He loves it. It's his outdoor toy. He would go all day if we let him. We've had it for about 3 years now and it's pretty sun faded and has plenty of teeth marks in it. Also started developing a crack on the one hole, but otherwise its been incredibly durable. My partner can kick it hard across the yard in steel toes and it hasn't broken yet (that's probably what the crack is from). It has caused his gums to bleed a handful of times so maybe beware of that just because of the hard plastic if your pup is a tough chewer/biter, but otherwise my dog would literally kill for this toy. I bought this as a way to save money on treats given to my dog when I leave for work. Using the tricky treat ball I can extend the time she can play after I leave and distract her from her separation anxiety. I pack with her regular food and then seal the hole with peanut butter. I have been using Chuck-it! frisbees for years with my dog. When Chuck-it! discontinued the large triangular Heliflight I wasn't sure what I was going to do because my dog LOVED his – we had been through 3 of them. The Flying Squirrel is no different in quality and comfort for my dogs mouth. Colors are great and it feels pretty durable given it is for fetching and not for chewing (it wouldn't survive a good chew). The biggest issue and as other reviews have mentioned, throwing this thing is SO DIFFICULT at first. I looked like a dizzy 5 year old trying to get it to go straight and not crash to the ground. *** The key is to GET IT WET!!! I took it to the lake and that changed everything. 1) it floats 2) the extra water weight makes throwing it a breeze 3) my dog couldn't get enough. I would 100% suggest this product for anyone planning on using it in the water. Using it on dry land takes some time and the learning curve is pretty painful, but it is still a solid choice for a lightweight fetching toy.N.
This is a great flying toy and my dog LOVES to play fetch with it. We play with it almost daily and he gets great exercise. However, I have to buy a new one every 3-4 weeks because this toy is not durable. It falls apart really quickly. It makes me want to re-design it myself. I suggest the following improvements: 1) Make the stitching MUCH stronger. 2) Improve the corners/tips and stiffeners so they don't come apart so quickly. 3) Use color-fast fabric. ETC. We just adopted a 1 1/2 year old precious All-American Mutt from the ASPCA. Heidi is the size of a small beagle but her coat and markings are amazing. I'd send you a picture but I do not know how to transfer a picture from my iPhone to my PC. Heidi has the strength of a little bulldog and the constant kisses of a new-born puppy. She carries her HOL-EE GIGGLER everywhere she goes, even to bed. It is so easy for her to pick up and carry, it's not too heavy for her either, and you just never ever know when "WHARMMY!!" It makes the craziest sounds and at times it can startle me but they are not creepy sounds; they make you stop what you are doing, and start laughing. It is her favorite toy, move over "Lammy", you just got replaced. Run, oh my, you should see her run the full backyard and it's almost 1/3 of an acre. She will run and jump over things, then just stop, lie down in the grass, catch her breath, and start all over again. Needless to say, she is exhausted afterwards. She will rest, eat her supper and then she's off to sleep for almost the whole evening. HOL-EE GIGLER IS A FABULOUS TOY. We will be buying more for her and our friends. I know that dogs see only 2 real colors and the rest is rather a tannish grey, but I hope you start making them in colors for us mommies and daddies like bright yellow or neon green. I bought this for my new rescue dog as she is very timid. When we first had gotten her, we took her to the vet and had xrays taken of her stomach as she had hard green plastic in her pooh. The xrays also showed she had two very pointy screws in her stomach, so then I realized she likes to chew. The first night with the Huggie Pup was great; however, I noticed in the morning she had opened the back Velcro strip where the heart-beat box was located. The second night, I heard the Velcro being opened again, and knowing she's a chewer, I got up and removed the heart-box. I got up the next morning and looked at the Huggie Pup, the pocket was wide open and pulled out. If I had not take the heart-box out the night before she would have chewed the box to pieces (which has 3-screws) and eaten the batteries! My pibbie destroys any toy you give her in 10 mins tops, and i mean ANY toy. From stuffed animals to xtreme kong balls, there wasn't a toy that would last. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. I have a beagle who has a similar toy she just loves to play with, so I got this one because it looked a little different. This toy is quite small-the little “house” is only about 6 inches high and about 11 1/2 inches around. The top of the “house” is not open and does not come off, so the little squirrels must be put back inside through the side openings. The little squirrels are about 3 inches high and a little less than 6 inches around at their widest part. I don’t know if this toy will is available in different sizes or not, but I would not give this toy to any dog larger than my beagle as I’m afraid a larger dog may swallow the squirrels. However, the toy is very well made. The fabric is sturdy and the stitching is secure. The little squirrels have squeakers in them, and they are also well made and have no little parts that can come off. There are a LOT of little plastic pieces (like little plastic threads) holding the squirrels together and then to the “house”, plus more plastic threads holding tags on the item. It took me a while to be sure I had gotten all of them out of the house and the squirrels, so do be careful about that as any of these little plastic “threads” that are left in the toy could become loose and the dog could easily swallow them. My dog loves this toy, though, and it does take her a little longer to get the squirrels out of the little house than it does for her to get the squirrels out of the larger toy she has that is similar to this. She also enjoys playing “fetch”with the squirrels and likes making them squeak!CDinKS
