We love ruffwear! Have been using their products for 5 years already, love the designs and materials they use but mann what’s going on with the stitching ?? It sucks when the stitching starts coming loose within days/weeks of use, i got two dogs and it feels like you got a 50-50 chance that you will get a product with defective stitching, Got two collars, the “ruffwear” tag started coming loose within a few weeks of use on one of those. Got two leashes, the buckle to use around the waist broke in two days!! On one of those, the other one is still good, Got two fernie jackets, the stitching around the neck started coming loose within ONE wash on one of those, so you get the point… luckily i know how to sew and I’m able to repair the items, but it sucks to spend top dollar on dog gear only to last in good condition for a few days or weeks.Gabriela

For the number of tags I need to have on my dog, separate attachment points for tags and leash are a must. Everything on one ring would be a difficult mess. My Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy is growing quickly, and making small size adjustments a couple times each week is no problem. Once set, it stays set no matter how hard he pulls, no matter if the collar is dry or wet. The webbing hardly absorbs odors, and a quick wash and air dry gets rid of what little there was. My only regret is that my rough-and-tumble beast of a puppy will outgrow his medium collar in another month. I have an 11 pound puppy that was just spayed. So I purchased this to keep her from licking her incision site as she was able to get out of her ecollar and chew it up. What I liked about this pro collar is that her view wasn't obstructed and that she wasn't running in to my walls, furniture etc. she also seemed to be more comfortable in it. What is unfortunate is that she was still able to reach her incision site to lick if she really tried. I can really see this product working on a larger dog that has longer distance between their mouth and site of incision as not only would I need a larger pro collar and the dog would have to really bend farther to reach the incision. This is why I gave it three stars and not a 1 star. I don't see it working in situations where incisions are on limbs and such. So for instance, if my long 80 pound lab needed to have surgery on his belly or torso area I would purchase this again because he will have a longer distance to reach than my tiny flexible puppy. I have this collar. I used it last year when one of my girls had a lump removed from her chest. It was so much more comfortable for her to sleep in that a cone. She was able to see, eat, drink and do pretty much anything while wearing it. I just pulled it out again because my other girl had a cancer lump removed from her armpit area. I have Dachshunds so no cone stops them from licking if they have an injury lower than their midsection. But this worked wonders for both when the injury was on the chest and waist area. Some tips.. 1. It does require a collar to be attached to the inside loops to keep it securely on your dog. You can't just Velcro it on their neck or your dog will probably find a way to take it off pretty quickly. Also, make sure the ends of the tube are touching when you Velcro it or your dog can get around it to chew. 2. Make sure it id inflated enough. If it is not, your dog will get it off. 3. If your dog has an injury that is lower than waist area, it may not be enough to keep them from reaching that area.lilys mama
I've now purchased this twice for my cat when she had minor surgery and it has been a complete godsend. My cat was so stressed out with the cone because it significantly impaired visibility and didn't allow use of her whiskers. She was constantly stressed and trying to hide in the darkest, tiniest, craziest spaces, and would get stuck with the cone and unable to get out or move. Poor kitty. 🙁 She has a history of being bullied by other animals she lived with before we rescued her, and while she is usually very comfortable in our home, she was so scared and stressed from being unable to assess her surroundings and move around freely. Before we knew about the collar we tried a soft cone (didn't help) and two kinds of bandages (didn't stop her from picking at the wound anyway). Then we found ProCollar (the 2nd one we bought is called ZenCollar but it looks/functions the same) and it was such a lifesaver! Once we put this on her, she became almost instantly more relaxed and back to the sweet and loving cat we knew. I am so thankful somebody thought of this idea and made it!!! The idea of my poor cat being stressed out for two weeks (while probably in pain and not feeling good during recovery) made me so sad. I have not had any issues with leaks as others had, but if I did, I would just go buy more, it is that great of a product. My cat had sutures in two places (from two different procedures a year apart) – on her front leg and near her butt – and she wasn't able to reach either place with the ProCollar. We ordered 1 Leather Rolled Collar and 1 Leather Standard Collar. Upon receiving the items, they were both immediately returned. Both collars were incredibly stiff and defective in their own way. The Leather Rolled Collar was defective in that it had a pointed interior piece of leather that directly poked our one dog's neck. The Leather Standard Collar was also defective in design, where the buckle ring is placed on the wrong side of the buckle making it painful to proper secure. My Labrador had stitches in her front leg right on the ankle joint so it was at high risk of infection as very close to the bone. I was hoping this would negate the need for the huge buster collar however, she would still lick at it through the sleeve and make it wet therefore increasing the risk of infection to the wound. She therefore still had to wear the buster collar as well as the sleeve to stop her licking it. Within a couple of days, there was a hole in the material of the sleeve and since then, a further tear has developed, so the quality of the material is not that good. She has also worked out how to get her leg out of it so all in all, it hasn’t been that great! That said, I would still recommend using one as it was better than not having the wound covered at all but for me, it didn’t negate the need for a buster collar unfortunately.Julieann
1 Very happy owner and one calm snoring Dog. He`s been at the top of his leg the last few days and licked it raw . No socks long enough and a long sleeved T shirt was not a success . I have had a Mendota collar for my older dog for 5 yrs now. We had nylon and another leather before this for her as well as other dogs. It's the best collar I've ever used. One or twice a year I take it off,, scrub it down with soapy water and a stiff brush, then put on some leather cream and it looks good as new. I've got a new pup who seems like he will be pretty big, I just wish there was a larger width than 1". Not out of necessity as I would have no doubts in the strength of the 3/4", just for appearance. Also, I had purchased the last collar 3rd party as they offered custom ID tags riveted to the collar. Would be awesome to get that right here and cut out the middleman.PAUL L.

I bought this collar for our boxer on recommendation. He was having trouble with quite severe skin irritation on his throat from where his collar and buckle rubbed. Boxers don’t have the hair protection that some other breeds have. Our daughter suggested this Doog collar for him as she was using one for her young boxer. Or you could buy it with an extended Asurion plan on Amazon. I purchased this collar maybe 3 months ago and the buckle now pops open when my dog pulls on his collar, whether it be on his leash when he sees a squirrel or at the vet while they are just holding him into place. My dog is 55lbs and barely pulls on his leash, only when he sees small animals. Not impressed the buckle! I really liked the collar but I would prefer it if the buckle didn't break or if it was more like the belt style.Grace
I purchased this collar or one very similar for my dog last year and it ended up rubbing off his hair on his neck area and leaving an irritated raw patch. As a pet owner I was very concerned sense the collar wasn't very tight at all, I don't want this happening to anyone else's baby. I did reach out to Carhartt to inform them of this defect and they seemed concerned and offered to replace it with a better collar. They ended up not replacing it and continued to give us the run around. We also did send photos in to show how harmful it was. I loved there product but it's super disappointing they don't stand by there word. Carhartt is more expensive then most clothing so it's just frustrating I payed good money For a product that is supposed to be durable and safe. Just don't understand.Stella
Stylish and good-looking collar. Unfortunately, it's not as durable as we had hoped. The buckle/clasp is half plastic and half metal which causes it to fail over time. Ours worked great for a little over a year on our 45 pound hound, and then began to fail if our dog applied tension to it against his leash which would cause it to fall off of him.
