Have had pain, aches and muscle inflammation for years particularly on my left knee, ankle and foot; to make matters worse about a year ago the Dr. diagnosed me with an osteoarthritic knee; before that time and since have used many products and devices (non-prescription) seeking to alleviate pain and inflammation. That is until about mid- August 2014 when I was introduced to Absorbine Liniment Veterinary Gel while visiting a cousin in Puerto Rico, of course I doubted its effectiveness. I put some gel all over my knees, ankles and feet that night; the next morning I was absolutely amazed at how fast pain and swelling had significantly been reduced and within a couple nights and days was relieved. I now use Absorbine Liniment Veterinary Gel once every other night and at times during the morning, as I find this regimen works best for my needs. Am happy as can be to declare for the first time in many years my left knee pain is greatly reduced and muscle and ankle inflammation is under control!
This Gel is NOT just for horses. I was having a terrible pain in my shoulder radiating down to my elbow in my right arm from a car accident years ago (arthritis). The gel did wonders. Although this product is labeled veterinary liniment and recommended for animals only, I have used it for years for joint and arthritis pain upon the recommendation by my Hollywood Stuntmen friends as the only thing they use. I've used this for quite some time after not being able to get a different product anymore. The vet wanted to sell me a product with green-lipped mussel and New Zealand deer antler velvet. I'm not falling for the idea that New Zealand deer has more effective velvet. I couldn't find deer velvet here (yet), but did find this product with green-lipped mussel. I has other ingredients I like as well, including Green Tea extract, Hyaluronic acid, and Boswellia. If your dog only has regular arthritis, this product alone may be enough. I find that I have to supplement additionally for my very arthritic dog. However, the vet said he had 3 months at best before he'd go down and we'd have to put him down. I have 6 small breed rescued dogs that are all seniors. I've been using this for all, except one dog for many years. One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and can't use this supplement (I believe it's a beef and/or liver sensitivity), but the other dogs have no problem at all. They like the taste and most importantly it really helps! All of my dogs being seniors, 9yrs up to 18yrs (yep, 18 yrs old) have joint issues from age and this really seems to help with joint pain and even joint popping/cracking. They seem to be able to play more on this supplement too! If I ever run out, I noticed their joints popping more often and after only a couple days of using this product I notice a big difference. I haven't used this for larger breeds or younger adult dogs, but I imagine it would be great for them too, especially with all the joint issues that come with larger breeds. FYI, ALL the supplement sizes are the same product but with different sized scoops and dosage instructions based on the scoop size. I believe all the jars except the smallest size come with a larger scoop (supposedly 1oz, but seems to be more IMO) and the dosage instructions are based on the included scoop. So, if you're like me and buy a large sized jar for multiple smaller dogs, make sure to check the dosage instructions on the small size jar accurate instructions. Or maybe just contact the company for more accurate dosage instructions. I read all of the reviews so I decided to give it a try for my 10 year old Pitt Bull. He wasn’t his spunky self for 2 months. He was slow getting up even for his treats. Bought this yesterday for my 6 year old maltipoo because he has back pain from time to time due to ivdd. Vet wasn’t in and the hospital was booked. Emergency room costs a fortune. So with no prescription, I decided to give this a try. My lil fur baby was in so much pain, he was trembling and wouldn’t eat (understandably so). I gave him a 1/2 one in the car and about an hour later gave him another half cause he still seemed to be in pain…next thing i knew he was eating like crazy lol!!!! About 6 months ago, my cat, who has feline leukemia, stopped eating, was constantly vomiting, sleeping, and cringed whenever I touched her. Our boy cat Steven is mean to our other cats. He’ll stalk them and when they aren’t expecting it, he’ll attack them from behind, digging into their skin in their backsides with his claws and teeth. So, I got this collar for my cat. I thought it would help calm. He gets excited when someone comes home after he has been home all day alone, which is understandable. I really wanted it to work. I wasn't sure what to do about traveling with my 2 year old cat. I travel to my mom's to spend time with her and have always brought my cat with me. I turned to this product for my cat after everything else failed. She has a chronic sinus infection that did not respond to multiple rounds of two different antibiotics. Two of our rescue cat are 8yrs +. They ambled about day to day, but we didn't see them running or trotting much. One of them we'd seen a few times attempting to jump up on a table, then hesitating and stopping. A couple of times, she didn't quite make it and fell back to the floor on her