I love this gate, especially for the price! I had to cover an 8 foot area and its perfect. My little one is 1 1/2 and he likes to shake it. Each end is connected into studs so it wiggles but its secure. Both sides have a little slide door, its easy to slide but I prefer to step over. The latch kinda sticks. I also needed a dog door so I actually made one myself with this gate and it was really easy! I know all the dog door long gates are super expensive. I hope this helps!jennifer
We bought this gate for an 89inch entryway between our dining room and living room and it works perfectly. Installation was fast and easy and it has held up to all of my kids banging on it and shaking it and whatever it is that kids typically do. the metal bracket screwed into the gate at the bottom is a little bent from their activity but I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, bent, but still works perfectly. We don't have any problems opening it and closing it, it might be a little tricky when I am in a hurry but still only takes a few seconds. My 3 1/2 years old did open it once unassisted but he hasn't tried it since, I'd imagine its pretty tricky for most kids especially for the ones younger than 3. We bought this for our 1 year old and I wished I had bought it sooner!! I love that it condenses and swings open both directions, can be opened from either end, and that it would be very easy to put away for when guests come over if need be. We have two fairly small dogs and this gate is amazing for containing them. The opening between our family room and our living room is 70" and this gate spans the opening perfectly. I especially like that it is free-standing and not attached to a wall. Because it has substantial plastic tabs that "catch" between the two walls of the opening, the dogs aren't able to push it open or push it over. Since it moves easily, they are able to insert noses between the gate and the wall it is pressing against and squeeze through that way. We have solved that with a jug of kitty litter against the gate. Not really attractive, but effective. It is very easy to move out of the way and put back in place, so I can get in and out of different rooms. It is short enough for our cats to jump over (20") and my husband easily steps over it (he's pretty tall). Our dogs are a Shiatsu who is fairly small and a small standard poodle. Neither of them has attempted to jump over the gate (they aren't jumpers). Larger dogs or those who are jumpers might be able to jump over. Our son has a very large standard poodle and she is quite able to get over the gate when she visits, so this might not be perfect for a larger dog. This is a quality gate and as another reviewer mentioned, I should have bought this months ago. The gate opens smoothly in both directions, and you can easily fold sections together to fit a smaller opening. I'm using it to help my youngest dog (12 lb puppy) consistently potty outside by creating a small area near their dog door. I moved my chair and computer in that area to keep an eye on things — and she can't sneak off to potty inside. So far so good! I've been looking for a while to find a gate that would fit my space. I have a 66in opening. They all look great then you read the specs. 4 panels that are 28in wide. Well that wont work. I bought this gate to confine my dog in the kitchen which has a large open doorway. It fit well into the space and looked nice. Installation was pretty easy although I had to screw into drywall so if I were keeping the gate I would need to purchase anchors for the screws to ensure stability. For the most part this gate was just what I expected and I was initially happy with my purchase although the door was sometimes difficult to open with one hand. Unfortunately I have an incredibly agile dog and within a day of the gate being up she figured out that she could easily jump right over it. Seems to be well made and easy to use. But if you stretch it out straight across and you have a wooden floor you will need to put something such as a rubber strip to grip it down. This gate is a nightmare to fit tightly enough to hold up to any leaning on it from curious children. Pushing down hard enough to get it in place knocks it out of place during install. The latch to open it sticks, and if I pull too hard I disengage it entirely instead of it remaining in the "remember my preferred width" position. It feels so bendy I worry pushing in hard enough will damage it. It is absolutely not functional as a gate for a determined, walking child. Its one advantage is it's low enough to easily step over and so we barely have to take it out thank goodness, but this would not be an advantage if we needed a proper barrier for a child older than maybe 2? Luckily we just need a gentle reminder they're not supposed to enter or leave that room without us in tow. I’m not sure what product the negative reviews are for (shipping – which shouldn’t even be a review of the product-duh?, flimsy, walls are uneven- seriously?) because it is not this product. I love it! It is super easy to open and close. We installed it so that it is hinged. We are able to open it and swing it up against the wall going up the stairway if we choose to leave it open. I love this gate because it's perfect for containing little dogs (mine is 15 lbs.) and it's easy for me to step over. This is the fourth one I've ordered. A little pricey for the quality, altho it does seem to do the job and is made of all metal so it can be used outside, so four stars just for price point. Not too hard to assemble and set up, nice and light weight, I did have path way posts that weren’t exactly set parallel, so the gate did work well to be able to offset the closing and locking mechanism. I’m using it to keep two medium-large dogs on the porch. It seems to work well for that. The lock mechanism is a little wonky and cumbersome, but I have it so all I have to do it raise the gate a little and it sets right in the top and bottom holes and stays closed. I wouldn’t use it to keep a curious toddler in one place, especially at the top of the stairs or near the opening to a pool because of that cumbersome lock mechanism, but that’s my opinion. All in all, a decent gate that works sufficiently for what I had intended to use it for.Shelly
I really like the gate . Looks good. I bought them for my deck to keep my Dachshund in. Work good. Should last awhile. Not so easy to open and close. Nice lightweight gate for small dogs. I like that it is shorter than my last gate so it’s easier to step over. When assembling the gate there or no holes in the wood pre-drilled for the feet so you do have to drill the screw into the wood manually which is easy to do because it is a soft material. Love this gate! Looks good, assembles easily, and fits nicely into our uneven doorway. Low enough to easily step-over but high enough to contain a small or medium size dog unless he/she is a jumper. Only free-standing gate I could find with feet that can be placed wherever you want them depending on how much you want it to overlap your walls. Also, feet are shorter than other gates I looked at, making them less of a tripping hazard. The only downside is, it's wood. My dog is an obsessive chewer. Took him about 8 months but he eventually pretty much demolished the feet. We solved that problem by having metal feet made.
