Putting this together – I would say that the plastic is a good construction, the clasps and screws are great, and the metal bars for the windows look to be a decent quality. They ship you extra clips and screws in case you have a problem. I personally don't like the wheels (on any crate), so I'll leave those off and the pet bowl might be okay if I was sending the dog via airplane. The Large size isn't very large in my opinion. A dog should be able to stand up, turn around and lay down. I think this crate is more like a 50 pound max than 75. My 10 week old Golden Female Retriever will likely outgrow this kennel in 6 months and be in that weight range. In a way I'd like to exchange it for a bigger one.RichH

I don’t love this cover. There is nothing to hold it onto the crate so it slips about. I am going to sew some ties onto the bottom to help keep it in place. I do like the option to open different parts of the cover for different doors on the crate. The pattern is nice and also.Little cat dog
The cover was just as I expected. Light weight, durable and easy to care for. The oy recommendation I can .American is to add velcro/hook&loop fasteners to keep the top of the cover in place. This would prevent the occupant from chewing and keep the cover in place. The for is drab but it gives the crate a dark den appearance so the occupationt is calm and content. I have found over the years that animals naturally respond favorably to a darkened environment. They are more relaxed and calm. Babies in a crate with natural, artificial, even greatly reduced lighting remain alert, peering into the darkness. They often whine, whimper, or bark, but cover the crate and within minutes, they unwind and are off to sleep. For this reason, I have put dark cloth or a blanket over my crates. These covers make it so much easier, and they don't shift or hang on the floor. They look tidier and I can vacuum around the crate without catching the cover.Zuwadi

Bought this kennel for my then 1 year old, 48 pound female dutch shepherd for primarily an at home kennel with occasional travel needs. I was looking forward to a solid kennel that would last for the life of our pup, particularly considering the cost. It is very heavy and not easy to maneuver from place to place. While the kennel is heavy, the inner walls are actually quite thin. In the end, our Kira has been able to scrape and chew the inner window posts, to the point where she completely chewed away some of the inner plastic bars. She was also able to grab onto the bars from inside and puncture them. Additionally, our veterinarian noted that her teeth had some damage from the crate. I attribute some of the chewing to the roughness along the bottom of the windows (didn't think it would be an issue) which I feel may have given her something to grab onto and work at. I do not consider Kira a high anxiety dog but a busy dutch shepherd. We now leave her loose in the house and return with nothing damaged, chewed, etc. There has been no solution offered by the company except that we should have purchased the chew accessory at additional cost. IMHO I believe the chew panels should be included or offered at a more reasonable price considering the overall cost of the kennel.Christine S.
I love these crates! Amazing quality, awesome customer support and are great for travel or crating indoors. I loved my first one so much that I purchased a second one and will be getting more in the future for my other dog both for inside the house and in the car. I originally bought the intermediate for travel in my old truck but the intermediate was too big for my new SUV (2021 Chevy Trailblazer) so I needed to choose a new travel crate. I went back and forth between a ruffland and a gunner kennel. I decided on the medium gunner after consulting with their customer service (who was super helpful!) for my new car as I feel they are safer than the rufflands, although more expensive and heavier. The medium feels more secure for my 38lb mixed breed dog than the intermediate and I feel so much better knowing that my dog is safe in her crate in the car. I am planning on a second medium for my border collie puppy once he is fully grown! As a side note, two medium crates will not fit side by side in the 2021 trailblazer in the trunk but one will fit in the trunk with 2 out of 3 seats down and the second will fit on top of the folded seats facing out the rear passenger side door. There is no way to fit the medium in this car without putting 2/3 seats down.hayley b.

