Frontline Plus Large Dog For Sale (2024 Update)

Let me begin by saying my dogs have never had fleas. Even when I would forget to apply flea treatment on time, they still would not have fleas. I decided to try this product, because it was more economical than others I'd used. This has proven to be a mistake. A few days ago, I noticed my dogs scratching, so I checked them, and they both had fleas. I applied this product, waited 48 hours as recommended online, bathed them with flea shampoo, and they both still have fleas. I am very disappointed.Mother of 2

We have a house of pets including cats and a dog along with carpeted bedrooms. This means during the Spring and Summer we have to clean and vacuum daily and keep on top of flea prevention otherwise it is a nightmare! Anyone with pets and carpets understands. Since we live in the South very few flea products actually work for our animals and I’m not sure why, but it has to do with the fleas and immune to so many products. I gave PetAction Plus for Cats and PetAction Plus for Dogs a try and kept my fingers crossed. When this arrived one of my cats was starting to scratch – whether flea related or just an itch I’m not sure, but with it being that time of the year I wasn’t taking any chances and immediately put a dose on her as directed by the packaging (on the skin between the shoulder blades). So far since putting it on I have not seen her scratch once. I also made sure to apply a dose to the other cats who were due for their flea prevention and the dog as well. Again, no scratching. While it’s still early in the season to see just how well the product really works, so far I’m seeing promising results. The prevention is easy to apply and there is no odor. The animals didn’t seem to mind it either. If things keep going well I will definitely use this brand for our pets again in the future.ClosetSamples

I have tried numerous flea and tick treatments and still would see a flea here and there. Living in a place where the weather is warm year round fleas are really bad. I was feeling like I was not going to find something that worked and was affordable. Specially since I have 4 dogs and 1 cat. I would feel so bad because my one Yorkie is allergic to flea bites and some of the products the fleas could still bite them. I even wrote a few companies asking about their product. One in particular wrote telling me that their product killed fleas but didn’t repel them. While doing some research I came upon Petaction plus. I bought this 3 months ago from our local sams club for both our dogs. I don't know any other way to say this but it does not work. NO DON'T BUY! Look other places for flea and tick prevention this is a scam! We are completely infested with fleas. Its a never ending fight. We are going elsewhere for our prevention. Applied directly to the skin and followed all directions and it still failed to deliver. We are extremely disappointed as this was a good amount of money for what seems to be water and a promise. Unfortunately I bought this for 2 of our dogs who had ticks. It was a good deal, and cheaper than most other good things. Now I know that sometimes there's this one in a million chance that something really bad can happen, but you never think you will be that 1. Within 24 hours of applying these tick drops to one of our dogs(exactly as instructed) we woke up the next morning to find him dead. The other dog is still perfectly fine. I assume he had a reaction overnight unfortunately, and we didn't have the opportunity to do anything about it. Now I'm not blaming anyone, but I cannot recommend these drop for that reason. I also do not like the fact that these are different in the way you apply them compared to any other tick drops we have tried. This particular brand wants you to apply it down the entire length of the dog's back, instead of just behind the nape of the neck. I feel that this contributes to it not being as safe as others. The dog has more of a chance of ingesting it this way and I don't like that.incukahlan22

Much like Advantage, this product is not good if your cat already has fleas. I've used a few boxes as i have a few cats and made sure to split the hair and I still found fleas on my cats the next day and everyday after. You are better off using Revolution. This is the only topical product that i have seen work against current flea infestations.Gabriel Roger