This little gate has turned out to be the perfect solution for us and our little Westie. As he aged, we decided to limit his access to the entire house, and we were leaning an old wooden baby gate against the doorway. Each time we passed through, we had to move the gate and more it back and it was banging up the wall, not to mention extremely annoying to do so. We bought 2. They fit where we need them. They keep the dog away from the litter boxes so far. We do not care for the small doors in the gates, though. They swing around when you open and close the main gate. If you have the small door opened in one direction then they hit your shins. In the other direction, they hit the wall or door frame where they are located. So we just removed the little doors altogether (instructions below). Also, we attached a couple of bungee cords to the main gate so that it swings shut on its own since the kids always forget to shut it. OK, maybe I forget sometimes too. Anyway, we're happy now. Our medium/large dog can only stick her head through the small door. My 5-yr-old nephew informed me that his head also fits through the small door. Hopefully the gates just last and don't break down as another reviewer reported…. For anyone who wants to just remove the little doors: Lift the little door up as high as possible on the main gate frame. Use a pair of very thin, precision needle-nosed pliers (I got mine in the jewelry section of a craft store) to reach in and grab the spring-loaded bar as high as possible and pull it down as much as possible. This will not be enough to pop the bar out, though, so you will need to then pull the gate toward you in order to create tension on the bar so it doesn't pop back up. Then remove the pliers and use them to grab the bar at the top again. This time, when you pull down, the bar should pop out from the frame of the main gate and you can then remove the little door. Very easy to install! Works great. We did not screw into the wall, just used the pressure part and it works perfectly. We can open the large gate and we go through with no problems and we leave the smaller pet gate open. We have 2 cats and a brittany spaniel. We needed the gate to keep our brittany spaniel out of the kitchen, but still allow our cats through the gate and this works perfect for that. Our brittany spaniel some how still managed to squeeze through the little pet door so we just tied a tight ribbon in the middle of the small pet door from top to bottom so she can no longer squeeze through yet our other pets can fit through. So keep in mind if you have a medium sized dog like our brittany spaniel they may still be able to squeeze through the small pet door, just tie a ribbon right in the center of the small pet door from the center top to center bottom like we did and they won't be able to.This pet gate works great, wish we had found it sooner!soapnmomof2
Came apart after 2 weeks of use. Cheaply made, looks like small amount of epoxy holding it together when it should have been soldered. First picture is where joint came apart and second one is another joint with a small dot holding it together. Not going to hold up long term. Very disappointed in this brand, I have some of their other gates and they were very well made.Jaime

Pictures are deceiving!! I thought the small pet gate would look like the one pictured, but I should have paid better attention to the detailed description where it states that it is 8"x8". Easy assembly right out of the box – 3 pieces hardware. It's an intuitive assembly if you wrap your head around the fact that "installation" against the wall(s) is an integral part of the final assembly. Two tabs located at the bottom leading edge of the gate let you "set" the gate to open in either direction or in only one direction. For the price the pet gate was alright however, the description mentions that the gate will fit openings up to 39 inches and while it might possibly fit the opening, it is quite loose and could be knocked down. It would require firing strips with a 39 inch doorway. The construction of the pet gate is also very light and not nearly as hardy as one previously purchased.Johnr314
