I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. Unfortunately I dont know what this was for did not take him to a vet. Infected area did resemble pictures of ringworm online. I am so thankful to have found this today! My poor dog could not stop scratching and licking under his front legs, and they were raw and bleeding. He was whimpering but would not stop. Sorry not a review but a question. Sounds like this works well but I have a horrible time keeping my Shepard from licking his wounds. I am glad I read the reviews on this product. They helped me to decide to give it a try. I have a dog with severe skin allergies. He is on premium dog food. He gets wiped off every time he come in from outside. I still was having problems with him biting or scratching himself raw. I have tried several other natural products but this seems to be the only one that gives him much relief. I do have to spray him several times a day, but it is worth it not to have him scratching. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. So we did the best we could with a dropper to feed and water her and rushed out to get Vetericyn to help stave off the infection which reduced the angry redness to a healthier pinkish. For the very few days we had before we had to go, I was keeping her hydrated and was spraying her face with the Vetericyn regularly (as directed) even as we headed out the door with one last treatment. We did cut our weekend trip short by a day out of concern for her, but when we came back she was doing significantly better in that the swelling was down, but was reddened again. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. I bought this for my dog Tilly – who stepped on a Thawn – and has constantly been licking her paws. It caused and infection in her foot so I immediately started searching for other creams or antibacterial sprays. I found this 5 star product as the first pop up I saw, and thought it looked a great amazing cream with almost all positive reviews and at first I saw no impact on the feet and considered changing creams to a spray instead but I gave it one more night and when I woke up the next morning the impact for her was huge! I was so pleased at purchased another just in case. It’s a great product and recommend it for sores and bumps but definitely not open wounds. Cocker has “dry eyes and prescribed steroids and cyclosporine twice daily each eye. Suspect his extremely elevated liver enzymes may be due to long term steroid use or could just be his age. Haven’t tested for Cushing’s but sonograms reveal no tumors on liver or pituitary glands. He was lethargic and never feeling well until his doctor advised trying the Denamarin. His Opthalmologist concurred it was a great idea. Haven’t yet tested his liver enzymes again to see if the numbers have improved (hasn’t been on them quite a full month) but I’ve reordered and will receive the pills monthly. Bottom line: he’s a lot more energetic, playing with his toys again, not sleeping all the time, just overall feeling so much better. He’s acting normal again—normal for an 11-plus year-old Cocker. Did a lot of research before giving him the Denamarin and felt they were safe, and most people had positive results using it. Only drawback would be that the pills for large dogs are really big. You’re supposed to administer 1 hr before or 2 hrs after a meal, which I do with a little piece of boiled chicken breast to hide it and help it go down, and it goes down without a problem. Can’t imagine any dog of any size being able to swallow a pill that size without an owner hiding it in a little chunk of something, cheese, pill pocket, treat. Anything to help it go down easier. And helps if they drink a little water. Can’t wait to have his liver enzymes tested again. I’m confident they will have improved. Side note: when one’s liver is not working properly, urine can have an odd and strong odor, which his did. Standing several feet away, I knew something wasn’t right. My OTTB who was on the track for 9 years gets frequent abscesses. He refuses to put his hoof in a bucket, especially the front hooves. If I get it in the bucket the longest he will let me do it is 5 minutes tops and the water flies everywhere. The ANIMALINTEX POULTICE is easy to apply and you can leave it on over night and walk away. To apply it I soak it in warm water, then wrap with vet wrap and then cover it with duct tape. Before I start the application I create a boot with the duct tape by cutting 4 approx 12 inch strips that I place together horizontally than I cute 4 more equally sized strips and cross them vertically over the horizontal strips. Recieved a 3oz bottle of Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, this stuff is amazing! My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product. The day I received it, I rubbed down her belly with it (this is where she itches the most) and it seemed like she felt instant relief. When she starts scratching, I apply a thin layer of the gel and she stops almost immediately. And it lasts for hours! I love that it is a non-toxic alternative to antibiotics and steroids for a safer way to relieve skin, and vet approved. My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. This product is on the shelf next to a dozen others that claim to do the same thing, but I didn't get to it until three others didn't get the job done. This showed visible improvement within a day. Bonus that he didn't lick it off – before I tried this I would combo an antimicrobial with one of those "bitter taste dogs hate" sprays, but my dog is weird and loved those things and would lick them like crazy. I'd have to wrap his paws and watch him like a hawk. Not so with this! He stays away from it so it can work…bonus points bc spray plus consistency is easy application. I highly recommend this product. I’ve been using Zymox for years. My terrier mix has Ear Edge Dermatitis. It’s incurable and usually tears up the edges of the ear from constant cell overgrowth (auto immune) and dogs will be plagued with constant ear issues and itching. When I notice him itching, I put a few drops in ear and massage into ear canals, then rub into the edges of ears. Do this for a couple days, itching stops, ears are clean and have a healthy pink look. It’ll be several weeks before he starts itching again. I don’t worry about using the hydrocortizone or damage to skin (thickened skin) because it works for so long.Itlookscute
I had used this before, without success for my cocker spaniel. So, this was my 2nd attempt. It worked great in 1 ear, but not the other. I used it for 14 days, and on day 15, the infection was back in the one ear, but gone in the other. Product works great on certain infections, but not for others unfortunately. I've always liked Zymox products, but this one really impressed me! GSD/BC mix has had continual ear issues since having a hematoma drained in her right ear. The ear lays over and is full of thicker tissue which seems to hold in a ton of moisture. This last bout of pain and scratching was making her (and me!) absolutely crazy and, after a week of use, the regular Zymox I always have on hand just wasn't cutting it. I did a bit of searching and found the Zymox plus advanced formula and figured I'd give that a try before resorting to a vet visit, antibiotics, steroid drops, etc. After the second day of use, she stopped shaking her head, scratching and whining. I want to add before I start my review that I no longer use Burt’s Bees products because I wanted something stronger for my dogs. I also originally bought this product with the intention of using it for one of my dog’s dry skin. With that being said I have a miniature poodle with severe allergies that caused him to scratch at himself until he was bleeding and scratched off the skin in multiple location on his body. He is now medicated and is a lot better with the correct products. This product did help with his allergies minimally but did help his over all coat a lot. His coat was soft and shiny after using the product and after a few weeks his dry skin that was caused by a previous product was much better. My senior dog's liver values have been elevated due to medications and age. SAMe and Milk Thistle were recommended and we have been using both by Vita Pet Life. My dog likes the taste and eats them as a treat. He's 95lbs so we do have to give 4 tables/day but this brand is still the most economical for a large dog's dosage and it is clearly written on the bottle in the description pictures.
