It is utilized in our camper for our 90 pound chocolate lab. She fits well enough to lay down and it was not wrecked the first few uses, but she is crate trained. I do however believe the bottom material could've used some more reinforcement as a dog that size wont take much to make an accidental rip. This crate tucks in nicely by the bed. I had to twist the crate to get it to fit, but since it is soft sided, it was easy to do. I have 2 long haired miniature dachshunds, and they both have plenty of room and are really happy to have their blankets and sleeping space. The crate is well made and is perfect for my needs. I looked at a number of options and could not find another crate as narrow as this one. The metal door is easy to close and I was able to flip it so the door opened the direction I needed. The only negative is with the limited space, the opening radius of the door is fairly limited. Both my dogs can easily fit, but depending on the space in your unit, a larger dog might have troubles fitting through the door. Wish it came in a larger diameter, but I think the 38 will work for now. The puppy will only be about 4 pounds when I get her but will grow to be 8-10 pounds, so the pen should give her enough room to play until she is trained. I also like that it has a zippered top that can be taken off while inside or zipped on if outside because she is small enough to become prey to hawk, owls, or coyotes. Also like the pockets, the tote bag, and the fact that it is so light weight.
I purchased the play pen for my 10 week old chihuahua. I am pleased that it gives him plenty of space for a bed, a potty pad, a wooden table for food and water, and still plenty of space for him to play with toys. I am using the play pen when I need to be gone for any amount of time. I also purchased a crate at our local store for him to use at night. He seems to like being in the play pen. I know my cat appreciates having the house to herself when he is in it. The two are still working on sharing a home and myself. They are doing well considering it has only been 10 days. I feel that any breed that is bigger then a toy/miniature would be better in a bigger,sturdier enclosure. I think that this would also work for cats/kittens while house training. I bought the pink one for my 3 month old American cocker spaniel and it was definitely not a good choice. It's cute and the color is nice but it's too easy for the sides to cave in and if your dog or cat is super crazy, they can actually move this around the floor like a hamster ball. This is probably fine for small, inactive puppies, dogs, kittens or cats. It's spacious enough for a sedentary furry friend. My hyperactive little terror sunk her teeth into the mesh sides and started pulling it apart. She also figured out how to unzip it. I would not recommend it.kejean12

This is not really a kennel, more like a pop up shelter as it will not really confine a dog or cat that wants to get out of it. I use it to create a den-like atmosphere for my dog, a go to place when we are travelling. The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice
I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09
We bought this in April 2022 for our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy. He was weeks old when we rescued him. He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! This is a handy and nicely made crate. This size small is the perfect size for our Chihuahua mix, or our silky terrier, or even our cat to lay in. A taller dog might not fit in very well though because the opening isn't very tall. We could easily fit a dog bed in there. All the pets were happy to check it out and seemed to be very content to lay inside the crate. I love how easy it is to fold and unfold so it really takes up hardly any space for storage or travel. I bought this carrier for a kitten that I will be picking up tomorrow. I unpacked it today and found it a bit odd that there is no handle. You can see the carrier until you completely unpackage it. There is nothing on the outside of the carrier that says whether or not there is a handle. There was not a handle shown on the packaging. The carrier will be okay while she is a small kitten. Product is not the same as the playpen I ordered a few months ago, even though the order was placed as a "reorder". The firsrt playpen worked well but the zippers wore out after a few months use. I went to my account and reordered item thinking it would be the same but this one has a flimsy bottom that attaches with some small velcro patches, even velcro completely on the bottom might work better. the puppy I put in it got out in less than thirty min. because of the sloppy w the floor section was put together. it seems extremeley stupid to put 8 very small Velcro pieces on the floor piece 7 & expect it to hold when there are ripples in the spaces between the Velcro large enough for just about any size dog to put its head through. I have some strong hold Velcro so I am going to correct the problem. for the price it was an ok buy & I can repair the problem. After receiving this playpen and setting it up – found a small hole in the side. I was very disappointed, since we had just purchased a 8wk old puppy. I was desperate for someplace to put her to while I worked/or cleaned the house. I didn't want to put her in a small kennel and really thought this product would be my answer. We decided to keep the pen and try to fix the hole. I know Walmart would have taken the product back…but I was not sure the next one would be any better. AND the pen had a terrible odor. Strong chemical smell. I sprayed it with Febreze and set it outside in the sun for the entire day. Smell is much better…but you can still smell it somewhat. The good part is it folds up very nicely and we can use it while camping.

