My only gripe is that interior dimensions of the carrier should be posted. At the moment of writing, only the exterior dimensions are listed. The exterior pockets take away quite a bit of interior room, so it was a bit of a tight fit for our chi x dachshund mix. She is within the weight limit but long (14-15 inches long from base of neck to base of tail.) She can lay down and turn around, however. This is an amazingly high quality carrier. For now, I think this is the best we can do for our dog. Should we find something of the same quality but slightly bigger interior dimensions, we would buy it immediately, and use this carrier for our calm senior cat instead. Great buy, no regrets! Just know that if your dog is longer or at the edge of the weight limit, it may be a tight fit due to the pockets taking up a bit of space. I have yet to use it but anxious to find out how easy it will be to close the bag without having to struggle keeping it closed just to zipper it (like my current pet carrier). If you love/value your pet like family, consider investing in keeping them safe like family. Pets are at greater risk of being hurdled to their death or being severely injured if riding in the car on the drivers lap or loose in the vehicle. I purchased this for my Toy Aussie who will be coming to his forever home in April when he turns 8 weeks old. I love this Passenger carrier. I love the fact you can open it from the top, side, or front. I also love the pee pad feature. I also ordered a pack of pee pads that works with this carrier. It seems very well made and is also a very nice-looking carrier. My only concern is its size. I was surprised to see how small it is on the inside. I am hoping this will still work when my puppy grows into a full-size Toy Aussie. I wanted a soft crate with a top opening for my puppy that will be arriving in mid July. As a pet sitter, I've seen my clients crates and as good as they were, this one is that much better. It's good looking, has openings on three sides and the top plus has foldable shades on all openings. It comes with a sherpa inside mat that's not plush by any means but does the job. I called customer service when I ordered and they helped me pick the right size and told me that if I wasn't happy when I received it to let them know and they'd pick up the original and ship me the new size. Fabulous overall experience. Product was received in a timely manner, well packed, and the product itself is the best! There are too many junky soft-sided crates on the market. This one is sturdy, putting it together is a snap, and the pad inside can be replaced with all kinds of options when needed. We generally replace a pad on the inside about once a year just to keep them fresh. Our dogs actually like the blue ‘cooling’pads more than big fluffy pads anyway, but they are Shelties with a lot of hair. The crate itself is just superior and I have just ordered a second one for another pup arriving soon. Really, I can’t say enough good things about this crate. If your pup is a chewer you might consider a hard crate temporarily till they move out of the chewing phase but there isn’t much to chew on in these crates anyway as the canvas outer shell is very tight doesn’t give much leeway to chew. Fell apart roughly a year after purchase. The plastic pieces / connectors for the frame literally hardened and crumbled. The crate was never used to travel anywhere either. I did some research on the Variocage dog crate. I recall they crash tested it for all 3 types of crashes. It showed several of the straps breaking, and I thought that was a bad sign. But according to info from a video posted below, the straps are only designed to keep the crate oriented in the rear of your car prior to the collision, after that the straps can break, but the crate is designed to protect effectively. The angled part of the crate abutting the rear seat disperses the force of a rear end collision over the largest surface as opposed to a square regular crate which contacts the rear seat at the point of its corner. The corners of the crate where the dog doors are (I bought a 2 dog medium crate) are blunted- that is to conform to the crumple zone of the back of your car in case of rollover- thus creating its own crumple zone. Lastly the telescoping bars allow force to be absorbed, but still protect your dog inside. The Swedish designers have outdone themselves, The cost is around $1,100 but you get what you invest in. If your goal is to get one of the safest crates for your dog, Variocrate ranks among the top 3 in my research. I picked it over the other choices because it fit into the rear of my vehicle the best. I had very good assistance before purchasing regarding size — of my dogs and of my car–and ended up with a Large Double for two English Labradors. It's a good size for them and fits just perfectly in my Subaru Outback. I found the assembly not too difficult (the video on the website helps to supplement the paper instruction sheet). The dogs have plenty of room but the space is smaller than what they are used to, so I left it set up in the house for several days so they could practice going in and out. They both seem very comfortable riding in it, and I LOVE having them safely contained — especially when they are wet (and/or muddy) from swimming. I like the Variocage products. I have the Variogate and divider In our other car. However, positioning some components to get proper bolt alignments was very challenging on this assembly. One side flange of the rear lower panel was so far out of alignment that it had to be bent to fit. Other components required clamps to achieve alignment for bolts. If I had time to wait for replacement parts, I know that they would have been gladly provided. Since I was so far along with assembly, I decided to soldier on. I got this product for a cat carrier to go to vet appointments. First impression, definitely worth the price tag and super sturdy! We opened it and let both our cats explore and get comfortable in it. They fell in love and currently it’s still in my living room with two flaps up secured with the velcro. They have been fighting over whose “house” it is so I didn’t have the heart it to take it down since one compromised using the top net opening as a hammock! I love this carrier! We used to have a big crate carrier and even with a blanket it was scary for my cats cuz it was like a big cold cage. This carrier is soft and a lot smaller so it’s more comforting and I find they don’t cry or struggle in it so much. It has a shoulder strap and hand straps so it’s super easy to carry. I am extremely pleased with how handy the Mobile Dog Gear Week Away Bag is. Even though mine is a small size, it is plenty big for a larger dog and is actually the perfect size for our 4 month old Golden Retriever. The collapsible bowls are high quality and plenty large enough for a full meal for a large dog at 2 cups. The storage containers also hold 5 cups of food! The bag is lined and insulated and was able to keep our high value chicken training treats cool with a single ice pack. Very easy to carry with the short or long handle. Very well made. If I had one suggestion, it would be to include a water bottle. Luckily we had a good reusable bottle, but that would be a nice addition.
