36 X 24 Dog Crate For Sale (2024 Update)

The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice

I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09

He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! I don’t love this cover. There is nothing to hold it onto the crate so it slips about. I am going to sew some ties onto the bottom to help keep it in place. I do like the option to open different parts of the cover for different doors on the crate. The pattern is nice and also.Little cat dog

The cover was just as I expected. Light weight, durable and easy to care for. The oy recommendation I can .American is to add velcro/hook&loop fasteners to keep the top of the cover in place. This would prevent the occupant from chewing and keep the cover in place. The for is drab but it gives the crate a dark den appearance so the occupationt is calm and content. The price is right and enaes the economical purchase of several.Wudbuchr

I have found over the years that animals naturally respond favorably to a darkened environment. They are more relaxed and calm. Babies in a crate with natural, artificial, even greatly reduced lighting remain alert, peering into the darkness. They often whine, whimper, or bark, but cover the crate and within minutes, they unwind and are off to sleep. For this reason, I have put dark cloth or a blanket over my crates. These covers make it so much easier, and they don't shift or hang on the floor. They look tidier and I can vacuum around the crate without catching the cover.Zuwadi

If you are needing to purchase a new dog crate, this is the brand and model I highly recommend. Midwest had several levels of crates but I have found that you cannot go wrong purchasing the Lifestage's model. They are solidly made and last forever. I always purchase the double door crates. They have cheaper models & more expensive ones too. I would not recommend their icrate as they are cheaper but they are also not had solidly made as the Lifestage's. Spend the extra $10-$15 and purchase the Life Stages model. It is well worth the money. I have had great success purchasing there crates at Petco.com. I always receive my items within a couple of days. It is also nice when you have a Petco store nearby where you live. If you have any issues with the merchandise you received, they have always been very accommodating and made sure they did whatever was necessary to correct the problem, return the merchandise at a full refund and/or replaced the item. I have been very happy with Petco and the merchandise I have purchased!!!Shari L

I just received this crate a couple of days ago for my Saint Bernard mix pup. The size is perfect and he has tons of room to grow in it. The doors latch nicely and the crate is very sturdy. We received this very fast! The only downfall I had with this purchase was that when we removed it from the box and set it up, there was a decent sized crack (all the way through) on the tray. I won't be replacing the tray as I've spent enough on this crate. And fortunately for me, my 5 month old pup doesn't have accidents in his crate, but I'm sure if others received this, they would not be happy.tsjackie

I had been looking at the end table style crates thinking that would look nicer and less bulky then the 4' x 4' X-pen I have in my living room. But, comfort is the main criteria and I wanted my Whippets to feel they could stand and dig through a deep pile of bedding, so I went with this crate. I like to rearrange the furniture so I bought the double door style to keep my options open. For my two Whippets I bought the 42" x 28" size which has been more then enough room for them to lay side by side or end to end. It arrives flat, but you just fold out the sides and it is ready to go. It came with a handle so it could be 'portable', but at this size it is heavy and I don't plan to take it anywhere, so I didn't attach that. I left the X-Pen up for them while they made the transition, but they hopped into the new crate the minute I put it up and haven't been back in the X-Pen (even though it still has more bedding in it). The black wire instantly looked better then the metal of the X-Pen and I'm staining a piece of wood I put trim molding around for the top (I had it cut to size at Home Depot) so I'll have an end table style look, but the height and comfort the pups want for their 'cave.' Very happy and buying a second one to have at the office for the days they come to work with me. Both crates and the wood top are costing less then the end table style crate, so all three of us are happy!psh1

I almost did not purchase this crate due to the multiple bad reviews. Glqd I purchased it qnyway. Other than the people who recieved damaged or warped crates, I'm not sure why there are so many reviews claiming it is difficult to assemble. I'm 4'11", 90 lbs, had 3 kids under 5 in the same room, and I assembled it alone without any real difficulties. The aforementioned children are in one of the review photos to show the enormity of the crate. The 9 month old Great Dane is in the other photo. Luckily for me, besides a slightly warped top piece, none of my pieces were bent, warped, or broken. Took about 30-40 minutes to assemble. Certainly would have been faster if I'd had someone helping, like the manual recommends.Brooke

I bought a larger cage purposely for him to grow into it. They have a divider which makes the crate smaller if needed. This is definitely worth the price! The ones at the pet store were soooo expensive compared to this one. I felt like the locks on this crate we more secure than the other ones I've seen and not only that it was extremely fast shipping I got mine about 3 days later. This crate is amazing . It is sturdy and durable , not to mention so easy to set up. I timed myself: 51 seconds to fold it up and latch it. The divider panel and tray are excellent additions to the package and it is just extremely good quality. I recommend this wonderful pet home to anyone who even considers it.iluvredbones101

I was so excited about the fantastic sales price on the crates! Ordered an i Crate in the large size, before I did the research. After research I realized I ordered the lowest-grade crate, not what I wanted. Tried to cancel the order to reorder the higher-grade Ultima Pro. After two calls, they did send a cancel through to see if it would work. (It didn't.) I didnt want to risk waiting and missing the sale so I ordered the Ultima Pro, had to be medium, because large was out of stock. Just opened it and, like others, got one that can't even be put together because it's so out of square. It can't even be bent into place it's so bad. This is one reason I HATE buying online. The only good part is I can at least return it to the local Petco instead of having to ship it back.Lotsa animals here

