Great Purchase. I used this item for my cats who love to go outside in nice weather. I put it out on my deck with a cat house inside, toys, food, water, and don't forget the liter box. They love it. If extreme hot or bad weather I put in near the house under roof for shade and protection for my cats. This is not for kittens because they will get out; Since this is meant for dogs I made some additional adjustments for my cats and tied the tarp/roof cover to the frame so my kitties could not squeeze out on the top. We love these kennels for our 8 cats. We started with 2, ordered a 3rd and will probably order number 4 shortly. They keep our cats safe at night and confined during the day if necessary. We have a blind cat that has to be kept away from the pet door (to go outside) when we are gone. This works great for him and gives him so much more room than a carrier or cage. The kennel has multiple uses and we are purchasing more for poultry. We purchased this kennel for our two turkeys. It has plenty of room for them or 4-5 adult chickens. However, If you decided to add a nesting box, then you will need to consider the amount of space for foraging. It is sturdy. The tarp has held up to wind and rain. The things to consider with poultry is that they can stick their heads through the wire so you will need to add chicken wire to the bottom all the way around. If you have predators in your area, you can either use an electric fence to keep them away or you can lay wire around the perimeter and then cover with rocks or dirt. You can also add wood poles for roosting and staying above ground. We are going to attempt to put two kennels together as one, knowing in advance that the rain will run down between the two tarps. We have a powerfully built 40 pound mutt who can muscle her way out of her old crate by popping the single latched door open. We had to add an extra clip to the door to keep her in the crate, which is a pain getting the clip on and off to let her in and out. The kennel is made of sturdy metal, the panels are easy to assemble, finished product looks great and is satisfying. Only problem was 1 panel was slightly bent half way up on left side, but doesn’t affect its use. It is noticeable but to get it it replaced would be a huge inconvenience. So living with it. The damage was probably from shipping, I noticed in other reviews others have had shipping damage.
Got this for a large dog to recover from surgery. Not as strong as a large welded wire portable kennel. It does allow more room to stretch out than the large portable kennel. If your animal needs room to move around, this may be a good kennel. Not super sturdy. Walls will moved out since they are connected with brackets (two each panel). May not be escape proof. No attached floor. Fitted tarp cover is nice. There are no cheap kennels out there. This one was priced okay and shipped free to my door. It was packaged well.CheapTX Guy
This is an extremely sturdy kennel and of high quality. Very easy to assemble. I assembled it myself and completely finished it took me about an hour and a half. The only downside is this kennel doesn't come with anchors that go in the ground to give it that extra firm support, however it doesn't appear to need it, as the kennel is extremely sturdy without them. I bought the medium sized kennel for my Shih Tzu. The size is perfect with plenty of room for him to play. The kennel is sturdy with an easy to operate door. The total time to assemble this kennel was about (1) hour (my husband put it together by himself). You will need something to cut the excess wire (the screws on the door need to be cut back before you can cap them off and the wires that connect the fence to the structure need to be twisted and trimmed to avoid injury). The sunshade DOES NOT cover the entire kennel. which I knew about from other reviews. I left the 2 inch gap near the door so I can stick my arm into the kennel and pet my dog while I walk by. This was simple to assemble, and sturdy. The only issues were small: two spots in the chain link fence, the wires didn't weave correctly so there were holes; and the locking mechanism on the gate is very cheap. I don't think I will use the gate mechanism because my dog could easily push it up and open the gate. The picture is very false. Expected it to be in panels to put together. EZ it says EZ it's not. Came in pieces including having to put frame together then wrap chain link around like putting a fence up. So it is not EZ when there is one person and a 10x 10×5 comes in a 5 by 15×12 inch box. This is a very large kennel. It's perfect for a German Shepherd, Husky, Lab size dog etc. Very easy to assemble. The door works flawlessly. I got this because I have 2 senior dogs a Retriever and a Collie mix and needed something to secure them in the back of my suv when taking them to the vet or groomer. I found that it is much safer to transport them this way than to let them be on the back seat unsecured. I finally have the right size kennel to do so. This is a perfect kennel for dogs like labs/retrievers. There's enough room for most dogs that size to stand up. I do wish these kinds of kennels had a few extra slots on the bottom so it wasn't quite so dark. It's very easy to put together. Wow this is exactly what I needed for my favorite fur baby on the planet. It was so easy to put together by myself without any issues. It’s thick sturdy plastic that will last years even decades. My doggy loves to get in and lay down even when we’re not traveling. I leave it set up for him always, it’s like his clubhouse and he truly enjoys it even when traveling I put in my back set and he just lays in it , honestly it’s the best spot in the car to ride now. ….and that is EXACTLY what I would do, if this dog EVER slept. So far, this kennel has saved 4 lives, by providing my partner and I a safe place where our new "rescue" pup can run and play off some of his excess energy, without driving us insane. Also, our little Cocker Spaniel, who is a very dignified (and sedate) 11+ years old, just wants absolutely NOTHING to do with the new pup. N-O-T-H-I-N-G!! Which means, naturally, the pup just thinks the Cocker is his personal chew toy!! So yes, the kennel is great, the materials are of good quality, it is very sturdy, and I especially love the fact that it can be moved to different areas of the yard so the grass doesn't get killed off from the pup's potty in one spot consistently. This was a great deal for the money, and yes, I plan on buying at least one more, maybe two, depending on how huge the pup grows.SophiaL
