I was a little skeptical about how this would work, but it turned out to be a great purchase! I started out training our small dog to sit inside with the top flap unzipped. I fed him a treat and then released him after a few minutes. Within a few days, he was asking to be put in . Then we started short trips around the house, wheeling it like a suitcase and slipping him a treat and praise every few minutes.he caught on right away and liked how cozy and secure he felt. The only improvement to be made is that when the weather is cold or wet, the lower mesh secrions allow moisture in, splash up from the wheels. I cut the end off a stretchy flannel pillowcase, and pulled it over the whole bag, rolling down the top part so my dog could could see out , but covering the lower half . This worked great! Our dog loves traveling with us, and this is a safe, secure way to take him from car to hotel, crowded areas where he might get stepped on, or new situationscwhen hes nervous. We love it!JayD63

The carrier was better than I expected. The size is fine for my dog. The pad for the bottom is very soft. The part with the wheels is attached to the carrier with velcro strips and two flaps that also velcro together so it can be removed easily. The solid handle periscopes out to a comfortable pulling position and goes back just as easily. It also has a handle and a big padded carrying strap. Fluffy first sniffed at it, then he (drama queen) was upset at me for something and went in and refused to budge. Later he came out all warm and toasty, so it is his fav hang out, even tho it tips. I think he tips it on purpose. Easy to put together, just zips together! Looks kinda like a big hat box from the 60's. He tried to unzip it, clever boy, but not this one. Two openings, so if he's drama queening it up I can just open the top and pop him in, he can stand up in it, lay down, curl up, stretch out. He loves the Thinsilate insulation, but this is only for winter, Thinsilate keeps stuff warm better than cool. He has a fully ventilated summer backpack/roller. I haven't tried the method described for car travel yet. His only complaint was after I put the rollers on the bottom was hard and lumpy, started to take off like that and my drama queen howled until I put a folded throw and sham to break the hardness, a small pillow would do the same. I buy the $2.50 throws out of the bin and put them into a couple of shams that don't match anything. The pet carrier is not a crate, it is pretty delicate compared to the hard-sided pet crates. With respect and care I expect this to last several years.
I purchased this for my 10 lb puppy. She had plenty of room to stand, turn, and stretch while inside. Even better, I think it will still be a good size when she is full grown at 15-17 lbs. I took this on a long roundtrip journey involving several train changes, a bus ride, and Ubers. It is very lightweight and functions well both when rolled or carried by the shoulder strap. It is by far the best I've seen (this is the 4th pet carrier I ordered in search of the perfect one) in terms of design and material quality. The only problem is the strap inside the case, the one that can be clipped to a pet collar, was already coming loose before we even used it once. Then halfway through the trip, one of the zipper pullers on the top flap came right off the zipper tracks, followed by the 2nd puller a few days later even though I tried to be extra gentle. Now the whole top flap is coming unsewn. But I love this case so much I have ordered another, hoping the sewing quality was just a fluke. If the 2nd one holds ups, I will give it 5 stars.Pug Lover

I have a pretty big cat, she is about 12 pounds. She fits in the crate comfortably and could stand and turn around with ease. I don't think it is big enough to bring an animal on a plane, but I am not sure. This crate is better for short trips to the vet and such. You can easily unzip the side door and take the cat out, unlike a hard crate, which makes life a lot easier if your cat is skiddish when travelling. Took my 18lb dog on a flight in this carrier. First flight I removed the the entire bottom with the guide pole. Big mistake. The velcro on the bottom of the carrier stuck to the airplane carpet so hard to move carrier under the seat. My bad! Next flight I simply removed the wheels and left the solid bottom on the carrier and it went under the seat just fine. Very stable even when the dog moved around a bit, and easy to pull along. This is Samson’s 2nd Snoozer. The first one was purchased 6 years ago and got plenty of use. I use it as a car seat, a wheeled carrier, an under the seat bed when flying and a backpack when he gets tired hiking. I bought the medium sized carrier for my 20 year old 19 pound Siamese cat. Other reviews said that the medium sized carrier was acceptable by most airlines and I needed it for our trips to Florida on Frontier Airlines. It is a tight fit but it does fit under the middle seat. Did not try the aisle or window. The main complaint that I have is the difficulty of access. There is a metal bar that separates a zippered lower opening and a zippered upper opening. It appears that the bar is used for stability, which is fine, but it greatly reduces the accessibility to your pet when you have to take them out for the TSA inspection at a crowed airport security checkpoint. It is very convenient to carry my dog in a backpack while going through security. Then pulling up the handle and being able to roll her to my gate. I have a 7 lb chihuahua and I bought her the medium carrier. She is a little longer in the body than the average chihuahua. She fits beautifully and has plenty of room to move and lay down in both the upright position and when the carrier is laying down. I would definitely suggest you put in a soft blanket because there is no cushioning, I also went and bought a soft waterproof material and velcroed it on the Part of the carrier that she would lay on under the seat. That way if there were any accidents I could take it out and wash it.B Y

