Good sturdy dog ladder. However, this dog ladder is made for a duck boat or Jon boat. I made a bracket to mount it to a pontoon boat. Lots of lake enthusiasts were interested in mounting it to their pontoon boat as well. Someone needs to tell the company who makes the dog ladder to make the bracket to mount it to a pontoon boat and try would sell a lot more and help a lot of people enjoy the lake with their pets. Overall, a good idea and well built. However, to get it to work well on our pontoon it required HEAVY modification. It wouldn�t fit on our ladder out of the box. And honestly, with lots of people and dogs swimming it is a huge PITA to put it on and take it off constantly. I ended up permanently installing it over the left pontoon while the human ladder remains over the right pontoon. I probably spent almost as much on additional aluminum and stainless hardware to mount it as I did on the platform itself. But ultimately, my 2 dogs can use it to get out of the water and onto the pontoon on their own while people can get out on the other ladder. I�m VERY happy with where I�m at now. This is not Rogers' fault at all. The ramp showed up quickly and was a decent deal. The main issues are with the product itself. One of the bottom legs is welded on the wrong way so the holes to clip the legs in to are sideways. Also the picture shows straight poles on the bottom that you can extend. Well ours showed up and they are hooked legs not straight ones. Overall the product still works after I cut the hooks off, but the manufacturing and quality control of the product is garbage. This is an excellent set of pet stairs. I liked the information envelope included with the 'Hello' cards…so nice! It had a disclaimer regarding a non-hazardous odor…we did not notice any odor at all straight out of the packaging. The foam blocks are nice and firm, my 15 lb Boston terrier mix has no issues using them. I like the neutral color as well. Material seems to be of a decent quality. It was easy to put together as well, just stack the top foam block onto the bottom one, pull the cover material over it and zip. We love these pet steps. I have two small dogs: a 10 lb chihuahua mix, and a 16 lb silky terrier with short legs. Both of my dogs were able to use these pet steps the very first day we got them. We trained them by putting little bits of cheese on each step, and a piece at the top. We tried these steps out with my couch, and on my bed, which my terrier struggles jumping up on, especially as she ages. They are a nice neutral gray color which worked well in both my bedroom and my living room. They are soft, plush, and very lightweight, so it was easy to move from one place to the other. Included in the box, was a note saying it might have a little bit of a smell from the newly manufactured foam. I smelled it a little bit when opening the box, but didn't even notice it again after the stairs were assembled. By the way, the assembly is just putting one of the cushions inside a zippered section. The rest of it was already inside. Very easy. It even included a nice note from the company, and three free blank greeting cards as a thank you for buying their product. We've had plastic pet stairs in the past, but had trouble with the legs falling off, making it unsafe for our dogs to use. We ended up getting rid of those. I bought this for my Sailboat so my guests could get on and off the bow of the boat when I beach it, and back on which is tricky due to the height. without something to hold the ladder out away from the hull….the ladder swings inward and makes it a little difficult to get on the boat…BUT it would be a lot more difficult to get on the boat without this. As others have noted, the ladder swings under the boat making it almost impossible to climb. I have a 20' sailboat. I tried attaching the ladder to every cleat on the boat – transom, bow, gunnels – all to no avail. I was only able to climb back onto the boat with the help of someone on board hauling me up. My partner was not so lucky. He ended up bloodying himself on a cleat trying to get back on board. When we used it there was a slight swell from powerboats in the area and a bit of wind. It was actually frightening trying to get back in the boat in these conditions. I've swam off boats many times in far choppier situations and never had so much trouble. Awful design. The design of my boat makes has made is impossible to find a portable boarding ladder so I was very hopeful of this one.Nancy

It's made of really solid and durable stainless steel (not like a lot of them out there). The welds are nice and solid and the gimbal pin is well placed as well.
