It is a thin type of material. The sides and such are put together with plastic screws, not metal. A big minus for me was the bottom for the crate. I am using to created train a puppy, I was hoping it had a pan like the metal crates with sides to catch urine. Instead it is just a flat piece that fits inside, leaving gaps around the edges. The price is great especially with free shipping! my chihuahua figured out how to escape from her other crate and caused a huge ruckus in the apt complex. Got the kennel together put our 50 pound pup in it. Left to run some errands. Came back he was still locked up but had destroyed the door, bent the wires. I am THRILLED with my end table/ crate! First, it came within 3 or 4 days of ordering! We ordered it for our boy Rambo because he likes to be to himself once in awhile, especially if he doesn't feel well or is scared. (He's a 15 lb. Pomeranian mix.) Well, we were delighted to find that this was so big and that it was made VERY sturdy with quality wood. It took us about half hour to put together and our boy has taken a liking to it. We didn't put the door on-just left it open. Our boy is a rescue and panics if enclosed in a cage. So with the sides and the back having the spindles and the door not on it, he really enjoys going in it. (He now takes his bones in there to chew on.) So we are very pleased with it overall. These solid wood pet crates are gorgeous and well built! High quality! Deep espresso with a sheen! My 20 year old daughter assembled both in an hour! Great price! My one Yorkie won't come out of this crate -he loves it! Ordered the small and my medium sized Yorkies have plenty of room even with cushions and blankets! Just be ready to make tiny predrilled holes bigger with drill bit little bigger than size of screws or you'll need the Hulk to get screws in! Just be careful not to drill through to other side! I purchased this Newport Pet Crate End Table 2/19/2018. It arrived allot sooner than expected. Easy to put together and it looked just like the web pages pictures. However, the locking latch could've been more sturdy. The wooden bars across the windows were also not as solid as I would've preferred. The first time using it was the evening I received it. When I returned home after 4 hrs.he was at the door when I opened it. I bought this product as a means to contain my pet while I'm away. I use to let him run the house until I returned but in the last 4 weeks there have been too many events taken place while I'm gone. There is a warning on this product to only start the screws with a power screwdriver. My advice is to use a hand screwdriver ONLY. The holes are drilled too large for the size screws that are used where even tightening by hand will strip the hole. Also, the many of the holes where the screws are hidden by plastic plugs are drilled too large where I had to shim the holes to get the plugs to stay in. Sad, because the design is attractive and the size is perfect for our dog. So long as it stays in one place, it shouldn't loosen up. However if I do see it loosening, I will simply disassemble it, apply wood glue to the joints and screw it back together with clamps until the glue dries. The manufacturer should be held accountable by LTDC for correcting these issues!BobD8487
I guess I should have figured it was poor quality with the price.As other sites were more but they seemed bigger so tried but not a good choice.The holes didn’t all line up. A couple started to split. Didn’t use power drill like recommended probably would have destroyed it. Back panels are a very thin and if pushed on by dog will break or pop out. Latch doesn’t stay closed so dog could figure out how to slide it open. And if using in house as end table anything you put on it will scratch it or spot it. Looks cheap.The pressed board pieces have a dull & shiny side which all don’t match. Going to have to repaint it with a paint that will hold up and maybe a piece of real wood or veneer on top to make it look presentable. Purchased the dog crate because it seemed functional but attractive. The crate actually is finished nicely. But as we were putting it together we realized one of the back panel was not included. At that point we had the crate almost completed. I called Lakeside to inform them. They had me to take apart the crate, box it and send it back to them. They told me they would then send a replacement crate after they received the defective crate. I only needed one back panel. They informed me that they could not send just a part. My one Yorkie won't come out of this crate -he loves it! Ordered the small and my medium sized Yorkies have plenty of room even with cushions and blankets! Just be ready to make tiny predrilled holes bigger with drill bit little bigger than size of screws or you'll need the Hulk to get screws in! Just be careful not to drill through to other side! I purchased this Newport Pet Crate End Table 2/19/2018. It arrived allot sooner than expected. Easy to put together and it looked just like the web pages pictures. However, the locking latch could've been more sturdy. The wooden bars across the windows were also not as solid as I would've preferred. The first time using it was the evening I received it. When I returned home after 4 hrs.he was at the door when I opened it. I bought this product as a means to contain my pet while I'm away. I use to let him run the house until I returned but in the last 4 weeks there have been too many events taken place while I'm gone. He's already chewed away at the bars til he's almost completely through. He's shihtzu mix.Charles

This could be fine for a small quiet dog, returning item for poor workmanship and design flaws. The door hardware would not with stand a strong determined dog. The door stop would not work correctly because of interference from the wire screen put in by the manufacturer. That was the first thing to put on and we decided to go no further. I purchased 2 of these crates in white for the master bedroom in our beach condo. Assembly was quick and easy. These crates are SO much more attractive than plastic and metal dog crates. I placed the fronts of the crates side by side, and they are about 50" wide total. The large flat surface on top is nice for stacking the extra pillows from our bed when we go to bed at night. The crates are roomy inside, so if you're debating between sizes, I'd recommend sizing down. At first, I didn't know if I'd like that they don't have a floor in them, but now, I love it because cleaning or moving them is so much easier. My dogs' beds fit great inside the crates. Really great crate! Looks nice in our family room! We upgraded from a similar we had hut our Lulu outgrew it and was having a hard time finding a large one with the same kind of door opening the previous one had. this one did not disappoint at all. Sturdy and our Lulu loves it. She is a 5 months chocolate lab and has plenty of room to grow to! This will be her forever little home! Gave it 4 stars because it came with a small dent/scratch imperfection on the top. Orher than that super recommend!
I bought this particular End Table Crate because of the features, namely the door that swings all the way open and can be secured to the side of the crate. It also looked the most like an end table with nice wood that is finished well. While it is not "fine furniture," it is exactly what it claims to be in its description and functions very well as both an end table and a crate. The reviews that I read are accurate. It is easy to assemble. It looks nice and my dogs find it comfortable. I also appreciate the fact that the floor of the crate is a removable plastic tray that is easily cleaned. However, if you're going to use the door, you need a lot of space for it to swing. I think it is a good value and I'm glad that I bought it but I wouldn't call it an "excellent" value because the quality of the construction and the finish is only good, with some of the joints not exact or expertly finished with even coating and no spots missed. There could have been a little more attention to detail. Overall, I have found this to be a very good product so far and would recommend it for homes with dogs who are not still in the chewing phase or like to scratch and dig. This is for trained adult dogs, not puppies or dogs still settling into crate training.DogLover52

Looks great in my living room. 4 stars because the latch isnt great and one of the magnet pieces that holds the doors shut just fell off and it hasnt been a month using it. The latch does keep my dog in for now, but Ill probably change it to something a little more sturdy.Anonymous