Both my roommate and I have medium/large dogs and I also have a cat. We needed a way to keep the dogs from getting the cat food and litter, while also giving everyone access to different parts of the house. I put this gate up in my walk-in closet (where I keep my cat's things) and it works perfectly! I had to tie up the small cat door so that it doesn't accidentally close and leave my cat without access to her box, but that wasn't a problem to me. Also, my cat isn't afraid to go through the door which was another concern of mine, but no issues! Love these gates! I ordered these to keep our 2 tiny maltese from going into the formal living room, so I needed something that looked… well… kinda nice and somewhat formal. I did not want to put any screws into the wall. These gates are functional, pretty, and super easy for us hoomans to climb over, while keeping the fur kids off the pristine carpet. And for the one reviewer on here who said their tiny puppers could easily push the gate aside (pretty sure they even posted a video)…. READ / FOLLOW the INSTRUCTIONS! You're supposed to put the nubs on the ends on the side of the wall that puppers is in so they can't push it out of the way. Works perfectly here! This is a really nice looking, easy to assemble and sturdy gate. We purchased it to keep a small, well behaved dog out of a section of the house. It's low enough that we can walk over it, but if we wanted to slide it open/closed, it's easy enough since it's well made for this option. That being said, it's not very tall and not bolted into the wall, so if a more rambunctious puppy really wanted to push through or jump over it, he could. I got the large gate to use for a ferret. I have 4 dogs and 2 cats as well. It works great for its intended purpose. I put it together, by myself, in about 5 minutes. It is very sturdy. The sides do not fold in, like described they do. They are secured by a bolt. You would have to remove the bolt each time you wanted to fold it in. Once put together it is one solid piece. You can take bolts out and adjust the length. This is a great gate. If you have a animal that jumps a lot they can jump over. Only my cats jump the gate. My animals do not try to shove the gate like several have said in their review. It is a bit heavy and very sturdy. It is not able to be pushed over. I will be ordering more to place at the other end of my hallway

We have two fairly small dogs and this gate is amazing for containing them. The opening between our family room and our living room is 70" and this gate spans the opening perfectly. I especially like that it is free-standing and not attached to a wall. Because it has substantial plastic tabs that "catch" between the two walls of the opening, the dogs aren't able to push it open or push it over. Since it moves easily, they are able to insert noses between the gate and the wall it is pressing against and squeeze through that way. We have solved that with a jug of kitty litter against the gate. Not really attractive, but effective. It is very easy to move out of the way and put back in place, so I can get in and out of different rooms. It is short enough for our cats to jump over (20") and my husband easily steps over it (he's pretty tall). Our dogs are a Shiatsu who is fairly small and a small standard poodle. Neither of them has attempted to jump over the gate (they aren't jumpers). Larger dogs or those who are jumpers might be able to jump over. Our son has a very large standard poodle and she is quite able to get over the gate when she visits, so this might not be perfect for a larger dog. This gate works great. I needed something big enough for a 50-62 in opening, but also strong enough that my dogs cant push it aside so easily. We used this to create a barrier around the front door. It?s perfect. You can lock each corner with a small dial, keeping it in whatever shape you like. The door opens very easily, and the entire gate is nice and sturdy. We used the brackets to attach the ends to the wall. Love it!Corinne
We recieved this gate on June the 21st and it was broken in less than a month. The Chihuahua managed to figure out how to unlock mini pet door so we locked it. Once she figured out is was locked she just broke the bars off the gate. Not heavy duty at all very very disappointed.beetradingpost

This is a good quality gate. I run childcare centers, so I have used a lot of differnt gates. This one is good. I've seen a couple negative reviews complaning that the gate is "bent" or "deformed". This is most likely not the case. The gate is supposed to be "deformed" slightly so that it stays in place when the compression pads are tightened. If it was not, then the gate would not stay put.J
It works for the purpose of keeping our dog away from the door when the doorbell rings, but the overall design of the actual gate could be improved. It is a bit flimsy because of the extra wide length. It causes it to not open, close and latch with ease. Sometimes you have to pull the release button and pull the gate a couple times before it opens with ease. When closing it it sometimes don t actually latch and close as intended and you have to jiggle it some to secure the the door to shut and latch itself. The open and stay back feature of this gate is an added Benefit and that part works great. It took us quite awhile to get the screwed down to the best position to get the door to line up and close. I give this gate an OK rating.Nelson