Even after using carabiners for extra locks. One thing about the Gunner is that he cannot open the door and escape. This is 100% and a huge help for us! But our dog had never shown signs of chewing before. Probably because it was a metal crate in the past. When we got the Gunner I had not seen any reviews about dogs chewing on the product. Or more importantly from the company saying that the side slats are a vulnerable spot for chewing. This would have been a HUGE help to understand that this was a known issue. Once we got the crate we saw our dog was chewing on the slats. After going back online I found that Gunner sells a chew kit for their crates. I did not know this and so I ordered it. By the time it arrived 5-6 days after ordering our dog had destroyed the slats so badly that we had to saw them off for the chew kit to fit flat against the inside of the crate. In conclusion the crate is great for keeping your dog safe from escape and from being able to move around destructively inside. But I would have liked to see something from Gunner saying that some dogs have been known to chew the slats. Bought this kennel for my then 1 year old, 48 pound female dutch shepherd for primarily an at home kennel with occasional travel needs. I was looking forward to a solid kennel that would last for the life of our pup, particularly considering the cost. It is very heavy and not easy to maneuver from place to place. While the kennel is heavy, the inner walls are actually quite thin. In the end, our Kira has been able to scrape and chew the inner window posts, to the point where she completely chewed away some of the inner plastic bars. She was also able to grab onto the bars from inside and puncture them. Additionally, our veterinarian noted that her teeth had some damage from the crate. I attribute some of the chewing to the roughness along the bottom of the windows (didn't think it would be an issue) which I feel may have given her something to grab onto and work at. I do not consider Kira a high anxiety dog but a busy dutch shepherd. We now leave her loose in the house and return with nothing damaged, chewed, etc. There has been no solution offered by the company except that we should have purchased the chew accessory at additional cost. IMHO I believe the chew panels should be included or offered at a more reasonable price considering the overall cost of the kennel.Christine S.
I love these crates! Amazing quality, awesome customer support and are great for travel or crating indoors. I loved my first one so much that I purchased a second one and will be getting more in the future for my other dog both for inside the house and in the car. I originally bought the intermediate for travel in my old truck but the intermediate was too big for my new SUV (2021 Chevy Trailblazer) so I needed to choose a new travel crate. I went back and forth between a ruffland and a gunner kennel. I decided on the medium gunner after consulting with their customer service (who was super helpful!) for my new car as I feel they are safer than the rufflands, although more expensive and heavier. The medium feels more secure for my 38lb mixed breed dog than the intermediate and I feel so much better knowing that my dog is safe in her crate in the car. I am planning on a second medium for my border collie puppy once he is fully grown! As a side note, two medium crates will not fit side by side in the 2021 trailblazer in the trunk but one will fit in the trunk with 2 out of 3 seats down and the second will fit on top of the folded seats facing out the rear passenger side door. There is no way to fit the medium in this car without putting 2/3 seats down.hayley b.

The XL size can be hard to find. Was out-of-stock at Petmate, so I signed up for an e-mail alert when in stock. I am confident I received an alert just as soon as it was being manufactured. I really appreciate that. I ordered two for my Aussies. Yes, is a tad large for them, but they've used this size since they were young, and sleep in them. They can turn around easily in them, the crate has very good air movement, and the sides are straight with no lost space inside as so many have with curved sides. One cover was damaged in shipment. I let Petmate know on a weekend and got an immediate response from customer service. I just sent them a picture of the damage and had a new crate in a few days. Great experience all around. Shipping cost was high, but that's part of the time we live in. I'd been looking for this crate at other locations for a few years. Never found it in XL. Was well worth the shipping cost to me. So my dogs are rescues. The first one hated the metal wire crate. 3 years & another rescue added to our pack I decided to try crating again to save my home. I was a bit nervous because this was a huge investment – I purchased 2 cates & 2 crate beds. I assembled the crates in the bedroom where they would be placed. We have tried many Kennels/Crates for our dog, she suffers from Anxiety and nothing has kept her as safe as this kennel. Any metal kennel, regardless of how indestructible it has advertised to be, we have come home to a scraped up bleeding dog that is out in the house and destroying things. She is a pitbull and she chews through anything. The kennels that are plastic with the metal grates on the side she chews on the door and breaks the metal on the sides and at this point has ruined her teeth. We have put her in the Ruff Land Performance kennel twice, once for two hours, great success and once for an entire day. She was calmer, and no blood or destruction to the crate. Wish I had seen this crate 9 years ago. Another feature we like is that it has a flat floor, rather than one that is either metal grating or has a few round circles protruding to allow stacking of kennels. Ok. I spent hours researching travel kennels and then what size is best for my dog. I have a German Shorthaired Pointer, 62lbs and the Large is perfect for me. Here is why. Depending where I hunt the dog will be sleeping in his kennel over night. The intermediate will work but only if you are driving to and from hunting spots. Please be aware that this product will take weeks to get. Bass Pro advised an arrival date, and that date came and went. I contact them, and they advised if you scroll down it states that it is a drop ship item. So it was in the fine print, but should be shown during checkout/shipping. Bass pro advised that I would just have to wait, and nothing I could do to track it. The customer service lady was very nice, and stated this problem happens and nothing is done about it. We've had a few crates over the years and they are all much of a muchness. However, I really like the way the doors latch on this one. You can simply lift it up and over the little lug at the bottom for a quick shut option, or if you have a rowdy inhabitant, you can also slide across the latch in a traditional manner. Hard to explain, but a neat function. I take one to dog training regularly (it folds up as you would expect although with a big dog it is heavy) and I also pair it with the Midwest Crate Cover which is also nice and light, but provides a visual barrier if things are getting a little exciting outside!Belinda

