My dog loves her new this is a size Medium but there wasn’t that option to select on Influenster. The bed comes just like those beds in a box that expand once you take them out. It says it can take up to 3 days before it’s fully expanded but it seemed to expand completely within an hour or two. The cover is removable to wash. For reference my dog is 23 pounds and a Mini Schnauzer. The bed is perfect for her size. My initial impression was that the bed was very nicely packaged. It comes shrink-wrapped and rolled up like a human's memory foam mattress. It took about half a day for the mattress to regain its shape. The cover is velvety microfiber, and is removable and washable. It might be too hot for the summer months but fall is starting when I received it so that's nice. I have 2 cats and only 1 has even tried it out. The other one just sniffs it. This is a pretty nice luxury pet bed. The top of the mattress has a green tea memory foam pillow. The material and construction of the whole bed is just like a real mattress, but in a pet sized version. It even comes in a roll just like other Zinus mattresses – you unfold and wait for the magic (expansion) to happen. My only problem with this bed is that I needed it to be slightly larger. I thought a Small would fit my Westie mix, but it turns out that it is his exact size. He can fit in the bed and sometimes even naps on it, but most of the time he prefers to just lie down on the carpet. A slightly larger bed (like I assume the Medium would be) would make him more comfortable and maybe use this bed more. There's two main things I look for in things for my dog: 1) durability and 2) washability. Since my dog is still a puppy, I know he'll probably chew on this or scratch it up a bit (let's face it–dogs chew on things), but I think it will be just as durable or more than other pet beds. Since there's actually two covers–the removable, washable cover and than an inner pillow-like cover, I can spray the inner cover with bitter apple spray and that will help deter chewing. As for my second must-have, this has an easily removable outer cover that is machine washable and dryer safe. Nice! As for comfort, this bed can't be beat. The large size is big enough for my toddler to take a nap on, and would make a good camping mattress if you don't have pets. The shredded memory foam pet bed was tightly packaged for distribution and so it was quite compressed when I first removed it from the plastic bag. It quickly expanded to the size described. The dimensions of the pet bed are 46 inches by 28 inches as indicated and the top measures about 5 inches from the floor when not compacted. Our dog is a very large breed, so I wasn’t certain that this bed would accommodate her. She extends over the edges when she stretches out, but it is adequate for her usual sleep positions and she appears to be comfortable. It is flat, without any ridges, as pictured. The shredded memory foam fill is encased in material that is sewn into four compartments so the memory foam does not bunch up. The outer cover seems sturdy and has a zipper so it can easily be removed for laundering. The top of the cover is soft and suede-like while the fabric on the bottom feels like the outer layer of a sleeping bag. I do not detect any of the odors of the memory foam when the outer cover is on. The colors are neutral and should work well with most color schemes. The shredded memory foam makes the pet bed very flexible. It is simple to fold it up for storage when not in use or to take along for travel. I let my teen-age children try it out when I first brought it home. They campaigned strongly to designate it as the family TV pillow rather than the pet bed. We have two 74 lb greyhounds and we purchased this bed to try out in one of their crates and plan to buy a second if it works out. They were the right size for him to stretch out, and the material was soft and plush on one side. This is my second recent purchase of a dog bed by PetMaker, and I've ordered a third. The orthopedic foam is firm and dense enough to provide excellent support at a reasonable mid-range price. If your dog prefers to nestle into a fluffy bed, this is not the bed for that. If you're expecting memory foam that allows the dog's body to sink into the foam and conforms around the dog's body, this is not the bed for that. This is an orthopedic foam bed that will support the dog's weight and provide cushioning and comfort on a hard floor or crate. Dogs with mobility issues may have an easier time getting on and off this type of bed because they won't sink into it and struggle to get out. The foam does need a few days to fully decompress and reach three inches in height. The cover has an almost velvety finish, and the fabric is on the thinner side. So if your dog tends to maul the bed, you may want to look elsewhere for a tougher fabric (or train your dog not to maul the bed). Wow; does Nicki absolutely LOVE her new bed!! I've literally searched forever for an Ortho bed/pillow for my Rottie/Lab mix. She's a large, heavy – but beautiful girl – who was rescued during a animal cruelty seizure. I absolutely LOVE how this bed looks! The sizing chart was pretty spot-on (I know it's hard to offer dimensions on something that's not perfectly rectangular). My dog loves it and uses it all the time, but I wonder how many dogs would be wary of it since it makes "crackly" noises when they walk on it. It's easy to vacuum, too, which is huge in my book. It's very lightweight, which is fine, except if I didn't have it wedged up against a chair (on a rug) it would slide all over. My old girl is 13, and drags her feet, so when she'd try to get on it, it'd move and shift, so I moved it to a place where it will stay put for her. In some of the images online it shows the bed on hard floors; that bed wouldn't stay put for 2 seconds! Also, and this isn't the bed's fault: since I got the cowhide version, that means my oily German shepherd leaves oil marks on the white parts, so of course it needs to be washed far more often than someone without an oily-furred dog (e.g., my parents' golden). That said…it's starting to look more worn and "real" because of the change in color 🙂Sarah d.
We have 3 dogs 69-75 pounds and they all love it. I got the original size which is huge, but they all want to lay on it to chew their bones…and they can! I just washed it for the first time. It washed beautifully. At first I thought it looked thin, but even when I sit on it I don't feel the floor. I wish the faux cowhide was a bit softer to the touch but the dogs love it as it. Fantastic dog bed. Could not be happier with the quality and look of this bed. We ordered two, the cowhide and the fluffy white one, and they both are so well made. I was so happy to find this item. The description states "Recommended for pets 65 to 110 lbs" but I wanted a dog bed with more body so I purchased this for my two dogs to share – one weighing 45 one weighing 55 pounds. They both take turns using it. I have a few beds at different places on the floor, and was looking for one that was waterproof. This wonderful item is thick, but comfortable enough for my senior dogs, and has a nice cover which unzips on TWO sides making removal and putting back on so easy. (If you have struggled with those pads that require stuffing in the inner pad you know what I mean.) The outer cover washes nicely (I zip it almost completely closed and wash on gentle, being careful not to catch any loose threads into the zipper.) There is a separate inner cover made of a plastic type material which also zips on, but you probably would not be taking that off as you could wipe it clean if needed.
