K9 Advantix 2 Extra Large Dog For Sale (2024 Update)

I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. So I'm not sure exactly what's going on but the package I received appeared to be authentic. All serial numbers matched and packages were sealed well. Never had this happen before but definitely going back to Frontline Plus.kschoern

Overall satisfaction level: good. No bad reactions from my chihuahuas. I use a syringe to dispense the correct dose for each size dog so the large size dog package is economical and lasts a good while. It seems to be fast acting but loses potency after a couple of weeks. I seem to recall other products lasting longer, maybe a whole month. Not a big issue since these inside dogs could use a bath every other week any how.bbrb972

I pour these tubes into a tiny glass vial. Then I use a needle-less syringe to draw up a cat-sized dose depending on the cat's weight. I apply it to my cats. I save a lot of money this way. Advantage 2 for dogs has exactly the same ingredients as the flea medicine for cats. (Do NOT do this with other brands of dog treatment. Always check labels first… and learn how much your own cat needs before applying it.) I've used Advantage 2 for many, many years. It has never failed my cats. They simply do not get fleas. I've never had a flea in my house. I treated my neighbor's flea-bitten dog last month. The poor creature was crawling with flea. After Advantage 2, the fleas were gone the next day. This product works great on dogs and cats, says no cats but it is the same ingredients as the dogs, have been using this for years on both. I buy the Large dog size and cut the tops off and pour in a old medicine vial then I use a 3cc syringe to suck it up. Cats I put about 1/2 a cc which is 1/2 of 1 cc . It does does not take much and use about this much on my little dogs too. Larger dogs I use about 2cc and NEVER DO THEY HAVE FLEAS and it last way longer. Advantix I use only on the dogs as this is not to be used on cats but use this when ticks are bad. Great Products to use.blonds05

I am hesitant to use these types of products compulsively for preventive measures. Fortunately, We’ve not been in an area where fleas are out of control outside, as we have had problems in the past with other pets. These types of topical medicines would only be effective for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 weeks at best. And then our previous dog, and coincidentally our cat also, developed tumors where these types of medicines were being applied. I can’t say for certain that they were the cause. But it’s very suspicious that it happened in both animals. The dog we noticed first. And maybe a year or so later our cat. They both lived to past 11 years. And our dog was also on meds for epilepsy. Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him. His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far. And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month. And in my opinion, it works better than capstar, which is meant as a short acting topical to immediately relieve a flea problem getting out of control. But for whatever reason, this works better for us, even though it might take a few days to really notice results. (I never really noticed immediate results with. Capstar. It helped make the problem not get any worse. But it didn’t solve the problem either.)shelly.c

I absolutely loved this for my fur babies! What I DID NOT love was that like this past year, flea/tick season was so weird! Twice I found LIVE TICKS on me, after loving up on my baby boy, Lizard. (Male black n white cat) He is an indoor/outdoor baby, but I haven't ever had a problem like this until now. Worth mentioning, my female brindle colored cat also had irritation from this year's applications. She has to have prednisone each day, along with a topical treatment, otherwise she's in agony from inflammation and itching! I am NOT stating that it was the fault of this brand. I have no proof of that. I just wanted to make others aware that these things happened after the dosing though.pamela.g

I use advantage on my dogs and cats every month. In a state where fleas are inevitable because of the heat, this product has been my saving grace. When you are treating your animal for the first time it's important to read the directions. An infestation should be treated 2 weeks later, then monthly after. It's also important to treat your home and/or yard to help prevent eggs that have already been laid from hatching. Furthermore, the weight of your animal should be known to use the correct amount. Too little will not give the correct protection. Lastly, skipping monthly treatments will be vital to constant protection so it's extremely important to treat monthly. I will also add that I have 3 dogs and 9 cats that live flea free because of this product. Happy animals, happy life.Mizangel07

This works well. It is non greasy and doesn't have a funky smell like some other topical flea meds. The problem with topical is that sometimes they stop working . Therefore you switch to the other brand . But so far I have not had to switch. It definitely works well and recommend to many people.deb.n

Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him. His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far. And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month. I bought this one day on the recommendation of the pet store clerk. What I liked is that it was easy to apply, and it work quickly and efficiently , neither of my dogs had any type of negative side effects, there was no redness or scaliness or itchiness at the point of the application, and less than 36 hours all fleas were sufficiently gone. I did do the reapplication Nearly one week early. Only because it was in the thick of flea season and my neighborhood is filled with stray/feral kitty cats.fran.c

It's affordable and better than similarly priced other topical products. I prefer an oral product but not all will eat it, so I use this for those animals. Lasts about 2 weeks only. Gets rid of about 80% of the fleas.randi s

Don't really know what changes was done to the formula . But Advantage 2 works no where near as good as it as the original formula . My cat(s) for years have always been an inside cat & used it for years with great success. I recently adopted a cat & started using Adtg.2. A week to a week & a half is about tops before you start to see your cat start scratching again. Not good especially for what they charge for the stuff. Another example of "don't fix it if it ain't broke". But I guess the all mighty dollar took care of that. Next time I take my cat to the vet I'll ask about other options. I received the 11- 20 Lbs, ordered the 20 -55 lbs, but kept it because he is just a bit over the 20 lbs (22 lbs and trying to get him back to 19 lbs) I am disappointed with the wrong one, but was aprehensive about the larger dose, when In ordered so am not upset with the mistake. Received in the time quoted, with no problem. I so far woild recommend it, no problems here and no fleas or ticks.BETTY

I ordered and received Advantix II for medium eleven to twenty pound dogs. It works nicely for our two mini dachshunds. The package was received in good condition and in a timely manner. My vet recommends this product.Betty

