First, the best parts: This harness works great! Rufus (catahoula leopard hound/mix) does not pull AT ALL anymore and he seemed to "get the idea" all on his own with little to know training . . . it is almost as if being led from the front j ust instantly changed his mentality. I have always been able to walk Rosie (American foxhound) like a puppy on a string and sometimes almost had to pull her (laziest foxhound anywhere) so it is also nice with her to not be pulling her by the neck . . . she plods happily along. It's easy to adjust, easy to put on, easy to take off, looks very nice, holds up well, does not chafe. Here is where there is room for improvement: as noted in some other reviews, the sizing is off, but what I noticed is a bit different . . . both dogs measure very close to the middle for the size I ordered (medium) but all of the straps had to be adjusted to the tightest it would go in order to fit and it still seems a bit loose around the FRONT. I tried turning it upside down as noted by the company in response to some of the reviews, but it seemed to fit almost the same. So you may want to order a size smaller or call the company before ordering to be sure that it is going to fit. The other thing I am not fond of is that the buckles seem to be right at the armpits and that bothers me probably more than it bothers the dogs. However, here is another upside! When my (adult) son accidentally put the harness on the dog incorrectly, we found that it can also be used with the D-ring on the back instead of the front (at least on these breeds) and it works beautifully, so if you want the leash to attach to the dog's back rather than to the front, it's sort of a "bonus" use of the harness. Rosie (the easy walker) seems to prefer this Other than the sizing issue (which is probably also the issue with where the buckle falls), I LOVE this harness and it has truly "turned my dog around . . . The chest adjustment is at its loosest, but the chest/belly straps are almost maxed out on tightness, so I couldn't size up to make it better fit my 50lb lab/chow mix. The chest strap also slips down with extreme pulling, which fortunately for my pup isn't super frequent, but it has tripped him once. I think the instructions say that the chest straps should be tightened if this happens, but they also say that the harness should be a T shape, and if I tighten the chest strap, it definitely pulls behind his front legs. The best investment I have made for my puppy, who is growing fast and extremely jumpy. It got to the stage where I found it incredibly difficult to walk her, but the Halti harness works a treat! The Halti double ended lead can be wrapped around you so you use your body weight rather than your hands/arms to stop the pulling. I can literally walk hands free! You can then take the lead off the front part of the harness and it becomes a 6 foot lead, which is great for recall training. If you take the whole double ended lead off, the harness has about a 1ft lead attached to it, which is easy to grab if you need to when you let your dog off the lead. This harnass lasted exactly three minutes. I put it on my dog, adjusted it, and she chewed it for a second and it completely tore. The company acknowledges that it can not withstand even a quick nip from your dog. Ridiculously poor quality. Their answer is for you to spend another 12.99 for a warranty to get another harnass which will do the same thing. Awful product that is expensive. Dismissive and unethical customer service. I really like the product. The two connection points give me more control over my reactive dog. A few months after purchase I noticed some of the nylon was unraveling near one of the box stitches. I contacted the company and provided pictures and they replaced it right away. Great product and great service.

What a fantastic harness! My 90 pound dood is a consummate outdoorspoodle and now he can pack his own water, snacks, and frisbee thanks to the bungee cord feature. The harness is wonderfully customizable. I have a Huge, deep chested giant pal who is wearing the 2-3X size. It fitted but the underneath pad came right up to our dogs chin when she was lying down in the car, making it uncomfortable. Our female boxer, size Lg was unable to use the harness as her vulva was totally covered by the webbing that adds support to the harness. I spoke with company, no other option in size was offered. This is a high quality harness, I was sad we couldn’t use it. The leg circumference was measured as required at 11-12 inches, but it still slips off my dog as the bridle/harness part is too small due to the girth size around the lower section of my dog (Puggle) he has a belly @40lbs. There were no recommendations for dogs that have larger girth size/lower mid section that advised to order larger size. Also he is not only thicker in his back section, but short in rear length as well, so in that situation bridle/harness is too long for him to comfortably expel his stool without it getting caught in the harness – really bad fit all around. One size does not fit all 🙁 even with leg girth measurements – need hip circumference and torso length as well. I will return this item and send photo of ill fit on a separate email and in return envelope.Debra

