I like that it keeps my dogs coat pretty and shiney. I have a boykin spaniel and sometimes their coat can get dull. This product works great for my dog. She’s coonhound and beagle mix. When I first brought her home she shed something awful! HAIR WAS EVERYWHERE! The con: Can be a bit pricey, as You have to buy 2 or more bottles before you see results. And your pet may not like it! I suggest holding on to the receipt, as I bought one for a friend and their pet didn’t care for it. The instructions say to double the dose for the first 30 days depending on the weight of your pet. Cookie weighs about 25lbs. For the first 30days I had to give her 4 tablespoons a day sprinkled and mixed in her food. 2tblsp in the a.m and 2tblsp in the p.m. from the 16oz bottle so I ran out of the fish oil in less than a week. These are very soft chews that can be crumbled in your hand. I like that they are all natural and have ocean kelp among other excellent ingredients. These are safe to be given to dogs of any age, and are safe for any size or breed. I feel better about giving my dog a natural supplement. I have a very lovable and friendly male golden retriever that loves to stop, drop, and roll no matter where he is. I have a beagle mix who is allergic to almost everything! He's allergic to trees, pollen, grass, cats, dust, seriously the list goes on. During the spring and summer his allergies get so bad on his feet. They itch him so bad that he chews on them and it leaves them raw and then that leads to a yeast infection (which he is also allergic to). We have had him on prescription allergy medicine and even have gotten him steroids and allergy shots. This summer has been so crazy with traveling that we have only had a chance to get one allergy shot so when i saw these, which are SO less expensive than his visits to the vet I had to try. I have been giving him 1.5 pills twice a day, as the bottle recommends, for about a week and I am honestly surprised that these actually seem to be helping. This product is to be administered with the pump as the measurement tool. If you open the lid and insert the pump as you normally would you then have to clean up your counter, floor and hands as the product is full to the top with no space for the pump to insert. When you insert the pump, the product does not go up into the pump it runs over the top and all over everywhere. just wanted others to be aware of this when they use it for the first time.
Four years ago, we adopted a lab/pit mix from a local rescue. The dog came in from another state so there were no medical records. What we didn't know is that our new family member had terrible allergies. After spending about $2000 and no real good answers, we thought that maybe there wasn't any. We had her on special food, shampoo, rinse, and meds. She still was missing big patches of fur all over. Her tail had no hair on it (it's called "rat tail") and she looked so terrible that I didn't want to take her out cause of what everyone would say. My two little dogs (a chihuahua and a chihuahua/daschund mix) really loved these treats! They were the perfect size for them as little dogs, plus they were all natural, so I felt good about giving my dogs these chews. They actually got to the point of getting really excited when they saw me get the bag, so I know that they really loved them, too! On top of that, the treats are a soft chew and my dogs could eat them easily and didn't struggle chewing them like they do with some of the hard treats I've purchased in the past. My girl has had bad allergies since I moved to Texas. Mainly skin allergies. She’s about 80lbs and she’s 12. She was taking apaquil daily and it worked however it’s expensive but not only that taking long term allergy meds can actually put her at higher risk of yeast or other fungal skin infections. My chihuahua Rebel is 13 years old and has been sneezing, scratching and had watery alot lately. I saw this product online when I was buying his water additive and figured I'd give it a try. My 7 month old yellow lab was excessively itchy and dropping fur like crazy. All dogs scratch and shred…this is my second Labrador so I know what "normal" shedding and scratching look like…this puppy was miserable. Then she broke out into hives. A treatment plan of Benadryl combined with a skin supplement was recommended by someone I trust. While waiting for the skin supplement to arrive, I began adding ground flaxseed to her food. The results were immediate. The shedding nearly stopped altogether. When these supplements arrived, I stopped adding the ground flaxseed to her food and fed these instead. The shedding and itching continued to improve. I stopped the Benadryl completely and her skin and coat looked amazing and she was obviously more comfortable. When I ran out of the soft chews, the shedding and scratching started all over again within 2-3 days. Proof for me that the soft chews were doing the job. When reordering, I decided to shop for a supplement that also had flaxseed but was cheaper per dose. I ended up ordering "The Missing Link" powder. The powder requires refrigeration and a measuring spoon and it leaves a fishy odor behind. In addition she sheds a little more on the powder than when on the soft chews. Regarding the breath aid…my lab never has bad breath anyway, so I cannot comment on that. And for those interested…in the meantime I have switched her food from Science Diet Large Breed Puppy which was full of corn to Blue Buffalo Large Breed Puppy. If you have a small breed dog, be careful! These bites are large; my Shih Tzu can't chew them whole; I have to cut them into smaller pieces so she can take them. So, if you have a small puppy, make sure you cut the bites into small pieces and give them to your dog. Overall the results are good, and you should try this product at least once.