I love Advantix, for all my dogs. I can not find any thick or flea until i Started using it. About 7 years ago. Before.. I could find about 25 ticks on my retriever after walking in a forest during the afternoon …M. Berlec

you always want to protect your fur babies from fleas so I decided to try this (I've tried several other as well and nothing has worked) it spreads through the hair even though you part it and put on scalp (its a mess) the fleas never went away even after several treatments. I clean bedding floors almost daily with rid flea spray (which actually helps the most). I won't be buying this application again and donated the rest to the shelterLisa AG

Absolutely the worst flea control ! Not only did it not work but now I have a cat that may be on seizure medication for life ! Horrible is not even strong enuff words to describe this so called flea control I followed and did everything as directed,with absolutely no results! All I got out of this is a cat that was healthy the day I put this on her is now on seizure medication ! My suggestion is consulting a veterinarian for help with a flea problem ,I know I will definitely from this point forward!!!!Sherry Harding

I normally use Frontline Plus but I couldn't find it at the store and I reviewed this product compared to Frontline. The packaging said that it is just as good the only difference was Frontline was more available. Well, I put this on my dog and he still has fleas I used it for another month and he is worse with fleas this is the worst flea and tick medicine I've ever used. This worked on all 3 dogs for approx. 1 week, we are now @ 19 days and fleas are attacking them all. We've treated and washed bedding, sprayed house and outside. Fleas aren't bothering the humans just the dogs. I had high hopes when I saw it was made by Capstar, but am now so disappointed.Dawna

The product seems to be working however my dog still itches once in awhile. There is a possibility when she is taken outside fleas are jumping on my pet. Therefore it is important to also treat the yard too.clov-61

K9 Advantix II is a new product. Not only does it prevent fleas AND ticks (when applied topically down the spine or top line of the dog) in 3 or 4 spots, but it also helps repel mosquitoes. & horse flies. Now, as with the regular Advantage, you should expect to see "greasy" application spots for about 3-4 days, especially on short coated dogs, but these dissipate. The product is also waterproof, but immediate washing (right before or after application) is discouraged for best outcome. If you have a severe flea infestation, do consult with a vet, as to whether to use a different product to start with, as this is more of a preventative once your infestation is under control, although it can kill fleas in all life stages. I have had no fleas on my dogs, since i use one version of Advantage or the other, 'year round, and I go to dog parks & dog training classes weekly, where we are exposed to a LOT of other dogs. I have had excellent results with Advantix, concerning tick-killing abilities with it, as we have a partially wooded fenced lot. the ticks my attach to the dog but die, almost immediately & can be easily removed. Again, best to start using a tick product at LEAST one month BEFORE you expect to start seeing ticks in your area, for the best results. I start in April where I live.halamos0t6c

This product has always been my go to Flea & Tick choice. It has always worked wonderfully for me. But this year, I dont know what happened but it is just not working for me anymore. Days and into a week after application even, the dogs are still itching and chewing on themselves…this stuff is not cheap, especially when you have multiple dogs.I have bought it twice this year already and neither time has it worked. I know there are other products that say they work and are a lot less expensive but I've been using K9 Advantix II for years and I plan on using it as long as I have dogs! We lived in the city and never found a flea on the dogs after using Advatix. Not on the dogs, in the house, or in the yard. Now we live in the country and there are a LOT of ticks… but none on the dogs. The couple that actually attach per year are dead when we find them. We have 5 dogs from chihuahua to a 100 lb Great Pyrenees mix and it works from tiny to extra large. We have a dog door and the dogs have the run of the house, the pasture and the woods so the dogs are exposed to ticks every day. The only issue I've had that I wish I didn't was the application spots are itchy the first couple days on all the dogs. But with protection like this a couple of days of irritated spots each month far outweigh years of being a flea/tick taxi!Country L

I ordered a flea and tick chewable and you sent me this, which are liquid vials you put on your dogs neck. I don't like this type of product and it isn't a comparable replacement product. Not acceptable.Pamela B

Overall satisfaction level: good. No bad reactions from my chihuahuas. I use a syringe to dispense the correct dose for each size dog so the large size dog package is economical and lasts a good while. It seems to be fast acting but loses potency after a couple of weeks. I seem to recall other products lasting longer, maybe a whole month. Not a big issue since these inside dogs could use a bath every other week any how.bbrb972

I pour these tubes into a tiny glass vial. Then I use a needle-less syringe to draw up a cat-sized dose depending on the cat's weight. I apply it to my cats. I save a lot of money this way. Advantage 2 for dogs has exactly the same ingredients as the flea medicine for cats. (Do NOT do this with other brands of dog treatment. Always check labels first… and learn how much your own cat needs before applying it.) I've used Advantage 2 for many, many years. It has never failed my cats. They simply do not get fleas. I've never had a flea in my house. I treated my neighbor's flea-bitten dog last month. The poor creature was crawling with flea. After Advantage 2, the fleas were gone the next day. My neighbor has given up on the useless cheaper flea medications that don't work.woodsycabin

This product works great on dogs and cats, says no cats but it is the same ingredients as the dogs, have been using this for years on both. I buy the Large dog size and cut the tops off and pour in a old medicine vial then I use a 3cc syringe to suck it up. Cats I put about 1/2 a cc which is 1/2 of 1 cc . It does does not take much and use about this much on my little dogs too. Larger dogs I use about 2cc and NEVER DO THEY HAVE FLEAS and it last way longer. Advantix I use only on the dogs as this is not to be used on cats but use this when ticks are bad. Great Products to use.blonds05
