I bought this because my dog is having issues with red, dry, itchy eyes this winter with the dry air. My basset hound seems to have irritated eyes all his life. The vet removed some foreign growth in his right eye but the eye still seems to have more discharge than the left eye. I have been using this product for a week now and it seems to help my dog. His eyes seem to look less watery. He doesn't like for me to put anything near his eyes but the cotton balls are better tolerated than having to put eye drops (he hates this the most) or ointment. I like it that it is not steroid so I don't worry about him developing some other issues later due to the steroid.
I was looking for an eye wash that was going to be gentle on my Westies eyes. When I put a few drops in her eyes , she reacted in such a way that caused ME to try in my own eye. Our naturopathic vet diagnosed our 4-year-old German Shepherd with blocked tear ducts. She recommended I brew green tea and rinse his eyes with that using cotton balls. After 2 months there was no change using the tea rinse, so I found this product. It really did a great job of loosening up the thick mucous in both eyes with the first treatment. It smelled stronger than I expected; similar to an alcohol smell (maybe it was the Witch Hazel), but the reviews online made me comfortable using it; and it didn't cause him any discomfort. As my dog has only been on Angel Eyes for less than 3 weeks it is hard for me, at this time, to review this product. I have not seen a difference yet, but I use it daily and expect it may take up to a month or more before I see results. For those of you scratching your head wondering why Angel Eyes is no longer working, the news isn't good. I have a Pomapoo and a Bichon and the original wipes worked like a miracle and my four-legged babies had clean eyes always. Then the change happened. The miracle ingredient was removed about three years ago. I have tried many products and nothing works as well for my dogs. I'm glad that some of you still find some various forms of the product to your standards. Currently I use a fragrance free lotion, careful to put just a thin coating on the stain, rubbing it in gently to soften the hard crusty eye secretions and as it softens, gently use a small pet brush or fingers depending what works best for you and your pet. I also make a paste out baking soda and use a childs toothbrush and wash they stains, careful to keep it out of their eyes. Just my two cents. Use at your own discretion. I have been using this on My Maltese for many years, used to have antibiotic in it which I believed was the active ingredient that was working, and you had to get it from the U.S. Due to U.K. laws on this without prescription. The new version easily available in he U.K. is now just as affective and you can see it start to dry up the runny eyes in about 5 days of starting it. Keep using it until has totally dried the eyes and you don't need to keep using it. one level mustard spoon size amount on there dinner or on the tongue. I have been told pink staining is a fungal infection that can spread from eye to the mouth causing the whole face to be pink or black stained. The product is easy to use and doesn't seem to cause any discomfort in any way to my 2 dogs eyes. Seems to break up the goo "slightly" when put on cotton and gently used to clean their eyes. This product doe NOT "whiten" the eye area at all! I was hoping it would whiten as my white dog has VERY stained tear duct areas and I haven't found anything that really works! I haven't really tried too many cleaners because I do NOT want to cause discomfort or irritation to their eyes being such a very sensitive area to be cleaned. I guess this cleaner would be "ok" for just wiping their eyes but honestly, I don't think it really "cleans or brightens" at all!triciaub13

I didn't use this on a dog but I did use this on my cats. It helped clear away any crust and eye boogers they had. It was very gentle on they eyes and no irritation occurred. My indoor only cat has had some discharge around her eyes. Decided to try the Cliny Eye Cleaner. I used a cotton ball and wiped her eyes really good with the cleaner. She didn't seem to mind it at all so it must not have burned or irritated her. The lotion feels really smooth and wipes on easily. With water as part of the composition I don't think there should be any problem with it. To be fair about this review, this is the first time I have used this product with no problem. Our dog seems to like the way it feels in his eyes. He is totally blind but he doesn't try to rub it out, as with other drops that veterinarians have prescribed in the past. In fact at morning and night both, he seems to sense when it is time for us to put in his drops. He starts barking at us when it's time and bumps his way into the kitchen, where we usually apply them. If he doesn't need to go outside to pee or whatever, then he simply makes his way peacefully back to his pallet. We put this product in about five minutes after we put in an antibiotic drop. My dog went a few days with excessive "goop" from his eyes. Since my dog hasn't had a history with this, and doesn't seem to have seasonal allergies, the vet suggested an antimicrobial for the eye irritation and I went with this ophthalmic gel based on the luck I've had with other Vetericyn products in the past. I started with a tiny drop on the corner of my dog's eye to be sure he wouldn't have any reaction to it. Later that day, I went ahead and applied a few drops in each of his eyes. I applied the gel two times a day for three days in a row and by the fourth day his eyes had stopped having discharge. It is almost like my dog knew the drops would make him feel better as he kept his head very still when I applied the gel to his eyes. The shape of the dispenser where you squeeze the product out of makes it very easy to apply the gel to their eyes. While it is a "gel," it comes out of the dispenser fairly quickly which I find allows for an accurate application. The gel-like substance is great to confirm that you got the gel where you want it to go. Went out one morning and caught a glimpse of what looked like a little scratch on my horses eye. Upon inspection the eye itself was untouched but the eyelid was cut about an inch long from the back corner towards the front. I cleaned it and figured I would just leave it alone. The next morning it was itchy and irritating her and REALLY swollen. I cleaned her up, applied the Vetericyn ophthalmolic gel, and put a patch over her eye to keep her from rubbing it and repeated this 4 times that day and removed the patch that evening to let it air. By the next morning all the swelling had completely subsided and it was no longer irritating her! This product helped me when my dog had an eye wart. The vet said it did not need to be removed until it got to the point that he was scratching at it or it started to affect his vision. During the time of it growing, it started to scab and bleed at times which made me get this product. The anti microbial wash helped keep bacteria out of his eye wart and helped keep infection away. My 11 year old dog's eyes have become "sunken", the lid edges roll in and the lashes make his eyes uncomfortable. After treating an initial infection, I found that a tiny dab of petroleum jelly would help for about 24 hours. That was hard to get into his eye; I was afraid of hurting him with my little tool. My vet recommended Optixcare Ophthalmic Plus. It is a watery gel that I can drip into the eye, much safer to use. It doesn't give as good initial protection, but seems to be effective for about 30 hours. When he gets goopy eyes, I clean them and give him a dose. I have a 2 yr. old Maltese dog. This product is helpful, but you need to let it stay on for a few minutes before you rinse it off, and I don't have the patients. However, it does help with the tear stains. At least the stains aren't unsightly. I could/should do better and leave it on to work better.4petmom

I bought this because my dog is having issues with red, dry, itchy eyes this winter with the dry air. I know it isn't an infection because we went down that road already and I needed a product to help flush out and lubricate his eyes. This seems to do the trick. I use an eue dropper (doesn't come with product) to put ~2 drops in each eye one to two times a day. Since starting this his eyes have been less red, less weird eye boogers, and leas pawing.
