This is a reassuringly robust harness. Looking at the size guide, the guidance on harness size for weight of dog shows a large overlap between small and medium. We bought the medium harness. It fitted but the underneath pad came right up to our dogs chin when she was lying down in the car, making it uncomfortable. We decided to buy the small harness to use until the dog fits into the medium one. This is MUCH smaller than the medium harness. It barely fits our dog. I bought this harness because of the front clip for my dog who likes to pull. The clip on the front is very flimsy and I don’t trust it with her. This is really surprising because the rest of the harness’ hardware is HEAVY DUTY. I almost returned it but I love the heavy duty handle on it. Otherwise a very well made harness – I use it every day, just not for walks where she will pull. I went with a halti instead. I don’t know why they cheaped out on the front clip as the rest of the harness is fantastic. I will say the attachments for around the belly are a bit cumbersome to do with a large breed, long haired bouncy puppy. It’s the old fashioned belt clips and I sometimes have a hard time sliding it through with all the hair.CaucasianShepherd
I actually bought 4 of theses harnesses and really like the overall design and felt my dogs were safe in the car. However I totally hate the metal buckles as some of them do not buckle very easy. I had to file them down to make them easier to manipulate. And for someone with arthritis putting them on is a struggle, certainly not buckle and go, more like fiddle and fiddle and go. Another thing is if dog turns around everything at the top gets tangled into a big mess. They really should product test what they sell with all kinds of dogs. They are made reasonably well but skimp in the seam fabric which come apart in some areas after even hand washing which then causes fraying of edges. Three years ago I bought this harness for my dog and loved it!! Metal fasteners can't be chewed through, fit well and very durable. We have used when traveling since then. We recently got another dog, so got another one but the woven straps are so slippery that I can't keep the harness adjusted. the sliding adjusters slips on th webbing. This harness and kurgo enhanced strength harness we’re only car harnesses available in the store. I bought both. Reddy fit our 18# dog better. The kurgo fit like it would rub behind her legs. Reddy has a wider breast plate that looks like it would spread the crash force better. Reddy fit our dog better. What I didn’t like with Reddy was threading the seat belt through the loops. The seat buckle barely slides through the loops both latching in and unlatching. You do this while keeping the seatbelt from sliding tight. Luckily we have a calm patient dog. Kurgo uses a carabiner clip to hook harness and seatbelt together, quicker and easier. Understand that both harnesses confine the dog snugly against the seat. Our 18# dog could not sit up, the seat belt snugs harness close to the clip. She could move enough to change laying positions. We used this harness on a 1200 mile trip and will use for trips to vet. Threading seat belt through the Reddy tight loops makes it unlikely use for quick trips. The kurgo is easier for quick trips and rubbing won’t be an issue.Luabr
Very disappointed with Petco for not standing behind their product for more than 30 days. I purchased on Jan 18th and it broke March 7th. I took it into the store and was rudely told I would have to call customer service where I was offered only a partial refund. Due to their “strict policy” they wouldn’t even replace the product. It was buckled on my dog when the clasp just broke off while still clipped in the other side. This harness has been such a life saver; I wish it was available when our pup first came home! After moving out of the city, we’ve had to drive longer distances than we used to, in addition to our regular vet visits and trips to see family. Just some of the reasons we now use this harness exclusively: -Because of the method in which the harness is secured to the seatbelt, it keeps Sammie from jumping up to the front of the car while moving and prevents him from twisting himself around if he gets anxious. -The 4 points of adjustment allow us to get the perfect fit and takes away any worry that he will wiggle out and get hurt. -The ability to clip his leash on and use as a walking harness make trips in and out of the vet and stores quick since we don’t t have to constantly take it off and put it back on him. -Probably the most important, Sammie tolerates having it on really well. He doesn’t paw at it or try to get it off which we take to mean it’s actually comfortable for him The only negative we have is unfortunately a big one, and the reason for taking away 1 star. Getting the seat belt through the loop can be difficult and time consuming. This really become an issue if we need to hop out of the car on a busy road, we need to make a stop for a potty break, or if I’m getting him in and out myself in the dark/late at night. The harness didn’t move on her. She wasn’t sure about being buckled in though. She’s use to laying down sleeping on car rides so I didn’t like that she couldn’t. I brought two of these a couple of months ago, one dog it works great. My other dog has managed to tie himself in knots around the seatbelt, tried with and without the extension to control his movements and he still ties himself up in knots. Worse he has managed to have the D-ring tear through a seatbelt. He has both slipped out of the harness and managed