I purchased two of these "KennelMaster 24" Folding Black Wire 2 Door Dog Crate" and have had them for several months. What a great buy! Super easy to set up: they come preassembled and all folded up. They unfold and set up in a minute. I have one for each of my dogs: a Maltese/Bichon mix and a Chihuahua mix (who looks just like a small German Shepherd). We use their crates for the night time and when we leave the house. These crates are made of very nice thick metal. Incredibly sturdy. The latches are well made and smart-doggy proof. I like that the bottom is solid and can be easily removed and sanitized. My dogs have scratched and nibbled on the bars daily and the crates have held up like new. There are two doors on each crate: one door on a long side and one door on a short side. There's also a handle on top which makes it really easy to move around when I am relocating it, transporting the dogs, or just moving the crates to vacuum and clean underneath. My crates also came with some additional wire dividers that I don't use. I believe they are for making the crate smaller when you have a puppy and removing it as your dog grows. Crates can be really expensive so I was glad to find these at such a bargain price, especially because they are so well made. I know these crates will last many, many years. I have no negative things to say about these dog crates. I would highly recommend them! Please note: I do not put both dogs in the same crate, though they do both fit. Excellent dog crate! Lots of mesh to let in air and light. It has a nice carrying case for traveling. The Sherpa pad that is included is washable and soft. This is a sturdy crate that will not collapse. It has several points of entry which is nice as well.vthokiesno1

We have a Catahoula pup and ordered the 36” soft camo crate. It fits perfectly in our Jeep and is great for travel purposes. I have read reviews on rips and tears but this crate is made very well! Only reason there would be an issue is if the dog is not crate trained/loves to chew and scratch. It did take a bit for our pup to get use to it in the car but once he did it has been the best! Super easy to store away as well.
I also cannot say enough about how helpful elitefield customer service is! Bianca helped us with getting the correct size in the color we wanted when other 3rd party sites selling the product were not helpful at all.Krista Angelucci

This is a great size for the back of an SUV, which is how I use them. I can easily get 4 in the back of my Armada. The only downside is the sides don't always match up perfectly, making it a little difficult to latch the doors without pulling up or pushing down on the front piece. This may get better as the crate ages and settles, but at this point it appears to be more cheaply made than my other wire crates where the pieces slide easily and without effort. I ordered four crates and this is an issue with all of them, but just the front doors – the side doors slide easily.Dog Sports Nut

The plastic tray had a chip in it upon arrival. No matter because my dog ripped the tray to pieces anyway. He also was able to pull the wire under the door in about 2 inches and push the door out, enough to get most of his snout through, in only an hour. This crate is poorly made, very flimsy. It’s great. My young cockapoo got right inside of it without hesitation. It’s sturdy enough and easy to transport. The only downside in my opinion is that only one of the sides has netting for ventilation and while the top opens up completely (and therefore allows for alot of air circulation) there is no top netting so your pet can easily get out from the top.Sephora54

We bought two of the medium size Animaze portable dog crates for our dogs to use when we go camping. I set them up in the house first and the quality seemed to be pretty good and they went up easily. A big plus to me – they don't have any chemical smell like a lot of products from China – YAAA! The dogs went right into the crates and seemed very comfortable there. When I moved them into our camper for the first trip out with them using the crates instead of just pet beds, they seemed to like them – they stay in there most of the time they are inside the trailer.Larry2c

Well, we bought the beige style of this one and it was great. Cats love it. Decided to get the white one.. Terrible craftmanship. The top part leans and will not get any tighter..Posts are not as thick as the beige one. The beige came with a hanging mouse and rope, the white one does not. This is a nice looking crate and it is substantial. It is also easy to move around. The main problem with it is that the clips to open and close the doors are annoyingly difficult. Also the side garage style door is difficult to operate as well. Sometimes I just leave the top open and take my little schnauzer out the top – it's easier.Joyce

About six months after giving away our lrg pet taxi, stored for years, our beloved dog had two disks rupture immediately paralyzing him. Putting him down wasn't an option(!) so we took him to Manhattan for emergency surgery. After a week at the hospital we were allowed to bring him home with strict instructions that he MUST be crated for 6 weeks to recover and let the spineal injury heal. I began looking for a replacement crate and cost was certainly a factor after the almost prohibitive cost of the surgery. The Pet Gear Crate became the one and only choice upon seeing the 'other door'. Given our dogs inability to walk or step in or out of the cage for the first week, the 'garage door' was absolutely awesome. Because he cried constantly if we left the room, we rolled it into the bedroom each night to sleep with us. The standard side door still allowed me to let him out for bathrrom breaks quickly and easily. He still has three weeks of crate time at this point, but the garage door is the most awesome invention ever! After a full recovery I plan to leave it open all the time and hope to encourage him to continue to use the crate as his bed. We bought two Petmate Silky Plush Dog Beds to put in the bottom that fit EXACTLY that give him plenty of comfort and since he is confined for 24/7, to keep him from getting bed sores or hot spots. The mat that comes with the crate is only two material pieces thick. For us and our pupose this crate is a great product/purchase. (Unfortunatley,for me) they lowered the price only two weeks after buying it, so it is more inline with where it should be priced given the overall quality and materials made with. I would not recommend this product if your dog is not crate trained or an escape artist. It is not a super sturdy crate and definatley not intended for traveling, but strictly home use. However, the second reason we purchased this crate is because it folds up so-to-speak and will store much more easily and in less space than a traditional crate. Third reason, it has wheels. When empty it helps moving it from room to room if necessary.HersheyDog