feet. They've both been on these drops for 3-4 weeks. No problem with tasting them in their wet and raw food. They are both now moving more energetically. They've both galloped across the lawn and the one who had trouble jumping up to a table now has no problems. The turmeric colours the food with an orange hue but this seems to be ignored by the cats and they eat up with no problems. Always with a new supplement, we drip a very little tuna or tuna water on it and that helps them eat the first serving of food with new drops in. Or start off with one drop only, and work up. I've bought these a few times for my little doggie! He is a 7-year old Chi mix that weighs about 24 pounds. We give him one a day as a treat. I purchased because he has torn his doggie ACL in the past. We did not get the surgery for this, as a small dog it healed on its own, but as the vet said, he will have some arthritis-like mobility issues from that leg moving forward. It had proven some, very moderate effect on my doggy's joint issues. I cannot recommend it for that reason, but it doesn't make it a bad product. In fact, he found it tasty enough not to spit, which is impossible with Strand syrup he was prescribed, and it didn't affect his stool–again unlike Strand. What really helped him was a gelatinous-rich diet, if you wonder, but the smell is horrendous and it definitely made him fart like crazy. So, considering this, I think, it doesn't hurt to try these soft chews and see if it does your pet any good before looking for something else. Dasuquin is an updated product from Nutramax. We gave Nutramax Cosequin to old German Shepherd and Australian cattle dogs that have since passed on because it gave them relief from joint pain that was obvious in the improvement in their ability to get up and lie down and run again. I'm giving maintenance doses of Dasuquin to two large dogs we have now that are age 4 and 5yr to extend the life of their joints. The ingredients are similar to human nutritional supplements for older people: Glucosamine, chondroitin, brewers yeast, dextrose, green tea extract, gum resin, lecithin, cellulose, mixed tocopherols, flavoring and soy protein. avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) ….. We haven't used Dasuquin long enough for a long term review so my rating is based on previous experience with Nutramax products. The tablets are 3/4 inch in diameter. My dogs won't eat them as they are so I break them into fourths with my fingers and drop them into their food. The tablets are easy to break. My service dog broke her leg at four months old in three places. Now that she’s ten she has bad arthritis in that leg. When I got Molly she had trouble going up the few stairs from the back yard to the deck and, most pitifully, could not put her back feet down to empty her bladder and, even more sadly, her bowels. She would do a quavering handstand and do what I've seen called a "taptoe" movement to steady herself into position. What a sad life for this nice 50-lb. pointer mix who is always wagging her tail. It only took a couple weeks of the six-week initial treatment for her to be able to use her back legs to steady herself for these functions. I had decreased the height of the risers on the back step to 4 inches the second day I had her and saw her struggle. That helped her walk up normally but slowly. But after Adequan (in combination with carprofen, dasuquan and gabapentin) kicked in, she immediately started bounding up them at top speed . And that is how she chases my other (bigger) dog around the yard. She still mainly uses her arms to boost herself into the car, but usually without struggling. I give her end a boost if she's faltering. I am glad that I decided to try Adequan instead of having that CSL(?) surgery which has such a severe recovery time. She has had a very happy and active year instead of being a semi-invalid. When I see her backsliding, I give her a booster, even if it is before the 4-week "maintenance" cycle that evidently most vets seem to follow. So my dog is about 14 years old and has some joint issues due to age and injuries over the years that cause him to limp sometimes and he struggles with clbing on things. He is also a fairly picky eater. It took a few tries to get him to eat these vitamins, and I'm pretty sure it was the smell or the fact that they look like medication. He does seem to like them well enough now that it's been a few days. He was already on supplements that we were pretty happy with, and these seem to be producing the same results. They seem help reduce his overall discomfort from his joint issues, and his digestion! Other brands of senior vitamins have caused some very stinky results if you know what I mean, but thankfully it is the opposite with these! I've always found it hard to review vitamins of any kind because you have to just trust they work to some extent. My two dogs love these, so that's good! I do notice a difference in their digestive health, which I love. One of my dogs has a sensitive stomach and I would often hear gurgling noises and she would have gas after dinner. Probiotics would help her a little, but after about a week of use with this I did notice that was calming down. After consulting my vet again asking if this could be helping she said most likely it is. This makes me happy as I've spent many