I bought to take my new cat to the vet. He was only 9 lbs at the time so I assumed it would be more than enough for him. Upon bringing him home it literally fell apart and he got loose outside and had to be chased down. I followed the little instructions there were, latched and tightened everything the was to tighten and it still fell apart. Just bought 2 15 pound crates from a retail store and wow… I used to use petmate carriers almost exclusively and now I'll probably not buy another. Super shoddy construction, cheap, flexible plastic, would offer no protection in a car accident and probably wouldn't hold a determined animal.Fras
Two years ago we purchased this carrier for transporting our cats. After only a year the top split. The handle was useless. Another option was to use the shoulder harness. The rings broke through the plastic. A 16 pound cat could not possibly be the reason this product failed. I give this product a rating of zero. I honestly think it was a huge waste of money, simply because the design was flawed.

I'm pretty happy with this cat carrier. It seems quite well made and solid so far and my male cat fits in it easily. I have two criticisms: (1) In backpack form the strap isn't very comfortable and just runs loosely through a D-loop which makes it hard to get on and off without help. Two separate straps would help here. (2) I think it needs flaps covering the side mesh like it has for the back mesh.. Sometimes there's a bit too much going on on all sides for a pet and it would be better to be able to partially cover them to reduce overstimulation. Other than that I'm happy with it.Lee B.
This pet carrier is a real back saver when transporting a pet, especially a cat, to the vet. No more lifting or carrying a heavy pet cage. The cat is easily put into the carrier, zipped up and off you go. A definite must have for all "cat parents" especially those of mature years. It did require assembly which at times was rather fiddly but we got there in the end. Although I did read the dimensions, I just did not expect this to be so HUGE! We have 2 little Pomeranian puppies and this was truly overkill. I bought this to replace the plastic travel crate thinking it would be great with the wheels and handle. However, only after I got it did I realize the puppies would have chewed the insides to pieces. This is really well-made and I ended up giving it to my sister for her adult dogs. I would NOT recommend this for puppies with chewing issues. It was a shame because it totally matched the PetGear stroller we purchased that they really do love and DON'T chew on. My 17+ lb Persian doesn't fit in a regular carrier comfortably. The plastic hard side carriers are to heavy for me and too bulky. I purchased the IGO-2 carrier Plus and now he has enough room, can stand or sit while on car trips. It's high quality, can be used as a backpack, or over the shoulder, or with the telescopic handle and rolled. I love it so much I bought 3 more smaller IGOs for my other cats. Now I don't have to worry about how I'll transport all of them in an emergency. I have two of these for my dogs and LOVE them. They have wheels and telescoping handle, over shoulder strap, backpack and can be a car seat using the seat belt sleeve on the back with the shoulder strap. This size also fits under most airplane seats I have found so it great to travel with via plane too. I purchased this carrier for a 2 leg international flight with my 16 lb boston terrier. She had never flown before, and we were both nervous about how it was going to work out. Choosing this carrier made our trip a breeze!! I trained her to associate being in it with getting treats, and then we practiced riding around in it on our normal walking path at home. For the long trip she was snug but comfortable, both while riding around the airport in it and while under the seat on the plane. I have 2 older slightly over weight Shih Tzus that I wanted to be able to take along on my Trikke when I take my larger dog out to run her. I had to be careful that they were large enough for the dogs to be comfortable in but not too bulky for me to fit on the Trikke as well. Mission accomplished. Though they are not touching, I am able to stack one above the other and attach them to the main post. They are spacious enough for the dogs to sit comfortably in them and compact enough that they do not interfere with my steering or control. The added features I didn't pay attention to when I ordered these 2 pet carriers would actually make it easy to transport my dogs just about anywhere in the world I would want to go. This product is of good quality, but it is Way Too Small for my 13 lb poodle! When I zip the top flap closed, his face is smashed up against the mesh, and when I leave it open, he crawls out of it because it is too confining. This might be a good product for a teacup sized dog. Also, the "padding" at the bottom is very thin, so your dog has to sit on a hard surface unless you put your own cushion in this carrier.CaraE
I bought this bookbag so I could take my dog with me on bike rides (he is 4 lbs). It has plenty of room for him and sits comfortably on my back. A friend of ours had this carrier for his cat when he'd take her to the vet. But now, that she has passed on and somehow, we had adopted two baby raccoons that are trained to live in the house, they liked keeping their toys and such in it. This pet carrier is perfect for my fat cat who is almost 20 pounds. It gives him room to sit, stand, or lay down. The extendable handle and wheels at the back/bottom allow me to safely transport my kitty to/from the car, vet, and home. The straps allow him to be safely seat belted into the car. The side pockets let me keep valuables, so that I don't have to try to lug a purse into the veterinary office with us.
I first submitted a review when emailed to complete it without yet receiving my item. Well I did receive my item and PetCo was kind enough to send me the wrong color, I have a male cat who likes dark colors and was sent a night pink one. Highly dissatisfied for being sent the incorrect item but since I go out of town in a few days I don’t have time to drive an hour and a half to the nearest store to exchange or even send it back.
