I groom and show my own sheepdogs and wish I'd gotten one of these dryers years ago. I chose this one, in particular, because I live in the desert with little to no humidity that causes a lot of static in the coats and this ion dryer helps with that. I'm happy with my choice and found it to be competitively priced to comparable units.Darlene C.
As a professional groomer of 36 years I have used many finish dryers. This is by far my favorite but needs major revamping.The dryer part itself is excellent, no changes needed. The problems are with the base, adjustments and wheels. I suggest your R/D department go to an actual quality groom shop and watch the dryer being used. First, the wheels should NOT have locks on them. When drying, a groomer has no hands free to move a dryer. There is a brush in one hand and some part of a dog in the other. The dryer is moved as we dry by our feet, shoulders, hips or whatever body part works at the time! If the locks are in the unlocked position and we bump them with our foot, they lock. Then we have to stop drying and unlock them. NO TIME FOR THAT! We need it to ROLL to the position we need and stay there until we move it again, with our feet, body or one hand. Casters that wouldn't pack full of hair would be great too. I always have to purchase a set of non-locking wheels to replace the ones on your dryer. Not cool. Secondly, the small adjustment knob tends to strip out and not stay locked in position, then when the velocity is turned up high the dryer spins like a top! The top knob is totally unnecessary anyway. Doesn't need to even be there. Pro groomers do not use that to reposition the dryer. As I said before, we move the ENTIRE DRYER from the wheels, so just make that a permanent solid joint instead of adjustable. I always have to secure that area with vet wrap to keep the thing from rotating because the screw strips out and won't hold it in place. Not cool again. Thirdly, the plastic ring and handle for the up/down adjustment tends to break, not allowing for the proper height (yes, we do need that adjustment!) and allowing the dryer to spin rapidly at higher velocity. Lose all the junk plastic and use stronger materials that won't break. Same goes for the upper handles that control dryer tilt. They break easily if the dryer falls over. It seems to me that the design of this dryer is geared toward a pet owner that might use it occasionally for a pet or two at home, not for a busy pro needing to do many dogs quickly. That said, the dryer itself is wonderful. I would also suggest you purchase an Aeolus wall mount dryer and redesign this dryer to fit a very similar wall mount. You have the best professional dryer. They have a terrible dryer but a perfect wall mount. If the two could be combined you would have the best dryer in the grooming business.Connie
