First a foremost, I was really upset that I had to shell out over a hundred bucks for a dog cage. But since we have a brute escape artist that kept destroying her old kennel and hurting herself during the process. With this kennel, it has stopped all escapes, no signs of giving or stress. She's made it her home even when she doesn't need to be there.it comes with removable caster wheels for easy relocation, or take them off and leave it stationary while cutting a few inches off the overall height,The door is easily removable and attaches back on in a matter of a few seconds. We were worried about the meshed ground and her getting her toes caught in it, but I comes with a removable tray that's meant for the bottom, but we placed it over and that's her floor. The tree is just a tad under 5 foot. Not a problem for our little living room. The LED lights can be very bright–but you can unplug the LED lights! It still has 8 different light mod's even with the LED's unpluged. The longer branches on the bottom will not hold heavy ornaments. Light weight ornaments and garland is fine. It really is pretty even with out ornaments. The fiber optics make it a very colorful tree, even in the day time. The LED's are to brite for our liking. Not a problem for us we just unpluged them! Hey it's a 60 dollar tree. We are happy with it. You will have to fold down all of the branches they are not hinged like some of the higher dollar trees. It filled out nice! Wondering if we were sold a used unit. Missing 3 of the 4 rubber feet the one was already attached. Video shows they shoukd be in a bag and how to install. All 4 corner top supports were there 2 were in plastic bag that was ripped open previously and other 2 were in bottom of crate. Looks like part of the paint was worn off on the corners were the supports go. One of the sliding doors squeals as you slide it closed. Couldn't return it as we sold our previous crate already. Tried to call the manufacturer as it states do not call store have not heard back after 5 messages to them.Brad63126
The packaging of this item was very good. There is a plastic tray in the bottom of the cage, but it is well protected in the box. I took out the crate and it was all one piece, except for the divider. I laid it on the floor and unlatched the obvious clips that were holding the crate in a flat position. There are instructions that come with this crate, but it was so easy to figure out how to fasten the sides, I did not need them. I did review the instructions after and they are very easy to follow and understand. The crate wiring is very sturdy. I have a 45 lb Springer Spaniel and he has no chance of bending the wiring. The latches will not shake open. They fold over and my dog would have to be a magician to open them. There are two entry points. On large area on the lengthy side. And a slider set of doors on the wide side. Both sides have the same type of latches. The tray is very sturdy plastic and can be cleaned very easily. The crate comes with a divider. It is made of the same wiring material. Very sturdy. I only have one dog, so I won't be using it. But it is easy to install. The weight of the crate is not too bad. It comes with a handle on top, but the width of the crate is a bit large to be carrying around far. It is mainly used for repositioning. You won't pick up the crate with your pet inside. But it makes it easy for lifting into my van without my dog inside. I cannot think of any really bad things about this crate. It is a very quality item. Very easy to use. Very easy to fold and stow away when not in use. All in one piece. To get my dog used to using it, I put some treats in the crate. He went right in and was checking it out. Springers love to be in a cave, so I put a blanket over the top and he enjoys his privacy 🙂Charlie
I really like my Lucky Dog Sliding Door Dog Crate. I am disabled so I thought I would have to have someone help me assemble it. But the hardest thing about putting it together was getting it out of the box. Once it was out, it literally took me less than a minute and that was without instructions. It was so easy to see what needed to be done: lift one wall, lift the ceiling and the other wall falls into place. One end has a door with three lift and slide type handles. You can use one, two, or all three. And the front has the sliding door which is nice for a larger animal or for putting the bed in, etc. There is a heavy duty plastic bottom so you don’t have to worry about puppy accidents. There are also plastic sleeves to go on four corners on the bottom to keep it from being fully in contact with the floor, so there’s air flow underneath. This would also protect the floor in the case of the crate moving during use. They also included four corner protectors so that you don’t bang into a sharp edge and injure yourself or damage something. Good thinking. And a really nice feature is the wire wall that locks into place if desired, making the crate a haven for 2 animals or a smaller space for a smaller dog- for instance a puppy that would be overwhelmed by such a large crate now but would need every inch of it later. No need to buy 2 crates- just insert the divider wall now and remove it when the dog has grown enough to use the space. And if I don’t need to use the crate or I need to store it, it folds flat just as it came. Brilliant! I’m sold on this crate! Only downfall is my dog is exposed to whatever is going on around him so I would have preferred to have had this to begin with. This is a nice looking crate and it is substantial. It is also easy to move around. The main problem with it is that the clips to open and close the doors are annoyingly difficult. Also the side garage style door is difficult to operate as well. Sometimes I just leave the top open and take my little schnauzer out the top – it's easier.Joyce
