Our new pup now almost 1 1/2 years old, was a barking machine. Hard to control or stop. We got this hoping that would help and it has. Our dog has a LOT of fur and it was hard to get contact but when that issue was resolved we noticed the barking decreased within a day or two. When we took off the collar, there was a tendency for our dog to ramp up again but once it was back on, the excess barking stopped. The dog has now figured out, collar on, no barking. Collar off, barking some is ok. Hopefully that goes away with time. Next we need to work on whining, sigh…Mossman1

The PetSafe Bark Collar has been a tremendous help with our Australian Shepard who loved to bark at anything and everything from dusk until dawn. We put the collar on right away and it started working immediately for him. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all. I think it startled him more than anything but he is fine. We are able to take him on walks now and to the park . The kids are not scared of him anymore and we can actually talk to each other calmly without having to get frustrated trying to talk over his barking. I read all the reviews on a lot of bark collars and the PetSafe Barking Collar – PBC17-16635 by far had the best reviews. After talking with my husband we decided to purchase. Once received we read the instruction manual and did as it said but no matter what we did nothing was working. I emailed and Jason sent through a video lnk which gave us more of a clearer understanding of what to do. Upon following those instructions I cant fault it. She still barks but it is only once and sometimes we put it on here and don't even turn it on and it still works. Thanks again Jason for helping us figure it out.Tarryn B.

Purchased this collar from Chow Down pet supplies. It had absolutely zero effect on my dog. He completely ignored whatever sound was coming from the device. I threw this away and got a much pricier static correction collar that has customizable settings. No comparison, much more effective… don't waste your money on cheap pet safe products.D Cooper

When I first got my puppy at 6 months old he would constantly bark. I was told at the store this is not a very good bark training collar, but if I wanted something inexpensive to try it and if it didn’t work I could return it. I was then hesitate that it didn’t work, but still tried it and loved it! Every time he barked you could see the light flash on it. 1 downfall is the collar can be easily rotated around the neck no matter how tight you have it if the scratches at it. It needs to be kept in the front of the dogs neck, and as high up the neck as possible. So you have to keep adjusting it, but I also found it shocks them if they are doing something they aren’t supposed to, and when you yell loudly at them it shocks them as well. So it serves a multipurpose of bark control, and obedience. I only had to use it on my dog for less than a week, and he stopped the constant barking, chewing, and was 100% more obedient! I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on training collars, or bark collars! Worked great!Lauj

my dog can’t even shake his head without getting a correction. Almost any sound cause him to get a correction so it is scary and confusing for him. It would be nice if there was a sensitivy adjustment but the collar as designed is not helpful. The average bark of a dog compared to the sounds that are setting this off are not the same and all will cause the dog anxiety due to the false stimulations.Heather52

I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! Amazing product!!! I have a beautiful groodle, well trained and loved dearly. But her barking was out of control. Kids couldn't play ball without the constant barking. Researching and ordering the collar from the Bark Control website was seamless. The bark collar was received in short time via Australia Post Express. It appears to be well made and fairly robust. Operation of and fitting the collar is easy, directions are included and are simple to follow. We've had no barking complaints from our neighbours since changing to this collar so I guess it's working. it's far superior to our previous vibration type which was pretty much useless on our cattle dog. I got this bark collar for my two dogs and it worked wonderfully for a few months. They completely stopped barking! But then, the battery wouldn't stay charged. I was told that I might be doing something wrong that ruined the battery. Customer Service was uber helpful (5 stars for them!) and they sent me a new collar for free. I ended up going through five collars in just a few months with the same problem each time. The rechargeable battery is the only problem with this product, but it is a huge problem. When I finally asked Customer Service if they had any spray collars with a different type of battery, they directed me to the Elite Spray Bark Collar. When I got the collar they only had the one for little dogs, but it still works amazingly for my big dogs! It does all the same things as the rechargeable one except that it uses non-rechargeable batteries. These batteries last way longer than the rechargeable one though so it's a win-win! I highly suggest looking at the Elite Spray Bark Collars!!!NIKKI 😉

