Best Dog Bed For Standard Poodle (Jan 2023 Update)

This is a well made dog bed. Easy to put together, very comfortable for my dog, stays cleaner than other dog beds, easy to remove and wash. I have a labrador retriever and initially got the large size, but exchanged it for the jumbo. The large size was a good size, but upon watching him sleep, i found out he likes to stretch out. Yes the jumbo size is very large and requires a lot of space in your room, but it is worth it to see him stretch out or curled up in his very comfy bed. A little pricey but he is worth it. I tried other beds and they are of inferior quality and won't last long. I highly recommend it. For your reference my dog is about 73 Lbs and measured 40 inches when laying down and lightly curled. Two dogs could fit in the jumbo bed if they decide to curl and lay next to each other. But not for stretching in a hot summer evening.Love Labradors 2

My 13 year old Lab was going for spirited 2 mile walks 4 months ago but alas, age it seems has finally caught up with my dearest and closest friend. His hips and knees have been noticeably troubling him, especially in the morning after a long sleep. He’s always had doggy beds but now more than ever I want him to be as comfortable as possible. This bed is FANTASTIC and my good boy loves it! He is 74 lbs but tall and lanky. The large measurements were too small for him, if you look in the picture the golden retriever in the large has zero room to stretch out. I am so glad I went with the XL. My sweet boy can lounge and stretch and get as comfy as his heart desires. I ordered the brown color but have a small blanket draped over it in the image. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase, the side pillows are icing on the cake, my boy is in high heaven!Babyduck

My two dogs, who are very particular about laying on blankets and pillows, both gravitated to this bed as soon as I put it out for them. They love the combination of the orthopedic bed with the soft and fuzzy plush covering on it and will stay there for hours, when they used to only curl up on the couch with a blanket with a human. Their immediate satisfaction with the bed was a very pleasant surprise and I cannot stress enough how picky my dogs are about where/what they lay on and how much they love this bed. I ordered this after my 60lb Golden girl refused to leave my sister’s Golden’s bed over the holidays. My sister told me where she got it and I ordered my girl one immediately! It is a nice thick bed with a very soft cover. I got the beige/cream color, which has a little bit more yellow tinge to it than I’d like, but it still matches our home decor & her hair color the best out of the options. I got the Jumbo size which gives her plenty of room to sprawl out when she wants. I love that it has a little height on the sides for when she wants her head elevated. I haven’t needed to wash it, but the cover does come off, so I know it’s an option (but can’t attest to how well it holds up to a wash).CSally9

One of my great danes is 7 1/2. He threw out his poor old back a day before I ordered this bed it was absolutely awful to see him hurt so bad. It was his old bed. I ordered this after his vet appointment and I was relieved to see big barker shipped it the same day, the Friday before memorial day. Memorial weekend passed and we got it on Tuesday. I also want to mention that I appreciate a product made in the US, I buy what I can American made. He laid on it for a few days and then quit and then I realized it was because it didn't smell like his stinky old blankets that he enjoys so much, so after I put his favorite smelly blanket on the bed he took to it immediately. We got the XL with 1 side that has a pillow. He hasn't seemed to care about the pillow much so he avoids it. Only one dane can fit on the bed but he is a big beefy euro dane. I absolutely plan on ordering again for our 2nd great dane but getting the flat XL version, maybe swapping them out for the boys. Reggie my injured dane was hand raised by me with love, he was a rescue that I fostered at 2 weeks and we fell in love with him so we were fortunate to be able to adopt him. I used to kangaroo him because he was so small and ill he couldnt retain his own body temp. So safe to say I love my dogs like they're my own children. Very glad I decided to give it a shot. It was expensive but so is an emergency vet appointment with a hurt back. Well worth the money if it makes his final years earthside comfortable.Jessi

