I just ordered another Large-Extra Large Caring Collar with Calming Disk from Pet Guys, my second Caring Collar for my 8-month German Shepherd to protect her surgery (spay) yesterday. The first collar, I used for my 2-year-4-month-old German Shepherd was when she was spayed at 10 months old. GSDs are usually very strong dogs that tend to struggle with anything put around their necks or mouths. But Caring Collar makes it easier and diminishes such struggle when putting the Caring Collar on and off around the dog's neck, unlike the plastic e-collar, which to me was so difficult and a great struggle. When I used the plastic e-collar on my first GSD at 10 months old, she banged the e-collar against her crate, managed to partially get it off and chewed it. It took a lot of sweat and difficult time for me to mend it and put it back on her neck. So, I had to go back to the pet shop to buy a new one, until I saw Caring Collar. My dog recently had surgery on his paw and he unfortunately kept licking his surgery spot. We went to Petsmart to look at cones and they had the plastic ones that looked so uncomfortable and this. This was pretty pricey but opted to go with it for the comfort etc. Although he hated it it served its purpose! He could still lay down, eat and drink with it on. My dog had surgery on his paw and has to wear a cone for 7 days. The one from the vet had plastic loops to connect to the collar. He has had a very difficult time getting comfortable and seeing around since the plastic wasn't really clear. I saw this online and bought it to see if it would help. I don't think any cone would be ideal but I have to say that this works out a lot better than the other cone. It took him a moment to get used to the fabric parts and ran into some items during that time. I don't love that it doesn't keep a round shape and just falls on his head while lying down, however, it's flexible fit allows for more movement when he lays next to an object, or me. I think it fits comfortably around the neck. He seems much more comfortable and able to fall asleep without without struggling to get adjusted. I am overall happy that I bought it. I think it was overpriced but in these situations I would pay a lot for his comfort.Hurley0902
I bought two of these products this week for my dog whoâs neck is about 18inches. The companyâs site recommends to size up if your pet is between sizes which he is between L/XL… this may not be the best option for all. In the size Large my dog had the right fit to see and function normally BUT he could still lick his leg, which was the whole reason for the cone. With the size XL it just barely velcros around his neck and he canât do much because the top of the cone flops into his eyes constantly. This is still the best option over a traditional cone which is why this got a 3 and not a 1/5. The other issue I have with it is that it should have snaps instead of Velcro. Our dog isnât particularly sensitive to sounds but the Velcro is right next to his ears and heâs terrified of it. Iâd love a better version of this maybe a large that extends a little past 18 inches or maybe even a size L/XL. Honestly I wouldâve returned the product if he didnât get hair all over the velcro on both of them. Maybe if your pet is between sizes shop around for something else.DogParent25
I bought this when my sons husky got spayed at age 2. She didnât like the plastic one we got from the vet and was bumping into everyone and itâs so jolting because they are hard plastic. This Zen one worked perfectly for her! She was much more comfortable and when she bumped into things it has some give. She could see out the clear windows which was nice too. She has a long nose and still was not able to reach her incision. My other sons dog (cattle dog mix) had an issue with his skin around the same time and got a bad hot spot so he needed to wear a cone for awhile. While he didnât like any cones he did better with the plastic one from The vet because he didnât like that this flopped on his face when he laid down. Recently my sons other husky needed one for an injury to her leg that required staples. She tolerated this cone very well and did not like the plastic one. So overall I say itâs worth a shot. I personally love this one, itâs easy to wash, easy to put on and take off you just weave their own collar through the straps and close it up with the Velcro. Just an FYI the round donut looking collar doesnât work. We tried that as well and the husky was able to reach her incision so if youâre debating on that type or this one, definitely go with this one.Trish505

I had high hopes for this collar as my older dog has a chronic condition and we are all very tired of his cone bumping into all of us and the whole house, and so is he. But, despite measuring and it appearing to fit exactly as described in the instructions, he had NO TROUBLE getting to the growth on his underside. Complete waste of time and money. He may as well be wearing a sock. We tightened everything to the point of it being uncomfortable for the dog and still he just reaches around like its nothing. The e-collar provided by my vet was almost impossible to fasten & unfasten. Ran to TS & got this one & itâs MUCH better. Easy & fast to snap closed, same with opening for removal. I have an 11 pound puppy that was just spayed. So I purchased this to keep her from licking her incision site as she was able to get out of her ecollar and chew it up. What I liked about this pro collar is that her view wasn't obstructed and that she wasn't running in to my walls, furniture etc. she also seemed to be more comfortable in it. What is unfortunate is that she was still able to reach her incision site to lick if she really