Our boy cat Steven is mean to our other cats. He’ll stalk them and when they aren’t expecting it, he’ll attack them from behind, digging into their skin in their backsides with his claws and teeth. Occasionally Steven also walks around the house meowing incessantly. We really hoped this collar would help. Out of the package, it smells a little like lavender so I was pleased that the scent wasn’t obnoxious. I put it on Steven, who weighs around 14 pounds. The collar was too big but I was able to easily cut off about 3 inches so it would fit. I made the size so it was snug but so I could fit two fingers between his neck and the collar. After 5 days the collar disappeared. Steven is an indoor cat so it’s a mystery where it went. His regular collar stayed on though. During the five days he was able to wear it, I didn’t note any change in his annoying behaviors. Overall this collar was a bust.Kengreen51
So, I got this collar for my cat. I thought it would help calm. He gets excited when someone comes home after he has been home all day alone, which is understandable. I really wanted it to work. The description sounded very encouraging. Well, it didn’t work for my cat. To be fair, part of the reason it didn’t work was because my cat couldn’t stand the collar on him. It wouldn’t stop messing with it and trying to get it off of him. I left it on for about 5-7 minutes. If cats could talk, I think my cat would have said those were the longest 5-7 minutes ever. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because I can’t really say one way or the other. Based on my experience, don’t get the collar of your cat isn’t used to collars. It did not calm my down at all. I wasn't sure what to do about traveling with my 2 year old cat. I travel to my mom's to spend time with her and have always brought my cat with me. I purchased this collar to go with the Garmin Pro 550. The system is of the highest quality, used by professional dog trainers who only want the best. Easy to pair with my existing transmitter and works exactly as intended. The only negative point I can make is the lack of colors. I have three hunting dogs, and my transmitter will work simultaneously with three collars. My transmitter has a color coded toggle in Red, Black and Blue to chose the dog that needs some encouragement. This is a very nice heavy strong collar. Love the twist and go feature. Had to remove the little plastic tag to make it small enough for my WFT to use. Wish they could make it tapered for smaller dogs. Use the same twist and go technology and metal. Just taper down the collar and use a plastic clip instead of metal for putting on/off. Whistle used to have a useful health tracker, but they changed it such that it provides little useful information now. The tracker itself is horrible, and causes more problems than it’s worth. I only really use it when we’re hiking off leash. It takes longer than 30 minutes to connect when I’m trying to find the location of my dog, regardless of whether he’s out of sight or nearby and I see him. And there are plenty of cell towers nearby. One time it did connect and it — falsely — told me he was in the middle of a highway, and I almost caused an accident trying to find him. I since inferred this was false because another time it told me he was 1 mile away, in the middle of the Mississippi River, about 5 seconds after I saw him near me. I have had whistles for several years on several dogs, the classic box shaped health + GPS unit has always worked great. When the dog is away from home it updates frequently even in areas with low cell service. I have had two of these health + GPS + units that have the switchable batteries. Neither have worked. They very rarely alert that the dog has left the home area and even when they do, they are unable to track the dog at all. Even on an hour long hike, it never finds the dog even though there are several dogs wearing classic whistles that are operating perfectly. I live in an area that has about 2 bars of cellular service. This may be the problem but that is common around here and in many rural areas. Some of the health features do work but I buy these units to keep track of my dog and these don’t do that. Get the classic box shaped unit, they’re great. Also, the size guide says these switch units fit on very small dogs and cats. They absolutely do not. I have a 21 pound beagle and the switch was completely unusable on her. The classic unit is a little big but works for sure. The switch did fit my 50ish pound lab border collie mix very well. Whistle, if you are listening, the switchable batteries are a good idea but this design doesn’t work. Design something different and stop selling it, it doesn’t work. I don’t know who needs to hear this at your company but don’t sell things that don’t work. Also, fix your size recommendations for it, they are misleading and wrong.
