The Red/Yellow ball is animal sound based – the Blue ball is human voice based – at time of writing a recordable Babble is not available (Dec '17). Medium size is good for a 20kg 45lb collie* – the large is possible for them* but it slows/curtails the fun somewhat. Given as a gift to a curious & active dog I would expect happy mayhem as a result – once assured that the toy is SAFE and THEIRS you should be good to sit back and let them play. Caution – under certain circumstances obsessive behaviour may develop, so sharing may take time/care and chewing has to be watched for but because the product is strong you won't have to panic. My dogs love it and don't like to share it but I had a two problems with it. It worked one day then would only "talk" for a second and then stop, I read someone else comment about taking out a battery. I didn't understand that until i opened it up and saw that it had 3 batteries. I did what they did and took out 1 of the 3, now it works great without glitching. The other problem I had with it was that the size i bought for my small dogs have ridges on it and my dogs love to chew on those ridges. they open their mouths wide and check one ridge with their top teeth and another ridge with their bottom teeth and clamp down, which ends up marring all the ridges in between. I'm scared they will break or chip their teeth. I finally took a thick sock and doubled back the sock so it was 2x as thick and put the ball in there. they still try to chew but it's harder to get the ridges and it's also easier for them to pick it up. Bought Two of these – One for each grand dog home. Shipped to family member where we have Xmas and “Pup Pup”, the resident parcel inspector and delivery announcer went bonkers when the ball was removed from the shipping box. I would recommend this toy for a smaller dog or one who is not a powerful chewer. I know this is not intended to be a chew toy, but realistically, if you have a medium or large dog, they usually have a tendency to chew any toy you put in front of them. I have an English Pointer mix who normally destroys any toy I give him unless I get it from BullyMake or BarkBox. Unfortunately, neither offer a toy that compares to this one in terms of entertainment for your dog. He absolutely loved this toy so it is a shame that he was able to bite chucks out of it within 20 minutes. I can't find the pieces that he took out of it so I'm waiting to see if he passes them. If not, it will be a visit to the vet. He was so sad when I took it away from him and looked at me with those sad brown eyes. I would love to have one of stronger material that he could play with and not have to worry. I think this is truly a wonderful device that offers great fun for both my dogs and cats. Not only is it seemingly durable, but it is also standing up to the rigors of being chewed, dropped down the stairs, tossed in the yard and so forth. I bought this to replace a medium version that had been completely trashed. Unfortunately this hasn’t been as robust as I had hoped. My Plott Hound is big, hyperactive and obsessive. Several years ago a friend gave him one of these balls and he has been totally focused on it ever since. This past winter he smacked it into the house (brick) when it was 20 degrees outside and the ball cracked. He eventually was able to start taking it apart. That ball was at least 15 years old and possibly older and had been handed down through several dogs. This ball is made the same way except for the plug- which the old one had – and since the day he got it he hasn't stopped. I actually got the 8" one I believe. I had an old one that was 14" and it was great. I wanted a smaller one for my puppy, but it is very light weight and does not dribble well. I bought this toy for my little french bull dogs first birthday. Seeing it capabilities online I was immediately impressed and intrigued with self play and the balls ability to get out from under areas the dog might have trouble with since my girlfriend is in her studies from home and her work is constantly interrupted from our dog whining about a ball trapped under somewhere. This ball was amazing at first. First day I used it my frenchie was obsessed however 10 mins in, I notice a piece was already broken off. Customer support was super nice and sent me a new shell with no problem, however when it arrived and I went to use it again, the shell wouldn’t close fully so it wouldn’t work. Like it was always lose fitting and after 10 seconds of playing, the shell was fully open. I got the shell to my apartment at school so by the time I was able to give it to my dog was about a month after I had received it so I never put in another request for a new one as I had no way to prove that it didn’t work since day 1. I bought this toy for my little french bull dogs first birthday. Seeing it capabilities online I was immediately impressed and intrigued with self play and the balls ability to get out from under areas the dog might have trouble with since my girlfriend is in her studies from home and her work is constantly interrupted from our dog whining about a ball trapped under somewhere. This product seemed to be perfect. I ordered it. Within a week I see cheerble is now advertising a new version of the ball, felt like I missed out on a new improved design but was eager to see what the wicked ball W1 still had to offer. The ball showed up two weeks after and both my pet and I were excited. I got it out of the packaging read the manual and gave it to my French bull dog eager to play. She immediately took to it and could tell she was obsessed. This seemed all too good to be true. And it was…. In less than ten minutes our Frenchie had managed to get the clear plastic ring from the centre apart from the shell and dismantle the shell….maybe I should have got a replacement one but don't believe I should have to pay $10 to give my dog 10minutes of play… That is not sustainable living… Not for us anyways… Perhaps the new design is more durable but after spending $60+ for a ball after tax and shipping that couldn't withstand a 25lb pup I'm not to eager to dish it out again…. Afterall $120 would get me alot of balls that would last longerSean H.

