Sometime last year I contracted what I thought at first was poison oak working in my yard, after trying and failing over and over to relieve the symptoms with over-the-counter drugs and creams I just couldn’t seem to get rid of it. I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie
We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary
My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. This medication for dogs is a life saver. I had tried many different ways to get my little dog to stop biting herself. She was making raw spots and scores due to the amount of chewing. I came across Sergeants Hot spot medication and decided to try it. You will need to wash your pet and nearly shave the area and apply this medication several times, but it does work. No more raw/bald spots and I know my little dog is much happier. This stuff is the difference between being able to be outside and confined to the house if you have Type O blood. The mosquitoes seek us out. I have one in the house, one in the car and one in my purse. I never leave home without it. The secret to success is to apply it as soon as you are bitten. The next day is too late. When it first starts to itch and you first see the bite, apply it. Usually two applications will do it. Not only am I Type O I am also allergic. When I'm bitten I will get a spot 6 inches around and bright red. No other product works. If your children tell you it burns you waited to long. This after bite outdoor saved the day when my whole family accidentally disturbed a bee’s nest. I was stung twice, once in the upper arm and once on the neck. I was most concerned for my niece who was panicking. She would up with 3 bee stings. We all used the after bite which offered enough instant relief to relax a bit. I tried the Bug Bites Thing and I ended up in the emergency room. On Saturday night, I got a bug bite and tried the Bug Bites thing. By Sunday morning, the bug bite had doubled in size (saw a physician) and by Monday morning, the bug bite had quadrupled in size (saw a physician again – and started antibiotics). My neighbour's cat very kindly gave my dog fleas which then proceeded to eat me alive. I had bites all over my legs and trunk and a few on my arms. For the relief I got from this product I may as well have used water. It lasted for about 5 mins then the terrible itching started again. I love this soap. I use it on my dogs and horses. A dog with a bad case of mange will be cured in a couple of weeks. I have tried it on my horses for rain rot with excellent results. I had a horse with a fungal infection on his leg and this soap fixed the problem after 1 week. Its my go to product now. A neighbor's dog had screw worms in his ear. I tried everything until I tried this AND it quickly resolved my problem! I had a horse that experienced sweet itch (or so I thought) every summer after his hair thinned out. I thought it was the no-see-ums… Fly spray, shampoos, lotions, Swat, antibiotic creams, etc. No relief in sight and the condition was getting worse and worse (skin flaking, terrible itching, and finally hair loss). My various applications (and I tried them ALL) helped, but nothing reversed the problem. Then I tried the SOA… The horse SIGHED as I applied it. It is a little weird to use a bar of soap, but well worth the effort and not as hard as I thought it might be. The sulfer, aloe and glycerin provided soothing and long lasting relief to my guy. Then my other gelding came down with the same thing!!! Tried SOA on him, same positive & quick result. Turns out, it was an allergic reaction to the fly spray – maybe the formula changed. It's kind of hard for me to tell if it works. I think it does. It tells you how hot it is so it's not a secret that it's going to be hot. I still wasn't prepared for the intense burning sensation. Granted, part of it is probably how sensitive the skin is when you have a bug bite. It takes some getting used to. Since it's only for a few seconds, just about anybody can probably handle it. My reaction to mosquito bites has gotten progressively worse over the years. Lately it's been to the point where I get a welt the size of a quarter and really vicious itching, to the point where I have scars from scratching them open. And it usually takes 6-8 days for the itching to stop. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, worked, including a prescription cream. This is my trusty tool and I bring it out every summer. I have had it for at least three seasons and it’s still working on the original batteries. Yes it gets hot, so I don’t think kids would be able to handle it. But on adults it’s amazing. It takes the itching away from bites and drastically decreases healing time because I’m not itching it. I have a 11 Year Old Shih Tzu and a 2 Year Old Doberman Pinscher both males. My Shih Tzu can stay outside all day long and a fly won't even bother him but when my Dobie goes out , the flies for whatever reason are immediately attracted to him. It was so bad that even when I would walk him they were on him like they were glued to him. For the last two Summers of having him I would only let him stay out for short periods of time, which was heartbreaking because he's very nosy and spending time out in the yard. Fly off product review: There is no tougher time of year for external parasite exposure for dogs and horses who spend much time outside, than the warmer summer/early fall months. Not only are fleas and ticks abundant, but with the recent moister weather in many areas of the country, we are seeing a huge increase in fly exposure and what is called fly strike or secondary fly bite skin lesions in both dogs and horses. Not only can these pesky critters cause and/or aggravate topical skin wounds, but the more serious health risks to these animals involves the laying of eggs, which can turn into infectious larvae called maggots, which can lead to worsening infection and even death in some animals if they grow to huge numbers. That is why it is so important in those dogs and horses exposed to flies to use such a product to help kill and repell the flies.. For my canine patients this is especially important to apply around the ear tips where flies like to bite and/or sometimes lay eggs. It is also important for animal guardians to be aware of those long hair breeds who sometimes collect stool in the long hair on the rear, which is why it is critical to check these areas regularly in those pets housed or who spend much time outside. Using the fly off product in such areas can again help with preventing maggot infestation. The manufacturer has been around for decades and this product certainly has a proven track record. I give this product an overall rating of a 5 with an ease of use of a 5 as well.

This stuff is the difference between being able to be outside and confined to the house if you have Type O blood. The mosquitoes seek us out. I have one in the house, one in the car and one in my purse. I never leave home without it. The secret to success is to apply it as soon as you are bitten. The next day is too late. When it first starts to itch and you first see the bite, apply it. Usually two applications will do it. Not only am I Type O I am also allergic. When I'm bitten I will get a spot 6 inches around and bright red. No other product works. If your children tell you it burns you waited to long. This after bite outdoor saved the day when my whole family accidentally disturbed a bee’s nest. I was stung twice, once in the upper arm and once on the neck. I was most concerned for my niece who was panicking. She would up with 3 bee stings. We all used the after bite which offered enough instant relief to relax a bit. This couldn’t have come at a better time! We’ve been infested with ankle-biting mosquitos this year, as well as the typical spiders. I have 3 large dogs ranging in age from 1 to 10 years. The oldest one has some allery issues with itchy skin, and the youngest has digestive issues. Since gut health and immunity is important, and can decline with age, I think a prebiotic/probiotic supplement for dogs is a good idea. I like that it has a prebiotic and probiotic. This type of supplement is important for fighting inflammation and allergies, which is why I take one myself. Zesty Paws Advanced Allergy Immune Supplement seems like a good bet and I was pleased that all three dogs enjoyed eating it as if it were a treat. They have not bene taking it long enough to fully determine how well it works, but happily my older gy has had no skin issues while on it and my youngest has had no digestive issues.scrunchypickle

I have been giving the Zesty Paws Aller-Immune Mini Bites to my 3-year old Boston Terrier. She historically has had some kind of skin allergies bothering her for her whole life. Various trips to professionals and special diets occurred previously. I was excited by the appeal of the Aller-Immune bites. These bite-sized "treats" boast Immune support and Seasonal allergy improvement. It hasn't helped my dog in this way, in fact she has been scratching more and more. It's tough to say if it's the result of this product or if the weather and flora outside is changing. When things balance out again, I will continue to serve the rest of the product to my dog and see if it helps her gut. This product has probiotics advertised and it's possible it will be beneficial in the end. We will keep a close eye on her. We're glad we were able to try a new product.