to undo the seatbelt. The medium Kurgo harness fits my 23 pound dog well. The harness itself is incredibly sturdy – I was actually surprised by how “heavy” it is. The blue color is nice and the reflective material is an added bonus. The harness slips on over the dog’s head then buckles closed on each side. So far, it has been very easy and fast to put it on and take it off my dog. The leash clips are positioned in such a way (middle of back) that makes it easy to walk the dog without her choking herself (a problem we have with our old harness) from pulling. The harness is a bit stiff, however, so it’s not good for car rides where dog needs to lie down for long periods. The only concern we have is the loops to clip the leash to don’t seem as sturdy as the rest of the harness. The are a thinner aluminum that bends easily. Overall, I am impressed with this harness and recommend it.Ndanip
I love Kurgo products and think they are great quality, but was disappointed in this harness. If you have a barrel chested dog and want to attach a leash to the front D ring (my pup is a puller, so that was the whole reason we bought this), I wouldn't recommend this harness. I have a 14 month old standard poodle (45 lbs) and we bought a medium as she fit smack dab in the middle of those measurements. Unfortunately, the harness just doesn't fit deep-chested dogs. The neck opening is weirdly large and can't be tightened very much so after adjusting the harness to fit her, the front D ring ended up right between her front legs. We couldn't attach a leash to the front ring because she would stumble over it while we walked. Seems like Kurgo could fix this pretty easily by just moving the front D ring higher to be closer to the neck opening, but unfortunately not easy to fix/solve the issue at home. My boyfriend has the Nylon Reflective Journey Air Dog harness (M), which looks like this harness mixed with the Tru-fit harness kind of. I have this Journey Air Dog harness (M) for my GSD/husky mix. We have a couple of issues with this specific model of the Journey harness. She has an athletic build with a pretty deep chest that is also narrow as heck, and due to the longer padding on the top of the chest piece, I'm unable to adjust it enough so that it fits her well. It renders the front D-ring useless, as the harness will pull to the side of her body loosely. Unfortunately, sizing down would mean that it would not be able to fit around the deepest part of her ribcage. The other issue I have with this harness is that I'm nervous it chaffs the back of her armpit area. It's pretty snug up against the backs of her legs–maybe even too snug. I would size up, but then that would exacerbate the issue with the front. I'm almost certain it's an unpleasant experience for her as she runs away when I so much as pick up the harness. I brought up the fact that my boyfriend has this type of harness (but a different/earlier model) because I am able to adjust that one well to my dog. None of the issues present in my harness are present in the other one, likely because of the smaller chest padding. I would go to the Tru-Fit harness for my pup, but we go hiking a bunch, and the handle on the back is a must-have. What is probably the most upsetting is that I cannot find this other model of harness in stock and in the size we need anywhere as of today. I simply cannot recommend this harness if your pup has a narrow chest.2dogs1cat

I have a Mini Australian Shepherd puppy, and this harness is so good!! The way the leash attachment “floats” along the dorsal strap makes it work really well no matter where he is in relation to me (front/back/side), and it had really helped him learn not to pull, because unlike a collar it’s not actually unsafe for him to test his limits (so I dont have to try and keep him from doing it, just address when it happens). Good product, comfortable for dog, easy to adjust for size differences, holds up well for changing weather conditions and stress from use. I have purchased three harnesses in the last two years, all for the same dog as he grows. Only problem is where the harness crosses the dog's back and where it adjusts under the belly. When the harness is attached to a leash on the back clip, it slips and shifts until the back clip and leash attachment is hanging on the dog's side. And where the harness has two fixed adjustments near the dog's belly where the harness is held in place by snaps, the snaps aren't strong enough to stay closed when the dog moves, so the straps going through those loops shift and slip until the harness is out of adjustment. Together with the problem of the loose strap on the dog's back, for a large dog like I have, the harness is always twisted or loose unless I make some reinforcing stitches at those two key junctions. The first harness I purchased when the dog was smaller already had those two key junctions stitched and held in place. The next two harnesses needed to be stitched heavily by me in order to stay in place, which was difficult because the material is very tough and thick and isn't easily sewn by hand with a standard needle and thread. I don't know why the company stopped reinforcing those key junctions for the harnesses needed for large, strong dogs. Once the harness junctions are reinforced, the harness is good for a large dog being tethered or walked, and is easily put on and removed even if the dog doesn't hold still. I especially like the fact that the harness can be custom fit around both the neck and the chest, and from neck to back. That allows for long term use while the dog grows.