Wondering if we were sold a used unit. Missing 3 of the 4 rubber feet the one was already attached. Video shows they shoukd be in a bag and how to install. All 4 corner top supports were there 2 were in plastic bag that was ripped open previously and other 2 were in bottom of crate. Looks like part of the paint was worn off on the corners were the supports go. One of the sliding doors squeals as you slide it closed. Couldn't return it as we sold our previous crate already. The packaging of this item was very good. There is a plastic tray in the bottom of the cage, but it is well protected in the box. I took out the crate and it was all one piece, except for the divider. I laid it on the floor and unlatched the obvious clips that were holding the crate in a flat position. There are instructions that come with this crate, but it was so easy to figure out how to fasten the sides, I did not need them. I did review the instructions after and they are very easy to follow and understand. The crate wiring is very sturdy. I have a 45 lb Springer Spaniel and he has no chance of bending the wiring. The latches will not shake open. They fold over and my dog would have to be a magician to open them. There are two entry points. On large area on the lengthy side. And a slider set of doors on the wide side. Both sides have the same type of latches. The tray is very sturdy plastic and can be cleaned very easily. The crate comes with a divider. It is made of the same wiring material. Very sturdy. I only have one dog, so I won't be using it. But it is easy to install. The weight of the crate is not too bad. It comes with a handle on top, but the width of the crate is a bit large to be carrying around far. It is mainly used for repositioning. You won't pick up the crate with your pet inside. But it makes it easy for lifting into my van without my dog inside. I cannot think of any really bad things about this crate. It is a very quality item. Very easy to use. Very easy to fold and stow away when not in use. All in one piece. To get my dog used to using it, I put some treats in the crate. He went right in and was checking it out. Springers love to be in a cave, so I put a blanket over the top and he enjoys his privacy 🙂Charlie
I really like my Lucky Dog Sliding Door Dog Crate. I am disabled so I thought I would have to have someone help me assemble it. But the hardest thing about putting it together was getting it out of the box. Once it was out, it literally took me less than a minute and that was without instructions. It was so easy to see what needed to be done: lift one wall, lift the ceiling and the other wall falls into place. One end has a door with three lift and slide type handles. You can use one, two, or all three. And the front has the sliding door which is nice for a larger animal or for putting the bed in, etc. There is a heavy duty plastic bottom so you don’t have to worry about puppy accidents. There are also plastic sleeves to go on four corners on the bottom to keep it from being fully in contact with the floor, so there’s air flow underneath. This would also protect the floor in the case of the crate moving during use. They also included four corner protectors so that you don’t bang into a sharp edge and injure yourself or damage something. Good thinking. And a really nice feature is the wire wall that locks into place if desired, making the crate a haven for 2 animals or a smaller space for a smaller dog- for instance a puppy that would be overwhelmed by such a large crate now but would need every inch of it later. No need to buy 2 crates- just insert the divider wall now and remove it when the dog has grown enough to use the space. And if I don’t need to use the crate or I need to store it, it folds flat just as it came. Brilliant! I’m sold on this crate! Only downfall is my dog is exposed to whatever is going on around him so I would have preferred to have had this to begin with. Initial impression is positive and the kennel has potential. However, the fail point of this kennel is the door. The welds between the door and the hinge are very poorly done. With light use (maybe a couple times a month) and a well behaved dog that does not fight his kennel or paw at the door, mine broke in less than 2 years. I expect a lot more from a product that costs this much. Furthermore, the company’s solution was a 10% discount on a replacement door, which they conveniently sell for over $130. The kennel is extremely well made. The shape of it maximizes floor space (compared to the Ruff Land), it is extremely well ventilated, and I love that it can be locked. I got this for a ~60lbs. labrador retriever and he seems to love it. Big enough on the inside for him to stand, turn around, and lay comfortably. It's sturdy, but not so heavy that it doesn't move around a little bit when he changes positions. It was easy enough to put together. A couple of the plastic screws didn't seem to have the ends filed off all the way (hard to describe but basically instead of a flat end, the plastic stuck out a little extra on one side instead of being flat across), which made them harder to fit straight through the holes in assembly. Fortunately, they send a few extra, so I had enough that were straight enough to put the crate together. Also, just be aware of the plastic bottom – I ran my hand across the bottom to clean it before putting it together and scraped my hand on a piece of plastic that stuck up a little (it was like a little ring manufacturing imprint). I filed it down before letting my dog in so he wouldn't get scraped on it, but just something to be on the look out for.Labbadabbadoo
The sizing recommendation by the manufacturer seems to be off. Dimensions are not the actual dimensions if you were to take a measuring tape and measure yourself. For my 55 lb border collie mix who sits at 27 inches tall and stands at 37 inches long from nose to base of tail a large would not fit. I ordered the XX Large and that is a way better fit where she can actually sit without being hunched over. This was purchased for air travel as well so I want her to be as comfortable as possible. The material seems relatively durable but it did arrive with a large crack so I will be exchanging. Compared to the Petmate Sky Kennel, this kennel seemed a little bit thinner in material and not as study. However, I order a Sky Kennel in a size Large so perhaps a sizing difference might have affected this. Also, currently, the Sky Kennel is available for a better price on Amazon but not in the size I am looking for.Zozobozo

Most of all, our dog took to it the first time. We had the S, same company. Uma is getting big now. Of course, we chose the same company and same product, just L in size. When a puppy, accidents do happen. It is easy to clean. Uma is about 20lbs now and can stand up in the kennel. Still plenty of height room. She may become 30-40lbs and this kennel will be all we need. Our use is for nighttime and when we go out. We have the gray which does not stand out.
