There is only two brands of kibble I would recommend if you keep kibble and this is it. Unfortunately kibble isn’t a balanced diet for dogs and contain a lot of filler ingredients. This was good and my dogs liked it but I eventually switched to a gently cooked/raw diet and that’s when I really saw a positive change and betterment in their overall health. If you can’t afford that I would do this and add as much healthy extra stuff you can to their diet.kate.m

Farmina grain free has been a great food for my dog Gauge and has eliminated skin irritation problems that he has dealt with his entire life. My dog pretty much listens on our walks . But I had to get this and give it a try cause my dog bruised his throat from pulling when he is in prey drive. I have 90 lb Performance American bulldog. I watched your video and when someone came up with this concept for the no pull harness I do not think their mind was thinking of a high prey drive dog… Oh look a bird,squirrel, blowing leaves, cat, raccoon etc. When my dog goes into prey drive this harness is useless even with my command telling him to stop. He feels nothing or here's nothing when it's prey drive kicks in. This product might work for smaller dogs and pet dogs but not for working breed dogs.Jose

I had a terrifying experience with the thunder leash. My dog pulled so hard she actually pulled me down. I wanted to try this method because all of the no-pull harnesses I tried actually rubbed he skin raw. The only product that helps with her at all is the k-9 bridle, but it was leaving a bald spot on her nose, so I wanted to try something new. I'm going back to the k-9 bridle!Debby G.

The first thing that went missing from my leash was the cap. Of course, when it's a small dark object, it's very easy to lose. I went looking for spares because I didn't want my $60 purchase to become useless because of a missing $9 piece. Thankfully I was able to find the cap on this website, and after $50 including shipping, I had my $9 piece of plastic. Our new pup arrived with a case of dander and rough fur in several places. Fans of Fromm for many years, we started him on Fromm Gold Large Breed Puppy, but after two months the skin issues hadn't abated (otherwise, he was doing great, though!). We turned to Fromm Heartland Gold Large Puppy to see if cutting poultry from his diet made a difference. Three quarters through the first bag, and the dander has decreased and the rough fur is softening up. We're glad that Fromm offers an alternate protein base to chicken, which seems to be the protein of choice for most puppy kibbles.Robin L.

My puppy did not even try the kibble – offered it to him in my hand lien treats , and tried mixing a little in his current dog food. He preferred to starve and wouldn’t even try. Bought 2 bags of kitten food. After one was opened and fed to the kittens we noticed that it had expired since sept 2019!! 7 months. Seriously. !! Of course I grabbed away from kittens and now on the second day of eating this gross food,, one kitten is having terrible upset stomach. Gave it meds and seems to be getting better. We called to let them know the product was expired and got the “bring back in” then when we got there to do this they still had a shelf of expired food. What the heck. Just hoping another customer would not notice. Yuck!!!! We pulled all off the shelf and gave to them. Since a warning didn’t push them to check their product. Thus far, I prefer the canned over the powder form. Also, if you are suing the powder form, when you mix it, strain it before pouring it in the bottle to ensure all of the powder has dissolved properly, extremely important!Shana Daniel

Mother Dachshund had to have emergency surgery (perforated uterus) when pups were 5 days old…no choice but to wean them immediately. Bought Esbilac elsewhere 12 oz. for $25. Found it best to add to lukewarm water and stir to break up any lumps, 1 part to 2 parts water. Mix up just enough for one feeding…puppies don't seem to relish "leftovers". Found this on WalMart page for $9.88 and ordered two more "cans". Needed two more. Price had risen to $10.97 and image is different, but still beats PetsMart's $25.99 Internet price. And the puppies? 18 days old now, and tubby little butterballs, thanks to Esbilac! Pictures: Puppies at 2 days (before Esbilac), and 11 days later. Mom is wearing a body suit (human baby "onesie" altered to fit) to make sure the pups did not nurse…she was still on antibiotics. BTW, she did everything for them except nurse them! I first wrote a review on this product after only about three weeks, and although his scratching and skin irratation still continued at that point, I stated his coat appeared better. Now after several months have gone by, I need to set the record straight. After about 6 weeks of using Aller G3, my Scottie was noticeably doing less scratching and pulling his hair out, and his coat was really looking better. Now it has been about 5 months, and this is the first summer in years that I have not had to take him to the vet for a cortizone shot. I had tried every kind of the highest quality of dog food, started making his own, first trying beef as the main ingredient, then turkey, then chicken. I used several kinds of pet shampoo, then used only that supplied by my vet, all to no avail. I talked to my brother, his vet recommended Aller G3 for his Scottie, and he had vastly improved. I finally decided to try it. I could not be happier. He is having no issues with scratching, he is not pulling his hair out. His coat is beautiful…..I am happy!Cawaynus

