From a very demanding, cranking old (18) kitty who does NOT liked to be combed: This comb is A-OK. The metal teeth do not cause static electricity. Nothing is worse than little snapping shocks from plastic brushes and combs. And the wide set teeth do not get stuck in the hair before even getting started. Some of the large mats that have made the skin underneath tender is still a challenge, but the sharp (protected) teeth help to cut through the mat a little at a time. When I get irritated with the process, there is always tomorrow. It would be nice if there were a way to turn the teeth around to make it easier to comb in a different direction, but that is my mommy's problem! I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. Unfortunately I dont know what this was for did not take him to a vet. Infected area did resemble pictures of ringworm online. Im not a vet but am thinking whatever it was it was some type of fungal infection. Benefits of product; it wasnt expensive, was easy to apply, and has a light pleasant scent.Debbie

Recieved a 3oz bottle of Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, this stuff is amazing! My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product. The day I received it, I rubbed down her belly with it (this is where she itches the most) and it seemed like she felt instant relief. When she starts scratching, I apply a thin layer of the gel and she stops almost immediately. And it lasts for hours! I love that it is a non-toxic alternative to antibiotics and steroids for a safer way to relieve skin, and vet approved. My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. This product is on the shelf next to a dozen others that claim to do the same thing, but I didn't get to it until three others didn't get the job done. This showed visible improvement within a day. Bonus that he didn't lick it off – before I tried this I would combo an antimicrobial with one of those "bitter taste dogs hate" sprays, but my dog is weird and loved those things and would lick them like crazy. I'd have to wrap his paws and watch him like a hawk. Not so with this! He stays away from it so it can work…bonus points bc spray plus consistency is easy application. I keep three of my four havanese in a full coat, and the stuff makes their maintence very very minimal, and most importantly, combing them is not uncomfortable for them at all! I have not encountered any matting, it keeps them silky soft smelling fresh and it actually helps them stay cleaner longer, the best stuff ever made! This beautiful cat of mine has long fur with cotton type underneath and sensitive skin. Therefore, it is essential to brush carefully everyday. Since some brushings were missed, her fur matted to the skin – ouch! The detangle worked, but not down to the skin. It was massaged in and then some places needed to be cut. I continue to use the detangler lightly everyday and she smells wonderful! I find it to be lightweight on her fur type – she doesn't care for the sound of the spray so I pour into my hands and rub in. I realize there's no miracle type for matted fur and may need to be razored or cut so brushing daily and using this products works well for me. Thank YouKathy P.

I use this shampoo almost exclusively for our one-year-old basset hound. It lathers well and rinses easily. I always use the leave-on conditioner after a thorough towel drying, and it never leaves his fur feeling greasy or waxy. The formulas are marketed for prevention of skin issues, which is why I decided to try it. While our basset has never had any skin issues aside from occasional itchiness after bathing with other products, we would like to keep it that way. He has never seemed itchy or irritated after using these products. The scent of the conditioner is more potent than the subtle scent of the shampoo, but it's nice. It smells like vanilla cupcakes to me!
This product was recommended to me by Chewy. I used it on my Cocker Spaniel to treat severe fungal infections on her skin with lots of dandruff, sores, and hotspots with extreme itching. Used it 2x a week for about 3 weeks leaving it on her for 20 minutes before rinsing and followed by the Zymox conditioner, that i didn't rinse out. I noticed improvement right away. That was about 3 years ago. It worked really well and we haven't had that dandruff, sores, or smelly skin problems again. And now i just use it on her about 1x a month. I am happily writing about how ZYMOX Hydrocortisone Cream helped my dog from a discomforting itch. My dog had irritating skin. She had red bumps on her stomach, it was an environmental reaction. Once I gently rubbed the cream on her, it soothed her and she didn't scratch. The redness has cleared and she feels so good. She's playing and she's happier. I followed the directions and read the about the cream before applying it. I've also gone online to read about inflammation and other products that ZYMOX sells.
