I have two very strong Scottish terriers who would pull when they saw another dog or cat and they actually pulled me over. I was fed up with having bruised and scraped hands and knees so I asked Google where I could get a non pull harness. They came up with several and I chose two from Petplanet.co.uk. The best investment I have made for my puppy, who is growing fast and extremely jumpy. It got to the stage where I found it incredibly difficult to walk her, but the Halti harness works a treat! The Halti double ended lead can be wrapped around you so you use your body weight rather than your hands/arms to stop the pulling. I can literally walk hands free! You can then take the lead off the front part of the harness and it becomes a 6 foot lead, which is great for recall training. If you take the whole double ended lead off, the harness has about a 1ft lead attached to it, which is easy to grab if you need to when you let your dog off the lead. As I previously stated I bought two of these harnesses in two different sizes. A small and a medium as I was not sure which would work. The small is a great fit for my 13 lb Shih Tzu. But this is summer and she is shaved down. I am going to use the medium size for winter to go over her sweaters and coats. I have a Mini Australian Shepherd puppy, and this harness is so good!! The way the leash attachment “floats” along the dorsal strap makes it work really well no matter where he is in relation to me (front/back/side), and it had really helped him learn not to pull, because unlike a collar it’s not actually unsafe for him to test his limits (so I dont have to try and keep him from doing it, just address when it happens). Good product, comfortable for dog, easy to adjust for size differences, holds up well for changing weather conditions and stress from use. I have purchased three harnesses in the last two years, all for the same dog as he grows. Only problem is where the harness crosses the dog's back and where it adjusts under the belly. When the harness is attached to a leash on the back clip, it slips and shifts until the back clip and leash attachment is hanging on the dog's side. And where the harness has two fixed adjustments near the dog's belly where the harness is held in place by snaps, the snaps aren't strong enough to stay closed when the dog moves, so the straps going through those loops shift and slip until the harness is out of adjustment. Together with the problem of the loose strap on the dog's back, for a large dog like I have, the harness is always twisted or loose unless I make some reinforcing stitches at those two key junctions. The first harness I purchased when the dog was smaller already had those two key junctions stitched and held in place. The next two harnesses needed to be stitched heavily by me in order to stay in place, which was difficult because the material is very tough and thick and isn't easily sewn by hand with a standard needle and thread. I don't know why the company stopped reinforcing those key junctions for the harnesses needed for large, strong dogs. Once the harness junctions are reinforced, the harness is good for a large dog being tethered or walked, and is easily put on and removed even if the dog doesn't hold still. I especially like the fact that the harness can be custom fit around both the neck and the chest, and from neck to back. That allows for long term use while the dog grows.
Purchased and selected size last year based on Kurgo size chart recommendation. Harness was way to large, at the smallest setting on our 56# Aussie. Also hooks/ slides on back of harness twist and turn, don't stay in place.. The adjustment slides don't stay in place in the front and the harness , after one pull is huge again. Purchased Halti harness as last resort to control large pup. Due to urgent surgery at 12 weeks of age and essential crating post-operative 24/7 (except for toilet breaks) for 5 weeks following her procedure, the critical period of training unfortunately couldn't be completed during this time frame. Once able to commence training, she had grown significantly, was very strong and strong willed … finding a harness / lead to assist with her training was difficult until stumbling across the Halti harness. Bought this product for a 7 month old puppy that is still learning to walk on lead and pulls so badly on a flat collar that she starts to choke herself. Fitting of the harness was very easy and adjusting the straps very simple. The inclusion of the clasp that attaches to the collar is a very good idea as it helps center the front of the harness as well as a safety precaution if the harness comes loose. I was suprised by how well the harness worked, there was no pulling right from the start. When my puppy gets over-excited (e.g. sees another dog) she attempts to pull but is easily controlled compared to the flat collar. I find the straps need readjusting fairly regularly and as they get loose the harness becomes less effective. This could be overcome by stitching in place at correct adjustment but as my dog is still growing I don't want to do that just yet. Overall I am very happy with the harness and it suits my purpose of continuing to train my dog to walk calmly on lead without her pulling so hard that she is choking herself and possible causing damage.08cactus
Purchased this for our rescue red heeler who had never been walked on a lead at 16 months old. He pulled constantly and walks were unbearable. The first few walks seemed to be improving and now (even with all straps tightened and adjusted to fit) the front point connection slips around to the side of his neck so it loses all benefits of being a front pull harness and he's pulling as bad as ever! Will be looking elsewhere for a harness that doesn't move around as much. Waste of money.Tarsh

Pnut, my 1 year old pug rescue is very sensitive to most harnesses and just forget about wearing collars! After researching, and a very long search, I finally came across the Hurtta Padded Dog Harness. It is sssoooo easy to put on and less pervasive than any harness we've tried in the past. Due to him being a bit 'puggish', the harness easily adjusted to Pnuts girth and is comfortable but yet supportive enough that he was more responsive and didn't pull. Love this harness. Have had my previous Hurtta for around 6 years. Have looked and looked for one in a UK shop as the previous came from abroad but had not found one. Was so happy to find this online for a reasonable price and my dog is now happily walking. We’ve tried other harnesses on her and she wouldn’t walk. My first impression was they where a bit expensive however once they arrived and were fitted – wow!! Beautifully stitched, great quality and they really stand out with the reflective stitching. The soft neoprene padding is so skin friendly and my dogs can happily jump in puddles with out fear of rubbing or their harnesses being drenched. Ive bought three sets of these now, they are the best and safest and I love them. That said I dont like the buckle system sold separately (Lookout Tether Straps) with the plastic buckles and the way the connections are. I feel if there is an epic car crash these will not hold these harnesses or any and can break off or loose. Ive looked all over trying to find a tested and strong system for smaller dogs that work with the Snoozer bed systems and the vehicles seatbelt systems. I also use the Lookout Tether Straps on the double wide Snoozer beds and oy one Chinese cresteds gets these straps all twisty around the other. There has to be a better designed systems!