Kept our dogs clear of any problem. Had a previous problem with fleas picked up at kennel years ago. Had to have the house fumigated after an old chap picked them up in kennels 20 yrs ago. He fell down the stairs on return so never had his bath on arrival at home. He died not long after & because no dog host was there we became host. It was a nightmare. Did all we could via Wilko & B&Q sprays & stuff but nothing worked until we got the council in. The cost was far less than we had paid on different remedies & worked but we had to wait weeks for the service. Totally ineffective! In desperation I spoke to my Vet who said that Frontline used to be good, I agree, but she said that I might have well put water on! The formula seems to have changed recently. I have used Frontline for years but in the last few months, when I have repeated the treatment, there was no effect. I tried Frontline twice and also Fiprotec. Again useless. So I got one tablet from my Vet which lasts 3 months and cost about the same as Frontline! Immediately effective! So I will never buy either of the above treatments again and stick to what works. I am very angry that this product is not suitable for purpose.i was at a vet with a sick dog where we picked up a massive infestation of fleas. I personally had 29 bites on one leg alone. All my pets, digs and cats had previously been treated with spot on and since.if thus product dud what it sats it will do, the fleas would not have bred and invaded my entire home.i heave used three large spray cans if house spray and sat each day with a flea comb, all whilst my pets have front line spot on in their coats.i have had to spray my entire home over and over, wash bed linen, dog blankets at 90c..it has made me ill as it's exhausting and stressful. Lesson, save your money, use a flea comb, cup hot soapy water and drown them.house sprays are95% effective! no idea about front line other than useless and extremely expensive. I have spent hundreds. Complained to frontline, all they did was give me pages of forms to fill in so they then get free survey when what I needed and still need, is help. My husband and I have tried so many of these flea products, it's ridiculous. The gels/whatever that you put on the back of their neck are SO hard to use and SO easy to mess up. You're only supposed to put them on skin, but the amount in the tubes is so much that it's impossible! We were religious with them for 3-4 months and nothing! Yes, the cats hate the sound the spray makes (all sprays sound like hisses), so you better have a second person to scruff your cat. I would also recommend cutting their nails the day before just in case. However, the stuff actually works! If you know anything about the flea life (and death) cycle, you'll still be seeing adult fleas on your pets until all the eggs have hatched from the environment. However! After just the first treatment, I picked adult fleas off all my cats and put one at a time in a Tupperware container. The fleas don't have coordinated movement and just sit there and twitch, which means they will soon be dead! And then they die! I even got one flea that seemed just fine, but after a day it was twitching and shortly died. This is the best stuff ever and is nearly idiot proof! Combine this stuff with an environmental spray that inhibits eggs (such as Adam's flea and tick carpet and home spray [which is also AMAZING]) and you have yourself a solid flea control program!Jfarrismu

Again, I used to work for many years at Veterinary Clinics. This topical is ideal for litters, and much less expensive than the individual vials of Frontline. This had been my top choice for many, many years. I also learned that orphanages in Europe used this product on children to deter head lice. Frontline doesn't get into the bloodstream; it is fat-soluble and I always felt it was a safe choice. HOWEVER, after many generations of fleas, they had become immune to it. That's when I switched to Advantage.val.c

Seller would not take back unused product nor refund any part of the money I spent for a product which did not work after three applications (might have killed 20% of the adult fleas each time). Mfr says it takes 3 months to kill fleas and product (coincidentally) lasts three months; so I would be spending nearly $25/month and then I have to start the process all over again by spending another $70 dollars?? Fleas and ticks are now immune to Frontline Plus, and so they've come out with a new, more expensive Frontline, which the fleas and ticks have not yet built up an immunity to. I love my dog, and my dog doesn't love fleas and ticks, so I've purchased the GOLD. I'll leave another review in a couple of months to let you all know how it's working.Cara P

