Works as described however there is a major design flaw that if you install the spring clip it covers up the USB charging port. You have to uninstall the spring to charge the collar.Vee77

First I want to say that if you are going to use a training collar you read, follow, and refer to the enclosed directions so you know what to do and how everything works. Don’t just charge this item up and test features on the go. Knowing how the product works and how to work it, makes this item very user friendly and with common sense can do very well for the consumer and his/her pet. There is a little dog shaped info card in the box and it has a you tube channel link to it and these are very nice if you prefer to watch these sorts of things for more information on the product. I have used a different collar from this same company for my bloodhound with tremendous success. Keep in mind that he’s 100 lbs. and only a year old. This device when I used it worked very well. I substituted this collar for a number of walks/training sessions and use it when around the house and not in hunting/tracking related environments that tend to be a little harsher than the home and surrounding area. I did not use this collar out to or over 300 yards which it is rated for but did test it out to approximately 150 yards (line of sight) and it worked without any issue. I charged the remote and the receiver until they were fully charged before I first uses it. The charging cords and plug-in are very simple and easy to use and I had no issues. This entire system is travel friendly. The receiver and collar fit well on even my large breed (large neck) dog and the collar is easily adjustable and not to narrow and will be adequate for large to small breeds. I would recommend that if you have a dog that is extra-large/giant and known to pull or plow while on a lead that you use a different collar along with this training collar. The D-ring on this collar was not used for lead attachment with my large dog who is sometimes a puller, but was sturdy when I examined it and snapped a lead onto it and I believe would work as an all-around good collar with the receiver for medium to smaller size dogs. I would not fasten any ID tags to this collar since it is recommended and anyone using a training collar knows to not have this on your animal all the time (maximum 12 hours). The receivers different sized contacts or screws easily can be attached and changed and hold their place (always check on them after you take off and before using again – any contact on any receiver can come loose with wear and time). When testing the shock stimulus on the receiver, the test light is easy to use and functional. The receiver continues to hold a good charge even for being used (mostly alert tone) and stored when not in use, same with the transmitter. I found the small LED light on the receiver to be useful but not an adequate location finder. I have a clip-on separate flashing LED light I use during low light environments. This feature saves you from having to make that purchase and is functional with this receiver, but the further distance you have from your dog, the less useful this feature is. If your dog has really long hair the LED light on the receiver may be completely hindered but overall even in the dark or low light it was a smart feature of this product. Pairing the receiver and transmitter was very easy (just follow the directions). The transmitter was a little small for my big hands but my wife liked it just fine. The side buttons used for adjusting stimulus strength up and down were small for me, but I had no issues. We did use this collar when it was drizzling outside and by no means a downpour but there was no issue with the water resistance of the transmitter or receiver with standard use (note the transmitter is not listed as water resistant but the receiver is). I liked the LED light function on the transmitter and when in the dark or low light, it is kind of handy to have just to see around your general area both indoors and outside. The transmitter is user friendly and functional, the display is easy to read and its icons and numbers are easy to recognize and to know what you are doing. The settings for the stimulus is from 0 -100 giving you a wide range of selection for how the stimulus is applied and can be very useful depending on your pet. I also like the function that you can pair more than one receiver to the transmitter. This is handy when you have and want to use the training collar with two dogs at once. I recommend buying another receiver if you don’t have two in your original purchase, either for two dogs or to have a collar on standby in case your battery dies and you need or want to use the collar and don’t want to wait for a recharge. The recharge is relatively fast though and is within or around 2 hours for full recharge. One thing to note is the smart, standby technology the receiver has. It goes on standby after 20 seconds of no operation and after 20 minutes will shut off. Also, the receiver if on your pet is not used for 4 minutes it goes into standby mode until there is movement and then will automatically turn back oBHMK

Initially didnt think it would work on my pit digging by the fence. The receiver comes with three different size / length "prongs" that are covered in rubber for your dogs protection. The shortest one is what came on it and it didnt seem to be reaching through his hair and touching skin. I moved up one size and it is totally effective. I hardly ever use the shock. I simply use the beeper and if he keeps digging I used the vibrate which is similar to your cell on vibrate but more extreme. He immediately stops and tries to figure out what is going on. That little bit gets him sidetracked enough to concentrate on doing his business and them coming back inside. Highly impressed by the cost and functionality. Totally would recommend, unless your dog had super thick hair like a chow. Might not be as effective.TravisS

The collar worked as described. At first we did not think the shock option worked because our dog did not respond. But it turned out that it was working and our dog was not sure how to respond at first. It appears to have a good range and has had a positive impact on several issues we were trying to contain including jumping on people, barking, and digging or tearing up things. The catch to start training against those items is 1) have the dog wearing the collar 2) have the remote nearby when an incident occurs 3) only buzz it whenever the dog is doing something that you are targeting against 4) and have patience We have managed to slow the barking over the course of two weeks. The barking has not completely stopped but it definitely has improved. Now we see an improvement whenever the collar is not even on. The jumping has not stopped as much but that could also be because I have not been consistent with buzzing her whenever she jumps. That is largely because I either do not have the collar on at the time or do not have the remote handy at the time. But I can say when all is lined up and she jumps, the minute I buzz her, she stops jumping. You can see she is raring to go but works hard to contain herself. As for the digging and tearing up things, this is much harder to stop because catching her in the act, while wearing her collar, and while having the remote requires perfect timing and the ability to watch her periodically. We have not had success with this piece. Overall I would say it works and is worth the price. To be truly successful, I think the dog needs two to three weeks of constant training with 3-4 big items. If you want to train her with every command under the sun and do it quickly, good luck. Instead pick the top three and run with it. Do the next three after 2-3 weeks while continuing to reinforce the prior training.Samuel

We were initially worried that this product might not be the best for our little schnauzer, but it has proved to be very effective without hampering his socialising. He has quickly learned that he shouldn’t bark when wearing the collar. He wears it for short periods, as per the comprehensive instructions. Stopped the shrill barking in 2 hours! Seven-month-old GSD lost her mind in her crate when you were doing anything but paying attention to her. This allowed her to learn quickly and now we associate the 'quiet' command when she stops. We've had the collar less than 24 hours. disappointed. Its a poor design. The rounded part (NOT the part against the dogs neck) is what really vibrates. My dog (35lb spaniel) doesn't seem to feel it! Also "high" vs "low" setting – Low is slow, High is faster, but still not vibrating MORE! I intend to try to put it on some other way adn trying more, but so far totally useless. I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Here we are 1 week from the day I bought it and my dog's behavior has completely changed. Everytime I let him out to potty, I'll put his collar on and no unnecessary barking from him. I have had this for a few weeks and I'm very happy. New puppy did not want to listen this is a great tool because you have the beep the vibration and the shock.I have never had to use anything but the beep most of the time and the vibration once in awhile have never used the shock. It works great would highly recommend. never have to touch the dog, or raise your voice.MacPetri

It's high quality; so, it means durability and efficiency. My dog's trainer, well…, he's training me…, to use it correctly and create an excellent communication/relationship. This is an amazing product, once fitted properly it works perfectly and now my dog has loads more freedom off lead especially in high wildlife areas (that is mostly in our town boundary). The Dogtra Arc collar is just what my American Treeing Feist, 11 month puppy needed. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around. Following the instructions (even in Chinglish) resulted in just what was advertised: vibrations and a sonic tone that has reduced both the frequency and volume of barking by our 9-year old yapper.
