For me the jury is still out on this one, I'm afraid. I have an elderly dog, which was diagnosed with elevated levels of liver enzymes during a pre-op blood test. The vet recommended these tablets, but in 3 months we have been giving them to the dog these liver values haven't shifted a bit. The vet tells us without the tablets the liver values would be even higher, but the cynic in me rather thinks that the tablets simply don't make the slightest bit of a difference… But regardless of the medical history of a single dog, I am not happy with the way the tablets are formulated: They are supposed to be given without food, on an empty stomach, yet the manufacturer is incapable of mixing a bit of meat flavour in there. I have a 13 year old dog(Cassie) with a large age related lipoma.My research has indicated that such fatty lumps can be caused by toxin build up , so I decided to try her on a good quality liver supplement to help her body detoxify, I wasn’t expecting the lump to reduce, just support the liver, in the hope it wouldn’t increase in size. I noticed a marked increase in her energy levels and general enthusiasm for games and walks, from about week two on the tablets. Dasuquin is an updated product from Nutramax. We gave Nutramax Cosequin to old German Shepherd and Australian cattle dogs that have since passed on because it gave them relief from joint pain that was obvious in the improvement in their ability to get up and lie down and run again. I'm giving maintenance doses of Dasuquin to two large dogs we have now that are age 4 and 5yr to extend the life of their joints. The ingredients are similar to human nutritional supplements for older people: Glucosamine, chondroitin, brewers yeast, dextrose, green tea extract, gum resin, lecithin, cellulose, mixed tocopherols, flavoring and soy protein. avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) ….. We haven't used Dasuquin long enough for a long term review so my rating is based on previous experience with Nutramax products. The tablets are 3/4 inch in diameter. My dogs won't eat them as they are so I break them into fourths with my fingers and drop them into their food. The tablets are easy to break. My little critter Killer has a liver issue, which was critical since he was young. Taking the supplement has reduced the issue. First starting about 10 yrs ago, I had to give the supplement daily for months until the blood test indicated normal levels. Now years later, the issue is back, but at lower concerns and now he takes the supplement every couple of days vs daily. It works to keep the liver healthy. Our 13 year old dog was experiencing soft stools, had lost quite a bit of weight for her size, and had lost her playfulness and vigor. We took her to our Vet who ran blood work. Our 14 1/2 year old dog Koko is a terrier/ poodle mix. She has been healthy with very few problems over the years. We have been making her food for years after consulting a vet with naturopathic training. One day at the end of May she began urinating constantly which continued overnight & the next morning. I stumbled on the Pet Wellbeing website in my frantic search a few weeks ago & I ordered the milk thistle from Pet Wellbeing because I figured that I have nothing to lose by adding this to Bandit's daily regimen! Well, we went last month and had a full blood panel draw for Bandit, as he also has Addison's Disease, liver shunts and is diabetic! I was hesitant to try a supplement that was not from my Vet but after supply issues and a large price increase I started researching alternative products. I am now on the second order of this product which I give to my senior dog that was diagnosed with Cushings disease. He is doing wonderfully although he will not eat it directly. I crush it into hi9s food. As long as you have this product I will continue to use it.
My dog was diagnosed with lymphoma last year and was taking a different liver support supplement prescribed by the vet. I decided to try a different supplement that was more natural and less expensive. This supplement contains the same derivative from milk thistle that the vet supplement contains. My dog loves the flavor of these liver bites and seems to be doing very well on them. I definitely will be ordering more in the future.
