I read all of the reviews so I decided to give it a try for my 10 year old Pitt Bull. He wasn’t his spunky self for 2 months. He was slow getting up even for his treats. Bought this yesterday for my 6 year old maltipoo because he has back pain from time to time due to ivdd. Vet wasn’t in and the hospital was booked. Emergency room costs a fortune. So with no prescription, I decided to give this a try. My lil fur baby was in so much pain, he was trembling and wouldn’t eat (understandably so). I gave him a 1/2 one in the car and about an hour later gave him another half cause he still seemed to be in pain…next thing i knew he was eating like crazy lol!!!! Our 6 year old Aldo was a rescue from the floods in the Mississippi area and was sent down here in SoFL with so many other rescues. We have tried several different anti inflammatory medications for our 13 year old Aussie with arthritis issues. He has now been on Metacam for a couple of months and it seems to be working the best with no adverse side effects. It is easy to dispense once a day on his food. The only problem currently seems to be a general shortage in the supply of the medication. My 17 year old snowshoe Siemese has some painful decline. The only thing is to keep him comfortable with an anti-inflammatory. We had the labs done, spoke with our vet and we give him the .5 in the morning dose and the 1.5 at night. The Metacam smells like honeysuckle and my Dusty comes up and will put his face up to me, he wants his meds. He is comfortable and eating better than before the Metacam. The 2 different doses don't leave him dopey but he is alert during the day and by early morning he is ready to eat his morning meal. We do our best to keep his metcam around the same time and every now and again he will need another .5 in afternoon if he has upset stomach and he will come to me for another light dose. His points have darkened and his weight is a little above 7#'s. He has always been a smaller cat especially compared to his brother whom we lost going on 3 years. I have 6 small breed rescued dogs that are all seniors. I've been using this for all, except one dog for many years. One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and can't use this supplement (I believe it's a beef and/or liver sensitivity), but the other dogs have no problem at all. They like the taste and most importantly it really helps! All of my dogs being seniors, 9yrs up to 18yrs (yep, 18 yrs old) have joint issues from age and this really seems to help with joint pain and even joint popping/cracking. They seem to be able to play more on this supplement too! If I ever run out, I noticed their joints popping more often and after only a couple days of using this product I notice a big difference. I haven't used this for larger breeds or younger adult dogs, but I imagine it would be great for them too, especially with all the joint issues that come with larger breeds. FYI, ALL the supplement sizes are the same product but with different sized scoops and dosage instructions based on the scoop size. I believe all the jars except the smallest size come with a larger scoop (supposedly 1oz, but seems to be more IMO) and the dosage instructions are based on the included scoop. So, if you're like me and buy a large sized jar for multiple smaller dogs, make sure to check the dosage instructions on the small size jar accurate instructions. This is very expensive for lifetime use, but absolutely worth every penny. My pitbull baby girl Latte is only 4 &1/2 years old and has moderate hip dysplasia. Glyde plus Gabapentin has given her, her life back! Yes it says no refunds, I got it. Ordered a refurbished double brace, and harness to see how it would help. Followed the measuring guidelines on there website for the brace, and there recommendation to order the same size harness. All from there website! Once received, the harness was way to small and the braces and support strap were way to large, weird followed there website directions. After contacting customer service I was told NO REFUNDS! However, when asking about the sizing discrepancy, no reply, except no refund. When asked about it again and explaining there size chart does not work with my very large chested and small hipped boxer, I was once again told no returns or refunds, it's clearly stated! Once again I got that part. In short, I cannot review the product because the size that there site recommends doesn't fit so I am unable to use it. Very good. Bought it because my dog fell down a flight of stairs in his excitement and was limping for a few days. After I gave this HA to him, he could walk as per normal and jump around after two days. Don't know if it was his natural recovery or the effects of the HA. But I have read alot about HA and trust that it does help the joints and can be absorbed into the body. However, I must say that it is an expensive purchase. So I have a beabull, mostly English bulldog. He’s a 7/8 mix. Out of nowhere his cute little black nose started getting crusty and cracked. I waited a while and it didn’t let up. A friend said there was nothing you could do but I found this online. I didn’t think it would work but we are on day four and his nose is DRASTICALLY improved. He hates when I put it on (he does that with everything ever though) so I have to put some peanut butter on a spoon and have him lick it after I apply it to his nose or he’ll just lick it right off his nose. I bought this for my dog’s (14 year old Shar Pei) keratin buildup on his nose and paws. It dissolved the