The data collected about my 2 dogs’ health and activity is great. So far we haven’t received any false notifications about them leaving the zone, which was a problem with the Go. And when one of them took off recently while we were far from home, the location tracker was great and more frequently updated than our old Go models. This was true even in close range when she was hiding in the woods nearby in a very rural area of northern NH. My biggest complaint is the collar itself. With the switch, we cannot choose our own collar. Our dogs are both on the low end of the size, which means a constantly floppy end. The larger dog tries to grab her sister’s collar when they wrestle, which is dangerous. And the two small plastic pieces for holding it in place don’t stay put for more than 5 min. It’s driving us bonkers and we are looking for hacks to keep it in place. Also, the metal grommets already look loose after only a month of use. I’m worried about them giving way. I just ordered another Large-Extra Large Caring Collar with Calming Disk from Pet Guys, my second Caring Collar for my 8-month German Shepherd to protect her surgery (spay) yesterday. The first collar, I used for my 2-year-4-month-old German Shepherd was when she was spayed at 10 months old. GSDs are usually very strong dogs that tend to struggle with anything put around their necks or mouths. But Caring Collar makes it easier and diminishes such struggle when putting the Caring Collar on and off around the dog's neck, unlike the plastic e-collar, which to me was so difficult and a great struggle. When I used the plastic e-collar on my first GSD at 10 months old, she banged the e-collar against her crate, managed to partially get it off and chewed it. It took a lot of sweat and difficult time for me to mend it and put it back on her neck. So, I had to go back to the pet shop to buy a new one, until I saw Caring Collar. My dog recently had surgery on his paw and he unfortunately kept licking his surgery spot. We went to Petsmart to look at cones and they had the plastic ones that looked so uncomfortable and this. This was pretty pricey but opted to go with it for the comfort etc. Although he hated it it served its purpose! He could still lay down, eat and drink with it on. I have had this since January of 2018, best purchase IMO, is it perfect? No, does it work really really well? Yes it does. Is it sometimes slow to lock onto your phone? Yes, easy fix as I turn the collar and receiver on prior to getting ready or when we get into the car, that way everything is good to go when its time to go. This collar has tracked my husky as she ran off leash while out on hikes. It shows on our phones where she is, when she stops running, when she barks and what path she takes. It is neat to be able to watch the paths she takes when chasing the deer in the woods. It has tracked her over half a mile away. Had difficulty getting the remote and collar to connect to the app. Not even 24 hours after owning the collar, the remote completely died even after a full charge. When the remote worked, it was pointless. Only 1 button that toned, vibrate, and shocked. Had to use the app to switch what the button did. E-fence feature was a joke. This collar worked great, until it didn’t. I purchased the collar and used it 3 times before it completely stopped working while hunting cause me to lose track of a dog for hours. Luckily I found the dog but had less luck getting help and a replacement. Customer service said this is happening with this collar so they are out of stock and will call me back with options. 3 days, multiple calls to them and no call back. While it was a good idea to reduce the price by putting the Pathfinder2 app on the user's smartphone, in practice, it proved to not be very user-friendly. Here are the issues I have with this unit: 1. I wear shooting gloves and each time I want to look at the app, I have to take my glove off to enter the PIN to unlock my phone. 2. The one-button handheld is proving to be not very useful since I end up going to the app on my phone 99% of the time. 3. Having to reconnect the 3 pieces each time is annoying. 4. the app isn't very user-friendly. Had a heck of a time trying to change the names of the collars in the app from dog_1 to my dog's name was difficult. After testing the unit for a week, I decided to sent it back.clor

The Dogtra Arc collar is just what my American Treeing Feist, 11 month puppy needed. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around. This was a game changer for our dog. Several very bad behaviors/habits were corrected within a week of getting this collar. Obviously your results will depend on your dog and how you use this, but this was an invaluable tool for training our dog. Some details: 1) We find that the charge lasts a couple of days (we take it off and turn it off at night when the dog is sleeping). 2) Range is at least a few hundred yards. Never have tested out to the advertised 400 yd range. 3) The vibrate feature is very helpful (and pretty much the only thing we have had to use since the initial training). 4) The "Nick" shock feature is a great attention getter for the dog. 5) The range of shock levels provides everything from you can hardly notice it to pretty intense.In PDX
I purchased this and trained my dog Neko with it with a professional trainer a few months ago. This device was a lifesaver. Neko is a Shiba inu and they are extremely high energy, love to run and are very intelligent and curious. Neko escaped my fenced yard 4 times by digging, and I have heard that some Shibas can jump and scale fences up to 8ft. So I defitly needed something. I’ve tested this on myself and the “shock” is not so bad if you stay below 20 it just allows the dog to “hear” you in stressful or loud/distracting situations, and it lets them connect the command with the action without you chasing them or forcing them into it. I associate the commands sit, stay, Come, place, free, off and heel with the unit and now she is such an amazing dog, and I don’t have to worry!!eri.v