Well this item is not easy to assemble, I hope that once I get it together it feels stronger than it looks. I purchased this for two small chihuahuas when going to the vet or the groomer. Our 25 pound dog likes to jump on top of his crate. So this new crate is not up to that. He’s already broken it. Maybe this is not what the crate is designed for but still think it should last longer than a week. I gave two stars instead of one because the crate is not advertised as being able to withstand a dog jumping on top of it. But still come onKeeeef

We purchased two of these kennels. Not because we have so many dogs as there are only two teacup poodles in our home, we’re planing on breeding them in another year or so thus we’ll be in need of separate quarters. These have a divider that can be used or not. For now we don’t need the division, but we may in a year… The kennels were easy to set up and all doors operated as designed. All in all we’re happy with our purchase and would recommend this model kennel.H Forrest

I use this in my office building for my French Bulldog, its a perfect size and the set I bought came with the little cushion that goes at the bottom. The 2 doors are nice so you can arrange it an way you want in your house it is very sturdy yet collapsible in case you need to travel a bit. The tray at the bottom slides out easily for messes ect. We bought this cage so we could bring the dogs in the garage on the coldest winter nights without them getting into stuff they shouldn’t. It works great! We are very happy with this item. It folds up easier than other kennels we have used in the past. It’s convenient we can fold it up and stick it next to the fridge when not in use. I just received this Kennel today. I got the medium kennel. Very easy setup, very nice size a lot of room for my puppy to grow. The only concern I have was that it’s cheaply made very flimsy. My dog will only get 10 pounds so it’s ok for him. But any bigger I would not purchase this not made well enough.Chone

I bought this Kennel initially because it was titled as "Heavy Duty" and an Alaskan Malamute is used as the representative of what this kennel should hold up against. I figured for the price I would give it a shot, we could use a spare kennel anyway since we are fostering a husky, kennel space was limited. When the kennel was delivered and we opened the box. I thought that the wires were a bit thin? Yet, we set it up for use anyway. We decided to leave that afternoon and we put our older Female Alaskan Malamute in the new "Heavy Duty" kennel. We were gone for 2 hours. When we returned, our Female had been able to bend and brake off wires. We had only owned this kennel for a few hours and it was already busted. Needless to say we were frustrated with the false advertising of this kennel. We gave this product 3 stars because we technically can still us it for our Male Alaskan Malamute. This kennel is a must have especially if you have an energetic puppy like I do. We use it when she gets overstimulated from playing. It’s a nice safe retreat for her. We have a powerfully built 40 pound mutt who can muscle her way out of her old crate by popping the single latched door open. We had to add an extra clip to the door to keep her in the crate, which is a pain getting the clip on and off to let her in and out. She can’t gorse the door on this crate open due to the double latches AND the extra “hook” on the tip that holds the latches in place. My little bulldozer can’t open this crate by force and go counter surfing, much to her dismay.TKettle

We bought this cage just to give our little guy a slightly bigger bed, now that he is full grown. This is actually just a bed with a door, because he loves being in it, and goes in on his own, just to nap, with the door open. We have the black crate cover also, which I highly recommend buying. As far as durability goes, or security for that matter, I've seen better. If you have a large or rambunctious dog, I would think twice. Also consider the fact that there is only one door latch on each door. But that's what you get for the price.Sherry

This product has room enough to grow as your puppy grows. The divider provided with the crate is easy to use. The crate is great to set up and is easily folded down to move it take with you. The tray in the bottom is very durable and cleaning is a breeze. This product is everything it says it is and I recommend it to anyone. This is my first time with an extra large breed dog and it has made things easier for me and I am confident when I need to put my pup in it to go to work. I know he will be fine and comfortable.Char

The crate prices on Dog.com totally rock! We decided we needed an extra crate for up at the cabin….since it was "last minute" I ran to my local national chain pet store and they had one brand of folding crates like this one…..their pricing was ridiculous…..the size I needed was 3X what Dog.com was charging, even with shipping. No brainer, we ordered this one & it came standard shipping super fast & over Memorial weekend (like 2-3 days-we were still at the cabin!) and it's exactly like our other crate we bought from this site 4 years ago. Great quality….very sturdy and easy to fold & set back up. Also comes with a divider if you have a puppy or want to have two small dogs share the crate. The bottom liner also slides out for easy cleaning, if needed. You can't go wrong with this crate.SaintPaulMom