On the surface this is a great product – good size, light, folds down to nothing. But it failed the dog test. I put my 5 yr old Cocker Spaniel in it, inside my RV, to test it out. He was fine while I was in the RV. But then I stepped out momentarily. As I was closing the door I saw that he was rolling the kennel. There's nothing to keep it upright. I let him go – he was till contained and the unit is about the same on each side, so I figure rolling wouldn't be an issue. But a minute later when I came back (seriously, on the order of one minute or less), he was out of the cage, on the table, eating my breakfast. I had zipped both zippers to the bottom of the screen. But after rotating it the zippers were at eye level, and he scratched at them to separate them, got an opening, and worked the hole open enough (I'm guessing) to get his nose in and open the zipper enough to escape. This dog is not known as an escape artist either. I am going to have to zip-tie the zippers together to keep him contained. Not my ideal solution.DrNuke
So, from the moment this crate popped open and smacked me in the face i knew this was going to be a rocky ride. My puppy rolled around my living room in this thing like a hamster in a hamster wheel. For HOURS! IT IS NOT STURDY!! Any time she moved it would fall and collapse. On top of it being bad for containment, it holds pet odors like no ones business. I was looking at these on Amazon and luckily I seen this one at the store tonight because it saved me some money. It’s perfect for our puppy and works great in the RV because it’s so easy to store when not in use. Now if you are buying to use on a large breed puppy, like a boxer and turn your back for a millisecond and expect it to still be sitting there as you left it, maybe you shouldn’t get a dog. Because this is meant for little dog puppy breeds like chihuahua or older dogs who have reached maturity and enjoy good naps. Even if you have a older dog but it’s skiddish about things I wouldn’t recommend because the moment it lays down and the side moves it’ll probably freak and then it’s over. But for puppy that weighs a pound it’s perfect. Her little bed fits in there and she can see everything that’s going on. I would never leave the room with her awake in it just in case. But she knows it’s nap time when she gets in it so I don’t have any problems getting things done around the house and don’t have to worry about her getting underfoot or into mischief. If I get a month out of it which I’m sure I will but I’ll have gotten my money’s worth out of it. For the price you can’t expect it to last 10yrs like your hard plastic or metal one did but I’ll be beyond ecstatic if it does last that long. Anything changes I’ll update this review. We have a chubby chihuahua that is petrified of the wind and storms we have here during the monsoon season… I'ved tried a calming coat and letting her sleep with us but she shakes so badly, no one could get any sleep! I had a feeling this little pink crate might do the trick! At first, she was hesitant to even get in it, but I left her little bed in it and after only 2 days she was laying in there and feeling very secure! We had lots of wind and dust storms the last two nights and son of a gun, there was Baby, tucked in her crate, not bothered by the storm. My 3 year old grandson was over today playing with his toys in it and it's pretty sturdy too! Setting it up took only two minutes right out of the box with no loose parts to worry about. Wow, a crate that is pretty. I don't know if that matters to the pets, but I sure like looking at a blue crate. A baby blue to be exact. This crate is small. The one piece package is easy to open, setup and breakdown for storing and transporting. It weighs 11 lbs. It measures 24 1/2" long x 18" wide and just under 21" high. When closed up the 21" high becomes approximately 3 1/2 inches and latches closed. It doesn't have a carry handle which is disappointing. No divider is included, but really not necessary for a small one door crate. The tray is solid with no imprint as others that I have and that's a plus. The even surface is much easier to clean. The sliding latch is easy and stays in place. I noticed that the paint makes it a tiny bit "thicker" and requires just a little more effort to setup and breakdown than my others. A few spots of paint have chipped off due to this. And because it doesn't have any sharp edges even under these chips; it's nothing of concern, just an observation. Very smooth bars and connections. The crate has a single door which is fine for my pet room, but if you need to move it around or transport in small spaces, you might want one with a double door. I have set this up in my pet rescue room along with my larger crates. I really like this size and plan to put several more of these small crates in the pet room. I see there are pink ones also. And I want one for my own cats because it seems to be a fantastic method for timeouts! Half