First of all, this bag is cute! The ID tag is bone-shaped and the fabric inside has a paw print pattern. Secondly, it's functional as well. The food bags easily held enough food for one week away with my large dog. The collapsible dishes are easy to clean. And the placemat came in handy. Even though mine is a small size, it is plenty big for a larger dog and is actually the perfect size for our 4 month old Golden Retriever. The collapsible bowls are high quality and plenty large enough for a full meal for a large dog at 2 cups. The storage containers also hold 5 cups of food! The bag is lined and insulated and was able to keep our high value chicken training treats cool with a single ice pack. Very easy to carry with the short or long handle. Very well made. If I had one suggestion, it would be to include a water bottle. Luckily we had a good reusable bottle, but that would be a nice addition.
First of all, this bag is cute! The ID tag is bone-shaped and the fabric inside has a paw print pattern. Secondly, it's functional as well. The food bags easily held enough food for one week away with my large dog. The collapsible dishes are easy to clean. And the placemat came in handy. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because it is a bit flimsy and won't hold up well over time. But if you only use it every once in a while- it will serve it's purpose well.Dani

I have three of these, two small and one medium, and have friends who bought this on my recommendation. My breeder/handler usually ONLY approves of hard-sided kennels for car travel but this, she approves of without hesitation. I have a small dog as do my friends and you can SAFELY USE THIS on the front seat if your doggie is small enough not to set off the seat belt. I would not use anything else and either would my doggie. HE HATES THE CRATES AND I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT FAST STOPS AND HIM HITTING THE HARD SIDE OF A NORMAL CRATE. Using this, if I have to stop fast, he is against a soft but safe material. I WOULD NEVER USE ANYTHING ELSE FOR MY DOGGIE!! WHAT A G-DSEND!!

Our new hound arrived 2 mo ago from a rescue group in Mobile, AL. We started him in a large hard-sided crate for ‘security’ but he quickly settled into sleeping and being confined when we left for errand running. He often investigated his sister’s large soft-sided crate and would settle there for a nap so he seemed ready for his own. So now we have two of these is our bedroom. Tess’ door flap has been left open for over a year – she prefers her crate to sharing the bed with us. Enzo’s still confined by the flap as he’s pretty mischievous. Each dog was sized up a size for their weight 42 & 52 lbs as they alternate between being curled up and stretched out when they sleep. The crates are easy to vacuum out toe dog hair and come with a nice fleece covered mat that is a washable cover over an encased foam. The case is also removable by zippered closure. So I like the idea of this kennel. Foldable great! That way it doesn’t take up so much space when the dog no longer needs it, or for ease of transportation. Hose off, a must. The first one came broken at the hinges, replaced quickly. However it is not an effective kennel for (some) dogs. My 25# girl broke out after only a few days of use. Tt was showing no issues the morning when she went in, but upon returning home the mesh window on the short side opposite the door was shredded. Unfortunate. This is not an issue covered by the warranty. At this price it should do better. Would I recommend it… well I won’t buy it again.Trayounger
We bought this crate around a year and a half ago, it has been barely used and when used it has simply set in the boot so no abuse to it… it is literally falling apart. The zip is broken and the side panel stitching has come apart. It was a waste of money. I was so pleased at the start but it just doesn’t hold any kind of use. For the money spent I’m frustrated. Our beagle has been my sole and soul support while caring for my Mom, in hospice at home with us. This carrier was nearly five times the cost of my last one BUT though I hemmed and hawed about the price, I have no regrets having used it only once. It's wonderful that it has a sturdy frame. I bought a large even though we have a 1 year old kitten. She weighs about 7 lbs and the carrier is quite big. But I love that she has the extra space. The straps are super sturdy! I highly recommend this for anyone who travels often with their pet. It feels like it will hold up for a very long time. The day after we returned from our trip, our kitty slept in the carrier all day. She's taken very well to the carrier. One note is that while we did not get push back from any airline staff, the carrier barely squeaked under the window seat and did not fit under an aisle seat. I blame this on the airline (United). The space under the aisle seat was significantly smaller than the other seats. We had no troubles with it fitting under Jet Blue seats.Kelsey
This review is coming from a crazy dog mom lol, and I've switched through over 3 bags in the past week to ensure the best of my little crazy Poochon. Purchased the famous Sherpa, the one from Wild One as well as another off brand and I have to say THIS one is the ONE. Teddy is decently sized and very long. He weighs exactly 16 pounds and has long legs as well. This bag is absolutely perfect. He loved it. It's very comfortable, the straps are comfortable and it's just quality material. I purchased the large size for him and he has enough space in there to roll around and even extra space to fit some of his favorite toys. I would give it 10 stars if I could. It's perfect.F.M.