I have two rescue dogs found 2 months apart. One, no matter what I tried, just kept scratching and chewing at their skin. Vet sold me Vetoquinol and said to try this. I give both my dogs, cannot give one without the other,1 tablet every day before their meals. They come running when they hear me open bottle. They just love the taste when they chew into the capsule. My 7 year old Scottie has been to the vet for Cortizone shots every year for several years, plus I have used vet reccomended supplements, vet reccomended shampoos, plus every different type of flea and tick prventors, in trying to control his skin itching and hot spots. We changed his dog food to all natural (expensive) dog food, finally started making his food ourselves, trying beef, turkey, chicken, all with no change or relief. He has scratched and pulled his hair out every summer, with nothing helping except for the cortizone shot, and I am reluctant to give that to him, except almost as an emergency. My brother also has a Scottie 150 miles away from me, had the same issues with skin problems, and his vet recommended Aller g3, and he told me it has stopped his dog from itching and scratching. I was skeptical, but willing to try anything, and I could not believe it. After a few weeks into the spring this year, his scratching stopped, his coat got black again instead of the reddish look, and he has had the best summer of his life. He has had no scratching issues of any kind, his coat is beautiful, and we are both sooo happy. Very good. Bought it because my dog fell down a flight of stairs in his excitement and was limping for a few days. After I gave this HA to him, he could walk as per normal and jump around after two days. Don't know if it was his natural recovery or the effects of the HA. But I have read alot about HA and trust that it does help the joints and can be absorbed into the body. However, I must say that it is an expensive purchase. We use hyaflex in combination with Cosequin DS with MSM. It has helped our golden tremendously!! It doesn't cure anything, but makes her more comfortable. She's moving better and can jump on the sofa, (her bed).Jan

Kibble is way too small for large breed dogs. My dog needs to be able to chew his food to promote good dental hygiene. This does not work well for large breed dogs.Swillen