Quality product, excellent service. We have an 18-lb schnoodle and ordered the small size padded and mesh vest harness. Harness is easily adjustable. It's perfect for the car (with safety strap that connects to seat belt) and for walking. This particular harness does not chafe under arm pits as some do. Also love the fact that loop for leash attachment is on the back of the dog and not near the neck. So much safer when either braking the car or pulling on leash while walking…doesn't choke the dog at all. Really great product!!Pam
This vest fits very well and it is very soft and flexible. I got the mesh bright pink color and it really add some color to my puppy's white with tan marking fur. I especially like that it is so easy to put on and take off. Simply slip the head through the vest, tug the vest under the body, and secure on both side. Voila! It's on. This harness is made for a very specific kind of dog, if you do not have that dog then it probably is not for you. I have a 7 year old rescue who is very traumatized and touch sensitive. We are still working on touch and I have absolutely no desire to push her past her limits, but I live in an apartment complex so she needs to be harnessed to go potty. This is the FIFTH harness that I have purchased for her and by far the best one yet. It is as easy (and touch free) to put on as a slip lead! To me, this is a miracle. I can take her outside without compromising her neck in a slip lead and without worrying she will wiggle free. I am going to do my best to explain how we put it on. First, I slide the tightening strap to it's loosest (all the way up). Then I pull the middle of that strap all the way back so the part that is usually in contact with the metal rings is touching the leather strap (where the leash attaches). This is key, because it keeps the loop as wide as possible for getting the dog's head through. Then you just slip it over the dog's head (head goes in between the felt part and the opening that you just made). The ENTIRE felt circle should be on your dog's chest. Then if you ask your dog to take a couple of steps forward, they should just put their arms right into the hole! Once their arms are through the felt hole, you can tighten. I would just go as far as you feel comfortable (if your dog is snappy). This harness functions like a slip lead so you can use tension to make up for it being slightly loose and they shouldn't be able to slip out. When you are slipping it over the dog's head, you have about a foot between the dog and your hand (if biting is a concern for you). My dog is wearing a size small.scoutgalash
This harness and leash set is amazing. It was to small for my large breed dog but fits my cat perfectly. Ots very easy to get on by design. The harness itself has an extended leash attached with an adjustment piece. So you can make the harness a bit bigger to put on an tighten to fit your pet. It is a good tightening piece that stays in place. No hard buckles rubbing on your pet! The leash is also good quality and good length to keep your pet close. The leather looks stylish with good stitching. The handle is so soft and flexible. The maroon color is kinda a brownish maroon that looks great with the brown accent. Highly recommend. I bought this for my senior dog who is a 7lb Chihuahua, she’s about 12yrs old and I put it on her without it being difficult, I like how you don’t have to snap it like a regular harness, because she gets scared of the snapping noises. The only thing that wasn’t convenient was the large metal piece that you can use to hook and unhook the leash. I put it on her for a walk and I picked the leash up and the metal hit her little head and she got scared. I felt so bad that happened, I love the harness and I’m going to keep it. I’m just going to purchase a smaller leash that doesn't have the bulky metal to use with the harness part.Ash12345

Tried a S and M for my 29lb corgi who is in between sizes. M fits better on the smallest setting though not great for walking bc the chest strap is a bit wide but that’s okay. This is for car safety and we have another dedicated walking harness. This is great quality and I feel better knowing she’s safer. Bought a seat belt clip. She’s able to move around comfortably. I purchased the x-tra-large harness. It was very loose on my dog even though he has the right dimensions for that size. After spending an inordinate amount of time adjusting the straps we had a good fit. However, he very quickly, by wiggling around a bit, loosened the straps back up. I tightened them up again, only for them to become too loose. Once he even got out if the harness! While in the car! Not happy. My dog is a pitty and he weighs 75 lbs.Debra
Harness came quick and was easy to adjust. I would highly recommend it. Only 4 stars because of a couple minor issues. The first is when at its smallest adjustments, the extra strap hangs loose. Not a big deal but with my puppy, she can then grab it to chew on. The other thing is, the two rings to attach a leash to are too far apart. When clipping on a leash, it bunches the clasps together making it uncomfortable for the dog. I end up just using a separate collar but it would be nice if I didn't have to.Sandra R.