a star off for not having a carry handle. Purely my hang up, since it's lightweight I can just as easily pick it up by sticking fingers through bars on top, but not too easy when a pet is inside. This was probably the easiest cage I've ever had to put together. It literally folds in on itself and I didn't even have to attach the door. Once I figured out which side had to go up first, it was a breeze. The pink color makes it really cute. Not just a wire dog cage. It is just a cage however. It doesn't have a carrying handle on top, and I'm not sure if it would hold together really well with a dog or two in it and carrying it around. But it is perfect for bed time or when you are training a new puppy or when you are gone. I have 2 yorkie girls and they both fit in it fine and had plenty of room. And the ease of folding it up flat to travel makes it perfect for a portable cage.krmills

I was skeptical tht it would be what I wanted but OMG. I was so excited when I saw the size of it and not only does our biggest dog fit comfortably, but all 3 fit into this spacious kennel. This item did not disappoint and in fact, exceeded my expectations. The demensions are perfect for where we keep it and the side door is super convenient. I got it on sale for half price and honestly, I regret not buying one sooner, sale or not. It is fully worth it to not see a big dog sitting halfway up and hunched over cuz he is too tall. His smile is huge cuz he is a GSD that needs the space. The advertisement pic with the Golden Retriever for a size comparison seemed fake to me but there is no exaggeration on the size. It's fine as long as you keep the door closed. The one thing I really dislike is the door doesn't swing open all the way so, unless it is closed, it sticks out into the room for us to trip over. It should open 180 degrees so it sits flush with the side of the crate. This was true of our last crate, which also made it very simple and quick to remove and re-attach the door if we wanted it off completely. This crate does neither so we live with it sticking out into our walkway, constantly in the way and, when we bump it, swinging closed so our dog cannot cannot get into her crate. She used to enjoy her crate during the day as well as sleeping in it at night. It's her safe space. So, we want her to have 'in and out' privileges all day but this door makes it tough. Had to adjust(bend) the bottom catch so wall would not give my dog the opportunity to find a point of egress. He does not care for it. Hoping he will adjust to it. Usual trading methods not working. Since he was mistreated, I assume a cage was used as a means of punishment. Please don't do that to your dog. If you feel he needs punishment, it's most likely your fault and you shouldn't have a dog. They live to please you but need to know what you want through positive reinforcement!Judy Trudy

The fold out sides do not have adequate support so unlike the photos, the zipper section of each side hangs down minimizing the interior space. There are 2 support rods (one for the front and back edges) of the fold outs that are a bit ill-fitting; if a 3rd support was added to run behind the zipper and help support the mesh material I would love the crate.lisa

We bought this for our American Bull who is not very big at 35 lbs for camping and she loves it. Ours was exactly as it looks; red with blue trim. We've used it in the house and bought a furry mat for her to sleep on. We recently bought a Staffordshire Terrier who is now 6 mos and 40 lbs so we're going to buy this in large for him, and we already bought him his own furry mat to sleep on in it. If your dogs are trained to only sleep in them they will not try to escape. These kennels are not made for all day kennel training. Here's the deal…I have a Westie that whined and fidgeted on a 5 hour car ride. Everyone was frustrated so this carrier was enough to keep him in one place during the car ride. True, he did figure out how to "nose" the zipper open. But a firm and loud "NO" stopped that and he was good for the rest of the ride. I'll use it again on road trips. This is not the answer for a permanent kennel, you'll need something sturdier, especially if you'll be leaving your pet alone. But it's great for car trips or keeping him calm when guests come over. We needed kennels that could be there when we need them and didn't take a lot of space when we didn't and these are the perfect answer. I'd only use them for temporary types of uses. They're probably not good for keeping them in while you're at work unless the dog is fully crate trained, and then I'd still feel better knowing they were in a wire or plastic crate so they couldn't rip their way out and get hurt or damage things. I wanted a soft crate with a top opening for my puppy that will be arriving in mid July. As a pet sitter, I've seen my clients crates and as good as they were, this one is that much better. It's good looking, has openings on three