Supposed to have 35-45 sprays but it sure didn’t. We put the collar on him and angled the camera so we could watch him and try to train him to stop. He barked and it sprayed. He continued to bark. It continued to spray. It shut off like it’s supposed to. We went in and the whole place smelled like citronella. We walked back out after trying to calm him. He barked and it sprayed. He kept barking and then it stopped spraying and started flashing that it was out. The. Citronella cartridge only had maybe 5-8 sprays. We had to leave for a few hours that afternoon and we put the unscented cartridge in. After being gone for only an hour or two it was empty as well. We watched video of him and he continued to bark through the sprays. It had no effect. However, it also only had maybe 10ish sprays in it total. The cartridges aren’t worth the money as they don’t have what they are supposed to have in them. The collar was not worth the money as the spray didn’t even phase our dog. Maybe it works for others but it didn’t do anything for us apart from leave a citronella smell in the air for a few minutes.MarkD504

For starters I am not a person who usually leaves reviews but this product deserves it! I bought two of these collars for my two of my noisier dogs. I have tried everything to control their barking – trying to distract them with treats, spraying them with water to correct the behaviour, using high frequency clicker and using a training collar that I would beep if they barked as a warning and then it would vibrate if they barked again. None of these worked so I gave up for a bit, until I saw this collar come up as I was researching new collars to try – I decided to give it a shot since it was different than the methods I have previously tried. My god, it is incredible! I put the collar on my noisiest dog, a terrier, (his barking is out of control) and he barked once and it sprayed him and he has not barked since – I went from having him bark at every little sound he heard outdoors to peace and quiet. I love this product and I highly recommend it! P.S. It also works for my other dog, my terrier just gets her hyped up with his barking but now they are my quiet little hellhounds 🙂lbll12

Let me prequalify this by saying that I am a fan of PetSafe Products. The Stay and Play Wireless fence and the Large Dog Citronella Anti-Bark Collars have worked flawlessly for my medium size indoor/outdoor pup. I also have a 1.5 year old Yorkie, and the PetSafe Elite Little Dog Spray Bark Control has design and operational flaws that I can't overlook: 1. The unit's sensor is not a typical rear sensor, and it doesn't pick-up normal barking unless it is high intensity (this is WHEN it works). 2. The unit does not last for the full amount of sprays. 3. The unit has to be at a high level of tightness to the point of almost choking the dog to remain in place in order to be correctly positioned to both pick-up the barking and deliver the spray. 4. The unit does not have an ON/OFF switch other than turning the battery, and then you have to manipulate even that when wanting to reset the bark counter. The bark counter should be reset in the electronics when the battery is removed if that's the case and reflect this in the refill directions for the spray. At the end of the day, I have use spray collars for my outdoor dog at my home for years, so I am familiar with the quirks. I have remained faithful to PetSafe, and they never let me down. The Elite Little Dog Spray collar is not up to their usually high standards. I have bought one, exchanged one, and bought another to give this product a fair chance, and I am heading to Petco this morning to return the last one as a disappointed customer. I have moved to an apartment from a home in the process of building a new house, so it is imperative that I be able to reinforce that excess barking is not acceptable. I bought two of these and neither of them worked. The first one worked for about a week of occasional use. Then it started leaking a steady, tiny hiss of spray from the intake hole. Months later, on a road trip w/now 2 small dogs I picked up 2 of the older, silver models that use the 6 volt batteries. They still work great (2 years later, intermittent use for overnights away from home or having exciting visitors that the dogs celebrate vocally, Enthusiastically, unceasingly. Also for occasional backyard relaxing if the neighbor kids get the dogs too excited.) I shared one with my sister for her dog on a hotel overnight and it was a revelation to her. I tried to buy her one but can only find the new “elites” with that proprietary battery so I caved, hoping the leaky one I had was a fluke. I got a few inconsistent sprays out of it, many barks without spray, then it just quit completely. I tried a new battery, refilled the spray and The lights did their thing correctly when I followed the steps to turn it on. Then I tested it by loudly barking right up against The back of it, tapping the back of it, holding it against my own throat and trying different tones of loud singing and yelling… nothing. I’ve wasted too much $ on the bad new design ones that don’t work. I really wish I could get another old silver model one to give my 4 legged niece. Obviously the requirement of a $15 proprietary battery makes this PetSafe’s preferred model to make, regardless of it’s consistent failure to function. Disappointing.JenMN