I started using this food about 18 months ago. I’ve seen a change in my dogs skin and allergies. The ingredients are very good compared to other kibble foods. I’m very happy with the probiotics and supplements that enhance the food. I also love that there is no corn meal in this dog food. Thank you for making a good kibble that has rejuvenated my dogs. My dogs love this food, they are picky eaters so when I tried this and they ate it immediately, I knew this dog food was a good choice. I did research on this brand and it had minimal contaminants, by-products, and all the other bad stuff in dog food. I have a Maltese, Yorkie, and a Morkie and they all love it. I've bought these a few times for my little doggie! He is a 7-year old Chi mix that weighs about 24 pounds. We give him one a day as a treat. I purchased because he has torn his doggie ACL in the past. We did not get the surgery for this, as a small dog it healed on its own, but as the vet said, he will have some arthritis-like mobility issues from that leg moving forward. I can definitely tell these are beneficial for our boy! When he takes these regularly, we can tell an improvement in his mobility. My lab is beginning to have hip/joint issues. I started to give him on another brand of chews but had to disguise them in his food as he didn't like the taste. I then changed to this brand and what difference. My boy loves these and thinks of them as a treat. It had proven some, very moderate effect on my doggy's joint issues. I cannot recommend it for that reason, but it doesn't make it a bad product. In fact, he found it tasty enough not to spit, which is impossible with Strand syrup he was prescribed, and it didn't affect his stool–again unlike Strand. What really helped him was a gelatinous-rich diet, if you wonder, but the smell is horrendous and it definitely made him fart like crazy. So, considering this, I think, it doesn't hurt to try these soft chews and see if it does your pet any good before looking for something else. I currently have large breed dogs totally 435 lbs. They each get Purina One for large breeds plus a baked chicken hindquarter. I mix the oil from the baked chicken and some hot water and mix it all together. They gobble it down like nobody's business. The Great Dane was on a different brand for a few months and she started to lose her fur all over her back. As soon as I put her back on her Purina One, the fur grew back. She is nearly 6 but acts like a 1 year old. The other 2 are Newfies, one is 6 and the other is 4. The 6 year old tore up both knees and TPLO surgery was needed and has steel plates in both rear legs and has arthritis now. between the Purina One and a supplement of CBD oil, she is back to instigating play with the other 2 beasts. The only reason I mix chicken is I get it from a restaurant supply my neighbor runs and is only 40 cents a lb and is people quantity food. So I use the chicken as a known source of protein, not to make them eat the Purina better (they have eaten it alone and still love it). I can say that my dog and my roommates dog absolutely love the flavor of this food! Even the look of it is unlike many kibbles I have seen in the past. It looks almost as if there are real dried chunks of chicken in the kibble. The #1 ingredient is chicken, and I am overall very happy with the ingredient list. I was lucky enough to receive this product complementary for review. I gave some to my roommates dog (in the past, he has had a sensitive stomach when it comes to various foods) both my dog and my roommates dog seemed to love this food and I didn't notice any issues with digestion afterward! Short term, I can confidently say this is a delicious tasting kibble with a good ingredient list. It is hard to get a long term idea of how your dog will react to new foods in the sense of a tangible difference in joint health/mobility/etc. from a bag this size. I would consider switching my dog (large GSD Mix~75lb) to this food to protect his joints as his is extremely active and I am happy with it so far!shania.f

I received a complimentary bag in exchange for my honest review. I was unsure about mixing this into my older labs’ food, as one of them is very sensitive to food changes. I liked how the ingredients compared to their usual kibble (Science Diet Large Breed), so I gave it a go. My labs are 11 and 8, and they’ve been on joint supplements for years; I like that this Purina One formula contains glucosamine and chondroitin, although the amounts are too small to replace the need for additional supplementation. I was impressed by the size of the kibble, as my guys will not chew if the kibble is too small. I can’t say how my labs’ coats and skin look with this food, as I haven’t fed this exclusively. I would consider switching to Purina One based on the lower cost compared to other kibbles with similar ingredients.sarah.w

Our 2 year old Doberman was on Eukenabu large breed all his life (puppy and then switched to adult). However, after dealing with supply chain issues and not being able to find a bag in a 200 mile radius three times, I gave up on the brand. I switched our dog to Purina Pro Plan adult large breed dog food and the transition went smoothly, no diarrhea or upset stomach. The best part is, no change in his stool. It remained solid, easy to pick up and cleanly breaks apart. He also retains his nice shiny coat. And the greatest thing is Purina Pro Plan is made here in the States and not imported like some Mars, Inc. owned dog food manufactures, i.e. Eukanuba, Royal Canin – so it is readily available.5teve0

Have an Australian shepherd/German shepherd mix. Started feeding Purina puppy chow as a puppy then when the time came went to this Purina Pro Plan for large breed. Vet said it is a good choice. Para has never turned his nose up when his food is put down for him and always eats it all, most times looking for more. I attribute his beautiful shiny coat to this food, also no digestive problems. I was so happy to have found this food when my puppy was little as it is the only one I could find that caused her to have firm poops. Any other food I tried her and she had very loose stools. Now we have to transition her to an adult formula as she is no longer a puppy. I moved to the adult version very very slowly. I am talking less than a handful in each dish of her old food and she has so many loose watery stools it’s terrible. It’s even causing her to go in the house overnight if she can’t hold them. Why did you have to change this formula so much? I had finally found one that she has been on in over a year with no issues. I now do not have an adult dog food I can give her and I am back to the drawing board. Very disappointing you couldn’t just keep things the same- but for an adult instead of a puppy.Jb3401

