Dasuquin is an updated product from Nutramax. We gave Nutramax Cosequin to old German Shepherd and Australian cattle dogs that have since passed on because it gave them relief from joint pain that was obvious in the improvement in their ability to get up and lie down and run again. I'm giving maintenance doses of Dasuquin to two large dogs we have now that are age 4 and 5yr to extend the life of their joints. The ingredients are similar to human nutritional supplements for older people: Glucosamine, chondroitin, brewers yeast, dextrose, green tea extract, gum resin, lecithin, cellulose, mixed tocopherols, flavoring and soy protein. avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) ….. We haven't used Dasuquin long enough for a long term review so my rating is based on previous experience with Nutramax products. The tablets are 3/4 inch in diameter. My dogs won't eat them as they are so I break them into fourths with my fingers and drop them into their food. The tablets are easy to break. If your dog is getting older I recommend this product along with high quality dog food and fresh water.William
I was told my dog had a luxating patella. We would hear his knee popping in and out all the time. I bought this as the reviews were mostly positive. I have only been giving it to my two dogs for about 3 weeks, one is a 8 year old lab mix and the other is a 6 year old English Mastif. The Kong Bounzer is completely different than the original Kong that you fill with treats or the squeeze flavor stuff. It is shaped similarly, but they serve completely different purposes. The Bounzer comes in medium, large, and extra-large. My dog is about 15 lbs and the medium is about as big as he can handle. This is almost like a ball that's shaped like a giant Kong with a handle on top. It's hollow and made of a thick rubber. It has a teeny tiny hole on the bottom that allows air in and out when you squeeze it, like a squeaker toy, but doesn't make any sound other than air being pushed out. It bounces incredibly high with little control, so you have to be careful on the house, but my dog is absolutely obsessed. My dog destroys toys, like pulls stuffing out in minutes and loves to strip tennis balls of their felt covering, but he has not destroyed this toy. I gave the xl bounzer to my 19 month old English Staffy at 6.00pm so I could watch the News in peace. By 6.07 pm she had chewed the first hole and by 6.14 the hole was big enough for her to put her head in it. We got this for our dog when he was a puppy because he is a chewer. He still likes to chew on toys and he is 2 year old rottie. It is advertised for bigger dogs, but it’s just the right size for our 35 and 40 pound dogs. I worry if we will be able to use it for our a golden retriever puppy once he’s full grown. Our dog developed an inflamed bladder due to chemotherapy he was taking for cancer. He went from never having an accident to completely losing bladder control. These have been a life saver! My only complaint is that they do shrink a bit after washing, so I had to order the extenders in order to be able to use them after they’ve been washed a few times. Our Hava-Tzu started marking about three years after having him. He was fixed but out of the blue he started. Had him to the vet and he was physically great! But we endured him marking on the stainless steel frig, the bottom drawer of our stainless steel stove and the front of the dishwasher not to mention to many baseboards to name!! Bought Two of these – One for each grand dog home. Shipped to family member where we have Xmas and “Pup Pup”, the resident parcel inspector and delivery announcer went bonkers when the ball was removed from the shipping box. I would recommend this toy for a smaller dog or one who is not a powerful chewer. I know this is not intended to be a chew toy, but realistically, if you have a medium or large dog, they usually have a tendency to chew any toy you put in front of them. I have an English Pointer mix who normally destroys any toy I give him unless I get it from BullyMake or BarkBox. Unfortunately, neither offer a toy that compares to this one in terms of entertainment for your dog. He absolutely loved this toy so it is a shame that he was able to bite chucks out of it within 20 minutes. I can't find the pieces that he took out of it so I'm waiting to see if he passes them. If not, it will be a visit to the vet. He was so sad when I took it away from him and looked at me with those sad brown eyes. I would love to have one of stronger material that he could play with and not have to worry. My dog absolutely LOVES this ball. We got her one when she was just a puppy and it’s been her favorite toy since. She’s had it about 6 months and has destroyed it. I have a very powerful chewer who loves stuffed animals. I really wanted to leave a better rating for this. Have been a fan of the chuck it products for a while. After reading and watching a number of reviews where many stated this products durability I decided to pick it up for my boyfriends dog. Within the first 24 hours there was damage to the point the pet store offered a refund or exchange, I opted to try another one (after all many people mentioned how well made these were, clearly I just one with some slight defects-right?)Once exchanged we got some seriously enjoyable play. The design allows for an easy pick up, it is light weight. While it is more durable than some other balls, unfortunately we had just under a month of play before it was punctured and started to lose air. *Note- We keep this toy specifically for playtime, it is not one that would be accessed and chewed on. My English