About six months after giving away our lrg pet taxi, stored for years, our beloved dog had two disks rupture immediately paralyzing him. Putting him down wasn't an option(!) so we took him to Manhattan for emergency surgery. After a week at the hospital we were allowed to bring him home with strict instructions that he MUST be crated for 6 weeks to recover and let the spineal injury heal. I began looking for a replacement crate and cost was certainly a factor after the almost prohibitive cost of the surgery. The Pet Gear Crate became the one and only choice upon seeing the 'other door'. Given our dogs inability to walk or step in or out of the cage for the first week, the 'garage door' was absolutely awesome. Because he cried constantly if we left the room, we rolled it into the bedroom each night to sleep with us. The standard side door still allowed me to let him out for bathrrom breaks quickly and easily. He still has three weeks of crate time at this point, but the garage door is the most awesome invention ever! After a full recovery I plan to leave it open all the time and hope to encourage him to continue to use the crate as his bed. We bought two Petmate Silky Plush Dog Beds to put in the bottom that fit EXACTLY that give him plenty of comfort and since he is confined for 24/7, to keep him from getting bed sores or hot spots. The mat that comes with the crate is only two material pieces thick. For us and our pupose this crate is a great product/purchase. (Unfortunatley,for me) they lowered the price only two weeks after buying it, so it is more inline with where it should be priced given the overall quality and materials made with. I would not recommend this product if your dog is not crate trained or an escape artist. It is not a super sturdy crate and definatley not intended for traveling, but strictly home use. However, the second reason we purchased this crate is because it folds up so-to-speak and will store much more easily and in less space than a traditional crate. Third reason, it has wheels. The XL size can be hard to find. Was out-of-stock at Petmate, so I signed up for an e-mail alert when in stock. I am confident I received an alert just as soon as it was being manufactured. I really appreciate that. I ordered two for my Aussies. Yes, is a tad large for them, but they've used this size since they were young, and sleep in them. They can turn around easily in them, the crate has very good air movement, and the sides are straight with no lost space inside as so many have with curved sides. One cover was damaged in shipment. I let Petmate know on a weekend and got an immediate response from customer service. I just sent them a picture of the damage and had a new crate in a few days. Great experience all around. Shipping cost was high, but that's part of the time we live in. I'd been looking for this crate at other locations for a few years. Never found it in XL. Was well worth the shipping cost to me. So my dogs are rescues. The first one hated the metal wire crate. 3 years & another rescue added to our pack I decided to try crating again to save my home. This is a nice looking crate and it is substantial. It is also easy to move around. The main problem with it is that the clips to open and close the doors are annoyingly difficult. Also the side garage style door is difficult to operate as well. Sometimes I just leave the top open and take my little schnauzer out the top – it's easier.Joyce
Very hard to use. Clips and clamps are very poorly made. Aside from the fact that I've asked for refund and donated them, I did try to utilize them to no avial. I purchsed the large one and a small one. The garage door + top door feature is cool, but the locking mechanisms are very difficult to use. Terrible choice if you have arthritis! Its impossible to open the clips while holding the puppy in your other hand. 🙁 The cozy bed is the nicest part of this setup.Hard2Open
When I received this crate, I was very impressed with it, I have a rescue JRT who is an escape artist. I placed him in the crate feeling certain that he would be contained while I was at work. In the time that I was gone, he literally destroyed the crate, ripping it to shreds, tore the doors off, etc. I do believe that this crate would be adequate for a dog who isn't quite so zealous about getting out. It seems sturdy and would be safe for car travel. Just won't work for a dog who is intent upon getting out. I bought it because of the description of it being a "steel" crate, but it is more of just a heavy hard plastic. Do not trust it to contain a zealous dog who is intent upon escape.