I bought 3 of these carriers for my family’s move. Two 11-14lb cats and a 11lb chihuahua mix. The carriers were a great fit for each of the pets. Roomy enough to turn around in, small enough to fit under airplane seats (basic economy, Alaska). While I was acclimating the pets to the carriers, my two cats actually preferred to cuddle in one carrier (see picture). The handles are sturdy, which I like, but the rope design is quite bulky. The longer strap was at an odd length, at least for my height. It was difficult to find a comfortable way to carry my pet, for me and the pet, using the shoulder strap. I would have liked a longer strap. The construction of the carriers is great, the materials are nice and they held up well against three travel days. My chihuahua was able to chew a small hole in the mesh of the front panel, but she was very anxious on this trip and doing her best to escape the carrier. On that note, I really appreciated having the top panel opening as we were able to have it open after takeoff so my dog’s head could stick out and we could calm her. There is only one zipper on the front panel. I would have preferred two, as getting the cats in and zipped up before they squeezed out was quite the feat. The small pocket at the back of the carrier is a great feature. I was able to fit pet snacks and other items there for easy access at the airport. Overall, I do recommend these carriers. I have used cheaper carriers and their durability and security has always been lacking. On this trip, I felt reassured that my pets weren’t going to be able to escape, and that they were comfortable and secure. I’m happy I went with these.K.P.

I have a 6 lb Papillon and and a 12 lb. maltipoo. They fit comfortably in this car seat and love it. They can sit up and see outside and they still have room to lie down together when they want to nap. The only thing I would change is I would make the tether that is designed to attach to their collar or harness a little longer. If you use it with a leash then it is so long that the dogs would still be thrown all over the car in a crash and they can still jump out and get tangled up. If you connect the tether directly to their collar or harness, they're immobilized because it is too short. I tried to buy a short extension for it but Petco doesn't offer one. For now, my dogs are untethered in the seat while I try to find a solution. Fortunately, they like it enough that they don't try to hop out but that doesn't fix concerns about a crash. That is absolutely the only thing I would change about this product. I'm optimisitic that I'll find a solution to the short tether and then it will be perfect.IndyDogLover
I'm giving this a 4+; I would have given it a 5 except for the "U" bar & not enough padding. It did take 2 of us to assemble & attach in car. The car seat is nice & roomy. Appears to be well made. Wish the metal "U" bar actually went along entire interior border horizontally & vertically so it had more structure & the sides stood up better. Needs more padding in bottom & should be padding covering metal bar. So far our furry babies seem to be very happy with their new "rides!" The straps are adjustable, and held well, until I filled the bag full of really heavy items to test how much it could withstand. The pop up bowls are great, and so are the insulated containers. Putting this together – I would say that the plastic is a good construction, the clasps and screws are great, and the metal bars for the windows look to be a decent quality. They ship you extra clips and screws in case you have a problem. I personally don't like the wheels (on any crate), so I'll leave those off and the pet bowl might be okay if I was sending the dog via airplane. The Large size isn't very large in my opinion. A dog should be able to stand up, turn around and lay down. I think this crate is more like a 50 pound max than 75. My 10 week old Golden Female Retriever will likely outgrow this kennel in 6 months and be in that weight range. In a way I'd like to exchange it for a bigger one.RichH