This item is Extremely difficult to get on the dog. It would have been better if it had buckles so the straps could be opened to go around the dog's legs. If the dog is having trouble standing and is laying down, you need to slip each leg through a loop and try to slide it up to his hips. Difficult to do when the dog weighs 140 pounds.k9kodak

I chose the Walk About Harness and a matching leash to use for my dog’s “working gear”. I’m training him to be a registered therapy dog and it was suggested that he have different gear for this. We call it his working gear so he knows the difference when I put the Kurgo harness and leash on instead of his nonworking harness and leash. He quickly learned the difference and it has helped immensely with his training.
Doesn’t hold up well to daily use; the metal strap adjusters cut into the straps with daily wear and I’ve already noticed tears in the straps where the adjusters are. This harness has been the first I’ve found that enables me to adjust it to fit my dog’s narrow front chest however it does not appear to hold up well to daily use. I would not purchase again since it appears the straps will tear and fall apart in a couple months.ShannonC
I really like that this has a front and back clip so we don't have to change out harnesses for walking and car rides. And there's a lot of room for adjusting the size, including the chest. Our golden has a narrow chest/shoulders and other no-pull harnesses would have a pretty big gap that would hang down. The only thing I'd say to watch out for is make sure the adjustable hooks on the chest piece are locked in place after sizing. One did slip out of place (while my dog was rolling around) but, the harness didn't like fall off or anything. And it hasn't happened since, so I think it was more owner error than anything else. Our golden seems to like it! It's quick to put on so she can get outside fast and seems to be comfortable for her.Bekah

Our 15 year old golden retriever corgi is increasingly having issues with his hind legs and mobility can be very difficult. He needs most help when he is going in and out of a car via a ramp, in and out of the bath, and on bad mobility days we need something to help us get him outside to go to toilet – we basically use the handles to keep him upright in order to do his business. This definitely helps but with modifications for the latter task. Duke is long bodied and wide like a golden retriever but with very short legs and is about 50 pounds, so he needs support all along his body and we have to get the XL size to fully accommodate his length, it is a bit big at the front and does look like we have turned him in to a duffle bag, but that's part of the fun. The issue is when we need to take him to toilet using it, and I've had to cut a rectangle in the middle of it, between the straps, to allow him to be able to relieve. It washes great in the machine and even with the cut out the material has retained strength and hasn't frayed. We are lucky that our guy is no more than 50 pounds, I can't imagine managing this condition with a heavier dog. Even at that weight it is a bit of a struggle, but this certainly makes it seem less like he is being hurt as we do it. It is all very stable and everything is equally supported without any 'yelps', which wasn't the case with others. So it works very well for us and we are very thankful to have found it (we now have three of them).LainieA51
As our yellow lab “Griffin” began to age it was heartbreaking to see a formerly active, vibrant field dog begin to loose the strength in his legs. He loved his rides in the car, and as a passionate field dog, he could negotiate any rock wall with ease. As he aged he couldn’t even climb the stairs to come to bed. We used your dog lift assist carrier to help him up stairs, and boost him into the car, so he returned to his roll “Driving Mr. Griff”. I would make one design suggestion that might help improve this product. On the double strap lift handle, I would add two sturdy additional horizontal lift handles 1/2 way down the sides of the primary straps, thereby enabling two people to lift the dog from both sides of the carrier. This really helps with a heavier dog! Overall, this is a well designed, and well built product!
Have a beagle with hind leg, disk issues. Tried a vet two-piece harness & that was impossible to get around his legs & then his tail, too. I read a review by someone saying this one is hard to put on, but trust me, compared to the trapeze contraption- it’s cake. And you’ll learn better ways of placing it under their belly & then slipping their front legs through. This one-piece, I find, is also easier to manipulate to allow added pressure or remove pressure. Most handy when he’s pooping & can’t handle the squatting. Anyway, my guy at the smaller size of medium & so like Houdini he manages to get his front paws out of the holes & either wears it like a tu-tu sometimes or w/ one paw out, trips across it. Larger, medium size dogs, more toward 50 lbs & longer probably get a great fit. Other critique is a nice V-cut in underside toward back would be great to still allow support – but prevent guy dogs from possibly peeing on it. In all: great aid & it helps my wife lift him into the truck when we use it as Orvis thought it’d be used.GerryB