We've been using this bark collar on our German Shepherd and it's working! He barks at everyone out the front window or while on car rides and his bark is very loud. I've tried other collars in the past that give off a beeping noise and can be controlled by a remote control, but that beeping sound scares my mini poodle too much so we had to stop using it. I was excited to try this collar knowing it releases a different type of sound. So far it distracts the GSD and works to deter him from barking. This product does exactly what I expected it to do. It starts with small warning shocks, then works up to stronger ones if my dog continues to bark. Although, it did not take very long for my dog to understand that his barking is what is being corrected! On the first day of its use, he is walking SO much better on leash. He used to bark aggressively and pull anytime he saw people or other dogs, but now he acts like they don't exist and walks calmly! I feel extremely relieved going on walks now. The collar itself is made of a bendable plastic-like material that is waterproof, which is really nice considering we live in Washington where it rains a lot! I love that the power button has a light that lets me know when I need to charge it. We have a small dog that loves to bark at anything and everything. This works great at keeping her quite all day. It is easy to adjust to the right size and just finding the right level that works for your dog is easy. The instructions are easy to follow and you will have it ready in no time at all. Just recharge it when you do not have it on your dog and it will be good to go the next time. I just put it on him when it is needed and rest of the time he is quiet as can be. Purchased this 5 days ago, and have found it to work great! Just after putting it on first time, Curly barked his head off when family drove over for outside visit. I readjusted the fit after that, and has been working very well. When Curly’s normal bug triggers happen ( delivery man), he has let out one big bark.., then just rather cute little woofs. I’m happy he can still communicate, but has learned to use his ‘inside voice’! I’m careful and follow directions to avoid any potential negatives, like always off at least 12 hours per day. I bought this collar a few months ago for my lab (85 lbs). It was easy to put on the dog, and it didn't seem to hurt him. It did slide but I think it was to big at first. the battery part I needed to remove but it worked after a few tries. It was effective for about 2 weeks and then I think the dog ended up tolerating the vibration. So now it doesn't work at all. I couldn't return it because I did not have the box, receipt and it was out of the return policy.Winston816

Our two westies have had barking issues in the past. Just the random barking when neighbours make noise, bins get collected, someone at door etc. We have tried other collars in the past and they never worked! Finally now we have a solution! These collars worked instantly. One bark and since they felt the first vibration, then haven’t had them bath since! We will leave these collars on them full time. Have had the best results with this bark collar (Dogtra YS300). I used it on myself to test and it scared me for sure! But DID NOT HURT AT ALL. I adopted a Maltese Terrier end of last year and he barked like a maniac! I cannot handle barking for no reason! Anyway, I ended up having to go up to number 4 because his barking urge was so strong. We wish we bought this sooner! Our little Kelpie girl was relentless with her barking she would bark at anything that moved. After a not so great interaction with a neighbour we were at our wits end and decided to purchase the collar. It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. Battery life not best, no off switch for remote, and you can only do 2 choices quickly (tone and vibrate or tone and static) only negatives. We use tone and static due to our dogs thick fur/ response.WMA6

I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! Purchased for my bull arab (50kg) who goes barking mad on the way to the beach in the tray of the ute. It's only excitement but upsets all other dogs around. I only put it on 3-4 and he barked once, then was quiet for the rest of the ride. Haven't tried in in water (especially salty water as the last collar perished because of this) but it's easy to put on and remove so not a hassle when we get there. Also very sturdy.Ingrid B.

Exactly what i was after Only ever have had to use it on level 2 and it has shocked my dog maybe twice and she doesn’t really bark much at all anymore. I only have to put it on every now and again if she gets barky again but it’s made an amazing difference in our home. Our dogs were barking all day everyday and we live on a corner block so whenever anyone walked past they would bark their heads off and wake the baby. Now they walk to the fence and sniff. We have a very very stubborn German Shepherd male who barks through all of the cheaper collars we have bought him. I swear he barks at the wind or an ant crawling past the gate it was unbearable and many many sleepless nights. We bought the Dogtra YS600 and had to buy longer prongs as his hair is SO thick. Setting 1 and 2 did not do anything so we turned it up to level 3 and he barked and let out a big Yelp! And was quiet straight away. I have turned it back down to 1 to see if it will do anything and he barked again and let out a big Yelp again. I am not going to turn it up any higher I cannot believe this works!! This is the best investment I can now study in peace and we can get a full night sleep! He is like a different dog I cannot believe it and would recommend for anyone with a super stubborn dog!Samantha K.

