Dasuquin is an updated product from Nutramax. We gave Nutramax Cosequin to old German Shepherd and Australian cattle dogs that have since passed on because it gave them relief from joint pain that was obvious in the improvement in their ability to get up and lie down and run again. I'm giving maintenance doses of Dasuquin to two large dogs we have now that are age 4 and 5yr to extend the life of their joints. The ingredients are similar to human nutritional supplements for older people: Glucosamine, chondroitin, brewers yeast, dextrose, green tea extract, gum resin, lecithin, cellulose, mixed tocopherols, flavoring and soy protein. avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) ….. We haven't used Dasuquin long enough for a long term review so my rating is based on previous experience with Nutramax products. The tablets are 3/4 inch in diameter. My dogs won't eat them as they are so I break them into fourths with my fingers and drop them into their food. The tablets are easy to break. If your dog is getting older I recommend this product along with high quality dog food and fresh water.William
I was told my dog had a luxating patella. We would hear his knee popping in and out all the time. Baxter has been on Dasuquin with MSM for many years, and so far we have never had to consider surgery. Baxter gets one full tablet every morning with his morning meal. I bought this as the reviews were mostly positive. I have only been giving it to my two dogs for about 3 weeks, one is a 8 year old lab mix and the other is a 6 year old English Mastif. Had my pup on Cosequin which has helped him tremendously so comparing the two I didn’t see too much of a difference in ingredients. Hoping this does the same for him especially since it’s a tad cheaper. Our dog will not eat these. I can't trick him, entice him or even force him to eat these. They have a terrible smell and I don't find any proof at all that they work anyway. I don't recommend these at all. They were a total waste of money. We even gave some to a friend for his dog and they refuse to eat them as well. I have two 18 month old dogs they are Australian Shepherd and heeler mix and I have had them since they were 4 weeks old. My little girl recently started showing signs of hip issues and I was concerned enough to research options that are non surgical to see if it would help. I have 2 senior cockapoos. One has IVDD (disc disease in his back) and the other has suffered with joint pain on and off in her paws, pretty much her whole life. I give 2 chews every day to my 10 year old girl after her walk as a "treat". She loves them, but more importantly, I've noticed a difference in how she climbs stairs. She had been crying at the bottom of the cellar stairs lately, frightened to make the climb. I'd watch her put one foot on the bottom step and then back away. We had to coax her to come up and she eventually would, but it was a struggle. She may have been sore due to age and afraid to put pressure on her legs. Since she has been on the Vet Strength Mobility Bites, she must be feeling better, because she is her old self walking up the stairs and has pep in her step.
I have been giving my dog (a 12-year old golden retriever) the Zesty Paws Dog Vet Strength Mobility every day for at least several weeks now. With the dog being of advanced age — especially so for a large-breed dog — I understand that it's important to be realistic when it comes to evaluating the improvement in mobility he might derive from the supplement. I honestly think that this is the type of supplement that needs to be given to a dog for at least several months before its effects can be assessed; however, over the past week or so, my dog appears to have started having an easier time with getting up from a sitting or laying position, and he also seems to be more puppy-like in his behavior, such as when he runs around the yard or chases after tennis balls. I will continue to give him the supplement each day in the hope that his strength and mobility will continue to improve.

I contacted the manufacturer, who confirmed that the formula is the same as their cat joint relief product; the dosage and texture is just different between the two. So I buy this for my 2 cats and 1 dog to avoid having to buy two different products that are essentially the same thing. I crumble 1 treat into my senior cats' wet food each day and give 2 daily to my young dog for preventative purposes. Before starting on these, both of my cats had showed some natural decline in mobility, and one of them had torn his ACL tear when attempting a high jump. After just a few days of these treats, both cats showed greater mobility, and the one with the ACL injury was jumping again after a little over a week. After several weeks, he's moving like the young, athletic cat he used to be. Most importantly, nobody seems to be in any discomfort anymore. … I will just say, though, that this new advanced formula with collagen is much stiffer/denser than the regular formula without collagen, so crumbling the treats can be a little bit of a pain. I have a brave little mini doxie that would take on the meanest badger, but hates storms or loud bangs of any kind. If you are reading this you know what I mean, pawing, panting, whining, she stands on top of me during the night and puts her face in mine like…make it stop! Anyway, we just went through 3 nights of SEVERE thunderstorms, one right after another. Yesterday I was sleep deprived from her response to the storms, so I visited TSC to see if there were any options that could possibly help and WOW is all I can say. Last night’s storms were so bad and SHE slept and awakened this morning a happy girl. Magic, pure magic! Like with people, melatonin either works for you or it does not, but if you have a pup that has issues with stressful situations it is certainly worth a try. My senior Sheltie has been on a daily regime of the Moderate Care Hip Flex. I praise this product, because not only has this supplement eased the aches and pains of an aging dog, but my dog also