bulldog absolutely LOVES Chuckit! toys. This ball is definitely one of his favorites, however, his absolute favorite is the version that looks exactly like this, but comes in cube form. We usually try to keep multiples around the house because he loves it so much. I am also pleased with how well this has lasted. I decided to write a review bc just the other day I gave both my dogs a milk bone dog biscuit like I do every day, a couple of times a day lol. And was watching both my dogs go crazy over these dog treats and they tore them up. Mind you my oldest dog is picky when it comes to treats and food, and usually always rejects anything I try to give her; but not these! I've been giving these milk bone dog treats to my dogs for years (everyday 3 times a day) and they absolutely love them. I always wonder what the heck is actually inside these darn milk bone dog biscuits/treats, for my dogs to go head over paws for one. but at this point I guess it doesn't really matter what is in them, bc my dogs vet knows they get these as treats and never advised me to stop giving them to my fur babies, and watching my dogs go absolutely crazy over these dog bones; is all that really matters to me.melissa.m
My pit bull really loves these things. She gets so excited when we say “treat” and runs right towards the cupboard we keep them in. She doesn’t usually even like biscuit type treats but she goes crazy for these things. They’ve helped us in treat training her. She seems pretty happy with the taste and her poops have been healthy after eating them. They’re supposed to help with cleaning her teeth, and her teeth are still in good shape, but her breath still smells like meat all the time. The only concern I have is that I read these have carcinogen chemicals and preservatives in the ingredients which are bad for your dog and can cause cancer. I would never buy these dog treats again. About a year ago I would give my new puppy these treats and she randomly began having bathroom issues. I then assumed it was her dog food and completely changed her entire diet and threw away everything I was feeding her. Recently, we started giving her the milk bones again and the other day she started the bathroom issues again. The past couple of nights she’s been so sick she can’t even hold it in all night like she used to, she wakes us up at 3am crying to go outside and do number 2. This morning she woke us up wanting to go outside and not only go number 2 but also when she went blood came out of her bottom, which is what was happening a year ago. I know this is from the milk bone because we don’t feed her anything other then her normal dog food now ( which works perfectly with her stomach) and these bones. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. So we did the best we could with a dropper to feed and water her and rushed out to get Vetericyn to help stave off the infection which reduced the angry redness to a healthier pinkish. For the very few days we had before we had to go, I was keeping her hydrated and was spraying her face with the Vetericyn regularly (as directed) even as we headed out the door with one last treatment. We did cut our weekend trip short by a day out of concern for her, but when we came back she was doing significantly better in that the swelling was down, but was reddened again. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. I aunt worked in pet stores in the past and found that it was common for AmStaff breeds to have allergies to certain ingredients, usually the fillers in cheaper foods. This is not to say that every one of them has these allergies, it was just a common theme I came across. Diamond Naturals doesn'thave those fillers. Your dog can eat the correct amount of food and be satisfied without constantly begging for more. My boy have healthy coat, teeth and no allergies to this food. Also, if you have a dog that weighs over 50lbs, I would always suggest to get the Large Breed food. These have more Glucosamine and Chondroitin and will help those large breed dogs have a longer happier life. Personally, I like the price point on Diamond Naturals compared to similar foods. Preface- I have a 6-month-old large breed puppy. (we're waiting for the Embark DNA results, but he is believed to be a mastiff shepherd mix). I had him on Purina One large breed puppy kibble, and I mixed it with Purina One healthy puppy lamb and long grain rice canned. This is recommended to us by our vet because we have a very difficult time getting out dog to stay still while brushing his teeth. My Golden loves these! He'll search for these after his dinner. Ever since we started giving him these, he refuses to take normal rawhide treats because he loves the taste of these so much more. I am so glad that we got to try this cot out! I have two dogs, a Jack Russell and a chow chow. My dogs did not want anything to do with this dog bed the first day and a half. But then we got the idea to put a fuzzy blanket on it and now both my dogs love it! I can’t blame them for wanting a blanket though, because it is winter in Minnesota currently! Our dog twice got foxtail seeds in his paws which lead to serious infections. He missed a hunting trip and the second time his paw was huge with the infection and had to be lanced. Poor fella. I found Musher's Secret online and took a chance. He never got another seed or infection in his paws. We've now have two small dogs who are having a hard time this winter on the snow and ice. Both of them come inside from going out for 2-3 minutes (I set a timer.) limping with ice crusted on their paws. I'm sure Musher's Secret is going to take care of this problem.
