So I absolutely love this collar – it has been great for my dog in that is doesn't rub or cause any issues for him. However, the sizing is a bit tough for me. I originally bought the collar in an XL and exchanged it for a L, but between the last two holes (making it the largest possible) I wish there was one more in the middle because the last hole is too loose on him when we are walking, but then the second to last is too tight when he is laying down/relaxed. Other than that, this is absolutely perfect!
The first thing I noticed when I unboxed this collar was how soft and supple the material is—perfect for snuggling and probably very comfortable for my pup! It seems well-made and is definitely well-designed, love the little touch of the "W" mark on the end. The color is CRAZY bright, almost dayglo, and looks great on my brown brindle pittie, it would really stand out on a black dog too. My single caveat with this collar is that it is too soft and flexible to restrain my dog securely, so we just use it to hold his ID tags (we always use a harness on walks anyway). I'd definitely recommend the collar and will probably end up buying some other colors to accessorize!Sam S.
Anyone that have dogs know that they chew on anything. But this Wild One collar is definitely not designed for dogs. Within 2 days, my dog has chewed it up. My other nylon collars were also chewed by my dog but it usually takes months for it to show the severity of damage. The material also feels cheap. Like generic iPhone cases you can find anywhere. Very subpar. Their customer support was also somewhat useless. Basically they say this is part of wear and tear. I understand wear and tear but 2 days? For the original price they are charging, I would had expected a few weeks. They even offered 20% off a new item. Another chew toy? LOL. I didn’t want a replacement. Just a better response. I ordered two size “small” collars to replace 6 year old llbean collars for our miniature dachshunds. I like the added layer of comfort of having names/phone number on them. The red and blue colors are very pretty and vibrant and embroidery is great. They are larger than the last ones we ordered and especially for the older one, is slightly big. Overall, the collars are wider and heavier than the previous version. We plan to use them but wanted to make sure others understood the change in the size small. We may have to eventually swap the one for our older one, since she is aging and eventually may be too much for her neck. We love ruffwear! Have been using their products for 5 years already, love the designs and materials they use but mann what’s going on with the stitching ?? It sucks when the stitching starts coming loose within days/weeks of use, i got two dogs and it feels like you got a 50-50 chance that you will get a product with defective stitching, Got two collars, the “ruffwear” tag started coming loose within a few weeks of use on one of those. Got two leashes, the buckle to use around the waist broke in two days!! On one of those, the other one is still good, Got two fernie jackets, the stitching around the neck started coming loose within ONE wash on one of those, so you get the point… luckily i know how to sew and I’m able to repair the items, but it sucks to spend top dollar on dog gear only to last in good condition for a few days or weeks.Gabriela
I have 2 beagles a little over a year old and these are the second Ruffwear collars they’ve had. I bought new ones because they grew out of their old ones and, honestly, I wanted a new look on them. My girls are typical beagles who spend a lot of time outdoors wrestling, digging, chasing, etc. These collars hold up well and are not too thick, stiff, or bulky. For the number of tags I need to have on my dog, separate attachment points for tags and leash are a must. Everything on one ring would be a difficult mess. My Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy is growing quickly, and making small size adjustments a couple times each week is no problem. Once set, it stays set no matter how hard he pulls, no matter if the collar is dry or wet. The webbing hardly absorbs odors, and a quick wash and air dry gets rid of what little there was. My only regret is that my rough-and-tumble beast of a puppy will outgrow his medium collar in another month. I purchased this collar maybe 3 months ago and the buckle now pops open when my dog pulls on his collar, whether it be on his leash when he sees a squirrel or at the vet while they are just holding him into place. My dog is 55lbs and barely pulls on his leash, only when he sees small animals. Not impressed the buckle! I purchased this collar or one very similar for my dog last year and it ended up rubbing off his hair on his neck area and leaving an irritated raw patch. As a pet owner I was very concerned sense the collar wasn't very tight at all, I don't want this happening to anyone else's baby. I did reach out to Carhartt to inform them of this defect and they seemed concerned and offered to replace it with a better collar. They ended up not replacing it and continued to give us the run around. We also did send photos in to show how harmful it was. Stylish and good-looking collar. Unfortunately, it's not as durable as we had hoped. The buckle/clasp is half plastic and half metal which causes it to fail over time. Ours worked great for a little over a year on our 45 pound hound, and then began to fail if our dog applied tension to it against his leash which would cause it to fall off of him. I have to admit that I was very impressed with the quality of the Backcountry collar. The material is a thick rubber that is both soft and strong. It doesn't have the sticky feeling most rubber has (especially when wet) so it doesn't pull or rub on the hair. The inside of the collar gets a greasy film that builds up after a while of wearing, however, one of the best things about this collar is how easy it is to clean! Soap and water is all you need and it dries immediately so you don't have to wait to put it back on your pup. It has a durable clip and slides easily when adjusting it to size.Brittany

