Best No Hide Dog Chews (Jan 2023 Update)

My puppy is almost 9 months old. He’s been eating these four and about four months. I can’t keep enough of them around for him. He loves them so much. I feel very comfortable letting him have them because it’s not real rawhide, but it seems like it is the way that it’s made. It’s a very good substitute for rawhide, I won hundred percent recommend purchasing your treats from pokey dog. I purchase these because they are NO-hide twists/chew sticks for my small dog. I have given them to her since she was a baby and her best friends also eat them only. She loves to chew on things relentlessly She will complete 1 stick in 20 -30 mins. She is a very energized dog and needs things like these peanut butter sticks to help her relax after an hour of agility practicing/playing. I continue to buy from Polka Dog these same flavors along with one or 2 other flavors to keep her happy. She is very interested in these and I hope to continue keeping her happy with the peanut butter flavor and have purchased some as gifts for her little friends too. RobinROBIN

Because on of my dogs has skin allergies we are trying to track down, he is on a limited protein diet, strictly fish. These are the first long lasting chews I have found which are fish. Although the dried fish and fish skins give him pleasure, these are longer lasting chews. Thank you for giving me a fish option! I got the small size just to try them. My dogs are 60 and 65 pounds, so when I reorder them, it will be a larger size.Christie

Other non rawhides give bandit an upset stomach and bathroom issues. However, with the No Hide-Wholesome Chews he doesn't have that problem. Also, these No-Hide chews last a while, where as other brands he can rip. through quickly. I highly recommend. He gets so excited when he smells them!E &. B.

Loved them at first. My Norwegian Elkhound loves them and one will keep him busy for at least an hour. Problem is….. he throws it up the following day. He does not eat the whole thing…..abandons it after it gets all the outside delicacy off. But throws it up every time. I’m so sorry. Thought they’d be a great idea for him 🙁Mary N.

My dog loves everything from this company, and I love the company themselves! They use such wholesome ingredients, they are easy for my pup to digest, and their customer service is awesome. The beef and venison are my pups favorite, but he has not met one that he does not like. These are long lasting shoes that can occupy my dog for hours and hours and hours. If he gets bored of them, I typically unroll them and lather up a little bit of peanut butter and he’s right back at it for a while. Such a great chewy for him to be occupied with if there’s some thing I have to do around the house! These are not dangerous because they don’t splinter like rawhides do. These no hide rawhide are the best things ever. I used to always order them from the local farmers market but for some reason the manufacturer stopped making them. This is the only site that I can get them on now. They are pricey but worth it. It takes my dogs a little while to get through them so they are occupied for a bit. I would recommend them for any dog owner. Good for them and easily digestible as regular RaW hide is not.Cindi K.

I order these because I was told rawhide would be bad for my dog. These are amazing. She loves them, as you can tell. By the holidays they get ones shaped like gingerbread men and candy canes. The rest of the year she gets these chip type chews. They have beef and chicken flavors and she seems to love both equally. Never have had an issue. Probably have purchased 10+ bags this last year alone. We only allow her these and bully springs/sticks.kayley.b

My boxers love the chews that are darker & have a sufficient flavor coating. More often lately, the quality has dropped considerably – they won’t eat the plain ones. I order online in a box of 8. More & more the chews have no dark flavor coating, are stringy, hard – low quality. I stack them up & return those to the Petco store. I do check for & buy the dark ones there if available. They are just very inconsistent- the quality varies greatly. Just comparing various packages (visually) you can “see” the difference. I am looking for a substitute for these now. I bought these to keep my corgi occupied while I work, since the back claimed that "You can rest easy knowing that your pet can enjoy Nothin' to Hide Rawhide Alternatives for hours, safely and reliably." Well, I cannot argue the enjoy, nor the safely. But these last 10 minutes before being gone entirely. Beware, these stink. Really bad. Like wet 1970's shag carpet. They also stain the white legs on my Siberian Husky. Both huskies LOVE these bones more than any other bones I've purchased. Chicken is the only flavor they like from Dently's.jessica.w

I only have one bone to pick with and it's their claim of being "Long Lasting" for "Moderate Chewers." Dixie isn't really the super chewer type, especially when it comes to rawhide type bones/chews. Give her a traditional double end knotted rawhide and she turns into a cartoon character, trotting around the house, trying to find a place to bury it. Eventually someone will find it, either by stumbling across it or having the unfortunate of discovering it tucked away between the couch cushions. And once the bone has been found and returned to her, she quickly restarts the process of finding a new hiding spot. She doesn't wait to chew them later when no one is around. She never chews them, she just…hides them. Needless to say, that's what I expected when she took off trotting with the first roll treat we gave her. I was oh so wrong. From the time we heard her start crunching it until the time my husband had to take the tiny end away from her, was well under 10 minutes. Being engineers, we were prepared to properly track and record results. So, official time on the second "long lasting" bone by a non chewer? 7½ minutes.amber.h