I got this for my lil ol gal who showed liver issues on a blood test before going under for her teeth cleaning. Changed a lot of things for her (diet, etc…), researched some & more while this was out of stock. Found that milk thistle is mentioned many times as a recommended help for dogs with liver/kidney issues. Before this I didn't realize some of her symptoms were related to her liver. The diet change was very effective but didn't curb all of her symptoms. In the meantime, I got her a bottle of milk thistle & it did eliminate more of her symptoms. When I got this product, I switched her over & the gain in less symptoms remains intact! My 7 week old tri color bully has vomited in his third day at our house, I googled and saw it said it’s normal for pups to do this sometimes, no worries. Two days later early morning(6:50am EST) he vomited then about 10 minutes later he pooped out about 8 long worms, found they were Roundworms. I immediately went to Meijer and grabbed two boxes of this 7 Way De-Wormer for Small Dogs and gave him a tablet which he happily chomped down. He passed loads of dead worms in each stool that day(like twice). The next morning his belly wasn’t bloated anymore but he wouldn’t eat much but drank water. By the evening he was felling great and back running through the house, he passed about 3-4 live worms in 2 of his 3 stools that day, the third stool had no worms! On the third day there were no more worms in his stool but I gave him the other tablet because I saw a very good vet recommend one deworming tablet day one, a second on day three then again in two weeks. It’s day 6 and he’s been worm free for going on 3 days! It says not to use til 12 weeks on the box, however if your pup is over 6 lbs then I think its okay to use. My little girl is a pit and catahoula mix and shes only about 7-8 weeks old and she handled the dewormer very well. She passed a HUGE tapeworm 🤢 we decided to deworm her due to tape worm segments being passed every so often which is absolutely gross. It took a little over 24 hours for her to pass everything. This is the single most effective and affordable dewormer for dogs. I will recommend this dewormer to everyone and use it for any puppies that I have in the future. Liquid dewormer from the feed store has NOTHING on this stuff and my puppy wanted to eat more of the tablet so I guess it was good. Seriously, get this for your pet you will not regret it.Sara
These worked right away for my 12 pound 1 year old dog. It took overnight to see the results. I snuck it into a chewy treat before bedtime and he didn’t notice it at all since they are super small. After receiving only 1 of the 2 pills (give second pill 2-3 months later for lasting results), he didn’t have anymore worms coming out of his poop and randomly out of his butt. He was constipated for about two weeks to a month and I don’t know if it had anything to do with the worms or the pill but he’s never had that issue before. It was a pretty quick fix by switching out his food temporarily for soft/watery food. Do not think twice about getting it for them as it is life threatening to wait too long for a vet visit. I have been using Dasuquin MSM in the hard pill form for over a year now for my almost 15 year old, 88 pound Airedale – Standard Poodle mix. I have been very impressed with the improved mobility my dog has/is experienced/ing. I decided to try the soft chew, but was a bit nervous given another reviewers comment that they were too large and his dog would not touch them. I called and spoke to 1-800-PETMEDS and the person I talked to told me that I could return the product for a full refund if my dog doesn't like them. So I decided to try. He loves them! I have been giving Nutramax Dauquin Soft Chews for Small Dogs to my 11 year old Maltese dog, Molly, for over 2 years. It has absolutely changed her life. We have been using Revolution on our kitty since he was 6 months old. He came to us from the shelter with coccidia and roundworm. No matter how hard we tried, the roundworm refused to clear. I have a very rare unusual case with a cat that I rescued last year as a kitten. It was diagnosed with rickets. This product has been his life saver. It's very palatable and easy to put on his wet food to give him on a daily basis. This product helps him process his Vitamin D so he doesn't have mushy bones where he suffers from soft folding fractures. I am a vet assistant, and I see all kinds of animals coming in with different skin conditions or allergies and always felt so bad for them and their owners….. then I got a dog with allergies and then I found out what it's really like…. it is devastating watching your dog itch and scratch to the point of pulling their hair out, then when the hair is gone… then there goes their skin…. they will make themselves bleed and still won't stop. He hasn't had any issues for over a year now and although sometimes he scratches its more of a normal itch. This medication literally saved him and my sanity. This is my first puppy/dog ever. I have a 7wk old Aussie/Lab mix who gets terrible separation anxiety when left alone (in a room or in a crate). He's pretty chill otherwise but, during crate training, he will whine and scratch at the crate to be let out, which becomes a challenge with my 430am work schedule. I finally cracked and bought these a few days ago…he's now sleeping through the night and is out the whole time until I get home. These things are amazing. I may ONLY use them for sleeping but I highly recommend them to new puppy owners for anything that may stress out your pup!Kiddo
Our 2 dogs are fine with the taste and size. Minus one star cause my yorkie doesn't seem to get calm after taking it (he usually gets overly anxious before a walk). But it works when he takes it and stays at home – he just sleeps all day. If you have an overly-sensitive dog then you might not see desired results; you may need to give double dosage.iHerb Customer
I have a dog with brain/neurological damage. This caused her to have bizarre behavior, difficulty walking and extreme anxiety.
