I'm ecstatic about my purchase of Nature's Miracle Lavender Skunk Odor removal shampoo for animals. This stuff works if you leave it on your pet for a minimum of 5-7 minutes and then rinse it off. The animal must be saturated in this shampoo as skunk spray is an oil that penetrates into your animal's body and fur. I found it especially difficult to get the shampoo lathered up between the ear and eye area as I didn't want to get the soap in the eyes when rinsing off. My 3 dogs got sprayed. I used this once and the smell was gone. This shampoo smells good but it does not lather well. I used almost a full bottle on my dogs. Two have short hair, but my shepherd mix has a lot of fur. I left it on for several minutes as I rubbed it in their fur It rinsed off well. I received the 32 ounce bottle of "De-Skunk Odor Destroying Shampoo" and have used it on my dog once already. This shampoo has a very cinnamon/black licorice smell to it. It is a VERY strong smell which my dog did not like at all, she actually kept sneezing when I was bathing her and she has never done that with other shampoos before. This shampoo is not very runny which I liked because a lot of dog washes are and you tend to use way too much and waste it. This shampoo also lathered up very nicely with little effort. I liked how I was able to really massage this into my dog's coat. This shampoo left my dog's coat nice and shiny afterwards too. Instructions say to allow this shampoo to sit on your pet for 3-5 minutes before rinsing it off. I really liked the fact that this shampoo does not remove the topical flea and tick treatments that are used on the back of the dog's neck. This is a great shampoo for any dog owner to have on hand. This is absolutely the best skunk shampoo ever! Although Nature's Miracle skunk shampoo works just as well, Skunk Off has a wonderful fragrance to it. It's not overpowering-just, well, fresh and clean and great. I usually just have to use it one time, and the skunk smell is virtually gone. If my dog had been hit close, I will bathe him with it twice. Just as with the Nature's Miracle stuff, DON'T rub it in like you usually do with shampoo, just smooth it on, and then wait five minutes, and wash off with warm water. I ordered this for our little Yorkie who got sprayed face on, in her mouth and down the front of her (none in her eyes thank goodness). We used this shampoo as directed and when she was dry there was a pleasant odour of coconut. As soon as she got wet in the rain the first time after being bathed there was the horrible smell of skunk mixed with the smell of coconut . So after she is bathed in this and dried she is ok until she gets wet again and then there is skunk. I didn't know what to think from reading the other reviews. Some swear it worked, others say it was useless. Here's my experience. When my Bernedoodle first got sprayed, I used the hydrogen peroxide formula you read about all over the Internet. Although, it got all the yellow stain off his coat, the smell was still horrendous. I waited a week thinking it would dissipate over time but there was no improvement whatsoever. Accordingly, I set out to purchase a commercial product and settled on Nature’s Miracle. Initially, I didn’t think it had worked at all – I was in the camp of the 1 star reviews. But then I noticed a small improvement the following day, maybe 10-20%. You might think it was just time not the product, but trust me, after living with the smell for over a week I could tell there was an improvement not related solely to the passage of time. I called the Nature’s Miracle support line to ask how often I could reapply it without harming my dog’s coat. The agent advised repeat applications were fine as long as I waited a few days in between. More importantly, she advised that I should not rinse him off before using it, like you normally do before applying shampoo. That was my mistake with the first application. I had assumed he had to be rinsed first in order for the product to lather up. In any event, after a second “dry-coat” application Nature’s Miracle got rid of at least 90% of the smell…hallelujah! So, follow the instructions, apply it dry and repeat if necessary…it will work. My only advice to the company is to add “Do not rinse first” to the instructions. It just seems natural to rinse before shampooing your dog, washing your car or whatever so adding that little tidbit of information should help customers like me to apply it properly the first time.Hombre