sides and the top plus has foldable shades on all openings. It comes with a sherpa inside mat that's not plush by any means but does the job. I called customer service when I ordered and they helped me pick the right size and told me that if I wasn't happy when I received it to let them know and they'd pick up the original and ship me the new size. Fabulous overall experience. Product was received in a timely manner, well packed, and the product itself is the best! There are too many junky soft-sided crates on the market. This one is sturdy, putting it together is a snap, and the pad inside can be replaced with all kinds of options when needed. We generally replace a pad on the inside about once a year just to keep them fresh. Our dogs actually like the blue ‘cooling’pads more than big fluffy pads anyway, but they are Shelties with a lot of hair. The crate itself is just superior and I have just ordered a second one for another pup arriving soon. Really, I can’t say enough good things about this crate. If your pup is a chewer you might consider a hard crate temporarily till they move out of the chewing phase but there isn’t much to chew on in these crates anyway as the canvas outer shell is very tight doesn’t give much leeway to chew. And our current 6 month old Sheltie goes in to the crate to lay down completely on his own – it’s his own little abode and he is content.Joy F.
Fell apart roughly a year after purchase. The plastic pieces / connectors for the frame literally hardened and crumbled. The crate was never used to travel anywhere either. It simply sat in a carpeted bedroom. I was fortunate my dog was not in the crate at the time so that he wasn't injured. I reached out to support and sat here since April. Yes since APRIL (so 6 months), trying to get 2 replacement pieces of plastic, which I have been told are backordered and that I'll hear when they arrive. Today they reached out to me and are telling me I need to pay nearly $100 for the s2 piece of plastic, so half the cost of the entire crate. If I had known that I would have simply contested the charges for this piece of junk and bought another crate from somebody else who won't keep me sitting here. Product is not the same as the playpen I ordered a few months ago, even though the order was placed as a "reorder". The firsrt playpen worked well but the zippers wore out after a few months use. I went to my account and reordered item thinking it would be the same but this one has a flimsy bottom that attaches with some small velcro patches, even velcro completely on the bottom might work better. the puppy I put in it got out in less than thirty min. because of the sloppy w the floor section was put together. it seems extremeley stupid to put 8 very small Velcro pieces on the floor piece 7 & expect it to hold when there are ripples in the spaces between the Velcro large enough for just about any size dog to put its head through. I have some strong hold Velcro so I am going to correct the problem. for the price it was an ok buy & I can repair the problem. After receiving this playpen and setting it up – found a small hole in the side. I was very disappointed, since we had just purchased a 8wk old puppy. I was desperate for someplace to put her to while I worked/or cleaned the house. I didn't want to put her in a small kennel and really thought this product would be my answer. We decided to keep the pen and try to fix the hole. I know Walmart would have taken the product back…but I was not sure the next one would be any better. AND the pen had a terrible odor. Strong chemical smell. I sprayed it with Febreze and set it outside in the sun for the entire day. Smell is much better…but you can still smell it somewhat. The good part is it folds up very nicely and we can use it while camping.

I got this more to take our cats back and forth to the vet that dogs. It is larger than I expected, with plenty of room for them to move around. I love that is folds down for easy storage. I also like the zippered openings at the top and the side. It is easier to get the cat in from the top. The crate is very sturdy and I like the larger handles. I also like the pocket on the side, with plenty of space for a leash or treats. The bottom of the crate has feet, so it reduces wear on the fabric. The mat is easy to remove for cleaning.kschapman
I got this product for a cat carrier to go to vet appointments. First impression, definitely worth the price tag and super sturdy! We opened it and let both our cats explore and get comfortable in it. They fell in love and currently it’s still in my living room with two flaps up secured with the velcro. They have been fighting over whose “house” it is so I didn’t have the heart it to take it down since one compromised using the top net opening as a hammock! The colors are nice and so far it’s held up great! For size reference my cats are 11 and 16 lbs and both fit comfortably in it for a car ride to their appts or traveling.