I purchased the bark collar a few weeks ago now and have found it's worked really well in training our German Shepherd. She's an excited 4yr old who doesn't seem to grow out of the puppy stage! She would bark at birds, people walking past, neighbours in their yards, our cars pulling in….. etc and generally driving everyone crazy. We tried stopping the barking by putting on a bark muzzle each time she barked however you couldn't leave it on when you went out for the day and so it was never consistent. The first week of using the bark collar she seemed abit depressed, not running around like her usual self, now though she's used to it and back to her active self without barking! The only issues we've had is the collar does move, she's a long haired German Shepherd and I feel I have to do the collar up very tight to keep the contact between prongs and skin even though they're the long prongs, the only other issue was once after barking in response to the collar she yelped and it set the bark collar off again and became a cycle of yelping/zapping, fortunately we were able to get to her quickly and take the collar off to stop the cycle because it was horrific when it happened. We haven't had any further occurrences like that though and have continued using the collar. Now even when we have our friends dog over and I take the bark collar off while they play she doesn't bark. I would definitely recommend using a bark collar to train your dog if their a nuisance barker like ours was. (Your neighbours will love you for it and you'll appreciate the peace and quiet too!)Elenor C.

Charge the collar prior to using on your dog. Follow instructions included with the unit. Easy setup. My dog, a Plott hound who is quite vocal, learned to stop barking using the auto rise setting. Bark odometer nice feature to determine how often the unit provides correction. Noted less corrections the more Jax wore the collar. May try just vibration setting when corrections minimal. This is an amazing product as long as it is used properly with verbal training. Two of my dogs were trained with these by a professional trainer. He advised me to train the rest of my dogs with them and have them on hand so my dogs wouldn't regress. Basically all I have to do is tell them (I have 4 hunting dogs) to quiet down and show them the collars now and immediately then listen. If not I put them on, but that is rare and only if there are rabbits outside they want to get at. When I started training I started with verbal command and then put the collar on when they wouldn't listen. Rarely did they need more than vibration to stop. It took a total of 3 weeks to train them to listen to verbal commands. When you have 4 dogs in the house it's important be able to have control. This product helps achieve that!jennifer.c

I assume this collar works. However, I believe my dog has learned from past collars that a shake of the head will move the tightest collar just far enough off center to lessen the shock. Either that or he just sucks it up and keeps barking. I've turned it up to the highest and it only reduces his barking by maybe 5% . It blinks and registers the correction, but apparently he's not suffering enough to quit all together. So I am not sure if the problem is him or the collar. I would suggest the vendor change the collar to add a non slip material instead of the slick shiny stuff they currently use. That might stop the "shake off".ShellyB

The best Bark collar I have seen ever. I repair tech products and can see quality in this device. However, my dog completely ignores it. My dog is an English Shepherd breed, with strong herding instincts that completely override the noise and the shocks. Sorry guys. I am sure other dogs may comply. The above Rating answer options don't really allow me to be nice . . . so read this! Can I recommend it? Not for my breed, but for smaller less energetic dogs, I am sure there would be some compliance. Is it good value? If it works for your dog then yes it would be – but for my breed no. I liked the idea of a collar with vibration and sound versus shock or static. Didn't want to hurt my dog, just wanted to get his attention. The vibration works the best on mine, he learned within a day or two that when I called his name, I wanted him to come to me. In fact, it worked so well that I no longer need the collar for the negative behavior he displayed when I first bought it. And that's a darned good thing because an updated to the app in late April this year (changed from one app to another, forced not by choice) has rendered the collar worthless. The app itself is impossible to connect to the collar 99% of the time. If I was buying a collar again, I'd buy the same collar but would NOT opt for the phone app. I'd get it with a remote. The collar works, you won't hurt your pup, (don't use the static!) and the end result is the exclusion of negative behavior. Just be sure you don't get the one with the phone app.Mimi2Six

