While the quality of the product itself is good, there are 2 issues that would keep me from purchasing this product. 1. Maybe not a deal breaker for some, but the bolsters (headrest) on the backside made my dog dislike the product. My dog likes to be back close to the back of the couch and this pushes her away and closer to the edge. 2. The main issue I have is the cost spent for a glorified blanket. While it may be nice to have couch anchors and nice material, we have found that our pets love to just have a nice blanket to lay on. Works just as well. Can use any color. This bed is poorly designed. There is a rubber noodle attached to elastic to hold the bed in place on your chair of couch, unfortunately, the elastic is extremely long. Because of this the bed hangs down to the floor and the couch or chair is not protected and there is no where for the dog to get up on it without falling off. Bad design. If you do not use the straps, once the dog jumps up on the couch, it will slide off with the dog and all on the floorGigi1957

The couch cover was missing the pieces that clip in to the back and hold it in place on the couch; without these pieces it's about as stable as a towel placed on the couch (e.g., not stable at all). I requested a return, printed the return label and returned it to a UPS store within two days of receiving the item from Target's third-party vendor. This a replacement, the 2nd one the zipper failed again. My 1.5 year old likes to carry the bed around and scratch to get comfortable. This is 2xs now the zipper has failed. I won't be buying again.Tina M.

We received a beautiful dog bed. The cover was made well, really sturdy and easy to remove and clean. The bed insert was shipped well and a good fit. Unfortunately the duvet was more brown than the royal color we had expected. And the zipper was too short to allow us to easily put the bed together. Finally the bed we had intented the duvet for was just a tiny bit too large and the duvet would not work – there was no slack. But we did find another bed in another room to use with the duvet.Jerry

My reviews are mixed. This is a HORRIBLE design. It comes unassembled and you have to assemble. Which means you need to push in the arms of the couch inside the case. Horrible design because the zipper doesn't wrap around the sides which means you are trying to push the stuffing into an impossible space. I am sweating and it's taken me 30 minutes and I still can't stuff the stuffing in. It's a two person job. It's like trying to restring the string in your pull spring hoodie that fell out after you washed it. Do you know what that's like? Trying to push the string into a hoodie? After purchasing and returning several greatly inferior brands, I finally broke down and purchased my second of these. Pricy, but they last a lifetime. (My original is at least 10 years old, has been washed countless times, and is still great!) These are the only thick and comfortable dog beds I have ever found. My two English Springer Spaniels sleep comfortably together in a size large. You need some minimal strength and agility to assemble them, but it's not as difficult as some reviewers have suggested. If you're elderly or disabled, just get some assistance. The dogs love their couch / bed better than MY couch and bed – which was exactly my goal!Ronnnnr

The assembly of this dog couch is way too difficult. It is almost impossible to get the bolsters in their "channels", and then to get the main mattress inserted is also a challenge. I'm on the floor for 45 minutes wrestling with this thing, and exhausted when I'm done. I dread every time it needs to be washed. I did just see some replies from LL Bean that suggests turning the cover inside out to insert the bolsters. I'm waiting now for the thing to dry, having just washed it. I'll try the inside-out suggestion, but it will still be difficult to get the main mattress back in. Given that there are so many other reviews of this product that comment on the difficult assembly, has LL Bean looked into re-designing this product? To make it easier to get the bolster pads and main mattress in and out of the cover, perhaps a more complete zipper opening would help? Other than that, the materials have held up decently and the therapeutic foam is only now starting to break down after five or six years. Our dog does seem to like laying on it.Steve B