It's been 3 years since I first experienced a Big Barker that was generously donated to a special needs dog at the rescue where I work in Missouri. 18 mo. later we bought one for our 80# Akita/Shepherd Knarly after I saw how that donated bed stood up to the wear and tear of daily shelter use. That was 18 mo ago. We lost him in February to what looked like cancer, but it was a fast end to a big life full of adventure. He loved this thing. I love this thing. It kept me from waking up every 40 minutes when he got uncomfortable crammed onto our queen sized memory foam mattress (we're not small people either) and hopped stiffly down to the carpet, then got back up with us a little while later. I miss the big, comfortable sigh he'd give us every night once his chin hit the pillow. And he slept HARD, with his bad leg hanging off the side. I miss our dog. The bed's still going strong under our 60# pit mix, though. He likes to hang his rear end off, elbows on the bed, and stretch his back legs out with his toes all spread out, then belly crawl the rest of the way onto it, draped over the middle of it. Pitties are weird. At least mine's weird and comfy! I think, nostalgia aside, what's impressed me the most is that there's NO WEAR to this bed, the foam *or* the cover. Other than the seasonal shedding fur right now, it looks like it did the day I took it out of the box. I can't find human products that stand up to the beating our dogs give things, so I feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of this bed already. Knowing it's designed for 10 years of use just means I've invested in all of my dogs' health for a good while longer. I'm here today getting a Lg Sleek for our Rottie mix's crate. I’ve been buying beds for my big old man for a long time. He’s about 100lbs, and he’s 14 years old. Now he’s hurt and doesn’t walk well, so he spends the majority of his time in bed, and it’s even more important to have a good bed. To get a halfway decent bed, it’s usually about $150+, and I’m still disappointed. The memory foam is thin or goes flat. Some beds actually have thick foam, but they’re not memory foam, and they’re too dense and firm. The last bed I bought said that it was 5” thick with dual foam. It seemed nice enough when I sat on it, but exactly a year later, when I laid on it for an hour, my joints were all killing me. I felt almost like I had been lying on the floor. Every review said that this was hands down the best bed. I was really looking for something more in my budget, but I couldn’t find anything even half as good as this one, and I had just paid $180 for the other one, and had to replace it after a year! If I had bought this one a year ago, my pup would be happier, and I wouldn’t be buying another, so it’s a sound investment. I didn’t really have the money for it right now, and didn’t want my dog to have to wait for a new bed, but then I read that they offer Affirm, which acts like a payment plan! So I could have the bed now! I was sold. OMG, I’m so glad I bought it. This bed says it’s 7” thick. The old bed said 5”, but the Big Barker is at least twice as thick as the old one! I don’t know if the Big Barker measurements are modest, or if the other bed’s were inflated, or if that’s how flat it went over the year or what, but the Big Barker immediately exceeded my expectations. It’s super comfy – the right amount of support and squish. My dog is happy. It’s the best quality bed I’ve ever bought. If you’re thinking about it, just do it. This thing is going to last. Two things I would change, though. One, I wish the covers were available in green. My dog has become incontinent, so I wish that the outside cover was waterproof. I know they sell a waterproof membrane for the inside, which is good. I wish there was an option for a super tough, durable, waterproof cover. One of the beds I had before had that, and rather than having to constantly remove the cover, wash, and replace it, I could leave the whole cover on, and soap/hose it down really quick. It was also chew resistant (not a problem in my house, but sure kills two birds with one stone). Anyway, it’s fine, I wrapped the bed including the cover in a 6-sided waterproof encasement, and I have multiple waterproof blankets, so I layer one of those on the bed, and then put down a couple of washable waterproof pads too, so it’s protected. As such, his photos don’t show off the bed as well as they could.blackviolet

We returned the faulty one and the rest available were the same. We could not find the bes that actually had the one piece foam. Are the beds supposed to have the solid orthopedic foam or just pieces of what appears to be cut up foam? Beware of when you buy this that you get the correct one.Annette

Positives: 1. It’s big enough for my largest dog (Rhodesian Ridgeback/Great Dane mix) 2. It’s very soft on the inside (bottom lining) 3. My cat approves Negatives: 1. It gets dirty quickly and is too cumbersome to throw in the washing machine as suggested). 2. Although it is soft, it loses any fluffiness or support after a few uses. It’s like having a soft blanket under you (it’s a barrier from the tile, but you still are feeling the hard surface of the tile). 3. The sides of the bolster are a canvas like material. Not soft or inviting for my dogs who like to nestle into the sides.MGRM

This is my 2nd Majestic Pet bagel bed. I have 3 toy breeds and a oversized recliner so the 40" bagel bed has room to sit next to me. There is plenty of room for all 3 the sleep in the 40". It is super soft, cuddly and they get all snuggled in and sleep for the night. My 1st bed was the velour all over, and the new one is canvas with the sherpa bottom. I knew it was time for a new bed because they were choosing different beds that were softer. The old bed is more than 3 years old and doesn't stay fluffed up very long any more. When put the new bed next to me they got excited and jumped in. I can't say enough good things about the Majestic bagel beds. Most beds I have bought usually go flat with in 6 months to a year. Magestic stays full and cuddly for a couple of years. I am very happy and so are my babies. They will have sweet dreams in their new soft bed for awhile. I love that Magestic has some new styles of bed now, I will be looking into them for thoopse times that the babies want alone time for naps.hrlydva

