This is a purchase that I can conclude as a lesson learnt. I purchased this product because it was smaller than my other pet unit which allowed it for portability when traveling. The turf itself is okay quality, easy to clean and drains correctly. However, the middle draining tray is not designed at all to work at all. The urine just collects on top of the drain tray because the holes and bumps aren't in a functional area and it barely drains to the lower tray. It is made from a texture that soaks up the urine instead of allowing it to flow off and threw, therefore it collects oder, collects urine that won't wash/scrub off, it can't be cleaned properly and all that waste causes the material to break down. When I say break down, I mean in ever sense. It starts to break off in pieces. Every time I clean the product, more peices fall off and it gets smaller and smaller. Basically, this product does not work. I learned that I should stick with what works and not take chances of cheaper off brand products. Even though the size of my other potty unit is less portable, it actually works! It seemed like an amazing idea! Put it together, dog used it fine and everyone was happy! Then realized the drain doesn't work very well, and left the grass flooded. Had to pull the grass up in order for the drain to drain. Then, after about the 4th or 5th use, the tray fell through. My dog is smaller than a lab, right around our just less than 40lbs. She doesn't like stepping on flooded grass or using it when it's not stable and falls through the middle. Please reinforce the base. After waisting money on cheaper products my friend recommended piddle place pet relief system that I could only get online. My puppy is shih-tzu and malteese mix and this pad is the only place he would potty. you need to keep this clean and make sure you spray "bitter apple" on the edges from the very first day otherwise, he will try to chew the green "grass". The potty is a great idea and very well made. It took my dog a while to get used to it, and he needs to be forced to use it. We just got a little dog that is 1 from the shelter. She has trouble holding the pee and poo till we get home. She is a chewer and she figured out how to pull the grass out so that went right away chewed it all up. Then the plastic grates and the puppy pad after that. I would say they need to figure out how to make it so they cannot easily pull it apart. If you have an older dog that isn't into chewing this will be great for you. Otherwise it's a waste of money. This is one of the best investments I have ever made. My dog took to her potty patch by the end of the day. She is now 12 years old and still uses it. My 6 year old long-haired chihuahua Choco is pad trained, but we've been having this issue where he steps on his fresh *** and tracks it all over the apartment floor, making me mop the floor multiple times a day. *** pads also don't do a great job with odor control, so it was time to look for an alternative. And fresh patch solved my problem! Choco's always been good with peeing on grass when we're on walks, so he picked it up in no time. We received the patch on Jan 8 so it's been 4 days (and Choco pees about 3-4 times a day) and I haven't noticed any odor. With *** pads, I had to replace every day (if not twice a day) to get rid of the urine smell. So this is working out great for us! There was a bit of a hiccup in shipping, but it wasn't Fresh Patch's fault — OnTrac, the courier had kept the package at their warehouse for almost a week, during which the grass patch – being moist and all – had developed mold. Our seventeen year old dachshund Mango began having bathroom accidents. Not wanting to restrict him with diapers we began looking for alternatives and we have found Fresh Patch. Although Mango does not seem to adjust to the grass after over a week of attempts, I believe it to be an excellent quality product. It is still very much alive and thriving nearly two weeks later. I love the way it feels and looks and since Mango isn't using it, I have been enjoying its use as a bed mat. Nothing more satisfying than getting out onto green grass every morning! We bought the medium size for our 20 lb poodle. I was concerned it would be too big, it was definitely the right size – any smaller and she wouldn't have been able to circle. It's stable and she feels comfortable getting on it. The design allows the urine to drain away so no more wet feet. We followed another person's suggestion of lining the urine collection bin with saran wrap and then filling that with a couple scoops of kitty litter. Best purchase ever. To train my puppy to use this I collected some of his urine and placed it on the mat for him to smell. Immediately he used the pet loo. I don't bother with the Pee sponge. The product is basically as it is described. My puppy is a little rambunctious, so she wouldn't stop pulling them around and trying to eat the grass off. She is 4 months old and very energetic. She was initially trained on potty pads, but we were looking for a segue into training her to go outside. It didn't really work for us. I ordered a LARGE for my PUGGLE and he barely can fit on it. Definitely not even close to true to size. And since i've started using this the scent of urine has been obnoxious and potent and i clean it daily with pet lysol spray and hot water. This is a purchase that I can conclude as a lesson learnt. I purchased this product because it was smaller than my other pet unit which allowed it for portability when traveling. The turf itself is okay quality, easy to clean and drains correctly. However, the middle draining tray is not designed at all to work at all. The urine just collects on top of the drain tray because the holes and bumps aren't in a functional area and it barely drains to the lower tray. It is made from a texture that soaks up the urine instead of allowing it to flow off and threw, therefore it collects oder, collects urine that won't wash/scrub off, it can't be cleaned properly and all that waste causes the material to break down. When I say break down, I mean in ever sense. It starts to break off in pieces. Every time I clean the product, more peices fall off and it gets smaller and smaller. Basically, this product does not work. I learned that I should stick with what works and not take chances of cheaper off brand products. Even though the size of my other potty unit is less portable, it actually works! (If it's okay to say, I only trust the AKC Official Potty Patch, which is superior in every way to this product.)HeathersLasVegas

This is waxed cardboard that goes in grooves on a cheap plastic tray. The dog did not like the plastic bristle fake grass. Washing pads daily is a hassle and they don't fit well. I ended up covering it with disposable pads but have to leave the grass and cloth pads in the bottom to help keep it weighted. I have it shoved up against solid objects so it doesn't slide out from under the dog as well. He is only 9 lbs. You can see he scooted it out some in the photo.PaddedCell
I noticed alot of bad reviews and realized most satisfied customers don't tend to review, so here goes.—– I have had mine for a year now for 2 yorkie-poo's. I now have 7 for my entire house. 2 connected upstairs, 4 connected downstairs, and 1 for my outside patio. They were not all purchased at the same time and only 1 came with the little wall. I feel the cardboard-ish wall/divider should come with all trays. The plastic tray that the pad sits on is very easy to clean. At first, I did not understand why the pads were so freaking large, but after washing a few times, they fit perfectly. I quickly realized that if you don't wash the pads everyday that you will need to take them outside to spray them "clean" with the waterhose before throwing them in the washing machine…..otherwise your machine will reak of pee!! The grass patches are also easy to clean by just spraying them off. My pups are now a year old, but they have separation anxiety when we leave the house for too long. If I leave the house and they don't have a toy or treat that they like to eat or play with, they WILL chew on and destroy the pooch pads. I have had to replace 1 grass patch thus far due to this.