tried. I can really see this product working on a larger dog that has longer distance between their mouth and site of incision as not only would I need a larger pro collar and the dog would have to really bend farther to reach the incision. This is why I gave it three stars and not a 1 star. I don't see it working in situations where incisions are on limbs and such. So for instance, if my long 80 pound lab needed to have surgery on his belly or torso area I would purchase this again because he will have a longer distance to reach than my tiny flexible puppy. I have this collar. I used it last year when one of my girls had a lump removed from her chest. It was so much more comfortable for her to sleep in that a cone. She was able to see, eat, drink and do pretty much anything while wearing it. I just pulled it out again because my other girl had a cancer lump removed from her armpit area. I have Dachshunds so no cone stops them from licking if they have an injury lower than their midsection. But this worked wonders for both when the injury was on the chest and waist area. Some tips.. 1. It does require a collar to be attached to the inside loops to keep it securely on your dog. You can't just Velcro it on their neck or your dog will probably find a way to take it off pretty quickly. Also, make sure the ends of the tube are touching when you Velcro it or your dog can get around it to chew. 2. Make sure it id inflated enough. If it is not, your dog will get it off. 3. If your dog has an injury that is lower than waist area, it may not be enough to keep them from reaching that area.lilys mama
I've now purchased this twice for my cat when she had minor surgery and it has been a complete godsend. My cat was so stressed out with the cone because it significantly impaired visibility and didn't allow use of her whiskers. She was constantly stressed and trying to hide in the darkest, tiniest, craziest spaces, and would get stuck with the cone and unable to get out or move. Pulling him tight only chocked him. I did my research and bought this. Worked amazing on the first try. Did pull but very slightly. I was able to walk him with only one hand! Garbage. I recall when I considered purchasing, there were reviews that said it fell apart. It had mixed reviews but I decided to see for myself. Now there is only one positive review. Were they deleted? Suspicious. Moving on – this has now fallen apart twice. The first time it was the connecting hook that is different from all the rest / not secured properly. I fixed it and thought we were back in business – until last night when another hook pulled out and chain fell apart while walking dog. She took that chance to run away, nearly getting hit by a speeding car. My son was walking her and is entirely traumatized. Going over this collar link by link today shows many that simply slip out. So unless you are prepared to go through this link by link and bend each to make it secure, spend the extra money for one that is made properly or your dogâs safety is not guaranteed. I bought the P.H. travel set to see if this would help my highly allergic, health challenged Scottish Terrier. (I've tried so many things, prescription and non prescription) Shes constantly on antibiotics for the sores that crop up all over her body and stomach from allergies. I'm sure my phone was listening to me trying to figure out what was going on with my pup's lips/jawline/snout- a natural dog co. ad appeared on my feed (s/o to surveillance?). i don't know what's so special about this stick of snout soother, but IT IS AMAZING! i didn't take a picture of my dog's before nose, but it was nasty – crusty, brown, flakey. Day 1, i put on the snout soother and thought to myself, "oh shoot, i'll just take a before picture tomorrow." Day 2 – same thing – thought to myself, "well i'll get to it tomorrow." Day 3, i put on the snout soother and my dog's nose was 3/4 healed! what the heck! so much for my before/after pic! Today is Day 4 and his nose is 98% back to normal. At 1st I was disappointed in the size but I was happily surprised that a little goes a long way! My pomeranian is on a lot of medication for multiple issues & the side effects make him severely dehydrated…his nose, especially, really worried me!!! The inside edges of the collar where it is "melted" together are constructed well without any sharp edges as I have found on other brands. I buy these double braid collars for my puppies because they're infinitely adjustable. The prong from the buckle goes into the braid at any point for fine adjustments for rapidly growing puppies is possible. I also like them because they're priced right, enabling me to buy several so when one gets dirty I can just pop a new one on while I wash the other one and I can switch colors when I feel like it. Our lab/retriever cross became frightened of loud noises, using the collar has steadily improved the situation. It doesn't work immediately, be patient for a week or even two. A noise de-sensitisation CD (follow the instructions exactly) will also help considerably. Just check the tightness of the collar every few days because some dogs will scratch at it and can occasionally loosen it slightly – when cutting off the excess length leave an inch so that it doesn't fall off if the dog does scratch at it (they soon stop).Nicholas J

Our 16 year old terrier became terrified of the car about a year ago – hyperventilating, fighting to get out – heartbreaking and we couldn't take her any further than our dogminders so we could go out on business. We bought the Adaptil collar about 3 weeks ago and she is far less frightened. Sits fairly comfortably without 'twitching' and doesn't fight to get out when the door is opened.