Customer support was super nice and sent me a new shell with no problem, however when it arrived and I went to use it again, the shell wouldn’t close fully so it wouldn’t work. Like it was always lose fitting and after 10 seconds of playing, the shell was fully open. I got the shell to my apartment at school so by the time I was able to give it to my dog was about a month after I had received it so I never put in another request for a new one as I had no way to prove that it didn’t work since day 1. I’m hoping I was just unlucky as this was an amazing idea for a product that I loved when it did work, I’m just sad I spent so so much money for it to not work on me twice. My German Shepherds will destroy things if I give them a chance. They ALL ( I have 3) love these balls! The rope could be bigger or come with bigger knots,,,, I add a knot to keep the rope from coming out. But the balls are great fun! My dogs favorite toys. That being said, These are toys that need to be used with humans. If you just leave the dog to his own devices he will chew it apart. Simple solution is to play with your dog. When not in use you should put it up. But the fun is well worth the money and they will last if you are a responsible pet owner.DAWN

Our dog loves to retrieve, and this ball is perfect for that. The ball floats so it is also great for water play. The minty smell is great, although it wears off fairly quickly. The ""large"" size is perfect for our 85 lb. retriever. We have been purchasing this ball for 3 years (we are on ball number 5 now), but the problem is that the company has changed the design of the ball. With the last two balls we've purchased, our dog has been able to quickly pull off all of the ""continents."" What is left is a solid colored ball, which is fine. However, I wish the design hadn't changed because the pieces he pulls off become a choking hazard. I wish the company would either go back to the original design (which lasted much longer) or come up with a safer solution. Unfortunately, this will be the LAST time we purchase this particular ball. It is too bad since I do love all of the other features, especially the nontoxic material and the size of the ball.

The ball is certainly great for standard use if your dog is just about playing fetch or chasing the ball around. But if your dog is a strong chewer, these tennis balls are not durable. I have a two year old Siberian Husky who loves to chew on things, including her tennis balls after she gets tired of chasing them around. She’s torn several of these Petco tennis balls into pieces in a matter of minutes, versus a gently used regular tennis ball that we found in the yard that took her well over a month to even pierce and split in half. The only reason I keep giving her the Petco tennis balls is because I bought several at once and want to use them up before I buy regular tennis balls. On the plus side, my husky continues to play with the torn up ball even after it’s already been obliterated so she gets at least a solid day out of it. I purchased this ball last week. It was the perfect size to teach my dogs to play fetch. My dachshund, Max, is ahead of the class since he is the only one that actually goes to fetch the ball. Bought Two of these – One for each grand dog home. Shipped to family member where we have Xmas and “Pup Pup”, the resident parcel inspector and delivery announcer went bonkers when the ball was removed from the shipping box. The ball is very rigid plastic which prevents total instant destruction by the doxie tag team that makes short work of any toy in reach. I would recommend this toy for a smaller dog or one who is not a powerful chewer. I know this is not intended to be a chew toy, but realistically, if you have a medium or large dog, they usually have a tendency to chew any toy you put in front of them. I have an English Pointer mix who normally destroys any toy I give him unless I get it from BullyMake or BarkBox. Unfortunately, neither offer a toy that compares to this one in terms of entertainment for your dog. He absolutely loved this toy so it is a shame that he was able to bite chucks out of it within 20 minutes. I can't find the pieces that he took out of it so I'm waiting to see if he passes them. If not, it will be a visit to the vet. He was so sad when I took it away from him and looked at me with those sad brown eyes. I would love to have one of stronger material that he could play with and not have to worry. The concept for this toy is spot on and I would give it a positive review for a smaller dog or a breed that is not a strong chewer.pompano01-us
My dog absolutely LOVES this ball. We got her one when she was just a puppy and it’s been her favorite toy since. She’s had it about 6 months and has destroyed it. I don’t mind buying one every six months because I get my money’s worth. Last night I went to buy her a new one, thinking she will have it another 6 months. WRONG. This is one of the few products that last more then 6 months with my dog. I have a 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd and she loves to chew on her toys. Most of them break within a few hours or if lucky may last a few days. I have given her antlers and nylabones which she loves and they last for awhile, but this ball is actually one of the few toys she can chew on that is soft and pliable. I am very satisfied with the quality of this ball. We have had other Planet Dog Orbee Tuff balls in different color and they were great also, but this one is nice because it glows in the dark so we can still play fetch even when it is getting dark outside. My dog loves this lil annoying ball. I don’t know what possessed me to buy it. It’s so annoying, but he loves it. He won’t put it down and won’t let you touch it. However, it dies really quickly. He got a good week and a half out of it and then it died and then you have to go searching for the special battery or Amazon has them. Its a little loud when rolling if you have hardwood floors like I do and my dog likes nothing better than to roll it around. I thought this was hilarious! It completely confused my my biggest dog (a pit bull boxer mix) and then it was just a challenge. This toy is good for inducing "mini heart attacks." Our dogs were not fans of this ball. It scared our Chiweenie, and our 2 pitties lost interest after about 3-5 minutes. After that it was left on the livingroom floor where it would sometimes just get moved slightly and start making noise. This is my 3rd Kong ball. My dog Loves the Medium/Large size. Unfortunately, the way they have the sizing, they have medium/large and large/extra large. The lg/extra lg is a bit too big for my 35 lb dog and I ordered it by accident seeing only the word “large.” Once Petco accepts returns in store again, I will be taking it back. I’ve purchased the med/lg size now as well as purchasing one for a friend. Took away one star for that confusing sizing. I bought this to replace a medium version that had been completely trashed. Unfortunately this hasn’t been as robust as I had hoped. The squeak broke almost immediately, followed by the disc where it is located. I only allow ‘supervised’ use, but it was done and dusted within about half an hour’s playtime (2 x 15 minute sessions). She hasn’t managed to remove the tennis ball yet, so we are still enjoying it and I do believe there is a limit to what I can expect given my dog’s size/breed. She absolutely loves it, so I am happy!Caroline M
Just unboxed this and for Maverick 2yr old whippet, it was love at first squeak. Hasn't made it outside yet and he has worn him self out (yippee). He loves it, but hes now sleeping to recover😆 Would definitely recommend, but only comment would be that I won't be leaving it with him outside, as I think with some intense unsupervised chewing it might have a short life.