Absolutely one of the best food I've had my dogs on I like to mix it with taste of the wild because I like taste of the wild 2 and since mixing the two foods together and being it to my 1 year old male dog and my 3 month old male dog the shedding has drastically dropped bowel movements have been great and their activity level has been remarkably perfect along with their resting time and allowing me to sleep throughout the whole night. I've been feeding this to my GSD for almost two years now and am quite satisfied with this food. Good nutrition and ingredients at a very good price. Cannot say enough good things about this food. We struggled for so long trying to find the right formula for my dog with allergies. After months of searching, we found this recipe and my dog has never been happier, healthier, and has never gotten so many compliments on his beautiful coat before! Over the Christmas holiday, my senior Italian Greyhound (he's nearly 13) took a fall off the bed and I had to rush him to the vet for x-rays. The vet said she found a slightly enlarged heart, and blamed it on the organic grain-free food I had been feeding him for years. The scientific jury is still out on the causal relationship between dilated cardiomyopathy and grain-free food, but nonetheless that is how I ended up purchasing Open Farm salmon+ancient grains food. I wanted something *super clean*, where I could trace the origin of the ingredients and which would not put any strain on his heart. It's only been a few weeks so I cannot say unequivocally that the Open Farm food is responsible for the following positive effects, but I will share them here and perhaps someone from the company can comment: 1) my dog used to have a leaky tear duct (left eye) and since starting OF food, it is significantly reduced; 2) my dog's personality has shifted in terms of fear–he is a rescue who was previously abused and in the 7 years since I rescued him, he has always been scared of public interaction at the dog park–since starting OF food, he has been so much more social and happy, willing to sniff dog butts and romp around rather than nervously sticking by my side! 3) his poop has changed so he doesn't go as much and the poops are not as large; with his old food that he was on for years, he would barely be able to wait to go outside in the morning but now he does not have any urgency at all. I assume this is a positive thing as perhaps he is retaining more nutrients, but unsure. The poops are solid as they were previously, but now they are a bit drier and much smaller/less frequent. All in all, he seems to really enjoy the food and i am so pleased with his behavior change and the reduction in tear duct leakage! I bought a 4lb bag of every recipe to try. Unfortunately they won't eat it! They are usually on raw but now they are 14 and 17, they are getting fussy and I wanted some other options to have on hand when they have those fussy days. They like Ziwipeaks (freeze dried), Acana and Orijen (lentils) sometimes, and I've tried Firstmate (potatoes) but I wanted to try something without all the lentils or potato, so went for a Quinoa mix. I'm obviously not a dry food/kibble buyer, so can only compare to the ones mentioned above. After using the above mentioned, I expected on opening the bag to be hit with a good smell but of the three bags I opened, salmon, chicken and beef, there wasn't much of a smell and they were very similar. I transitioned and mixed with the other dry food I have and they ate around and left Open Farm. I have tried but after a week of them leaving and then trying, and me thinking they may decide they like it, they have officially refused and my one dog even pushes the bowl away with her nose. I loved the idea of the product and the humane farming and wanted to support that idea but if they won't eat it, then it's not for us. I guess it's possible that the quinoa gives off some odour that they don't like. There was a bit of grass eating and very slight tummy upset, so maybe quinoa doesn't suit them, as they have tough stomachs on raw and this was unusual to see. When I tried them on Ziwipeaks, Acana and Orijen while on raw, they never had any issues, so I can only think of the quinoa that's the possible culprit.Helen E.