I have never purchased a training collar before but I was desperate with a eight month old puppy who had some habits that seemed impossible to break. He was dominating our entire existence with his very anti social and unwanted behaviour. I purchased this one as I wanted a wireless version vs the perimeter one I had to bury. We use this when we go fishing as well as around the house. We have only had to use the continuous shock once at level 2. The tone works so well we dont really need the other features but we have them just in case, our dog decides to be really stubborn in the future. My favorite is how easy it is to use, charge and the fact the tone is the best way to get my dog's attention. It has not taken long for him to know the remote goes to his collar and that just showing him he knows to heel or the tone sound will come on and get his attention quickly. My sister is purchasing one as well since my purchase, as she has seen how much it has helped our strong willed dog. He just needed a little extra guidance for his safety as we live off a highway and next to woods with coyotes. Really enjoy the simplicity of the collar and remote. My only wish is that the vibrate setting was higher, our deaf American bully doesn't respond to the vibrate setting very well. Literally bought this as my second attempt first was a petsafe wireless fence and it wasn’t as user friendly as this petsport with a remote. I’m able to keep basic corrections in house and outside in the yard! I was worried it wouldn’t be small enough for my mini Heeler but the collar comes with an abundant amount of holes for proper fit on anything ! Supper pleased with the collar and the three bases it has for training. The beep tone the one hit simulation and the longer hit stimulation gives me theee options to ask my dog according to what she’s doing. I like that it can be supper mild and allow her the chance to be asked nicely and then reinforced mildly and then reinforcement with a sterner setting. A true life saver. My pup was running out to the neighbors across the street and up to meet cars it literally only took thirty mins in house training on basics and then outside yard training for a little under an hour! I am now no longer stressed about her getting hurt she comes right back to me and treats me as I am her safe spot! All the doggy daycares in my area require a snap release clasp for safety reasons. Meaning that I have switch to a regular non-GPS collar when I drop him off. It also means that the health tracking is inaccurate now because it misses the entire time at daycare. It’s amazing that this isn’t offered in the flagship product. Purchased a couple of these extra collars in different sizes. One for a friend's pup (XS/S) and one for mine (S/M). Can only speak to the S/M, since that is the one we're using. Bought so I could switch it out with the original collar when that one gets dirty. I have a terrier mix, so collars get dirty A LOT. Overall quality of materials is great. Study hardware, grommets, and nylon webbing. Cleans easily. Easy to transfer Whistle device to new collar using included hardware. Design definitely is NOT great. As others have mentioned, the sizing is irregular. The S/M I bought separately here is listed specifically for my model collar, but it is almost 2 inches longer than the original S/M collar that came with my Whistle device, also purchased on this site. Both are labeled S/M, so that much difference is bizarre. Grommets are great in theory, but too far apart to get a good fit. An adjustable slide style would size better. If you have a small dog (mine is about 20lbs), the collars are very wide and the devices themselves are large and take getting used to/careful monitoring. There is a large plastic curved piece against the dog's throat (opposite side from the square battery; see photos above) that could do real damage to a small neck, so always use a separate harness for walks (important to do for small dogs anyway) and remove this collar if your dog is playing strenuously with other dogs. No way would I ever use this (as they claim is doable) on a 5lb dog, and definitely never on a cat, as there is no breakaway feature to keep cats safe from getting tangled in brush, etc. Those cautions aside, I love how the Whistle device works — super accuracy, easy-to-use app, and great battery life. I'm definitely a fan, and I'll be using this with my dog and hoping for design improvements in the future.
The tracker works great!!! The collar is a horrible design! We have a Brittany spaniel, so she is one active dog. The first tracker we got was Whistle Go and she broke that one and left part of it in the woods. The customer service was great and gave us a discount on the GPS+Health. The problem we have is the collar is falling a part!!! If you look at the ring holes and the screws that hold the bracket in are coming right out. They need to come up with an option designed more for a hunting breed. One that is rugged and build for dogs to run in the woods and get wet!! Don't get me wrong the tracker is great but the collars needs updating.Brenda

I have always been apprehensive of shock collars, but my dog was back-tracking on her training. She has always behaved very well on a leash, just to forget that training when the leash comes off. In only 2 weeks of use, this collar has worked like a charm! I have only had to shock once- the vibration and beep modes are enough to correct her. Both the collar and remote batteries are still charged after 2 weeks – I haven't had to recharge yet. I had a waterproof beeper before. I learned quickly after drowning it. It is not submersible. Now. I know the difference. And this one is a keeper. I love its freedom.