Purchased and selected size last year based on Kurgo size chart recommendation. Harness was way to large, at the smallest setting on our 56# Aussie. Also hooks/ slides on back of harness twist and turn, don't stay in place.. The adjustment slides don't stay in place in the front and the harness , after one pull is huge again. I bought the small harness for my excitable 2 year old cockapoo. The product was very easy to put on him, and it appeared to make him feel more secure during the car journey. The only problem I have encountered is with regards to the removing of the harness over his head due to the neck size. This is a really cute toy, and our 12-week-old puppy loved it! The problem is, however, that she was able to detach little hunks of the loofah material from the center of the starfish within just a few sessions. The label warns of this, so we watched and threw away the chunks . . . and ultimately the whole toy before she could swallow anything. Maybe a much younger puppy would do better? I purchased this for my sister in laws Westie. We are having to take her out in the car at the moment and wanted her to be safe and secure on the back seat.I measured the dog before purchase and although the chest area was a perfect size, her head would not go through the neck part, which is fixed. I needed a replacement the next day of a larger size. This was not possible from yourselves and I had to buy from another company.This was a tiny bit loose, but very secure in the car. The dog was still able to look through the window when she wanted. I believe it would be worth showing the size of the neck loop, people could then judge if this would fit over their dogs head.I was very impressed by Petplanet delivery and their price. The small sized harness has been gifted to another person with a smaller dog, they are very happy with the product. The other thing to mention, is ease of putting the harness on. No having to fight the dog to put it on. Just loop over the head and then fasten the straps across the dogs back. The harness then fixed into the seat belt holder. This is a very good harness to buy, as long as you have correct measurements.

I have a pit/lab mix, and he hasn't been on many walks, even though he needs to to cut down a few extra lbs. I looked at the sizing chart, and he was right in between the 2 sizes, so I went with the bigger one because I wanted him to be comfortable. I dont know if size had anything to do with it, but I couldn't get it to lay flat on him. It comes with several adjustment spots, so I can make sure it fits him good. He seems to really like it, as compared to other harnesses we have used with him. The material is nice and padded, it seemed very comfortable for my dog. The leash attachment is also in a really good place to pull at his chest and not his neck. In the time using this, I have not noticed any issues with the zipper or with the quality. When we rescued our Westie/poodle mix, he had never walked on a leash and fought us to the point that we had to carry him a few blocks and then try to leash walk. This Stash and Dash harness is great. It is so easy to take off and on that Remy doesn't seem to notice. When I use the hook at the bottom of the harness he stops pulling and tugging. This is a great harness because it is breathable and doesn't make my dog too hot. It also packs up into a small package that can be attached to a bag by the included caliber clip. You can also pack snacks and a little food in the pouch while your pup is wearing it. It also has nice metal clips at the chest and the rear of the front of the harness under the pouch. I love this harness for our little Holly! I was so happy to find it in pink and polka dots, especially when I had been told my another retailer that it was only available in black (which I have for my boy). The only complaint is the grip clips (to hold strap adjustments looser or tighter) slip daily, but not enough to cause worry with the straps themselves slipping. Maybe those could be swapped with metal ones by the manufacturer. I highly recommend this beautiful, strong and sturdy harness for your little girl! We started using this harness with our 4-month old English Setter on long car rides. Since it hooks through the seat belt strap she has some movement—she can spread out the length of the backseat. The fixtures are nice and heavy, giving me extra assurance of her safety. The harness is a bit too heavy for regular walks. Which works out fine, as our trainer recommended that we reserve this one for car use only. She also recommended not using the harness when our dog runs as it constricts shoulder movement. This is a great car harness/seatbelt. I have a 19lb wirefox terrier and got her a medium. Fits great and easily adjusted to different sizes. The harness fits well and has several car attachment options, but the design seems somewhat bulky. The bit of protective material under the buckle could be bigger, as my dog moves around a lot & twists the strapping so that the buckle moves off of the fabric. The buckle can also be somewhat difficult to attach because there is so little of the strap attached to it. That having been said, I would still recommend this product because it does help keep my big shepherd confined and safe, should I need to stop quickly while driving.techcatz