This year my baby spent a week away, and he came back with bite marks and constantly itching. After a cutdown and a bath with pet meds shampoo and conditioner; I Called 1800-Petmeds. They overnight Frontline Gold at a very cheap price in comparison to other big name companies. Within 30minutes my baby stopped itching. I'm sorry to say this. Please save your money and purchase the regular FrontLine. I did not find this formula to be any more effective or easier to use than the normal formula and if it is not opened correctly, it will spill and be wasted. I needed to use this product for some time to appreciate its abilities. My dog likes to spend time outside rolling around and doing dog things. This leads to her coming into the house, tracking dirt and the pesky fleas. We've done well to mitigate it in the past, but PetArmor helped in the process. Within a few days, we noticed that she would not be scratchy when coming back into the house, then we didn't have to treat her bedding as much. Very nice! In the past, I have given my dog oral medication to prevent flea and ticks. It worked well but I was never comfortable with the fact that he had to ingest the medicine. I decided we’d use a topical solution for this summer and this is working great so far. The application was easy and the the applicator worked well. I’ve had to apply a different brand on foster puppies in the past and sometimes, the liquid would just all flow right out during the first contact, leaving no medicine for the rest of the dog’s back. It wasn’t the case with PetArmor. I had good control to dispense the product with their applicator. My dog had no discomfort whatsoever on the application sites. The product didn’t leave his coat all oily or smelly. I love that you can scan a QR code in the box and the brand will send a text 30 days later as a reminder for when the next dose is due. Ive tried expensive stuff, Ive tried dirt cheap stuff. This works and works FAST. I actually have to put my dogs out if they have fleas on them at all. Weve had issues with super fleas here in northeast USA where the only thing Ive found to work is old fashion dawn dish soap and salt.Ive literally spread salt on all my floors so it looks like snow and left it sit over night then vacuum it up and then mop with dawn dish soap, everyday for over a week straight. I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. My Cocker Spaniel has been given this product regularly and protects him and his ears from infestation of fleas, ticks etc. which can be picked up when walking in the countryside as well as socialising with other dogs. Excellent product.Janet L

Love this brand of flea and tick repellent. It works well for thirty days to keep fleas from living and eating on my dogs plus it keeps mosquitoes away. It works fast; however if you have never used this product on your dog watch for strange behaviors and give your dog a bath immediately if they begin to have a reaction. Dogs do have allergies and like humans your dog could have a negative reaction and if so contact your vet. It is the choice of tick repellent I trust with all of my four legged family members. This product doesn't do as well with keeping ticks off my dogs, I normally buy a separate tick repellent when I purchase this product.trish.m

I’ve used just about every frontline product there is. They are ok but don’t work well for large infestations or really at all in the south/southwest. Fleas develop immunities and that’s the case here. It works for a day or two on the weak ones, but we have monster fleas in Texas. Tribal is slightly better but not great.sally.s

Since Frontline Plus no longer worked on my Standard Poodle, I thought that the new hopefully improved version might. But no, Frontline Gold was much like putting water on his coat. There was not one dead flea on him after three days. Not sure why although it was very difficult to place it on him correctly – they state a flat line on his skin all the way from neck to tail – for starters there is not enough liquid to do that and a Standard Poodle is a long dog! So, not sure if that was the problem but this year in North Central WV the temps and humidity are perfect for a bumper crop of fleas and it is a seemingly non ending problem. I needed to use this product for some time to appreciate its abilities. My dog likes to spend time outside rolling around and doing dog things. This leads to her coming into the house, tracking dirt and the pesky fleas. We've done well to mitigate it in the past, but PetArmor helped in the process. Within a few days, we noticed that she would not be scratchy when coming back into the house, then we didn't have to treat her bedding as much. Very nice! This went on for a few weeks, and eventually, there were no signs of fleas or scratching! It's been a great summer, and we look forward to a flea-free fall. In the past, I have given my dog oral medication to prevent flea and ticks. It worked well but I was never comfortable with the fact that he had to ingest the medicine. I decided we’d use a topical solution for this summer and this is working great so far. The application was easy and the the applicator worked well. I’ve had to apply a different brand on foster puppies in the past and sometimes, the liquid would just all flow right out during the first contact, leaving no medicine for the rest of the dog’s back. It wasn’t the case with PetArmor. I had good control to dispense the product with their applicator. My dog had no discomfort whatsoever on the application sites. The product didn’t leave his coat all oily or smelly. I love that you can scan a QR code in the box and the brand will send a text 30 days later as a reminder for when the next dose is due. Their formula contains Fipronil and (S)-methoprene like most expensive well-known brands but at a more affordable cost. So far, I’m very happy with this and I look forward to a tick free summer!LinPMaine

Finally something that works consistently. After trying probably 10-15 brands of flea and tick stuff for my Dogs this is the company I come back to. Ive tried expensive stuff, Ive tried dirt cheap stuff. This works and works FAST. I actually have to put my dogs out if they have fleas on them at all. Within 30 minutes they are jumping off to get away and die.