I literally just bought this yesterday! It is such a waste of money. The fact that it disconnects so much, and takes forever to reconnect to the collar is a terrible feature. How are you supposed to train a dog when you spend more time “connecting” to the collar. What a waste of $94. I’ve always been hesitant because I always thought that the smart colors shock the dog but I do enjoy the vibration aspect of it because it’s not harmful to my baby. It’s helping me control behaviors like staying off of the furniture and not pulling on the leash and within the short time we’ve use it I can already see you a little bit of improvement on his behavior in these areas. He will walk next to the couch but will not get on it he’ll lay in front of it which is what we wanted. And he’s also stopped tugging at the leash on walks. I am definitely Happy with this product. I also like that you can control the level of the vibration on the collar. So what we did was we gradually increase the intensity of the vibration until we knew that he could fill it we know that it would probably be a pretty high because he does have thick for him but it startles him it doesn’t it doesn’t hurt him and that’s what’s most important. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who’s wanting to train their dogs in the humane way with physical reinforcement without harming their pet.Lorielnj

The Dogtra Arc collar is just what my American Treeing Feist, 11 month puppy needed. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around. I purchased this one as I wanted a wireless version vs the perimeter one I had to bury. We use this when we go fishing as well as around the house. We have only had to use the continuous shock once at level 2. The tone works so well we dont really need the other features but we have them just in case, our dog decides to be really stubborn in the future. My favorite is how easy it is to use, charge and the fact the tone is the best way to get my dog's attention. It has not taken long for him to know the remote goes to his collar and that just showing him he knows to heel or the tone sound will come on and get his attention quickly. My sister is purchasing one as well since my purchase, as she has seen how much it has helped our strong willed dog. He just needed a little extra guidance for his safety as we live off a highway and next to woods with coyotes. Definitely would buy again and looking forward to showing my sister how to work hers next week.Countrysun

Really enjoy the simplicity of the collar and remote. My only wish is that the vibrate setting was higher, our deaf American bully doesn't respond to the vibrate setting very well. Literally bought this as my second attempt first was a petsafe wireless fence and it wasn’t as user friendly as this petsport with a remote. I’m able to keep basic corrections in house and outside in the yard! I was worried it wouldn’t be small enough for my mini Heeler but the collar comes with an abundant amount of holes for proper fit on anything ! Supper pleased with the collar and the three bases it has for training. The beep tone the one hit simulation and the longer hit stimulation gives me theee options to ask my dog according to what she’s doing. I like that it can be supper mild and allow her the chance to be asked nicely and then reinforced mildly and then reinforcement with a sterner setting. A true life saver. My pup was running out to the neighbors across the street and up to meet cars it literally only took thirty mins in house training on basics and then outside yard training for a little under an hour! I am now no longer stressed about her getting hurt she comes right back to me and treats me as I am her safe spot! I thought it would discourage her but if taken time and reading directions and applying properly you will have a new dog !Heeler

Our two westies have had barking issues in the past. Just the random barking when neighbours make noise, bins get collected, someone at door etc. We have tried other collars in the past and they never worked! Finally now we have a solution! These collars worked instantly. One bark and since they felt the first vibration, then haven’t had them bath since! We will leave these collars on them full time. Have had the best results with this bark collar (Dogtra YS300). I used it on myself to test and it scared me for sure! But DID NOT HURT AT ALL. I adopted a Maltese Terrier end of last year and he barked like a maniac! I cannot handle barking for no reason! Anyway, I ended up having to go up to number 4 because his barking urge was so strong. It took a couple of weeks and he’s now an angel. He still barks on occasion of course-he’s a dog! Lol But he’s calmed down so much. Very happy with my purchase.Bindi L.

We wish we bought this sooner! Our little Kelpie girl was relentless with her barking she would bark at anything that moved. After a not so great interaction with a neighbour we were at our wits end and decided to purchase the collar. It was quite awful hearing her yelp when so first barked however after 2 weeks with the collar I don't even have it on her anymore during the day and when at home and she barely makes a peep! I can even go out at night and put it on the vibration setting only and know she won’t bark. Such an amazing investment she is a different dog now.Monique