The nuts on this product are welded and the preset screws are soft and in very tight. This made it difficult to get the screws out without stripping them. I also had problems getting one of the pipes to slide into the other because there was a small piece of metal sticking down inside the pipe. I spent about an hour trying to file that down so i could finish the assembly. So what should have taken maybe two hours, turned into a four hour project. Aside from the horrors of putting the kennel together, it serves it's purpose for my 22 lb dog. I don't know how it will withstand the weather because I've only had it two weeks. It wasn't worth $157 in my opinion.Lola
This kennel is pretty flimsy and won’t hold a large dog that is determined to get out. I used my own tie wire because the ties that were included were a joke. Luckily I only need it for my rabbits and after I made my own gate latch and blocked off the space under the gate it was great for them. I definitely wouldn’t use it for a large dog but it would probably be fine for smaller ones.Customer7373728

Probably great for small or dumb dogs. Not large intelligent escape artists. Easy to put together and provided fairly spacious temporary containment. We purchased for temporary containment while our dog recovered from an injury, the entire intent was to stop her from playing with other dog until she healed. We did ziptie a heavy duty tarp to the entire top to prevent jumping/climbing because we know our dog is smart enough that would be her first move. It was good as a quick solution that didnt last long. It took my dog all of 3 (8hour) days to figure out how to escape. When we got home day 3 she was running free in the yard, she had pulled the gate open (she was able to work the latch loose on its mount ) we tightened it and secured with a chain around the bars to prevent this happening again. When we got home on day 4 she was running loose in the yard again, she had ripped the chain link off the bottom of the gate. It was late and we did not have time for a better solution so we removed the hinges and flipped the gate over. Day 5 we got home and she had been working at the new bottom of the gate but apparently failed to succeed before we caught her.Frustrateddoggo
I thought it was pretty easy to assemble. I did it by myself. I used 3 sides/panels that were attached to a barn wall. Having it attached like that may have added stability to the pen. The dog has a small door (barely visible in one photo) to enter into an enclosed area in the barn that is out of the weather. I have had it almost 4 years now, and it is holding up pretty well. There is some corrosion that is beginning to show on the pipes, but they remain strong. One warning. My Australian Shepard quickly began digging under that bottom pipes of the panels. I ended up lining the ground with stepping stones which makes it look much nicer, neater, easy to clean, and ended the digging attempts. When my dog was first in as a puppy, he did manage to bend several of the square or diamond shaped panels trying to get out. After a while, he gave up on it and I restored them as best I could with pliers. It works great for the Australian Shepard, but I know my Rottweiler (RIP) would have destroyed the chain link in this kennel. Overall, it makes a great place for the dog when he is outside and unattended and we feel confident that he safely contained during that time.Durweed
When looking for a kennel I needed versatility of the gate panels and a roof option. This one along with the optional roof kit made the mark. I combined two kits so I could have a two gate system. The babies when I enter the first gate so I can close it before opening the second gate, keeping my notorious escapees secure. Also because of the brace in the middle of the panels, I was able to secure that second gate at the 5’ mark… making the first section 5’x10’ and the second section 15’x10’. My only complaint would be the bolts. I highly suggest picking up some higher grade bolts separately.Victorious S

We purchased two of these and combined them together to make a 20 x 20 run area for our chickens. The panels go up easy with two people and they just clamp together with the included clamps. Took all of 30 minutes to get the entire thing up. That said, the fence panels are of what I consider "decent" quality: They are by no means super solid, but they aren't exactly flimsy either. To that end, there is no way this would contain any large dog. They could push through the panels if they really wanted to or even climb out. A really large dog might even be able to knock it over if they got too aggressive. However, for my chickens, this makes the perfect easy-to-set-up run. Not sure I would trust it with a large dog, however.ElChupacabra
The 4’ high, 6’ x 8’ Stephens dog kennel was easy to put together and is exactly what I needed.