My PUGGLE loved these chicken rolls dog chews. They were just the right size and they lasted for a long time. They were high quality and made for medium sized dogs w real chicken flavor. They are highly digestible. He actually chose this over his rubber ball that had his snacks stuck inside. I also like that they help clean his teeth at the same time! Our poo loves the "no hide" chews. And, because there's no rawhide or skin in them, he has no problem whatsoever chewing them. For a std. poodle, he could use a larger stick than the skinny ones available now. These are the safest chews I have found anywhere; dogs can ingest them without developing digestion/intestinal disorders.Donna

I am always on the look out for treats that are long lasting for my dog but safe at the same time. I chose to try this product because it is a "rawhide alternative" and it is "long lasting." My dog had one of these things finished in 5 minutes. It is not chewy at all, it is crunchy and crumbles very easily. I learned my lesson to not purchase this brand anymore.Mhdal

My golden doodle enjoyed eating about half of one of the treats, however 12 hours later his belly was suffering for it. He had insane digestive noises coming from his stomach, which I could tell he was uncomfortable. He kept eating grass trying to soothe his discomfort. Got these to try on our adopted pup that loves to chew. Nothing last very long with him. One of these lasted several hours ( w/ supervision). He is past the chewing stage per say but loves to chew. He chews these very well, chews until it softens. I wouldn’t give to just any dog as with any chew. I checked with the company and no chemicals used to make these. My dog likes them, he chews them well and makes me happy he will sit and chew for awhile giving me a break to rest.Samsshopper9

I have two 70 lb. pit bulls and one 40 lb terrier mix and they love these chews. Not only do the dogs love them, I love them because they keep their teeth clean and white. The terrier mix came from a bad situation and his teeth were horrible. He was under a year but his teeth were so caked with tartar that the vet wanted to do a cleaning right after his first birthday. That is when we started with these. The vet was amazed at how well these things had cleaned that dog's teeth. One note: they soften as the dog chews on them. Bits of the soft melted chew will come off and stick to whatever the dog is laying on. So do not let your dog chew them on any kind of material you cannot wash. I learned early on not to let them chew them on the couches or recliner in my living room. Nor do I let them chew them on my bed because the spread is too big to fit in the washer. These must taste really good but I am not sure how well a smaller dog would do with these. I would be concerned about a smaller dog choking. If you have big dogs, though, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.Barbara

My dogs are incredibly picky, and they absolutely love anything from this brand! It’s a treat I feel comfortable giving them. Unless something has changed, they’re made in the US. My dogs are Italian Greyhounds, and their breed is notorious for dental problems. I tried giving them Greenies, but they refused to eat them. I tried putting an additive in their water, but they refused to drink from any bowl that had the additive. (The bottle said it was tasteless and odourless, but somehow my dogs always knew!! I tried putting it in while my mom took them outside, but they still knew!) I also tried brushing their teeth, but that was a huge fight. I couldn’t do any brushing with them squirming, kicking, and trying so hard to run away. I bought chicken flavoured toothpaste, but they didn’t even care about that! So- I’ve been giving them these bones for a long time now, and their vet has told me that the bones have been helping to keep their teeth free from tartar and has improved their dental health. My girls haven’t had dentals the past three years, because their wasn’t enough tartar on their teeth to justify putting them through that and under anaesthesia. One of my girls doesn’t react well to anaesthesia. So we absolutely love these treats! All dogs and humans are very happy campers!lauren.c

I have been purchasing these treats for over a year now on a weekly basis and these last few months have been terribly disappointing!! Prices keep going up weekly and the quality has plummeted drastically! It now breaks down to $1 per treat and there's hardly anything on it unlike before. Our young puppy who needs something to chew on really likes these treats. They are small enough that the puppy seems to eat it all up. She really likes the chicken wrapped around the raw hide, but she still will finish up the whole stick of rawhide. These are a great size for giving a little treat. These have reliably been one of both of my dogs favorite treats. My older dog, still quite young at 18 months but with a fully formed jaw, goes through these in less than a minute but adores them. My younger dog who is a 7 month old Italian greyhound puppy, much smaller mouth than his whippet brother but just as enthusiastic of a chewer, takes about 10-15 minutes on these. The duck twists seem to be made of high quality ingredients as the older dog has a very sensitive stomach and these do not bother him in the slightest. This is probably our fourth bag in 4 months. We could go through them much faster but I’m careful to make them a special treat. Will keep buying. Would recommend! Consistent product which is hard to find among quality dog chews.V.