really loves the taste. I don't worry about having to dress her meals up, which is a delight. She will eat her supplement with no fuss! Her brewer's yeast always needs fish oil on top, but not her Hip Flex. I have also noticed she is less stiff (this is a year and a half of use). Her limp, which is slight, is unnoticeable most days. This is very expensive for lifetime use, but absolutely worth every penny. My pitbull baby girl Latte is only 4 &1/2 years old and has moderate hip dysplasia. Glyde plus Gabapentin has given her, her life back! We tried the cheaper option of Dasquin and Rimadyl but it didn't help at all and actually made her much worse because it made her so sick and miserable all she did was lay in her bed. We started our 10-year old, 130 pound dog on this a little over 6 weeks ago and we can see a major difference in his mobility/agility. This product is fantastic! My Labrador is now 13 but has had arthritis since middle age (plus she also had elbow and knee surgery at an early age). This is not what I would call a 'chew'. It is more like packed powder. My dog does not even like them. That said, I sprinkle the powder into her FreshPet food and she eats it that way. She was almost unable to walk before I ordered this, one of her hind legs was suddenly too painful to move and she would end up falling over. Pain medication from the vet fixed that, but I was afraid it would only cause more harm if she couldn't feel pain and overdid it. I've been giving her these for weeks now and it has made such a huge difference in her. She no longer needs the pain meds at all. I didn't think these were going to actually work, but I'm so very glad I ordered them. They literally added years to her life now that she can get around so well again. I had been referred to Cosequin's powder made for horses some time back for an old Basset with a bad back and had always given it to all my bigger, older dogs but the big containers are big and expensive (because they're intended for horses) and I'm down to just one dog that needs it so when I ran out I tired a different Glucosamine supplement which was an utter failure for my big, old guy. Within just one month of that supplement he was struggling to get up from the floor and falling UP the stairs… (I know, he should not be on the stairs anymore, but try and tell him that…) I moved to these tablets (which are made by the same company as the horse powder) and he was immediately back to normal! I have looked at many different joint supplements for dogs, and what I have noticed is that most of them are lower mg per tablet/chew than Cosequin. You really get the bang for your buck on this product and it seems to be of high quality – plus it really works! I have a 15 year old blue heeler thats rounded up a lot of cattle in her day. I noticed she wasnt getting around as well in her old age so I started this product. It takes about 4-6 weeks to start working, but when it does watch out! The only down side is that she started chasing moving vehicles again and the irrigation guy ran over her front leg with a dirtbike so I had to get a cast put on. She healed up nicely though and is just fine now, so the story ends well. Bottom line, I definitely know this worked well for her and greatly improved her quality of life in her old age. She couldn't walk more than a couple blocks before wanting to lay down or me having to literally tug her along. NOW. Totally different dog. I can't really say much about this because I can't take it myself and my dog can't tell me what they think about it but what I could tell you is that These are the perfect size for large sized dogs. They do have a stinky dog food/smell to it and you definitely gotta wash your hands after handling it. My dog normally does not take anything other than treats however he thinks this is a treat and has no problem taking it. He doesn't fight me about it and he doesn't spit it out or any of that. I am hoping overtime that we see a difference and that this works effectively as effectively as it's intended to. Over all I would recommend it to any dog owners. These seem to be great. Both of my dogs LOVE them. We have a 2 year old French Bulldog as well as a 8 year old Boxer, and both dogs seem to absolutely love them, as well as they both do great with them. No runs throw up etc.. I'm not gunna lie and say I know they work as far as Hip and Joints go, because unfortunately I cant talk to my dogs so they cant relay how they feel to me and neither one of them have problems as of right now, but what I do know is both of my dogs breeds are known for joints and hip problems, especially Ozzie our little Frenchie, so I feel like anything like this with a good ingredients list cant hurt as long as the dogs body is accepting them without obvious problems. Also, French bulldogs are more prone to having reactions and allergy problems etc, but Ozzie does great with these and has had no obvious problems, reactions, side effects etc.. So overall I am VERY happy with these, as well as my 2 pups, they both go crazy when I dig these out. They are SUPER stinky to us humans lol so they must taste amazing for them. This is the love of my life, Murphy. He is 15 1/2 years old. That is not a typo. Dr. Buzby, How do you properly thank someone that has given you the gift 💝 of added time with the one you love?? Ollie/Oliver is my 14 1/2 year old Golden Lab / White Shepherd. He was born with hip dysplasia and got arthritis quite young. He is no stranger to pain!! He was hit by 2 cars at a year and a half and his leg was crushed. He came back from that and you would never have known he got hurt like that!! He has been my best friend and gotten me through some of the worst things I have “EVER GONE THROUGH”!! He has been in good health besides the arthritis until 13 years old. His Thyroid, liver and kidney started acting up and I got the liver and kidneys back normal with supplements and my vet!! He is on Thyroid medication! He is on 2 medications for pain daily and was on a supplement with glucosamine and that wasn’t enough!!