stuff great and I was able to wipe off the stuff on his paws after one application. That was really impressive. My dog has fairly mild Hyperkeratosis but his nose gets a fairly thick layer of buildup, and this product allows you to remove it fairly easily after a few applications over a couple days and a cooperative pooch. I was really impressed with how well it worked. I use it now preventatively which prevents bad buildup on his nose and paws, so all in all I’m certainly a big fan. I recommend at least the 2oz can if you think you’ll use it on the paws. The 2 oz can generally lasts me a couple months even with multiple applications per day. I have been using Dasuquin MSM in the hard pill form for over a year now for my almost 15 year old, 88 pound Airedale – Standard Poodle mix. I have been very impressed with the improved mobility my dog has/is experienced/ing. I decided to try the soft chew, but was a bit nervous given another reviewers comment that they were too large and his dog would not touch them. I called and spoke to 1-800-PETMEDS and the person I talked to told me that I could return the product for a full refund if my dog doesn't like them. So I decided to try. He loves them! I have been giving Nutramax Dauquin Soft Chews for Small Dogs to my 11 year old Maltese dog, Molly, for over 2 years. It has absolutely changed her life. I've bought these a few times for my little doggie! He is a 7-year old Chi mix that weighs about 24 pounds. We give him one a day as a treat. I purchased because he has torn his doggie ACL in the past. We did not get the surgery for this, as a small dog it healed on its own, but as the vet said, he will have some arthritis-like mobility issues from that leg moving forward. It had proven some, very moderate effect on my doggy's joint issues. I cannot recommend it for that reason, but it doesn't make it a bad product. In fact, he found it tasty enough not to spit, which is impossible with Strand syrup he was prescribed, and it didn't affect his stool–again unlike Strand. What really helped him was a gelatinous-rich diet, if you wonder, but the smell is horrendous and it definitely made him fart like crazy. So, considering this, I think, it doesn't hurt to try these soft chews and see if it does your pet any good before looking for something else. Sadie is getting older and started having bladder problems while she was sleeping. Our veterinarian prescribed Proin to help with the problem. We started with one 50mg pill twice a day at meal time and while it fixed the bladder problem it changed her attitude making her anxious. So the veterinarian said go to half a pill, twice a day. We did but continued to have the same side effects. So we went to 1/4 of a pill twice a day at meal time and are having good success. Her good attitude is back and her bladder problems seem fixed. No more wet spots on the floor and no more wet tail. The veterinarian says we may need to increase the dosage later as she gets older but the problem is fixed for now. Our Great Dane has had incontinence for a few years, and from the experience we had with Proin previously for our past dogs, we knew it would work for her as well. However, setting the proper amount for her size and finding a maintainable dosage took a little time and experimentation. My Lurcher Heidi had to have a mammary tumour removed. She was terrified wearing an Elizabethan collar. So I got her a Buster collar but being long nosed Sighthound and with a flexable neck she could reach her stitches. The "Suitical" vest I got her from D forDog was absoulutley amazing. For toileting I just un-did the press studs and took her back legs out of the garment and rolled the Suitical back to her shoulders. Keep this on hand for trimming our guinea pig's nails. His front nails are clear/white, so it's pretty easy to see the quick, but his back nails are dark and once we (my GF, I hold him) got his quick. Luckily we had this stuff on hand, and it stopped bleeding basically as soon as we dipped his nail in it. I give 2 chews every day to my 10 year old girl after her walk as a "treat". She loves them, but more importantly, I've noticed a difference in how she climbs stairs. She had been crying at the bottom of the cellar stairs lately, frightened to make the climb. I'd watch her put one foot on the bottom step and then back away. We had to coax her to come up and she eventually would, but it was a struggle. She may have been sore due to age and afraid to put pressure on her legs. Since she has been on the Vet Strength Mobility Bites, she must be feeling better, because she is her old self walking up the stairs and has pep in her step.
I have been giving my dog (a 12-year old golden retriever) the Zesty Paws Dog Vet Strength Mobility every day for at least several weeks now. With the dog being of advanced age — especially so for a large-breed dog — I understand that it's important to be realistic when it comes to evaluating the improvement in mobility he might derive from the supplement. I honestly think that this is the type of supplement that needs to be given to a dog for at least several months before its effects can be assessed; however, over the past week or so, my dog appears to have started having an easier time with getting up from a sitting or laying position, and he also seems to be more puppy-like in his behavior, such as when he runs around the yard or chases after tennis balls. I will continue to give him the supplement each day in the hope that his strength and mobility will continue to improve.