My new rescue dog absolutely goes crazy over these. He is a chewer and am trying to give him alternatives to cell phone charger cords, and other electronic types of things. My other dog had stopped liking this type of "bone." But, if the other dog gets one she has to have one, too. Both dogs are small (13 pounds) and they finish them fairly quickly. Obviously I wish it took longer. I am concerned because I have heard dogs can choke on rawhide, so I monitor them closely. I also throw them away when they get small.L.

My maltipoo is the pickiest eater and she absolutely adores these. Like, I think she has ever liked 1 other great and she got tired of it after just a few; ive bought hers tons of different types and flavors. She makes it very clear she likes the 3 flavored meaty kabob of the treat the best. These long lasting chews are a must have for any pup. There are a good amount in the bag and they take awhile for my pup to chew. They keep her occupied while I am working during the week. My dog seems to really enjoy the triple flavor and I like that they are made with high quality ingredients. These chews are also great for helping your pup with tartar and plague control. Pretty nutritionally bankrupt except for the meat rolled in the faux-rawhide. Rice is the first ingredient, and not even brown rice. Adult dogs eat these instantly, making them not at all cost-effective as a treat. Puppies with baby teeth, however, take a while to chew them up, giving them an intro to the fun of chewing REAL rawhide, etc.Boerne

My attempt at a play on words is that even though my dog is a medium-sized Chow-mix Rescue, the Soup Bones Mini-Size when broken in half is a perfect sized treat for when my precious pup is simply walking in the door or letting me clean mud off her paws, and any other task she should do without bribery! I feed her grain-free food but give her these treats. Yes, I am aware these have wheat in them. Some studies show that a little grain is good for dogs, even if they have sensitivities like mine. As long as I don’t give her too many to upset her skin condition, it’s not a problem. Plus, these are her ABSOLUTE FAVORITE treats! We call them “Treaty Bones” to differentiate from the other dental-cleaning “Treats” or jerky “Cookies” that she also gets. Sometimes, I don’t even have to say her name to call her inside; even if she’s super engrossed in something outside, all I have to say is “TREATY BONE!” from the back door or over the security camera speakers, and zzzooooommm!!! She’s at my feet like a good girl. These Soup Bones in any flavor or size make her happier than belly rubs! There have been some reviews with complaints about the number of bones, bag weight or volume, changes in size from the original and regular-sized Soup Bones, and I completely agree. Once the population was hooked, the Soup Bones Bakers started to cut the product’s quantity just a little. Long ago, I sent out a photo out on IG with the sudden change in size of the Soup Bones (before Minis were available) and asked Rachael Ray’s company if they assumed we wouldn’t notice the difference. Come on, OF COURSE WE NOTICED! These are for our-fur babies! While, I’m not always happy with the size, price, or weight of them (and “Long Lasting” in the description, Really?), my girl LOVES them, so I have to buy them. The Mini Soup Bone size makes it SO MUCH EASIER for my painfully arthritic hands to break them into smaller treats. We already go through several bags each month, cutting them or breaking them makes them last a little longer, gives her smaller doses of wheat/grains at a time, and is more convenient to monitor. I admit upfront that I'm over-tired of Ms. Ray and her EVOO fixation, as well as her vaunted pet line–she feels like the Dr. Oz of pop culinary pursuits. However, these were on discount, so I felt like I could give them a shot, in my hunt for reward items for my dog that would also hopefully get him out of my hair for at least a little while. My dog loved them, but despite being a wee specimen of a probably-miniature-schnoodle, he would gobble them down in usually well under 30 seconds, making them more of a high-calorie treat than a keep-'em-busy chew, by far. Calling them bones is also a misnomer, in that they don't really resemble them in anything more than a hypothetical, perhaps symbolic sense–they're not at all crunchy, and not even remotely as durable. If I'd known they're really more just doughy and squodgy, I might've thought twice about ordering them via drive-up pickup, sight effectively unseen. Still, my dog was at least very pleased by them, so it wasn't a total loss. I just don't think I'd get them again, particularly at full price. I imagine there are probably dogs/owners out there who this is perfect for; my four-legged menace and I just aren't them.Kiel

these treats are my chihuahua's FAVORITES – she prefers these over anything, including "people" food! she practically can't sit still when i break these out. they, however, are NOT long lasting – she can usually demolish it in a few minutes. they're soft enough to be broken in half for smaller portioning, which i did like, i just wish it was actually long lasting. even without that, though, this is still the best treat my dog has ever had.Sage