Looks as described and so far is working out. I appreciate the padding on the underside of this bed (and I’m sure my little guy does as well), although it is never on anything harder than a plush carpet. Fabric is softer than anticipated, which is a plus! I would say that the only gripe I have at the moment is a minimal one: until my little guy “breaks it in,” it is fairly lopsided. He does favor one end over the other but no doubt it’ll flatten, in a good way, soon. Bottom line: We recommend this bed!Kellie

I like the construction of the bed itself, but the fabric cover is not durable. It's a very thin material and what I thought was cross-stitching throughout the fabric is actually a pattern of holes. My dog is a nester and she will easily destroy this cover. I sewed brown denim to the top and inside of the cover to help it hopefully last for at least a year.MalvernDee

I bought 2 of these beds and put one in bedroom and one in great room. My senior girl loves this bed. She has arthritis in her hind leg and I’ve noticed she doesn’t limp as much after sleeping on it. You can wash the outside of the bed fan but the inside is a paper bag filled with chopped up foam that can't be washed. i dont about everyione but I'll bet there goes outside and gets stinky. why would you sell a bed without a serviceable liner in it. I am thinking about throwing the inside bag away and buying another bed from a dufferent company that i can put inside that can be washed. The problem is that dog loves it ir i would throw it away. i have resirted to putting a large garbage bag over the stinky part so she can still use it until I can do better. To much work. This probably isn’t the review you’d expect, but my daughter LOVES this bed. When she was a few months old, we went on a family vacation and in lieu of spending $180 for a DockATot, we purchased this instead. This bed has literally been her obsession since that trip. Any time she sees it (even when I bring it downstairs to wash), she starts panting like a dog and rushes over to try and lay on it. We used it past the vacation and put it into her crib at home. She’s 20 months old now, and we’re trying to transition her to a toddler bed, but she keeps tossing and turning all night because she loves this dang dog bed so much and her regular toddler mattress just isn’t good enough for her. I came here to figure out what the minky fabric is that covers this darn bed so I can buy a fitted sheet of the same/similar texture to try and appease her and figured I would leave a review while I was here. We bought an extra when she was in daycare because she was having a rough time during nap time. Ohhh the laughs we got when I brought the dog bed in.. but it worked and she went right to sleep!Heather

It shrunk in size! Very disappointed in this purchase. They are making them smaller and the height is only 6 in compared to what the dimensions on the site saying 8 inches tall, they should be careful about that. We adopted a 14 year old Doberman last summer. He was in really rough shape, underweight and arthritic but we knew he was our pup when we saw him. I shopped around everywhere for a bed that would provide him comfort for both his joints and bony bits when he rested. After reading tons of reviews, my main concern was whether the bed would flatten with any amount of weight on it and therefore cease to provide support. Well I'm really happy I chose this bed. The support was exactly what I was looking for and our Old Man LOVED this bed. This bed is great for providing support for large dogs with bad joints and the egg crate pad makes the bed feel plush even with weight on it. Our dog loved it, yours will too.dorko135

I bought this bed for my 2 pitbull mixes, male & female. They both love them!! I would swear they were lying on their beds before they even hit the floor. I put one in the kennel for my male and it fits perfectly. I have purchased many other beds of different styles, brands, etc. All of them have ended up in the trash. This one is 5" orthopedic foam which doesn't sink and seperate causing big gaps in the bedding. Those gaps/dips leave my dogs lying on the floor no matter how many times you try to fluff it back into shape. This bed is firm and they love it! It also has a removable cover that I can wash. My parents bought this bed for my husky a month ago and he loves it! It is very well cushioned and is a great size for him to fully lay out on. I left him inside when I went to take out the trash and I came back to him eating something and then jerking his head around. I reached in his mouth and pulled out the metal zipper pull that had been on the cover of the bed. I warn other pet parents to make sure they either remove this (as my dog did) or not leave your dog unsupervised with this bed if they are a chewer. My dog normally isn't a chewer, but something about the pull made him want it. I'm just glad I was able to get it before he broke a tooth or swallowed it.maximom