This was an ok cleaner for pet related messes. I bought the one that has enzymes that is suppose to help neutralize the smell. I have a small chihuahua and even though she’s trained to go to the bathroom outside or on a pee pad, she still sometimes loves to go on any carpets/mats we have lying around our house. This spray helped with cleaning that up but I honestly didn’t really notice it helping to eliminate or neutralize the urine smell. It got most of the stain out but to get rid of the smell or to prevent her from going back to that same spot, I still have to take the carpet and wash it in my washing machine. It’s handy to have if she eats something bad and throws up on the tile or hardwood floor but in terms of neutralizing smell, not so much. Would I buy it again? Maybe. This is the second time in 3 weeks our black lab has been sprayed by a skunk. People had referred us to this the first time after the fact. This time we did the home remedy of 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and a teaspoon of dawn. We did that twice, then use a full bottle of Nature’s Miracle Skunk Odor Remover. Instead of using dog shampoo like the product recommends after sitting in the dogs for 5 minutes, we really worked in baking soda into the fir before we washed off this product. The product works well. Unfortunately I have to keep it around because I have 2 large dogs that get into fights. The spray does most of the breaking up of the fight but it takes the whole can. If the can is not completely full as I've come to learn it isn't enough to help me break up the fight. I wish the can held a few more ounces. The product is expensive but each time I need to re-stock I research to find the best price and Valley Vet always seems to have the lowest even factoring in the shipping fee. I have a big German shepherd/malamute mix, a very sweet dog but with problems around other large breeds. We adopted him 1 1/2 years ago and didn't know his temperament entirely, but noticed his aggression. I've been through at year of training with him, but still there's an occasional problem. SpraySheild has effectively diverted the dogs' attention to allow me and other owners/handlers to intervene safely to prevent a real dog fight. This stuff works okay but not as well as resolve. I also really hate the smell. Yeah the smell of urine is bad, but this smells like something you use to clean urine up with. It has an overpowering lemon gas station bathroom smell that I can’t stand. I bought it because there was $1 coupon on the bottle but I’ll never buy this again, I’ll pay more for resolve. I also found that you had to use like 4x as much. Not a good value. Also, the bottle says it’s 5% peroxide as the active ingredient and I feel ripped off honestly. Like the product but the squirt bottle broke after the 1st use. Top, spray nozzle, detached from the bottle. Tonight, the spray nozzle broke completely from the base. Now, in order to continue to use the remaining Woolite free & clear, i have to buy a squirt bottle. As I said, I like the results that the Woolite free & clear provide, however, the packaging was a disappointment. P.S. I have a Bissel vacuum cleaner and I love it. This is a great carpet cleaner for removing pet stains. My cat had a sensitive stomach and seemed to always choose the carpet to get sick. Woolite to the rescue! If you spray the area right after the event it cleans so well you can't tell anything happened. The nicest part is that even older stains will come out with a little work. We use "Natures Miracle" products regularly, but this particular product was a total failure for us. We first treated our dog with peroxide and backing soda, and that took most of the smell out. The next morning we purchased this product in an attempt to removed the remaining smell. We followed directions, and used it twice, but the remaining smell was unaffected. We finally gave up and brought fido to the groomers. The groomer used peroxide and backing soda, and got the remaining smell out. Sorry, but it didn't work for us.mfleck

Wow….I've had 3 dogs in my life, 2 that passed away about 7 years ago, and 1 hellion and beautiful lover lab who came into our lives six years ago. From the moment she came home she was extremely mischievous LOL but when she was 1 she encountered a friend outside who didn't want to be her friend… She thought it was a cat but it was a skunk!!!! I thought we were safe with a fenced-in backyard but that did not matter. I now know if it's not raining or wet outside and your dog comes in and is wet that you should not let her run inside run all over the place and jump up and down on the bed because that means she was probably sprayed by a skunk LOL. We immediately took her to the bathtub to try to clean her eyes out and figure out a way to get the smell off. She's a yellow lab and of course the first thing the internet told us to try was tomato juice tomato sauce tomato anything! So we tried it all and, God we love our dog so much and feel so terrible, but it did not help with the scent or anything but it made her coat PINK!!!!! Since it was 3am all we could do was wash her face as many times as possible to try to get the smell off until the morning. Then we were able to go to the store and found this product that had great reviews. I didn't think it was going to work and it was hard again because it was on her face and around her eyes, but after using it a few times we were able to diminish the smell, and I think the lavender scent helped a little bit as well. This was the only product that was able to get that oil off of her from the skunk and the smell completely gone. We learned a huge lesson and keep a bottle of this in our home at all times from now on. Even though our dog is beautiful and 6 years old, she's still mischievous and a puppy at heart but that's what we love about her. I think she learned her lesson about black cats with white stripes LOL she hasn't tried to befriend them since. Thank you
