We have a 6 pound 12 year old Chihuahua who recently had a reaction to a newer and larger "chew-able" heartworm preventative that contained an added ingredient. It's like she was in a daze, staring, trembling and walking in "slow motion"…very scary! After discussing it with the vet, and reading the possible side effects of the new medication (which included neurological symptoms), we decided to return to this Interceptor medication, which she's taken for years with no problem (it's also a much smaller pill, only about 5mm, and easy to slip into a piece of banana or apple… since she refuses to take pills without disguising them). Unfortunately, our vet was out of them and informed us that this specific pill has been discontinued and suggested we check online. So I purchased two of these 6 dose boxes from Valley Vet Supply, enough to last me an entire year (we live in a warm climate that has mosquitoes all year round). My vet recommended Interceptor as I was convinced my sweet Greyhound became ill every month when I gave her Heart Guard. She would have an upset stomach and diarrhea for days after receiving it. This was an incredibly interesting fragrance. It truly does smell like the forest, or a tree, very natural. It’s not something you wear to pull compliments, but it can definitely get attention. My adopted beagle had seizure the second day after we brought her home. She was one year old then. We thought it was due to the new environment. Clinic vet prescribe her with only some relaxant medication and vitamins. She continues to have seizure once every few weeks. Till a serious episode in the middle of the night one day made us to bring her to the animal hospital. We inherited my mother-in-law's 16-or-so year old cat. He had a history of throwing up but her vet couldn't find anything wrong. I wasn't sure if this was what caused the diarrhea initially so I took her off this for a couple days and added it back into her water after she recovered, she proceeded to have diarrhea again the next day. I've bought these a few times for my little doggie! He is a 7-year old Chi mix that weighs about 24 pounds. We give him one a day as a treat. I purchased because he has torn his doggie ACL in the past. We did not get the surgery for this, as a small dog it healed on its own, but as the vet said, he will have some arthritis-like mobility issues from that leg moving forward. I can definitely tell these are beneficial for our boy! When he takes these regularly, we can tell an improvement in his mobility. It had proven some, very moderate effect on my doggy's joint issues. I cannot recommend it for that reason, but it doesn't make it a bad product. In fact, he found it tasty enough not to spit, which is impossible with Strand syrup he was prescribed, and it didn't affect his stool–again unlike Strand. What really helped him was a gelatinous-rich diet, if you wonder, but the smell is horrendous and it definitely made him fart like crazy. So, considering this, I think, it doesn't hurt to try these soft chews and see if it does your pet any good before looking for something else. My senior dog's liver values have been elevated due to medications and age. SAMe and Milk Thistle were recommended and we have been using both by Vita Pet Life. My dog likes the taste and eats them as a treat. In June of 2013 I rescued my black cat. The Humane Society told me Sooki was about 2 years old at the time. Within a few months she started licking everything—including the furniture and especially the house walls. I took her to a Vet and she was diagnosed with feline stomatitis. Her gums were inflamed and it was recommended that all of her teeth be removed–a standard practice. I found another vet who said he had previous success with 1-TDC with cats suffering from this incurable disease. He started her on 2 per day. After 6 months there was about a 50% remission. After a year she showed no signs of the disease. The Vet said she would have to remain on 1-TDC for the rest of her life–1 per day, which I have continued. I cut off the tip and squeeze the gel onto a plate for Sooki to lick off. (She likes it.) As far as I am concerned that second Vet saved Sooki's life or, at least, her quality of life.CatLover2

However I am confused about how to return the wrong bottle and I have not a way to print a shipping label. I hesitated to buy the hip and joint advanced liquid for cats. I often think homeopathic products are a gimmick. When my 13 year old 20 pound Russian Blue started having trouble walking down stairs and was hesitating before jumping up, I consulted my vet only to be told there wasn't treatment approved for cats joint maintenance yet. I bought a bottle and wasn't sure how I was going to administer it to my cat. She's very feisty and there was no way I'd be able to give it to her in a dropper. I poured it on her food and she ate every last bit of it. I started giving it to her every morning without a problem and before the bottle was gone she was moving like a kitten! I just received my second bottle. The vet said a shot should be approved sometime this year for cats with joint problems, but I don't intend to put her through the monthly trauma as long as liquid vet keeps working. I was a little concerned with just how many products they carry all looking the same but yet with a different label. So I contacted the company asking them if they did a third-party independent lab analysis on all of their products and I was happy to hear that they said they did. But then when I asked if those results were available to the public they told me no. Why would you do a third-party independent lab on your products and then not allow the public to request a copy or post them. As with human supplements, animal supplements are not regulated like human products. These companies can get away with putting just about anything they want in a jar and slapping a label on it telling you whatever they want is in the product. I ordered 3 jars of the Allergy Immunity chews and 1 jar of the Allergy Skin Health. dog would not eat the chews. They smell awful and they must have tasted exactly like they smelled because he spit them out every time I gave him a chew. I even tried masking the taste with peanut butter, but he licked the peanut butter off and left the chew. The only way I could get him to eat the chew is if I wrapped it in chicken, and sometimes he would eat the chicken and still spit out the chew. It was so frustrating. I emailed the company and told them the situation. They told me to send back the 2 unopened jars and to donate the open jars or throw them away. After sending back the unopened jars they said that they are only replacing 2 jars even though I purchased 4.
This ordeal has been frustrating.

I really wanted to like this stuff but unfortunately my dog had other ideas. The one and only time he actually ate it is when the cats threatened to consume his food. All other times he immediately turned his nose up at it and refused to even try. He is pretty picky, though, and likely was turned off by the smell (somewhat overpowering smoked smell). If you have a dog that is allowed any opinion on what they eat, take a pass on this stuff. If you have a dog, though, that eats anything that slows down long enough then I think it is worth a try. Be forewarned, the bottle leaks, no matter how or where you store it (my bottle is always kept upright on his snack shelf in the kitchen), and leaves a messy residue along the lid and upper portion of the bottle.
My Cairn Terrier has seasonal skin allergies. This product was easier to administer, with clear dosing instructions. He seemed to like the flavor. However, I can only assume the product had somewhat of a positive affect on him as his itching decreased, but it tends to decrease anyway in cooler weather. The one negative thing I could say about the product is how messy it gets. It seems to bubble out of the top after application, so the lid is covered in product and gets messy and sticky. The dog doesn't seem to mind that part though!Shawn