I bought the harness for my grand-dog a very active dachshund mix. The chest part of the harness is not adjustable due to the clip being permanently attached, so stays to one side of her chest instead of centered. I also needed to tie knots on the straps or they would slip through the buckles. Don't cut and burn the ends of the straps before you see if this happens. Overall it is okay for very short rides but she wriggles out of one side if the ride is more than a few miles.MaryAnneP

I have always carried my dogs in a crate when we travel, thinking they are safer than being loose in the car. I do understand that my lightweight crate will fly very easily so I wanted a more secure way to take the dogs. This harness system is an easy design to install and gives the dog some freedom to change positions without a problem. I am not happy with the vest, it is a little small and when I adjusted it to fit it seams uncomfortable and ill fitting. There is nothing to attach the harness to a seatbelt. The purpose of me buying the harness was to restrict my dog from moving to the front seat. When she can move to the front she blocks me from seeing the right mirror on the passenger side of the car. I do not understand how I suppose to attach the harness to a seatbelt. It is insufficient and I would not recommend to anyone. It probably would protect my dog if it could be attached to a seat in some way. There should have been a seatbelt snap.true
This safety harness works great! It's easy to setup in your car by attaching the tether to your car's seat belt. The harness itself doesn't seem to bother my dog at all. I bought this harness about a month or so ago for my Plotthound Lab Mix! This harness is a very great quality harness and my dog is comfortable and happy in it! He is a working dog so this harness is great for when we are on the move or running! The neck area has a bit of stretch to it so if we need to make a sudden stop and it pulls on him he wont be choked! It has a pretty good wide open space for working dog patches or stickers! Despite my dog tugging his leash at times, this harness is so comfortable for him. Not a trace of skin redness caused from it even after all that craziness he does. Trust me, my pittie is strong and yet, it’s a piece of cake for this harness! Not a slight sign of wear and tear. This thing is built to last. I love that he will grow into this in time as well, because the upper limit on ours is 50 pounds. Perfect! Also, there is a nice handle on the back of the harness – so well sewn. Keep your dog stable by holding onto it, when needed. Even someone in a small build like myself can have great control due to the well-thought out design. I have been using the EasySport Medium Harness for about a month now. I live by the Dunes on Lake Michigan and take our puppy there several times a week. She is about forty five pounds and has quite a bit of energy. When first trying this on her I noticed I was able to loosen the straps. It was very easy and took seconds to loosen. The fit was perfect and she seemed very comfortable. I noticed the straps were thicker and when she pulled, I wasn’t worried the straps would break. While walking through the dunes, some of the pathways can be very narrow. I am training her to stay at my side while other hikers walk by. Having that strap at the top has made it even easier to train her to stay. Now all I have to do is tap the top and she knows to sit. The convenience of the strap and the padding added for comfort are two huge added bonuses for us. Our puppy is very active and while walking her in public I need to trust that I have the best products. I need to be able to rely on our leashes and harnesses so we can enjoy our walks with no worries. This harness has been fantastic. When she pulls too much or gets excited and runs, I know that the harness won’t break. I do believe I will need to size up soon. I ordered a medium and I think it fits very well. I am sure after a few more months of growing though that I will need the large. I will be purchasing the next size up when she’s ready. If this harness can withstand my puppies energy, it is tough enough for any dog!JoeFav