I bought this for my lab-ish dog who is getting up there in years and isn't as comfortable on the floor. She LOVES it! It is big enough that she can sleep in a ball or stretch all the way out. The memory foam in the bottom takes 24 hours to expand before it goes in the bed. it is so thick and high quality. My dog likes to lay her head on things when she sleeps, so the bolster around the edges is really handy. My smaller dogs like to share it. I am really pleased with the bed, so are the dogs!Kaitlyn

Very thick padding on bottom of bed. It is actually several inches thick. Even with me sitting in it, I can't feel the floor. I think this would be great for older dogs due to the thick padding on base. The padding comes separate from the bed and when you unroll it, it increases in size. To assemble it, you just zip it in the bottom. The bottom base is rectangular and covers the whole entire bed at the bottom so no part of your dog is ever touching the hard ground. The bed is surrounded by thick bolsters and pretty flexible that the sides will move out if you dog wants to curl up or if they touch against the sides. My dog likes to use the side cushions as a head rest. I got the medium size for my dog who is a ~33lbs Shiba Inu. He's pretty big for his breed but it fits him perfectly when he decides to roll up in it and also he likes sleeping in it with his head up. Overall, its a great dog bed for a dog that likes to be snugged up and I think would be very supportive if your dog had hip/joint issues. I can see my dog using this a lot in the winter months and as he gets older.Autumn

My dog loves this orthopedic bed! We've tried a lot of different beds, but he loves the extra big cushions on this one. My dog is small (about 8 pounds), but I opted for this Medium size for him to be able to stretch out when laying on his side. It feels really high-quality, but still lightweight enough to move around the house. My dog likes to lounge in it during the day, but also snuggles up in it at night! I would highly recommend this for any small to medium sized dog who either likes to curl up against cushions for a safe feeling, or ones that like to rest their head on top of pillows.Victoria

My 54-lb Labradoodle loves this bed, and we do too. She hasn’t been able to chew it up, and eventually gives up after trying. She uses it quite often, so we think it’s comfy to her. We actually bought two—one for her crate (it fit her large crate perfectly) and one for the living room. The zipped cover makes cleanup easy (she has a sensitive stomach) and the inner pillows are only slightly difficult to get back in the cover. There is not enough stuffing in this dog bed, it goes right to the floor when any weight is put on it. Needs more stuffing. Also there is no zipper so you can’t take the cover off and wash it. You have to stuff the whole bed in a large washer only. Do not recommend, buy a different dog bedAToner

Got this bed for an older 50 lb. dog needing a soft place to lay, also got another 4-5 inch thicker orthopedic bed for her.As soon as we opened and laid this bed out she got on it and didn't get off of it except to go out to the bathroom, then came right back to the bed. It gives a little from her lying on it but I just shake it out to fluff it up. Its not real thick about 2 inches but soft and she seems to like it better than the sheepskin rug she use to sleep on.She rotates from this to the thicker bed, but I think this one gets a little more use.All in all a good bed that is easy to throw in the washing machine, soft and good neutral color. I love this product, as well as my dog. It’s perfect for my leather seats. Makes my beagle more comfortable for car rides. Easy to use, and to clean. To install use the adjustable headrest strap to install on any front seat or back seat with headrests. The seat anchor and lower strap help the dog bed hold in place. Product is machine washable. The cushion and seat pillow are easy to remove from zippered compartments. Incredibly easy set up and cleaning process! I highly recommend this to all pet owners!Amber87

My dog LOVES this car bed, and we really like it too! We needed a solution that would cover the back seat from hair but also allow us to keep the baby car seat installed. This is it! It was very easy to install and doesn’t slip around due to the bar that goes between the car seat cushions. It’s large enough for our 18lb dog and almost large enough for our 45lb dog but she loves small beds! Everything comes apart including the bolster and interior cushions so it should be easy to wash though we haven’t tried yet. It’s perfect for road trips and our puppies are happy and comfy!Texansmile

This is a perfect solution for our family. We have a medium size mix pup and she loves to go with us wherever we go. I used to have a special car seat cover, but when we added a car seat to the car, the cover was not practical because it covered the whole seat. This car dog bed is perfect! It stays on one seat, protects my car, and it is comfortable for our dog! I think it might get a bit too hot in the summer (we are in Texas), but we just have to wait and see. For now, I am impressed and our dog seems very happy with her new spot in the car. Oh, and it looks pretty good too!Judy1