This silicone collar is rad because it doesn't tatter over time, so it basically still looks brand new even after a couple of months of wear. The quality of this collar seems pretty good. I bought the Medium size for my 55 lb Boxer/Lab mix. It fits him well, and it seems plenty strong enough. He has been wearing it for a couple weeks now, and I have no complaints. I would recommend this collar to a friend, especially if it is a strong dog. Too short. Fits my dog but not for long. He's a 7 month old lab and it came maxed out and I only had @1/2"-1" of adjustment for him. Problem is that it's supposed to go to 18" and I don't think it does. He is currently at 16". Need a collar that spans that change better. 12"-18", then it's 18"-24". Please consider making one that's 16"-22" especially if it's going to bear his name . I also thought it would be wider. My overall experience with this collar is it looks great but not functional. I have 4 dogs and bought all 4 of them one. I have 2 young puppies that like to pull me on our walks and a rescue that also does the same. This collar doesn't work for them because it will begin to get loosen over time. I have to stop multiple times on the walks to tighten the collar only for the collar to loosen again. I also had 2 of my dogs almost run off because the collar wasn't tight. Good thing I could tackle them before they got too far. I love the looks and its very good for everyday around the house and backyard wear, but forget it when going on walks. I now use harnesses for my dogs because they give me more control so these collars for me are nothing more than a fancy collar to wear around the house. That's it. I love Ruffwear and make frequent purchases but this is the worst collar I have ever purchased. Period!Emily N.
I bought this for my puppy to grow into because it's totally my style. He didn't mind it. But he was having an itch at the collar and some fur got trapped and he started to panic about it. It was difficult to get off while he was freaking out, not to mention it was just a stressful situation for him because it was something around his neck. Buckle that holds the collar closed is cheaply made. Used it to take my dog for a walk and after a couple of pulls the collar came right apart. Put it back on and soon after the same thing happened. While I love the look of this collar, the clasp design is very unreliable. While the outer receptacle of the claps is metal, the inside is plastic. It's very week, and the collar flies off with the slightest pull. Sometimes it flies off of my Doberman when she barks with some spirit. If the clasp was made with metal on both pieces, I suspect it would work better.Gabrielle

I have now purchased over 20 collars from hotdogcollars.com, both embroidered and embossed. I like each for different reasons. The quality is the same as all of my other nylon collars except that they loosen on their own regularly and have to constantly be retightened. I have now lost 3 collars in the last 4 months (I have 12 dogs) because of this. I tried calling over 3 dozen times in the month of December and was NEVER able to speak with anyone. Bad service. I only realized a few minutes ago that those 3 lost collars that i paod $14/each for, and paid $14/each AGAIN to replace, were covered by their guarantee. Its small print, so you wouldn't know if you weren't looking for it. And its no where on my invoices. Then today I received 4 embossed collars I ordered 3 weeks ago, my new complaint is the red is not at all a true ted, more like a dark orange. And I got orange lettering on it, but of course you can't see it because the r3d is more orange…this could be avoided if they had a true color palate in the ordering platform instead just black lettered words. I like 3 of the 4 collars I received today, but I assume I am stuck with it now because i can't get anyone on the phone. And no, do not call me hotdogcollars.com, like you did last time and send me a nasty email when I don't answer your call! I have a business to run and i DO NOT ACCEPT PHONE CALLS FROM VENDORS. if you want my business to continue, you should ANSWER YOUR PHONE when a customer calls, just like the rest of us businesses do.
I absolutely love these collars for our dogs. It is a great ID Color for the price and the colors are so fun to pick out. I recommend to all the new dog owners that I know so that their dog will always have ID and no jingle jangle from metal tags. The nylon printed version is better than the embroidered since is does not wear and tear from friction so much. They last a long long time and wash up well too.