years trying to find something to help her. As for the other ingredients, mobility, joint health, and bone strength aren't issues for either dog yet. So I have a beabull, mostly English bulldog. He’s a 7/8 mix. Out of nowhere his cute little black nose started getting crusty and cracked. I waited a while and it didn’t let up. I bought this for my dog’s (14 year old Shar Pei) keratin buildup on his nose and paws. It dissolved the stuff great and I was able to wipe off the stuff on his paws after one application. That was really impressive. My dog has fairly mild Hyperkeratosis but his nose gets a fairly thick layer of buildup, and this product allows you to remove it fairly easily after a few applications over a couple days and a cooperative pooch. I was really impressed with how well it worked. I use it now preventatively which prevents bad buildup on his nose and paws, so all in all I’m certainly a big fan. I recommend at least the 2oz can if you think you’ll use it on the paws. The 2 oz can generally lasts me a couple months even with multiple applications per day. My dog had surgery on his paw and has to wear a cone for 7 days. The one from the vet had plastic loops to connect to the collar. He has had a very difficult time getting comfortable and seeing around since the plastic wasn't really clear. I saw this online and bought it to see if it would help. I don't think any cone would be ideal but I have to say that this works out a lot better than the other cone. It took him a moment to get used to the fabric parts and ran into some items during that time. I don't love that it doesn't keep a round shape and just falls on his head while lying down, however, it's flexible fit allows for more movement when he lays next to an object, or me. I think it fits comfortably around the neck. He seems much more comfortable and able to fall asleep without without struggling to get adjusted. I am overall happy that I bought it. I bought two of these products this week for my dog who’s neck is about 18inches. The company’s site recommends to size up if your pet is between sizes which he is between L/XL… this may not be the best option for all. In the size Large my dog had the right fit to see and function normally BUT he could still lick his leg, which was the whole reason for the cone. With the size XL it just barely velcros around his neck and he can’t do much because the top of the cone flops into his eyes constantly. This is still the best option over a traditional cone which is why this got a 3 and not a 1/5. The other issue I have with it is that it should have snaps instead of Velcro. Our dog isn’t particularly sensitive to sounds but the Velcro is right next to his ears and he’s terrified of it. I’d love a better version of this maybe a large that extends a little past 18 inches or maybe even a size L/XL. Honestly I would’ve returned the product if he didn’t get hair all over the velcro on both of them. Maybe if your pet is between sizes shop around for something else.DogParent25
I bought this when my sons husky got spayed at age 2. She didn’t like the plastic one we got from the vet and was bumping into everyone and it’s so jolting because they are hard plastic. This Zen one worked perfectly for her! She was much more comfortable and when she bumped into things it has some give. She could see out the clear windows which was nice too. She has a long nose and still was not able to reach her incision. My other sons dog (cattle dog mix) had an issue with his skin around the same time and got a bad hot spot so he needed to wear a cone for awhile. While he didn’t like any cones he did better with the plastic one from The vet because he didn’t like that this flopped on his face when he laid down. Recently my sons other husky needed one for an injury to her leg that required staples. She tolerated this cone very well and did not like the plastic one. So overall I say it’s worth a shot. I personally love this one, it’s easy to wash, easy to put on and take off you just weave their own collar through the straps and close it up with the Velcro. Just an FYI the round donut looking collar doesn’t work. We tried that as well and the husky was able to reach her incision so if you’re debating on that type or this one, definitely go with this one.Trish505

If I had to guess this is expired, but could not find a date on anything. It was basically a brick. When I ordered it was the only one that came up and now when I look for these there are like 5 different ones. Starting to not like this website. I never trust myself when I cut my dogs nails! Having this stuff on hand is definitely needed and gives me more confidence even though I rarely need it. But knowing myself (and with my luck), if I did not have this, I would be googling ways to get blood out of carpets! Such a lifesaver!Shawna B.
Keep this on hand for trimming our guinea pig's nails. His front nails are clear/white, so it's pretty easy to see the quick, but his back nails are dark and once we (my GF, I hold him) got his quick. Luckily we had this stuff on hand, and it stopped bleeding basically as soon as we dipped his nail in it. My GF is going to school to be a vet tech, and she prefers the powder form, so that's what I bought. Also went with the smallest container, because she's pretty good at avoiding the quick on animalsC.