My dog is allergic to chicken and it took us a long time to figure it out. The vet recommended we get a really expensive prescription diet for her and if we had not been able to find something else we probably would’ve had to surrender her because we could not afford to feed her that food. This brand is by no means cheap. It’s expensive but the food is a premium quality, and it is about 10 times cheaper than the prescription diet we were recommended. This was the first food that we tried that didn’t cause my dog to throw up or have a bathroom emergency. We have sons found other comparable options within the same price range or slightly cheaper that don’t cause her to flare up, but this food will forever have a place in my heart as the one that worked when nothing else did.bree.b

I have been using this brand of food for years with many dogs. It is alao the only food that my lab and sheltie can stomac (and I have tried over 30 different brands) but, my lab gobbles the large breed food because the kibble is so small. Even with a slow feeder bowl, he inhales it. I have tried even 1 piece at a time, nope doesn't chew. This is the only brand I have seen that has such small sized kibble for their large breed kibble. I am truly hoping that Nutro eventually makes their kibble size larger in the large breed lamb and rice as to help prevent bloat and clean teeth. I has transitioned my dog to this food over the past month or so using small bags. This particular recipe is only available in the large bags. Decided to buy one since he fully transitioned over to the brand. Couple days in he decided it was no longer worthy. Hot water added, wet food added, even tried bone broth. He refused to eat it. I love this brand and I wish my dog wasn’t so picky. Absolutely nothing wrong with Nutro, I will still recommend this food to any senior dog owner. Unfortunately I came across a point in my life where I couldn't have my shihtzu maltese mix for a short amount of time (30-45 days). So a family member of mine agreed to care for him while I was gone. He also has a pure German rotweiler and a boxer pit mix. One of the happiest days I should have had quickly turned terrible. The day I went to get my little buddy back I find that he is malnourished and it seems the other dogs had been chewing on his ears and tail (open sores and severe hair loss). I immediately took him to my local mom and pop pet store (my vet was closed for the day). They recommended this product and I cannot stress enough the wonders that it worked. I think everyone else has given similar reviews praising the product, but I just want to mention my experience as a Shar Pei owner. The Hot Spot Spray works well to dry up mucin bubbles associated with Cutaneous Mucinosis. I keep this on hand at all times. If you are a Shar Pei owner, you should also. This is some of the best dry puppy food I’ve ever used. I currently have an 8 month old Shihtzu puppy and he has been eating this since he was old enough to have dry food. I have 4 dogs – upon gaining my 4th as a baby, I wanted to switch him into something good as he had been eating Puppy Chow and I hated the way it smelled. After doing research regarding recalls, ingredients, and reading other reviews, I decided to try Whole Earth Farms grain free. I started with the puppy kibble and as he got bigger had to get him into the adult food – as he should. My other 3 are little dogs who had eaten Beneful their entire lives. While we’ve never had any problems with Beneful and they love it, I found them picking pieces from the puppy’s bowl like it was a treat. I slowly weened them all off of Beneful and were now a Whole Earth Farms family. They enjoy switching up the flavors with each new bag, but we still keep it grain free. My puppy’s sensitive belly has been tame and my little guys love it too. I’d I had to pick on something, I would say sometimes the different flavors are kind of “greasy” or have a weird smell to me. The dogs seem to love it though!tk.b

My wife and I have had our 8 year old Collie and 3 year old Lab on the beef and rice blend for about 9 months and they love it. We had tried at least 5 other brands before WEF and the only other brand that had worked for us was Honest Kitchen which is over 2x as expensive and has horrible stock issues. We've had no digestive issues, loss of interest, or other food related problems that we had battled previously. We've seen a huge turn around in our Collie's energy levels and you can't put a price on that. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. P.S. My only "issue" is with the recommended portions. My dogs both have leveled out at just over 85 lbs (exactly what our vet has wanted) with about 2 1/2 cups per day each. You just need to figure out what works for your dog. Obviously can use the recommended as a starting point, but don't take it as a requirement.Jake

My dog is mainly on a home cooked diet. We have been giving her about 1-1 1/2 cups a day of the puppy recipe as added insurance that she receives all her nutrients. She has been eating this without a problem for about 8 years. Our supplier finally changed over to the new stuff a couple of months ago. Well, it took a while (it seems to be cummulative) but she has been severely constipated. We increased the fiber in her diet, we increased fluids, we started her on stool ease supplements, nothing works. So unfortunately, its time to discontinue this much loved kibble. The old recipe truly was perfect, I honestly don't understand why you would remove some of the best ingredients (oatmeal, BROWN rice, salmon oil, etc.), Thank you.Jenijojojo44