We have purchased the Premium Fleece Dog Bed for many of our dogs and they are always enjoyed by our dogs. They seem to find them comfortable to snuggle into the fleece and the soft, cushy filling. They are easy to clean with the quick zip-off cover. They fit nicely in spaces in any room. Our dog also has the LLBean couch bed and has really liked that too. I cover the couch bed with an LLBean dog blanket that I can wash quickly because it is not as easy to remove/replace the couch bed cover for washing as how easily the Premium Fleece Dog Bed cover can be washed. I purchased the Premium Fleece Dog Bed Set, Medium, Rectangular as well as the Replacement Cover in Denim. I have a 12 lb. Chihuahua/Fox Terrier that is about the size of an average Jack Russell or Beagle and she loves, loves, loves her bed. The padding is well made and has a little bit of a groove all around with a little bit of a bump in the center. So it is not completely flat, which I have learned from observing our furry pet that it serves a purpose. She likes to rest within the groove for security. On other days she likes to rest her head and chest on the bump in the center which elevates her a little bit. Our dog used have a cheap bed that became too soft and did not hold up well once it got old. Especially when she laid against the side walls. It had a tendency to flatten out. Plus, it had a plush-life fabric that was too warm in the summertime, and she would hang partially off the bed onto the hardwood floor which is cooler. So, comfort, temperature, structure, and durability were factors taken into consideration in searching for a new bed. I had read reviews about the padding falling apart in the washer or tearing from digging. I have not had to wash the pad because I have covered the bed and denim cover with a crib-size bed pad and a fitted bedsheet for added protection; and because our pooch has always enjoyed the feel and texture of a bedsheet. She just got used to looking for cooling spots on her beds after we tried keeping her cool on other retailer beds that had either foam or cheap fill which caused her become too warm. But she does love her Sherpa adult throw. Not familiar with L.L. Bean pet products, I decided to purchase the bed set that came with the fleece cover and also ordered the replacement cover in denim which is a soft denim. It is not stiff or rough as in jean denim. I was concerned the fleece cover might be too warm, and I wanted to have the option to change from a warmer cover to a cooler one being that it was summertime when my order arrived, so that was the reason in my purchasing the denim replacement cover as well. When my order arrived, I placed the denim cover on the pad and it has held up really well. It doesn't show dirt and our pooch likes it. I was afraid it would rip when she sniffed the bed and began digging but that has not been the case. So it has stood pretty well to that. I have not replaced the denim cover with the fleece cover yet, but weather is starting to change and getting cooler. I will probably change from the denim liner to the Sherpa liner soon. I also want to add that I ordered a medium size bed which is a little bigger than what is recommended for a dog her weight/size because she likes to spread out. That was also one reason why I chose a bed that is not enclosed or has side walls. If it's any help to anyone reading this review, the medium bed is about four inches short the length of a baby crib mattress. It's the best bed I have bought. I haven't seen anything else at other stores that meet the same quality of L.L. Bean products, and I highly recommend this bed.Mimi

We use these in our hotel for our guests that bring their dogs and, oh boy, do we get a LOT of guests with adorable dogs of all ages and sizes. These beds are holding up amazingly well through multiple washings. I'm actually here on the LL Bean website to order more because we have had so many dogs staying with us, we have had nights where we did not have enough dog beds to accommodate all of our four-legged guests. I highly recommend these beds. We have the Platinum color and they look very classy and are still so durable and stain-resistant. Searched over a year for a quality dog bed @ a reasonable price. I have three Labrador Retrievers, and therefore needed a very durable bed. I bought two for two dog beds. Washed and dried and they went on quite easily. They truly are air-tight because I had to squeeze the air out before I zippered. I have been looking for a great bed for our dog with epilepsy. Seizures can really put a dog bed through the ringer. We have tried others that are difficult to wash, or tear during a seizure. What appealed to me about this bed is the ability to fill it with our old t shirts and things, making the filling washable, PLUS being able to add a water-resistant liner. Shipping was insanely fast. I got a shipment notification less than an hour after placing my order. When the bed arrived, I loved that the duvet was made of thick, tough material, but is still comfortable for my dog. She LOVES it! Luckily, we haven’t had to test durability through a seizure yet, but when that happens, I feel confident that this bed will hold up wonderfully and be easy to wash.Laura M
